Default installation location

Hello! I install the database Oracle and Query Tool Express Edition for the first time. I have Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate Edition. I was just wondering why the default installation location is C:\ rather than C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x 86). If I change the default location, this will affect the software in any way (i.e. the program will have trouble to find some files)? Is there a real reason to install it on C:\?

You can change the location, but I strongly suggest do not use space when you use a different name

Example:
Use D:\My_Database\xxx

Don't use D:\My Database\xxx

  • No option to change the installation location of the program

    Hello

I have problems with my laptop running Vista Basic.

Whenever I try to install a new program, it automatically starts the installation on drive C.  There is no opportunity to change the installation location.  It must now to the point where drive C is almost full yet D drive is almost empty.

Is it possible I can get Vista to start giving me the option to choose where I would like the installation to occur or may simply change the default location?  I don't have a problem with the deletion of all programs that are running on my laptop that I have all the disks necessary to reinstall, I just can't continue as things are.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Andy

If you get a choice of the place where the software is the responsibility of the installer, no windows.  I would say it's time to start looking in an upgrade of the hard drive if you are running this short space.

    Hello

What program you use to download anything on the internet? Internet Explorer?

In internet explorer 8 when you download files, Windows usually saves in the downloads folder, which is located under your user name in the users folder on the drive where Windows is installed (for example, C:\users\your namepersonal). When you save the file, you can choose to save it in a different folder. By default, some file types are saved in different folders. For example, if you right click on an image on a Web page and choose Save the image as in the menu, the image will be saved in the default pictures folder. If you don't know where the file has been saved, you can search for it in the start menu.

  • Cannot change the default installation directory (missing ProgramFilesDir)

I'm changing the default installation on my computer directory.  I looked at the number of threads here that cover the topic.  I go to regedit and follow this path: 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion' but I can't find the value 'ProgramFilesDir.' "  It's on Windows 7, 64-bit.

Your much more course using the option 'tailor-made' for each program you want to install. Most of the applications have this option. Change the system variable or the registry entry can cause other issues, you may not like.

Should I use best practices in default installation of MS Office and other programs path because my company uses the directory default for MS Office installation and other programs? Typically, you leave the default installation path is.

Show you the paths are for 64 bit & 32 bit programs, more often that it is senseless to do otherwise.

And if you talk to a separate partition/drive programs usually function properly, or not at all, if installed on other than the partition Win

  • Change the installation location of many programs?

I just got an SSD (60 GB) to use as my drive master boot and after doing some research, it became clear that changing the progamfilesdir /(x86) registry entries can cause problems with some programs and Windows update.

A lot of programs that I use allow me to change the installation location, but some do not. Is there a method to move these programs or make install in another directory?
    Thank you.

Even if you custom install on a drive to reactivate, a lot of files will be written on the disc of the victory.

    Hey there,

Go to desktop mode and open internet explore. Contact / click the icon 'speed' in the upper right corner, touch / click on "view downloads," then, in the lower right window which arises just should be the word "Options" in blue. Touch / click on "options" and another window will open where you can modify the default download location.

  • Why can't Windows 8 allow us to save the last save location or to specify a default save location that is NOT my document?

I get very irritated by how Windows 8 behaves in what concerns the registration of files from the internet.

Don't know anyway or tricks Windows 8 brand allow me to save the last saved location or to specify the default saving location, it's not "my document"? It drives me crazy especially when I try to load files for my email or down when you save files from the internet.

    Concerning

I figured out, you click on your folders icon in the lower left corner, then click 'libraries' left, make a right click on 'my documents' or 'my images' depending on what you are trying to save, click on properties, click on 'Add' and select the desired drive, then make sure it is ticked as "save location" and remove the other 2 in the list... Click apply / OK. BAM now whenever you save a document he will enter the location of your choice / image if you did it in my photos

  • Need of installation location

    Hello

    I have a Win 64 bit 8.1 operating system

I need help on getting the installation location by ""64bits ODAC with Oracle for Visual Studio development tools for 11g and 12 c ' to support a particular application. " The application of pre - req. is Oracle Upsert

Based on the little research I've done, I came across this http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html software but it says nothing about "Oracle developer tools for Visual Studio" and I feel that it comes only with 32-bit "Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) for Windows downloads

Can someone tell me how I can meet this precondition of the application as indicated below

    Requirements

    For the 64-bit task factory:

o 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) 11 g with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio

    o Oracle 64-bit 12 c managed data access Client

    -Learner

There is no 64-bit Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio, because there is no 64-bit Visual Studio. VS only comes in 32-bit. The number of bits Oracle tools must match the number of bits of Visual Studio.
