Definition of firefox to remember history forever

Hello support forum.

I think that I have the latest stable Firefox, on both my office and my cell phone.

Regarding my question: on my laptop I can get to Subject: config and put something like max_pages preference or expire days or something like that.
Fact on my laptop that I put it to 999999.

I can't know the same preferences on my desk: config, is there another preference for this?

I found that the places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages is set to a predetermined number. now, I need to change. I changed it once but I forgot how I did it, can someone help me change this preference?

Thank you!

Firefox automatically calculates how many pages to keep without affecting performance and saves the value in the transient_max_pages preference.

You can create a pref max_pages to substitute the current maximum, but it is best to leave the prefs to their default value.

You can see the current value through the unalterable pref places.history.expiration.transient_max_pages on the topic: config page.

  • Firefox not remember the form history.

I put several times Firefox, remember history, to close Firefox and re-open later only to find that she has been restored using custom settings.
The parameter to clear the history to the close is disabled and should not affect. But even once, the 'Firefox will', resets when I close Firefox.
Firefox acts it on my desktop and my laptop, so should not be a problem with a particular computer.

I found the problem. I use a program/app called Dashlane to manage my passwords. I used it for awhile and this problem is fairly recent.
After having tried all your suggestions, I tried once more to "Refresh" Firefox, but this time I opened Firefox immediately after having updated and found the setting of the story remained on do not forget after closing and re-opening. Then I activated Dashlane and the problem reappeared. People with disabilities and disappeared again.
So, it seems that there is a problem between Firefox and Dashlane that popped up after one or the other put out an update.
Thanks for your help. I was tired of hitting my head and pulling out what remains of my hair.

I went to settings and changed the homepage back to google.com and told to "use the custom settings for history". I closed Firefox and opened it again and my homepage was google.com, as I put it, but it was back to "never remember history". I tried several times, yesterday and today, but Firefox keeps affecting himself never "remember history".

Choose the 'use the settings customized for history' parameter is not make changes to the parameters of the history and cookies.

Firefox displays the "use the custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one story and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that the changes have been made.

If all the history settings are default, custom settings are hidden and see you "conservation rules: (never) don't forget history."

You can disable password manager if you want to never store a name and a password.

    • Tools > Options > Security: passwords: [] "Remember passwords for sites".

Otherwise you can click on the key icon to the left of the address bar Firefox request to store a password and click on maybe ever to create an exception block.

In case you use 'Clear history of Firefox closing' or otherwise to clear the history.

Latest version Firefox 42.0 broke it. Disqus comments people link Twitter messages inside. The image of these messages no longer appear. There is just an empty space. It is used to display the twitter even with "never remember history" selected.

Hi nschm873, what you see is probably the new tracking feature of protection in incognito in action.
However, since this is completely optional, you can easily disable it in the section the Panel privacy options: disable the Tracking protection

  • Why would it be good for Firefox to remember the story?

Try select options: I can't find any information of when and when not to remember the history would be a good thing.

    Some uses for history:

    • Returning to a page you visited, but who did not favorite
    • Restoration of the tabs you had open in your previous session after Firefox starts

When you view the privacy preferences, I suggest to change the selector on Firefox will: use the custom settings for history to see which can store data categories Firefox.

Then you can decide if you want your research and me am recalled form entries, or if you want to erase some data on shutdown.

I suggest to these cookie settings:

    [X] accept cookies
    Accept third-party cookies: always
    Keep until: I close Firefox*.

    * For stay connected on selected sites, you can add them to the list of Exceptions

With the help of Firefox will: don't remember history starts Firefox in private browsing, automatic mode. Which is usually not necessary, because you can open a private window at any time in the menu for sites where you don't want Firefox to record history. See: private - browsing using Firefox without saving history.

This is a recent change. I have Tools-Options-life private-story set to "Remember history" as always, but it does not work. Thank you.

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Which is more secure, using private browsing or don't remember history?

I want to use the most secure method for navigation.

    Please share your ideas.

    Thank you!

Never remember history and the private browsing mode are the same and the two always select "use the private browsing mode.

    • Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "Use the custom settings for history": [X] "always use the private browsing mode.
  • stretch image in html background working if "never remember history" is selected

I have a problem that did not exist in previous versions of mozilla. I found the problem after you have installed the latest version and after setting ever "remember history" of firefox

The problem is related to the CSS code to stretch a background image to fit the screen. The background image does not stretch if "never remember history" is NOT defined. That part of the image is displayed and the rest of the background is black. I noticed first with my website www.missionbayhighalumni.com and subsequently found that the same problem also occurred with this site:
    http://www.htmlite.com/faq022.php or http://www.htmlite.com/faqEX004b.html

I created several test cases with very simple code, all had the problem. The background image extend tests of code all work for other browsers and even firefox if "never remember history" is not selected. It also seems to be intermittent.

Looking very good for me and all containers have a height: 100%, which is also OK.

You can delete all data stored in Firefox with a specific area through "Forget this Site" in the context menu of a history entry ("" history > view history "or" view > sidebar > History "") or via the subject: permissions page.

Using "Forget this Site" will delete all data stored in Firefox in this area as bookmarks, cookies, words of past, cache, history, and exceptions, so be careful and if you have a password or other data from that domain you don't want to lose then check that back up these data or make a comment.

You can't recover from this "forget" unless you have a backup of the files involved.

It has no lasting effect, so if come back you on such a 'forgotten' site, then the data of this Web site will be saved once more.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • How can I get Firefox to remember my settings on my Yahoo mail. I have them whenever I check it. I put my Firefox to remember my story.

I want to see my e-mail with the basic settings, but it will return to their value by default whenever I connect. I have my set Firefox to remember the story and save cookies.

What are your current cookie settings?
You allow all cookies or if you are you using the 'ask me' setting?

This problem may be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

    • Check the permissions on the subject: permissions page and in "tools > Page Info > Permissions.

You can control and manage permissions for the domain in the tab currently selected through these steps:

    • Click the address bar onthe Site identity button"(globe/lock)
    • Click on 'More information' to open ' tools > Page Info "with the Security tab is selected
    • Go to the permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

Clear the cache and delete cookies only from Web sites that cause problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Firefox/tools > Options > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox/tools > Options > privacy > "Use the custom settings for history" > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

If the deletion of cookies did not help, then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies has been corrupted.

    • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete the other files of cookies as cookies.sqlite - journal in the profile folder of Firefox in the case where the cookies.sqlite file has been corrupted.
