It's boring.

Thank you is advanced, Charles

    Hello!

I'm trying to install Windows on my iMac (late 2013, running 10.11.6) without success.  I created the ISO to a flash drive, but when I try to use the Assistant Boot camp, I am referred to the following screen:

I did my best to study solutions. The cause, by apple support discussions, is that there is another partition of pre-empting (stop) the wizard boot camp partitioning the hard drive.  I studied the partitions on my HDD after unplugging all devices and found this:

This shows the main partition: Macintosh HD, the bootcamp partition: BOOTCAMP; and 2 unknown partitions: "Apple HDD ST100DM003 Media" and the same * M004.  I was able to delete the first Apple ST100DM003 HARD disk partition and ran first aid on the fusion drive after that the second he would not remove.  Also, I can't delete the boot camp partition.  I keep getting the same message when I try to install windows on a partition of the fuser unit using Boot Camp Assistant - "Startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition".

    Any suggestions?

Please after the release of the following OSX Terminal commands.

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

  • Terminal command to change the wallpaper does not

I recently did a program that changed my desktop wallpaper according to the time of day.  He worked by entering a terminal command that looked like something like this:

osascript-e ' tell application "Finder" to the image of the desktop value "/ path/to/file.jpg" as a POSIX file '

It was working fine, until recently.  Now when I enter the command to define 'fichier.jpg', it works, and defines it as my desktop background as it is supposed to, but when I replace it with a new image of the same name and path, the command affects my wallpaper the original image of the same name.  When I went to change my wallpaper in system preferences, it showed in my new defined image preview area, even if it wasn't.  I'm doing something wrong or is there a problem with my Mac?

osascript-e ' tell application "Finder" to set the image of the Office of POSIX file "/ path/to/image.jpg" '

On OS X 10.11.6 and by operating in the Terminal, the foregoing has changed the image of the office immediately whenever it is run with a new image.

  • Where do you find the descriptions of the Terminal command options?

    Hello everyone

OS X Terminal displays help if you add the option - help and introduction to the Shell script gives details of each Terminal command I find useful:

    https://developer.Apple.com/library/Mac/documentation/opensource/conceptual/Shel lScripting/CommandLInePrimer/line of command...

However, none of them tells you the function of each of the options such as '-f' and '-I ' to 'rm' command

  • How can I see what changes I made to the terminal command?

I don't know what changes I made to the terminal command and I want to see if I can cancel an any of them because I have inadvertently artificial virus. I use the latest version of Mac OS X (10.11.3) on a Macbook Pro of the retina. I have reviewed the reset of the computer to the factory settings, but I don't know if that will clear the terminal the previous commands. Thank you in advance!

Terminal Server can 'remember' commands you have issued. Open Terminal and type this command

    history

What you get is a complete list of commands executed when using Terminal. If you don't you probably erased from history or abnormally closed the Terminal application.

Alternatively, you can paste this list here so that we can analyze what you were doing.

  • Cannot run most of the terminal commands

Recently the Terminal application on my iMac has been upward. When I opened the app, it displays the message: "-bash: touch: command not found". I am more able to run ruby of the IRB of terminal or access. Even simple commands such as ls train "-bash: ls: command not found". The terminal command, only that I was able to run so far is pwd. This iMac is relatively new to me. I bought at the flea market in December, upgraded the RAM and restored using Migration assistant. I have no idea about the competence of this iMac until I bought it. Yesterday I installed the El Capitan update 10.11.3. • Can someone tell me what I should type in the screen command prompt to access the setupapi log so I can delete the files that stops me reinstall windows xp?

My dell PC crashed then I followed the news online & tried to reinstall windows XP from my original CD. However, the keyboard & mouse stop working when the installation gets to the 33 minute section which requires me to a box on the screen. I saw tips online who says lets you check the setupapi log & delete the file question (s) that prevents the installation but it required that use you SHIFT & F10 to enter the command prompt screen, but my keyboard is isolated at this time. So I went in the recovery console (I think it's the command prompt)?  but I don't know which of the listed commands to use to perform the advice. I would be very grateful for help.

During startup, I get an error message that the registry database cannot find a file and modify registry to delete the reference to the file in the registry.  How can I do this?

    Hello

    • What were the changes made before the problem occurred?

I recommend you perform the clean boot.

Configuration of your system in a clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

  • Delete the registry via the command prompt keys

I uninstalled a program on my computer, and I want to remove all the remaining files, registry keys and values of that particular program to the registry via the command prompt. Y at - it a command line that can scan and remove all the remaining files, registry keys and values of this particular program of the whole registry via the command prompt in only once.

    Please help me.

If the uninstall program is correctly written, then it will do it all. If this isn't the case, you will have to do it manually. Although it is possible to write a script that will scan the registry for some channels, it is not a trivial task. Running one such script would be quite risky because it could easily delete the wrong registry key.

Also note that the unused files or registry keys not used do not slow down a machine, contrary to popular belief. Purge of these undesirable things might give you a welcome warm feeling inside, but he has no effect on the performance of the PC.

  • command racadm iDRAC7 to delete the user indexed

iDRAC7 command racadm to delete the user indexed?

    Background: R720 using the iDRAC7, 1.57.57 firmware

Tried to find a way to remove a user account from the DRAC interface.  You can add a new user quite easily, but it doesn't seem to be an option to delete a user.

I searched the web and found the following RACADM command several times, line entry but it doesn't seem to work with iDRAC7...

    Syntax: racadm config-g o -i ""

but when I tried to use this command with the NULL entry [""], it is not accepted

    PS > racadm config-g cfgUserAdmin-o cfgUserAdminUserName-i 3 «»
ERROR: Invalid syntax. An object value must be specified.

This ability has been removed from iDRAC7?  Is it possible to remove a user from iDRAC7?

    Update:

Tried suggestion of Daniel by reorganizing the parameters, but unfortunately I do not have the same results.

    PS > racadm config-g cfguseradmin-i 3 o cfguseradminusername «»
ERROR: Invalid syntax. An object value must be specified.

However, it occurred to me that I was issuing the command in PowerShell via Windows Server 2012 OS and that could be the problem.

I re-tried the original syntax using a SSH connection instead, and that seemed to do the trick.

    /Admin1-> racadm config-g cfgUserAdmin-o cfgUserAdminUserName-i 3 «»
Value of the object successfully changed

It seems that MS PowerShell interprets the entry incorrectly – maybe he uses a different character set... Note: it works via PowerShell IF you put a value (ex: 123456), he's not only the possibility of NULL value.

Can be a value of further investigation or at least a technical note.

  • delete the partition after a failed installation of windows 10

    Hello world

How is it possible to delete partitions, if in disk utility, there is no possibility to click on the '-' key?

So I made a failure (several) attempts to install windows 10 on my new iMAC.

I could download an ISO of windows and start the bootcamp assistant.

In the last attempt of last night, I selected the bootcamp in windows installation partition, however, installing windows said it was impossible to read the hard drive.

I then re-formatted this partition (BOOTCAMP) in the installation of windows, and after that, still could not read.

Then, I deleted the bootcamp partition in windows and re-created a partition on "unallocated space" in the windows installation.

Installing windows 10 still wouldn't move forward then I've bailed out and went back to OS X with the hope of turning it back on (again) by deleting partitions.

I was unable to delete the Mac partition.

Then, I deleted this partition (the one original bootcamp) and reformatted as OS x journaled. At least now, I can see the Partition.

However in Diskutil, I was then impossible to delete this Partition. There is also a small partition 16 MB that cannot be erased.

Wizard bootcamp will be past a pop up station: the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

So I will now try to delete these partitions (the boy and the training camp original one) merge into the original and give then installing bootcamp, another go when I have a lot of energy!

any help would be appreciated. I'm a little cautious to use Terminal command lines for fear of ruining my new computer.

    1. your iMac has a Fusion drive?

    2. don't mix to disk utility and Wizard of BC. They can lead to a host of issues.

    3. If you do not typos in the Terminal, they provide much more rich in detail. You have a Time Machine backup, put in place?

4 can you post the output of the following Terminal commands?

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.

  • where can I find dashboard items in the finder or terminal?

I need to find the content of the dashboard in the finder or terminal to eliminate one of its elements.

By mistake I installed something that isn't even a widget, but instantly opens web browser, then any time, I opened the dashboard, a second later it closes and safari opens. It's too little time to click the button "-" and remove the false widget. It seems that the only way to get rid of it is to get rid of it at the level of the finder or terminal, not management dashboard.

    Help, please

This procedure will reset the configuration of your dashboard to the default value.

Back up all data before proceeding.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

    defaults delete com.apple.dashboard layer-gadgets && killall Dock

Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting.

Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal.
