  • RN104 - problem of "Delete inactive volumes to use the disc." #27199519

I have what seems to be similar to many other questions.

I have a RN104 with two 2 TB drives using X-RAID RAID 1 (mirror). I also activated the encryption. A couple of days, we had a power outage and the ReadyNAS close.

I plugged the USB with the encryption key and he started upward but am now getting the error "delete inactive volumes to use the disk. Drive #1,2 '. And we can access is no longer the actions that have been setup on the NAS.

All the suggestions/help? We are out of the period of our support.

Just to close the loop and maybe help someone else who is having a problem, here is what he has done for me.

I end up paying for support, however ultimately my problem was that when I copied/pasted the encryption key from our secure and saved on the USB password manager, the key had a newline character hidden line the end of it (an artifact of the copy/paste from the password manager) which was originally not to be able to decrypt the volume. I had to use a hex editor to view and delete the character that is hidden at the end of the key, then my volume was fine. So, if you have the above error AND you use an encrypted volume AND you have copied/pasted your encryption key from another source to a USB key, check the key for you ensure that no character hidden inside.

I had a problem of tracking where we couldn't access or connect to one of the actions. Support has fixed this issue for me, the samba configuration file was empty, for some reason, support it repaired and we are back in business.

  • What happens in rehearsals so I delete a volume

I have a volume on my EqualLogic called HOSTA. I changed all the VMs that have been stored within their own respective volumes. HOSTA treated him also replicated offsite to another EqualLogic.

If I delete this volume, HOSTA, on the original EQL, replication will remain on the another EQL?

I would start to reproduce the new volumes and make them all over here until I have remove the HOSTA replications.  But, due to bandwidth restrictions, I will have both on the same switch to EQL and perform the initial synchronization. But before that, I would like to release unused space so that I can finish the same job with another volume, called HOSTB.  In this way, I can get all the initial replication completed on a single weekend.

    Hello

If you remove the side volume source, it will remove the replicas.  You want to pause the replication for these volumes, then permanently to promote or to clone replica.  Then, it will remain until you remove them as any other volume.

    Kind regards

  • How can I delete free volumes of vmware

So I have volumes like this: san1vol1 and san1vol2. I have all the data out of them and now they want to "remove me VMware." I'm sure it's easy, but I can't find out how to do it. Help appriaited as always, thank you!

Do you use multiple hosts? Using vCenter? What is the version of your hosts?

In any case, you can take a look at: dismantling a LUN or detachment of a unit of data warehouse/of VMware ESXi 5.x of the multiple hosts (2004605)

    Thank you

Old post I know but I had this problem on several of my removable HDs, and finally I managed to remove the 'System Volume Information' folder:

DO NOT DO THIS ON YOUR C: DRIVE OR YOUR WINDOWS HARD DRIVE!

Right click on desktop, and then click [New-> shortcut]
    Write: cmd.exe

Click [next] and then click [finish]

Right click on cmd.exe icon, and then click 'run as administrator'
Now select the external hard drive (f: in my case)

    C:\>f:

Yes now the following (you can copy paste):
    F:\>attrib s h/s/d
    F:\>attrib - r/s/d
    F:\>Rd "System Volume Information" / s
Are System Volume Information, you sure (Y/N)? There

    And you're DONE ;-)

  • Cannot delete the ghost volume

NAA.6006016003c02800dc0bc7f0b6f0e311 is a fibre channel LUN of our VNX5500 presented to our 5.1U2 7 vSphere hosts.  He is identified as LUN 0 seen through the vSphere on all 7 host one Client is an empty data store.

When I remove the data store and detach the LUN it greys out as expected.  I'll then the the VNX and only remove LUNS from the storage pool, which in turn deletes it hosts during a whole 'Rescan '.

Naa.6006016003c02800dc0bc7f0b6f0e311 of time disappears, a new LUN 0 naa.50060160bde00e5850060160bde00e58 appears and there is no size related and there is no new data store.  If I choose 'Storage to add' this 'Phantom' volume is not available and I can take it apart and put it together, but there is nothing there and it is not really related to any real storage.  It's just a ghost LUNS in vSphere.

If I add the real naa.600... LUN to the storage pool, naa.500 disappears and LUN 0 reflects correctly again with naa.600... identifier.  I remove again and LUN 0 becomes naa.500... identifier again.

I want two-pass, but I can't get rid of naa.500... little matter what I try.

In the game there is no DTS or SIOC.

I restarted management, but also a restart services.sh officers when none of those who have worked I reloaded 1 host but it has not yet remove the ghost LUNS.

I did all the tricks of esxcli I can find related to the deletion of volumes.  More funny thing is when I run the command to take it apart, put on 'off' etc, the gray naa.500 of volume in the customer and orders are successful.  Then I run the actual delete command and it is running successfully within the CLI, but if you look at the GUI, naa.500... which was gray becomes active (not grayed out) within a period of a few seconds after the removal of the CLI.

    Whack how?

I suspect it's something behind of a volume that no longer exists and probably did not exist for a long time, but who was not properly removed when he was abducted.

Someone has suggestions for how to get rid of this volume mysterious ghost?

It is by design with multiple EMC storage systems. Unless you present a LUN with a 0 host ID, you will see the LUN of 'management' (which is not a disk device) as LUN 0 on the host.

  • There is no volume after restarting the device. Need urgent help

    Hello.

Our ReadyNAS RN31600 iSCSI target device. We have (had) two LUNS of 8 terabytes each built on X - RAID 5, which are presented on a Windows Server.

This device is less than a year, and he began to have problems today. First two LUNS disappeared from the iSCSI (WS 2008 R2) client. When we tried to restart the NAS server, he's hanging on "restart now, see you soon."

We power off of the switch and after restarting, two LUNS seem to have disappeared, and the unit is empty somehow? How to solve this problem? Or is it quite normal on the Netgear devices to suddenly lose 16 terabytes of data?

The GUI shows "there is no volume" and also "delete inactive volumes using disk. Disc # 1,2,3,4,5,6 ". This means that all the disks.

    Firmware is 6.4.0.

And no, we don't have backups, because this device is used to a backup unit.

I suggest you to contact support (support.netgear.com), because I think it will be faster than from here.

  • Deleting a disk and Re assign disk space

They gave me a laptop Acer Aspire 3680 running on Vista. 80 GB HDD space is also divided a, C and D drive. Both drives are formatted NFTS. D drive has a folder labeled "Program Data". It is empty. When I go to disk management, click with the right button on the D drive, the drop down menu a 'remove' grayed. How can I remove the D drive and re assign disk space on drive C?

    Hello

What is the complete the situation under the D drive in disk management?

Your D: drive is normally the recovery Partition that the manufacturer has put there for your computer to put it back to factory in the event of a system crash.

Contact the manufacturer of your computer on how to remove everything you have saved on the recovery disk because it is their recovery Partition.

You can try to format the drive, then try to delete the volume.  Check if this is useful.

Note: Before formatting the drive D: is it advisable to check with your computer manufacturer.

Contact the manufacturer of your computer about how to remove anything on recovery drive, as is the recovery Partition.

  • System Volume Information in Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.

System Volume Information continues to increase in size, but there are now a lot as a "separate partition" on my hard drive. It seems to be totally fraggled, but do not defragment when I defragment the hard drive. It grows to 0.5-1.0 GB everytime I clean up/defragment my hard drive. How can I delete System Volume Information and stop what is happening in the future? Is it safe to delete?

  • move volumes of storage of 2 controller controller 1

    Hi guys,.

I want to pass some volumes through to the other controller to redistribute space, as everything on controller 2 is to complete research.

What is the best way to move overall, then the data on the disks of controller 1?

    Controller 1:

There are 2 ways for this survey:

    1. license replicate if you can replicate a volume of Compellent to Compellent 1 2, and then delete on 2 Compellent in order to free up space.

    2. choose 1 2 Compellent volume which should be move free space - we call it as Volumea. Create volumes on 1 Compellent, onto a server (which has the Volumea). Data copy of its new volume (copy OS level). Remove the Volumea on 2 Compellent.

You can also expire the replay, delete any volume of United Nations-use on 2 Compellent.
