  I am currently on an iMac under Snow Leopard 10.6.8 (2.4 Ghz C2D, 4 GB of RAM, with VMware 3.1.3). I have Windows XP as a Boot Camp partition, but recently, I've downloaded the tool VMware Converter from VMware and I am now running XP via a Vitural Machine (saved in the My Documents folder).

  I can't install Lion because it cannot create the recovery disk and there is an error with my scores (I don't remember the exact wording). I'm guessing that it's because of my Boot Camp partition that has XP installed on it, which is no longer compatible with Lion.

  My question is: since I converted the Boot Camp partition in a Virtual Machine, can I remove the Boot Camp partition and still be able to run XP?

  The short answer is Yes.

  The longer answer is to make sure that you run only a normal file based Virtual Machine and a virtual Boot Camp Machine partition not before deleting.

  It's on my iMac at work, and I rely on XP for 75% of my work, so I make sure that I always have access to XP via the Virtual Machine.

  If there is a system of work, then you shouldn't be move to Lion still and wait for at least the first version of Lion and a version of VMware Fusion, which is officially certified to be fully compatible with Mac OS X Lion before the upgrade.

  So here's the situation:

  I've been subscribing to creative cloud (CC) for a few years now and I have the 'apps' installed on Windows (using Boot Camp on my Macbook Pro). Why is it I am running Windows on a Mac? Because for various reasons I ;-)

  A few months ago, I cancelled the subscription but decided to begin to subscribe again. That's when the problems started. Premiere Pro (which is the program I use most often) started to ask forlicensi ng/registration and registration from cc. whenever I started PP I to connect to CC with the result "Thank you for licensing/save...". "or something like that. The other day, I was in a meeting with a client to review changes in a project of PP and suddenly it does not help to to connect to CC. When I was persistent and told them that they really help me because I'm in a hurry and that the customer is frustrated he actually hung. I called support again and this operator says 'We have no instructions on how to help users with problems in Boot Camp'.

  I tried PP uninstall and reinstall, but still get stuck in the Sign-in-loop. Could this something in the registry that I need to change or remove?

  I installed PP on my Mac OS without any problem. The thing is that I guess I can't open old projects created on the installation of Windows of PP.

  Looks like the Support of Adobe has solved the problem. I called the third time and this operator is out of the box.

  I had to delete some folders (PCB Adobe, Cache SL, SL Store), and then start any application as administrator (Windows) and log in.

• Internal displacement of Boot Camp on an external disk to disk

  I have a MBP with OS 10.6.6 2.66 and have a partition to Boot Camp 250 GB current where I am running W7 64 bit and do so very well for a long time - thanks Fusion!  I would like to make the transition to an implementation of virtual machine all I need is more native starting capability in Windows.  Due to the size of my HD (500 GB to Mac and the other half partitioned for Boot Camp as described).  I don't have enough disk space to perform the conversion directly on my internal HD.  I downloaded the execution mode of the conversion on an external drive.  Oonce I did that and can run the new virtual machine on the external hard drive, I would like to move while VM back into my internal HD (after of course remove the Boot Camp Partition.  So here are my questions:

  1. How can I move a virtual machine to an external drive on my internal HD?

  2. what impact this process will have on my current Windows authorization?

  3. I guess I simply launch Boot Camp assistant to delete this partition before moving the virtual machine on my internal HD.  Is this correct?

  Thanks for any help and sorry if this has already been answered somewhere.  I tried searching but have not imagined the exact scenario I describe, and it's all the mission critical something for me.

  When VMware Fusion creates a Virtual Machine is stores the various files the compromise of the Virtual Machine in a Package of Document which is really nothing more then a regular directory or a file with the extension .vmwarevm and because this extension is registered with Launch Services, Mac OS X manages this directory/folder or Package of Document in a special way compared to a directory/file without extension.  BTW the .vmwarevm extension is not absolutely necessary, and as long as the files that make up the Virtual Machine exists and file .vmx (virtual machine configuration) knows where the files (VHD) of hard then the Virtual Machine works.  In other words, a Virtual Machine without any snapshots require only the hard files and .vmx file to start and then additional files/folders are created in the directory/folder that contains or the Document Package necessary as changes in configuration of the Virtual Machine is running.

  When you use Paragon go virtual to create the VM in an appropriately named folder, you need to create in advance it will contain any file .vmx (virtual machine configuration) and hard (VHD) files and if you want after editing with TextEdit the .vmx file add the parameters mentioned above you can then add the extension of .vmwarevm it will be normal by default which creates of VMware Fusion.

  Not Boot Camp virtual machine based on the default for a normal file location, run as a Virtual Machine, the virtual computers folder located in the folder Documents in your Home folder, however, you can put the Virtual Machine no matter where you have fully read & write access.  Personally I never use the default location and put all my virtual machines in the virtual computers folder to the root of the Macintosh HD or the root of any drive external FireWire I use.  I also exclude this folder from Time Machine never leave my Virtual Machines be backed up by Time Machine, since it is a fact that Time Machine is not 100% reliable backing up/restoring VMS in all circumstances.  Also back up Virtual Machines via Time Machine of disk/time intensive and wastes a lot of space for something that may be corrupted and worthless time to restore it.

  My method is to always have all the user data fully backed up in order to go to any computer, I chose and the access and the use of my data is not required to keep backup of Virtual Machines in their entirety and instead keep a copy Virgin at the time of build or controlled versions updated since the original version as it deems necessary.  Yes I might have to run a few updates and install an app or two, but in my opinion, keeping user data in a State that is accessible from any computer, I chose and the ability to recover quickly if / when necessary with a clean Virtual Machine the best way forward.  I even keep a set of scripts with a few clicks and a few seconds, make changes to the OS settings and or applications so the environment is to my taste and not the default values.  My own version of files and the Transfer Wizard settings if you and use on physical and Virtual Machines.

  • I had Windows XP Pro SP2 on my Boot Camp partition, but somehow ended up 'inaccessible' SigmaTel audio device and the Leopard installation DVD could not repair it.  I imported this partition to Boot Camp in the Fusion as a virtual machine.  This virtual machine is now stored on the external hard drive in "/ Volumes/ExternHFS/_CCCnonBackup/virtualMachines/Boot partition.vmwarevm"+ Camp.»  This virtual machine still works when loading in the merger, but the sound does not work, nor made a called M-audio Transit USB connector.  That's why I decided to create a new partition in Boot Camp with a SigmaTel audio device cool.

  • Using wizard Boot Camp in Leopard, I erased my Boot Camp partition and then recreated with a new installation of Windows XP Pro SP2.  (By the way, I've formatted this partition in NTFS.)  This Boot Camp partition is the device of SigmaTel installed and accessible from the control panel.

  So I wanted to make a virtual machine of the new Boot Camp partition.  When I opened the merger, I highlighted the new Boot Camp partition down and clicked on the arrow of comments are starting to the right.  A window saying "Vmware Fusion prepares your Boot Camp partition to run as a virtual machine.  This may take a few minutes.  This will be possible once. "That window remained open for 45 minutes.  Finally, I closed merge by clicking the choice of menu to quit Vmware Fusion.

  When I highlighted this new Boot Camp partition in the VM library and you press the delete key, absolutely nothing changed, that I could see.  Right click on the list of this score showed that the menu choice 'delete' is gray.

  Then I closed the merger, and then manually moving the file to the trash "/ Users/yangguizi/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines / Boot Camp / '.

  The next time I opened the merger, a new icon for the Boot Camp partition has been displayed at the bottom, with the subtitle "Powered Off".  When I clicked on the icon start Guest, a new folder/Boot Camp / was created in the same place, and the never-ending open window showing "Vmware Fusion prepares your Boot Camp partition to run as a virtual machine.  This may take a few minutes.  This will be possible once. " Blah, blah, blah.  If the cycle turned up.

  I am at a loss what to try next.  Here are three assumptions about the problem:

  1. Fusion has been confused by the three communities during which I virtual machines.

• Fusion has been confused by the fact that I have, potentially, two virtual machines called "Boot Camp partition".  The older is actually a virtual machine hard disk external.

• When I installed XP in the Boot Camp partition, the external Firewire drive was running. Then installing Windows saw much more of partitions on which XP could in theory have been installed.  This may have confused merge somehow, even if I successfully installed XP on partition C, which was 32 GB.

Did fix you this problem?  Even if you haven't, what do you suggest me I try next?

You can just get rid of the all/Users/lincoln/Library/Application Support / directory / Machines/virtual VMware Fusion; It should all be recreated. The virtual machine to help naos is than the pretreatment of Boot Camp. You don't want to get rid of all the of them, the only one in the specified directory. For example, there is a blank template in Applications/VMware Fusion.app whence that of your home folder.

  You can connect an external drive of ExFat formatted. The OSX and Windows can read/write on a disk formatted ExFat.

  A virtual machine has its advantages, as does a Boot Camp facility. A virtual machine allows the simultaneous OS, any necessary initialization to change operating systems. Data can be shared between operating systems more easily. Computer such as memory resources are shared in a VM for applications environment to run slower.

  Installation of Boot Camp allows Windows to run in native mode by using all of the system resources, so apps will go faster. But to change operating systems, a reboot is required. It is more difficult to share data.

  I had a windows 8.1 installed on boot camp and ran out of space on windows, so I tried to extend the space by adding a new partition on mac and then merge on windows using the "minitool' but when I rebooted with now that the ALT key was not the boot camp partition...

  I then started the mac and changed the boot disk in boot camp and restarted and it gave me a message "there is no disk bootable..." or something like that.

  It's really important not to lose the windows and more important still do not have to format the new laptop please (because I had a similar problem before Re: Partitioning a Hard Drive Error on MacBook Pro)

  I tried to check for similar discussions but seemed to I'll do it is harder to resolve because I do not understand most of what is said and was afraid to do worse.

  I understand the partition Boot Camp have been adjusted and you are no longer able to access the windows on your MacBook Pro.  Because you cannot access side Windows of your Mac after setting, you must recreate your Boot Camp partition and reinstall Windows on your Mac.

  I'm trying to install 10 Windows with Boot Camp Assistant. I'm exactly as shown in all directions. I have a 2012 end iMac 21.5 ". It has a 1 terabyte internal hard drive. I've updated to the latest version of Mac OS x. I downloaded a legal Windows 10 professional image, although it seems not matter since I can't install it. Anyway. I followed all the instructions of the Boot Camp Assistant. I use an external hard drive for WININSTALL. Wizard Boot Camp works very well until it's time to create the partition on the hard disk called Bootcamp. It creates the partition, but does not do anything in this partition. Wizard Boot Camp attempts to boot from the new partition, but obviosly, there is nothing there. I tried to start the WININSTALL disc, who starts and wants to install Windows 10, but he cannot or will not be installed on the Bootcamp partition. You know what says the error message, because others have told you what he said, so I won't repeat. Obviously, Boot Camp Assistant does not use GPT, but rather of MBR to create the Bootcamp partition. I have tried many, many, many times to use Boot Camp Assistant to install 10 Windows internal hard disk, but each time he did exactly the same thing. I guess I'm crazy for trying to do the same thing so many times. Of course, there is something wrong with my iMac, because it seems that others are able to install Windows 10 on their iMac. So, would someone please tell me how to fix the problem so that I can install 10 Windows internal hard disk from the iMac?

  BCA is not supposed to, until the Windows Installer starts and copies the files to the internal drive to put Windows on the internal drive. WININSTALL contains all the files needed to install Windows.

  EFI boot needs a GPT disk, the BIOS legacy mode needs a hybrid MBR (collection on a GPT disk standard). Your Mac 2012 preUEFI supports only the MBR properly. EFI boot not work correctly and cause driver problems.

  Run the wizard of BC and delete the current partition. Disconnect the external storage, perform the following two procedures

  Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac - Apple Support

  How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

  Run the BCA and use a flashdrive USB2 (not a HARD drive). The USB key will be erased/formatted. The content of the ISO or Windows 10 DVD will be copied on this flash drive with drivers Apple supporting restart environment that supports your keyboard and mouse and display. Do not interrupt the installation in any way using the Alt/Option key.

  The first thing we want to make sure is that all your data is safe. You can perform a backup using Time Machine and an external hard drive. Some people recommend an external hard drive twice the size of your internal hard drive, because finally he fills with the backups, but as long as you have a car large enough to store all the data currently on your Mac that will suffice. Use this article to help make a backup of your Mac: use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac. This backup of your Mac partition only. You will need to use another method to back up the Windows partition if you need.

  Once you have a backup of your data, please see this help article: install Windows 7 and older versions on your Mac with Boot Camp.   Hey everybody! Yesterday I tried to install Windows on my MacBook Air 128 GB (latest edition) using Boot Camp. Boot Camp worked well, until in the middle to partition hard drive when the computer turns off. When I started the computer once again there was no sign of Windows anywhere. However, when I looked in my computer storage I have only 77GB available (the amount I selected for the mac OS during the partitioning, the rest of the space was for Windows). Online, I read that it's very easy to delete the partition, and that all you had to do was run Boot Camp again and restore the hard drive. However, when I try this I get the message that I must have at least 50 GB of free space available. I easily have enough space available when you include section partition that I can't access, but I don't have 50GB of space on the side of Mac partition. Does anyone have advice on how I should fix this problem? Is the only way I can to delete things as much as possible out of storage on Mac? I already tried this and remove as much as possible get to 50 GB of free space, including the section 'other '. What is the only way to proceed? If someone has any advice on how to remove unwanted useless in the section "others"? Thank you so much in advance!

  I tried to install Windows 7 on my iMac 2015 but during the installation of windows it guests that the partition must be formatted in a different way.

  Now when I try to use Boot Camp once again, I get this message:

  The startup disk must be formatted in a single volume in Mac OS extended (journaled) or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows.

  The Macs listed to install Windows 7 and previous versions on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple supported support W7. 2015 macs don't support W7.

  The only supported method to remove Windows from a Fusion using Mac drive is Boot Camp: Remove Windows from your Mac . Do not use disk utility.

  You seem to have tried a deletion of THE (not deleting a partition), at least once. Your BC partition is now a HFS partition. Convert it back into a FAT32 partition on THE and then try to remove it by using the link provided.

  If you are unable to remove using BCA, then use the steps of the Re: doesn't have windows via bootcamp 8.1 installation .

  Disconnect external drives until Windows is completely installed.  If you are prompted for a USB key, use only a not a USB HDD, flash drive.

  You seem to have deleted the partition of BC using disk utility, which is not a good idea. Do not mix BC Assistant and disk utility.

  In the current state, disk1s4-disk1s7 should be merged into one FAT32 partition, if you want to re - use for BC/Windows.

• Windows 10 anniversary + Boot Camp = Assembly is more Mac partition

  I have a MacBook Pro retina (end 2013) with Mac OS El Capitan, dual-boot with Windows with Boot Camp installed 10. Everything worked fine until I installed upgrading Windows 10 anniversary today. now Windows Monte is no longer the Mac partition. I reinstalled with success the latest Boot Camp drivers, but Windows still show me the Mac partition. (Starting in Mac OS works fine).

  Everyone knows about this problem? Anyone know of a solution or workaround?

  ... and he mentions a MiniTool Partition Wizard app. I'm looking on the site; the open air. I would try to download Windows and without committing to changes, driver changes, etc. he 'sees' the HFS partition +?
