Degraded Windows Vista

The look of everything in my computer is an old classic Windows. I have moved/fact nothing to make this change. I don't no how to fix it. At first I thought it was because he missed a few updates from the previous night. I tried to fix simply by rebooting. It does not work. The program is a Windows Vista Basic. Had not had this problem before, just now you'd be grateful for any help.

I googled the problem and restored my system point to yesterday before the update. Everything works fine now and vista theme return. Can try it yourself?

I just and it did not work.  I wonder if it will be corrected by the next update from Microsft

I've now sorted by select the Windows Vista theme

    Hello OscarH1993.

All first to the top make sure you have the latest video drivers installed for your machine, if you post back with what graphics card you are using, we can help you further.

Symptoms that you describe are almost always because of old video drivers or even worse, a faulty hardware or overheating.  Change just the OS probably won't help any.

Get the latest drivers for rule than to go out and give the events a good clean out.

  • What is the problem with Windows Vista?

It's Windows Vista just bad or what!

Sorry for my title, but I have had serious problems lately and it has been really frustrating.  This all started when I got a game, Civilization V, to be exact, as a gift.  Now, I use a laptop that is not done for the games, but I am able to run games of different strategy on a low setting without problem.  When I installed Civilization V, however, it did not work, saying that I had to download Windows Vista Service Pack 2.

The reason why I didn't have SP2 was because I disabled the auto-update feature.  I did not want Microsoft to auto-updated my computer because it just add more files to my computer - right which may be unnecessary, i.e. IE and take hard drive space.  However, because I really wanted to play the game, I was like, so can download SP2.

This is when the problems started to arise.  First of all, somehow, I'm done with DirectX 11.  From my understanding, XP is associated with DirectX 9, Vista with DirectX 10 and Windows 7 with DirectX11.  I have Windows Vista, but I have DirectX 11 is installed.  How is that possible?  This in turn makes Civilization V quite unstable.

But, I'm not really upset to have the correct version of DirectX, because in all honesty, I have accidentally installed when I installed the game.

WHAT I'M REALLY UPSET is how SP2 has completely messed up my computer.  First of all, he did my laptop completely unstable.  My starting times vary.  Sometimes, I have a blue screen when I start my computer.  Also, it has substantially increased the amount of energy/process my uses of the computer.  While my laptop has a skinny 1 HR autonomy on SP1, it has now a little 15 min autonomy on SP2.

But perhaps what really upsets me is that since I installed SP2, I've lost half a gig of hard drive space whenever I restart my computer.  And since my computer has become unstable, I have to reboot more often then usual.  I got 10 GB of free hard disk space and now I only have 200 MB.  I tried 'disk cleanup', but now my computer has only 4 gigs.  Where's the other 6 GB?

And the worst, Vista is that research is absolutely useless.  Find recent files that have been created (since if I lose 500 MB every time you start, I need to create some sort of file), but my search comes up with no results.

I write because I need solutions to these three things:

    (1) how can I make SP2 uses less memory and processes?  I wish that my life of battery 1 h back instead of 15 min.

    (2) MOST IMPORTANT: How can I prevent my computer whenever I restart the loss of 500 MB of hard drive?

    (3) what are the means that would allow me to search my computer so that I can understand why I keep losing hard drive space?

I can't believe that Microsoft will come out with an "update" which downgrades your computer actually.  And I am sure that I do not have a virus, because I have not downloaded anything / visited all websites summary recently at 90%.

    Thank you.

Access your site from manufacturers of portable, specific to your model and update all the drivers available.

If it does not apply to you:

Installation of XP instead of Vista:

Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...

If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

If Yes, download and save to a CD or Flash drive.

Then buy a disc XP and license.

Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.

Then follow the steps below to do a clean install.

    http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp

Once installed, reload ALL your other programs of original media, or download again.

Reload all drivers and utilities for your motherboard.

See if that will solve your problems of compatibility:

First thing to do is to check its Vista compatibility at the link above, and if not to see what patches/solutions are available from its manufacturer...

If this is not Vista compatible, read the info on the link above.
It works for some programs, but not all.

This applies to software programs, NOT hardware drivers.

If it's Vista compatible > uninstall it > Re-download/save to your desktop > right click on the setup.exe > run as admin.

    Hello.

I have a problem with my Windows Vista to Windows 10 computer upgrade.
Microsoft has said that it cannot obtain free Windows 10 update, if you have Windows 7/8.1, but you should be able to get on Windows Vista, I think...

  • When does end for Windows Vista?

I have 9 that is set as my default browser and understand the extended support will end in April 2017 according to Microsoft. I was not able to upgrade to Windows 7 on this P.C. & would like to know if there is no date scheduled for Firefox Support in Windows Vista? I set Firefox as my browser default if Vista will be supported for several years if taken in charge as it is now. What kind of support will be offered, as appropriate, in the future?

A date has not been set. Actually WinXP SP2 & 3 are still supported by Mozilla for Firefox. I doubt if Mozilla support for Vista will end anytime in the near future.

Overall, Mozilla does not select arbitrary deadlines to end operating system, Windows 2000 was the last to fall by the wayside on the need for Mozilla to update the program that was used to set up Firefox. The new version has not only supported Windows 2000 or Windows XP and WinXP SP1.

  • 13.6.0 is the same in Windows Vista like in Linux?

A friend uses Thunderbird 13.6.0 under Linux. I get emails on AOL, and because they come as text files and not HTML, AOL is able to display them with wildly different lengths of lines, never more than 72 characters, regardless of the width of the window and no graphics (smilies). The 72 character line length, which is the default in Thunderbird plain text seems to confuse AOL mail view. This does not happen in Yahoo Mail or G-Mail. I suggested that he could check the box to Rich Text / HTML and not text gross to < < tools > account settings > Composition and addressing > box > >. He said that there are there. We both have the same version (13.6.0). Linux is involved in this? His version 13.6.0 offer different settings? I can find the checkbox here on Thunderbird with Windows Vista, but we can't seem to find out its based on Linux version of Thunderbird.
