Dell Inspiron 1501 wireless light is not on and I can't get a wireless connection. I was told that I needed to press the Fn key and F2 but it doesn't change anything

Catherine,

To press Fn and F2, you must have installed Dell QuickSet.

Places to look to see if your connection is activated

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system, have you installed the desktop system software / laptop (as appropriate) and drivers from the chipset first? If this is not the case, the rest of the drivers will not install. How to download and install drivers in the correct order

Start with the computer system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Go to the drivers & downloads , enter your service tag, and then select your operating system. Under applications, you can find Dell QuickSet.

    TIA

It seems a little weird that the serial number was not recognized.  Have you tried to contact Dell and ask them about it?

Why R83099 Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI Card?  This isn't one of the choices for the adapter driver wireless for an Inspiron 510 m--> http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19 (that file doesn't even seem the correct driver for a Dell TrueMobile 1300; the linked page offers R143355. EXE for the device).

I suggest either (a) call/email Dell and know what particular wireless adapter is in the laptop and what driver you should download or (b) open the cover of the mini-PCI card and visually identify (if possible)--> http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins510m/sm/upgrades.htm#999869 and then go to the driver page linked above and get the correct driver.

    Hi @BlackSheepFan,

From your description, I think it would be better to remove the software, clean up a bit of the computer, and then reinstall the software. Please complete all of the steps below in the order and let me know the results.

    1. Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the dialog box run, type %temp%
    2. Delete all files and folders in the temp folder. Choose Skip if all pop ups seem to say all files cannot be deleted
    3. The new software - uninstall the printer software Instructions
    4. Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the computer
    5. Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.

Try the web site of Dell for Win 7 drivers. There may be some here. If it does not exist, you might have to wait until the public release before Dell post...   Mike Hall MVP - Windows Experience http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/

  • My Dell Inspiron 530 will not light

The computer has been like that for a while now. When I have the power cable connected to the back of the computer the Green underside is on so I don't know if it means that something is supposed to happen. When I opened the computer there is a yellow light as well. But when I hit the power button to turn on nothing happens, fans did not move at all. And if I remember when I opened the computer there was a few stray wires disconnected, I tried for about 10 minutes around the motherboard to find that these cards could go on. I have found none. I followed a cord in the back and he went into the motherboard and fan and another went in a box (where the power cord goes into the back). These cords may not be connected when the computer still worked well, I'm not entirely sure about this. I don't have a lot of money to replace the points and I did well in computer science and more telling me instructions on what to do.

    peterfaix

Absolutely nothing happens when I press the power button. The yellow light on the motherboard is immediately, without flashing what so ever. And when I said the green light is the I meant right where you plug in the power cord. It's on and stays green as well. No flicker.

    peterfaix

As the power light button does not lite, better to replace the power supply first, as you need a diet 'known' work to check the system and motherboard.

As you have a mini-tower 530 standard ATX power supply units can be installed, with a 24-pin or 20 + power connector 4-pin main motherboard, with or without the on/off switch.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Note: A power supply with four SATA power connectors, is necessary.

Power supply replacement procedures are here:

    Hi all

I installed the drivers a lot but this question is never resolved.

I find a cross mark on my network icon to the right of the taskbar, and it says not connected to any network.

Please help me with this issue I am unable to use the wifi even in this brand new machine.

  • I have re-installed Windows Vista on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525) and now my wireless does not work.

Hi, I have re-installed Windows Vista on my laptop (dell insparon) 1525 and now my wireless does not work. ive tried re installing driver, but it says operating system not supported. I used the disc that came with the computer of the re install and I even tried to install service pack 1. .

original title: Wireless problems after install.

I just tried both, the dell is one that says OS not supported"and the intel, it went very well, but my 'network controller' still have a yellow top thing in Device Manager. and I always wireless. any other ideas? Thank you for the help

Question...  You have whatever it is listed in the "Network adapters" section of "Device Manager" now?

While ensuring that the exclamation point is not for your wired network device (plausible) or bluetooth (plausible) and you just need to configure your wireless network to connect to * your * wireless network now.

You may have to contact Dell to see why none of their drivers receive your wireless device works on the original operating system, what they included.  This could be a hardware problem PURE.

  • Time Warner wireless works not well with my laptop Dell Inspiron... Help!

I use Time Warner Cable as my Internet service provider. However, my Dell Inspiron laptop does not seem to work well with it. It is said that I am connected to my computer with full bars no matter where in the House and I can browse the internet most of the time, but often, the connection is cut and I can't watch videos on the internet without him having to buffering every two seconds, even on the lowest of low quality. I cleaned my computer, released space, tried to get closer to the router, using different browsers, but nothing helped. I think it was something wrong with the internet except my two computers work well with her roommates and one has a Mac and the other has a Samsung laptop. However, my laptop connects both Internet everywhere elsewhere I'll and have a Wi - Fi access, so this makes no sense. How can I get my laptop to better synchronize with my internet at home? Competent advice would be greatly appreciated

    What site you run to?
    What browser do you use?

Try using a wired connection and test if you are able to broadcast normally or not.

If the problem persists when you use a wired connection, you can try a system restore back to a point before this problem started.

You b uninstall Norton Security Suite AND THEN (b) download/run the Norton removal tool [1] & restart (c) BEFORE you installed MSE?

Note: most Windows XP computers came with a Norton or McAfee free trial pre-installed. When you perform a clean installation of Windows XP by using the disks that came with the computer or the hidden restore partition, the free trialware is reinstalled (but invalid). You MUST (a) uninstall the free-trial version AND THEN (b) download/run the appropriate removal tool & restart (c) PRIOR to installation of a legitimate antivirus application (for example, Norton Security Suite freebie) AND BEFORE install any update of Windows (including the Service Packs & IE8).

  • Wireless not connect Dell Inspiron N5010.

I've had this computer for 2 years now. Last night the wireless off randomly, so I thought that was the internet. But when I tried to connect to a different internet, I noticed it says that my wireless is turned off. So I thought I fell just the wireless button. I went to turn it back on, but it will not activate. I tried to hit the button several times including using the Fn key. I can connect using Ethernet cable and it works, but my wireless does not. I have Windows 8 and had since it was released, so I know it's not that. My drivers are all up to date and I tried the system restore. Any ideas of what it could be?

    Thank you.

Thank you for your help, but as I told you, I have all the drivers for it. Isn't it connected, its that he was not running. I thought of it on my own terms. I believe that my button just broke and I had to find a way to turn on without that button. Thanks for your good help.

  • Dell Inspiron 3147 11.6 "- touchscreen"in part"does not work after the pilot light"

Every time when the laptop goes to sleep mode in itself and I put on, the touch screen will be in part does not, to be more precise, is the upper part of the screen. The problem is that on the screen, mouse and touchpad work correctly. Now I can solve the problem by pressing the power button to let him sleep and a second time to activate it, but I don't want to do it every day.

Anyone has the answer to this? Please, I beg you! I just got a few days ago!

    Thank you.

Hey, guys, I had the touchscreen partially responsible (upper right part) + 100% of the CPU. What I ended up doing, it was a clean install of Windows 10 and do NOT install Dell Quickset. I repeat, DO NOT install of Quickset. Hardware works fine without it and I stopped to get 100% of the CPU after idle and touch screen works normally. The only downside is that I get an unrecognized component (ACPI\SMO8810\1), which I think has to do with the keyboard locking in tablet mode. This isn't the complete solution of 100%, but I feel that the Dell power plan is not coded correctly. For any question, you guys might have, let me know!
