Definition of InDesign CC as default program to open indd files

I have CS6 and CC to inDesign.  I need to keep the CS6 for a plug-in that does not exist yet in CC.  indd files open with CS6 as a default, even if CC is open.  I tried to open it with functionality and look for the CC program, but when I click it, it does not recognize my computer as a possible opening to CC.  I uninstalled CS6 and CC are now available by default, but as soon as I put CS6 back on, no dice.  Any ideas?

Windows tends to use the latest version installed by default. It is theoretically possible to hack the registry to change it, but I have never had luck using the file association that salah described.

You could try to reinstall new CC so it becomes a last installed, or you can buy the Soxy Rorohiko.com plugin, and all your files ID will be oepn in the version they were saved to when you double-click.

  • Definition of Photoshop CC 2014 as my "default program" to open JPEG files in Windows 7

I just installed Photoshop CC 2014 on my Windows 7 computer. I put Photoshop as my "default program" to open JPEG files. Now when I double-click a JPEG, Photoshop CC will launch instead of 2014 CC Photoshop. I noticed that the executable files for all versions of Photoshop are "Photoshop.exe" (no wonder that windows merges). If I changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 to something like "Photoshop2014.exe" then Windows will allow me to choose the program as my "default program" to open a JPEG file, however it is therefore impossible for me to open the files in Lightroom. Lightroom to Photoshop CC will default.

I changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 to "Photoshop.exe" and renamed all the executable files for my older versions of Photoshop. It still does not work.

Should I make certain types of changes in the registry?

It's the post on this site: Re: Adobe CS6 file associations are all seeds

Simply change the directory to the correct EXE for cc 2014 and you should be good.

This is a Registry fix for Win7 machines for the file association problem.

    This from TinusHDCA user:

I installed Photoshop CS6, then found CS5 was always there. I thought, Hey, I don't have CS5, so I uninstalled CS5. then I discovered that Photoshop was no longer available in "Open with", when right clicking on an image...

I went into the registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command, and changed (by default) of "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1' to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1' (so changed CS5 to CS6) - and now I see "Adobe Photoshop CS6" in my list 'Open with' when right-clicking on an image...

  • How can I configure Adobe Flash Player as default program to open SWF files?

    Overview of basic

I have this work very well to my laptop at home, but I need this working for school projects.

Whenever I want to open a SWF file at home, I just double click it and open it in Adobe Flash Player (Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22) and I have no problem!

However, when I'm at school I have to run in Internet Explorer, the file SWF, Adobe Flash Player IS installed, but the SWF files are opened directly, they are opened in Internet Explorer.

    At home

If I right click on a SWF file at home and select 'Open with', and then "choose default program...". ", Adobe Flash Player is already there under the name" Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22 ", so I can select the default value. (On my laptop at home)

    At the school

In school, so go to "Open with", then "choose default program... ", Adobe Flash Player IS NOT there, only Internet Explorer and other programs in the box of other programs. (On my laptop to school)

    Question

How can I assign Adobe Flash Player as default program to open SWF files (on my laptop to school)? If I select "Browse...". "and go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash there is no file with a description of" Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22 ", is the file for the program located somewhere else, or I'm just not properly looked into the record?

I really need these files open in Adobe Flash Player directly and not in Internet Explorer (I know that you can set the view to 100% and do it properly sized)

    Thanks to all who help!
-Charlie! (Yes I know, that I need not write this in a forum)

The standard Flash Player is a browser add-on and not a standalone player.  So what in fact opens when you open a SWF file at home?  Flash Player projector?

If so, you must also download in your school, to http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html, then make the file association.

  • How to change a default program to open the file instead of Widnows Media Player

Windows Media Player opens many of my files (which in fact cannot be opened).  What can I do to make the Media Player ceases to be the default to open my files?  I can't even open Internet Explorer because Media Player wants to open.

    Hello

By the description, I understand that Windows Media Player is been activated as default program to open all the files.

You can change (set another program as default) your default program following the steps mentioned below:

    1. open default programs by clicking the Start button, click default programs.
    2. click on associate a type of file or Protocol with a program.
    3. click on the file type or protocol that you want the program to act as the default value.
    4. click on the change agenda.
    5. click on the program that you want to use by default for the selected file type, or click the arrow next to other programs to show other programs. (If you don't see other programs or your program is not listed, click Browse to find the program you want to use, and then click Open. If no other programs are installed that are able to open the type of file or Protocol, your choice will be limited.)

  • How can I change the default program to open ZIP files?

    original title: open .zip files

I changed the default mode of opening zip files somehow. My laptop now wants to use something other than the Windows Explorer to navigate to the zip files. I tried to "Browse" to Windows Explorer, but it will not find...

Zip files still show with compressed folder icon?

Try re-registering the DLL that controls how the Zip files are open.  Click Start and in the search for field type

    Regsvr32.exe /u zipfldr.dll

Press ENTER.  Click Start, then in the type field search

    Regsvr32.exe zipfldr.dll

Press ENTER.  See if that fixes things.

  • I can't put the photoshop CS6 as default program to open jpg files on my windows 7 64 bit computer?

I reintalled 3 times for CS6, but the default program associated with the jpg file is always unknown application.

I try to change the default program, I see the photoshop cs6 icon in the Adobe program folder.

    But just can be selected.

I recommend you contact Support Adobe for this playing with registry is very dangerous, that your computer may crash.

Still if you want to try, first create system restore point and backup of your registry, just in case something goes wrong.

In regedit: go to Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications and find your .exe name.

Sail under its name of shell > open > order. In the default change its location to the actual location of the executable file, press OK and then try and reassociate the file type as you normally would.

  • Cannot change the default program for opening .dll

For some reason any, since I first linked the default program to open files .dll with Visual C++ 2010 Express (which is not truly attempt open, but instead of it gave me a message somewhere near the lines of "File not supported - Type does not open", incidentally) by chance I could not change since. I took a screenshot of the dialog box to try to change (URL below after all), but I noticed that the box was grayed out (the theme I have is a modified version of the classic Windows theme, but on 7, to clarify the operating system). I also tried to select a file after having hit the "Browse" button, but it didn't open anything. I tried several programs in the present to open, much less to change the default value (these are two notable examples): Netbeans - primarily an IDE for Java, but can open binary files even if she's not actually modify them (note: I changed absolutely nothing on any of them even if I has modified it to make it the default program but this problem affects more than just the ones) (, and it did not start until the last default) and Notepad. I went through the 'Open with' dialog box, and this is where I first encountered the problem of it (described above) outside the Control Panel, which it wouldn't let me change the association of file of it in particular, even if I didn't have one of these questions with any other type of file I tried to change, before or after this madness.

You can do CD player as your default application by browsing in Edition > Preferences > under categories, select the "Général" and at the bottom of the window, you must select an option which reads "set as default PDF Manager" under the label of startup application and click OK.

    Hi weskifmtwo,

This is because the bridge have no script enabled for Photoshop CC 2015 start.

  • Why can't I open INDD files using exactly the same InDesign CS6 product I've used to create them?

I tried to modify the work sent by another designer. He sent me the INDD files (as part of the packages) but I could not open in my version of Windows of InDesign CS6. My computer told me that I had not any software installed that could open the file. While searching on the forums, I thought it could use InDesign CC, that for some reason any crazy I can't open INDD files created using the CC version and so I have to send him the IDML files. OK, fine, he sent me the IDML files.

IDML files open correctly in my version of InDesign CS6. Large. They open in the form of documents not saved, so I save them as files InDesign CS6. OK, well. Except that I can't open files INDD, that I just created. Yet once, my computer tells me that I don't have any software installed that can open the file. But how can this be? I just create the files using this software!

If I do a test. I can't open a file that I create from scratch? N ° it seems that I can't open INDD files in my version of Windows of InDesign CS6, even if I create them from scratch. Can anyone help?

I found an answer here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2604646

    1. I opened Windows Explorer and went to tools >... Folder Options > File Types.
    2. I selected INDD and click Advanced.
    3. I chose the action open and press edit.
    4. I went to Adobe InDesign (for some reason any, that adobe does not appear in Program Files by default, but if I go to Program Files and then type Adobe in the zone file name and touch open then I can browse the Adobe programs).
    5. I chose InDesign and press open.
    6. Then back in the editing window of action, I added '%1' in the application used to perform action text box, so that all read: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS6\InDesign.exe" '%1 '.
    7. I entered indesign in the Application text box and then click OK.
    8. InDesign CS6 will now open INDD files. Finally!
