  I had almost the same experience, but the deleted mail did not reappear in the Inbox, but in the hub.
  Then I stopped the synchronization of deleted file and the problem was gone. But deleted on Priv items do not go in the folder deleted on the server then. Accidentally deleted messages cannot be recovered.

  If you move it to a folder on the Mac, not in the iCloud account, you can remove safely icloud.

  From your post, I understand that old emails are deleted after a month. This can be due to behaviors of the mailbox defined for your iCloud account.

  The following article explains how to look at these settings. My suspicion is that the section "permanently erase deleted messages when:" is set at one month old.

  Use Mail preferences to set or change options for e-mail accounts , you use mail and to work with messages and mailboxes. Choose Mail > Preferences, and then click a preferences panel for the options:

  OS = XP. Server IMAP (1and1). After a few household on Outlook Express 6, I deleted a large number of files. I also go to Tools/Options/Maint/Clean Up Now and emails compacted. Nothing is checked in the Maintenance tab. Now, all the emails that I remove from OE stopped going to the basket. They simply disappear. I can drag emails to trash and they are visible. I have remove usually by highlighting the button Delete email (s) and pressing, then later to purge. To try to fix it, I deleted the "imap 1and1.deleted messages dbx' and 'delete items dbx '. But the I deleted files have disappeared, the .dbx file that they were in did appear to reduce much (or at all). I restarted. If I delete e-mails from 1and1 webmail they go in the trash and are visible on OE. I hope I gave you enough information to help out me. 1and1 tried but it was useless, I'm afraid.   I'm unsure of your Setup, as I don't know is that 1and1, and OE has a record of spam itself.  Ensure that messages you delete are not just being scored in reading and you have the updated files to read messages to hide | Current view.  If this isn't the issue, then try to go to the file. Identities and setup a new identity to give you a new message store and then add your accounts here and see if they behave properly.  If so, then use file | Import | Messages to bring them from the old identity.

  If View | Current view | Show all messages is checked, then you can enter in the message store (turn on the display of the hidden files and folders and uncheck Hide extensions of the file types to know under control panel |) Folder options | View) and look for the eml files that represent messages.  See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm message storage location can be found via Tools | Options | Maintenance | Advanced | Storage folder.

  Unless the e-mail accounts are based icloud.  That is to say, they end in @icloud.com, then without removing the Mac not keep them in iCloud because they are not in first place.

  You should always be able to access through their respective clients to Web Mail however.

  If they are based iCloud.com, then Yes you can remove form Mac and they are accessible via http://icloud.com by logging into each account there.

Unfortunately, I am not computer and find it hard to understand certain things, when I left the school that they had just spent the abacus. I appreciate your time and assistance but trying to find tools > account settings > server settings, I think I must be looking in the wrong place. The only place where I found tools was clicking on the three bars in the upper right corner of Thunderbird, and account settings he had only undesirable parameters not a bin folder.
