Default program - ZIP files

I have a weird problem with Vista. Adobe Reader has been changed somehow, the default program for .zip files. I don't know how it happened, but I don't seem to be able to cancel it. The only thing I can do is to change the default program to something else, but I do not see all of the options for "unassociating" or run. Any ideas how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Download the fix here:

For Windows Vista file association problems
http://www.Winhelponline.com/articles/105/1/file-association-fixes-for-Windows-Vista.html

Right-click on the ZIP file, Save Target as..., download the REG file to the desktop. Right click on the REG file and choose merge (allow). Note that you must be an administrator to apply these fixes.

  • How to associate a default program for files without extension?

I work with files of Linux a lot on my Windows 7, and it does not give me an option to associate a program with files without extensions. For example, I'm going to open a file called "config" and Windows prompts me to choose a program to open it with, but "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is greyed out. Since I use a third-party editor (Notepad ++) which analyzes correctly Linux line breaks, I want files with extensions not always open with this program. Is it still possible?

    Hey Nico SJ,

If you want to return the association by default .zip from Windows Explorer, take a look at the answer given in the thread below.
Program changed default for .zip files.

Alternatively, you can set your new third-party program that you use to open .zip as your default program for the extension .zip files. This will allow you just click Open and have this program open the file for you. The link below will provide additional information about the configuration of the default program associated with an extension of the .zip type:

    Hi PoJo1

    Go to the following site.

Difficulties of file Association for Windows 7

In the file types list, right-click on the "Zip" type and select Save target under... Download the file to the desktop.

Go to the desktop, click on the zip_fix_w7.reg file and select the Merge option. If you get a pop-up message on the registry, select OK to merge.

This will refresh the built-in zip functions.

    I hope this helps.

  • By default Firefox for .zip files is empty.

Hello. You may recognize my user name as is the guy is constantly plagued by problems with Firefox. The last blunder of the browser are:

I downloaded a NZB file and went to ' open with: others ' and selected GetNZB. From this point, the selection box set automatically highlight GetNZB, although WinRar was the default program. It prevents me from using WinRar, but I had to take the time to choose, which previously was useless, so I found it extremely irritating. I decided to uninstall GetNZB to solve the problem.

Guess what? There can be no. Now, the box is EMPTY by default. I got the add-on "save file in" so I removed it. It made no difference. I followed a tutorial to restore download actions. It made no difference. There is absolutely no sense whatever, and I should just be able to open with WinRar with a single click.

I'm sorry if I have his rude, but years dumped on technology has taken its toll.

Well, I apologize. I think that I thought about it. I had to remove mimeTypes.rdf and it seems to work now.
