Dell Inspiron 1750, Windows 7: HL-DT-ST DVD +-RW GT10N not working after critical updates from MS

I'm having a problem with my Player DVD - HL - DT - ST DVD +-RW GT10N.  I have a Dell Inspiron 1750, Windows 7.

It was working fine, then after 3 critical updates from MS, it stopped reading/writing on the DVD player.  The only way I can access the DVD (read or write) is to restart.  A subsequent loading of different or even the same DVD finished with the issue of not being able to recognize the DVD.

When I click on the properties of the DVD drive in Device Manager, it clocks.  However, after a reboot, the properties has worked well and said that the driver does not work properly.

I got to the period before 1st update was installed and the DVD player worked as before.  However, Ms. downloaded the same (I assume) updated critical shortly after.  Low and behold, the DVD player does not work yet.

The MS CD/DVD patch could not fix.

I also tried UpperFilters/LowerFilters regedit deletions, but it is impossible to find these entries (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116 > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}).  Thank you Osprey4 for your help continues.

I hope someone can help me.

Thank you

Duane.

  • His Dell Inspiron 1420, microphone and camera integrated into the laptop does not work after installing Windows 7 Professional

No sound from my Dell Inspiron 1420 and the microphone and built-in laptop camera do not work after installing Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. My laptop has Windows 7 Vista 32 - bit family premium. My laptop is 64-bit capable and after going through the Upgrade Advisor, I installed Windows 7 64-bit. I can hear sounds when I use a headset plugged into the line-in Jack, but not through the speakers built into the laptop. I already tried new drivers from the Dell website, but I could not find.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

As it is has no drivers 64 bit Windows 7 on Dell Web site, your best chance is to install the 64-bit versions of Vista (if they exist) in compatibility mode, viz:

Right click on the Vista driver, then select Properties > Compatibility tab. Now choose to run the program in Vista compatibility mode and then apply > OK. Right click on the file and select run as administrator to install it.

  • Dell Inspiron 1750, Windows 7: HL-DT-ST DVD +-RW GT30N does not work

Hello, I am a new Member

I know that this subject has been discussed previously and I have read in this thread and tried almost all of the suggested solutions, but my CD drive still does not work.

I didn't want to add to a long thread, so I posted again.

The only proposed solution, I have not tried was 'remove your device manager IDE/SATA controller' as my Device Manager lists an IDE ATA/ATAPI controller instead.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Besides what abdelhak says:

The message of PXE boot that you receive when you start your computer has nothing to do with your CD/DVD-Rom drive. Your computer uses a PXE boot method to attempt to load Windows from a location on your network. Since you do not have this configuration, it is safe to ignore it. If it slows down the startup time of your system, contact your manufacturer and ask them for instructions on how to "disable PXE Network Boot of the BIOS.

  • DVD Player & touch screen does not work after last update DX1210 to Windows 8

    Hello
I know. I should have checked the upgrade information before doing so, but I have upgraded to Windows 8 about 3 months ago and my DVD player and touchscreen no longer work. I don't know what else does not work.

I searched drivers but can't seem to find a.

Can someone point me to the right direction?

Or do I restore to original settings - Windows 7?

Which brings me to my second question. How to restore? I did not have a backup, but I left all my data on a hard drive.

I can't find any help on any of these challenges.

    Thanks in advance.

To be honest that I n t have this unit and don t have experience with it but I ve checked Toshiba to THE support page and of course, this model is not supported for Win8. What you need are utilities and tools specific to Toshiba.

In my opinion, if the device is not fully supported you should go back to original Win7 and supported.
I put t know why you didn t follow the Toshiba s advice on the creation of recovery media. From my experience, that the recorded data are unnecessary, and you will not be able to start the recovery image installation.

What you need now is the recovery disk. Visit the Toshiba page if there is possibility to order a new. Otherwise contact the closest service Toshiba and ask if they can help you with this.

  • Windows 7 upgrade problem. DVD player does not work.

I bought the upgrade of Windows 7 family pack (3).  The DVD drive on a PC does not work.  Is it possible to download Windows 7 and use my product key for the Family Pack?  Or can offer you an alternative?

Can you open the Device Manager and uninstall each DVD player.

Then, restart the computer and let Windows RE-detect readers.

Then see if you can access a DVD.

  • My CD/DVD burner does not work after installing Windows 7.

    Hello.

I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop (about 2 weeks ago), initially delivered with Windows Vista.

The facility is perfectly, and I enjoyed the simplicity of the new operating system.

Everything was going well for about 2 weeks.

I was able to burn CDs and DVDs.

But today, when my father asked me to burn a CD for him, Windows Media Player 12 says that I had to connect a burner and restart Windows Media Player 12.

I restarted the program, which did not work.

I restarted my computer, that didn't work.

I uninstalled my CD/DVD burner drivers and reinstalled them back on and I thought that WMP12 had started working.

But when I put the blank disc inside my laptop and started the burn, my computer gave me a message there was an error in burning the disc, and I had to close WMP12.

When I got the farm, WMP12 and then tells me to connect a burner and restart the program.

After that, I looked for the drivers online set to level, or to the bottom of the slope to.

    But none of them worked.

After that, I talked with a HP technician who told me that it is better to stick to the pre-installed operating system that comes with a computer and not downgrade or upgrade manually.

She also said that because my computer was made for Windows Vista, it was the compatible operating system for my internal hardware.

It gives me no drivers or anything to install.

I should have come to Microsoft first, because now I realize that HP has nothing to do with Windows 7.

    If Microsoft, I ask you:

When you install Windows 7 on an original Windows Vista laptop and that your CD/DVD writer works for about a week, then it stops working...

What should I do next to fix this? :(

    Please help ~!

    -Kyo

    Hey Kyo - San,

Given that the troubleshooter could not see the CD DVD drive, you can try to navigate to the following location in the registry editor and deleted the upper filter and lower filter keys and check if it helps you get the job of CD DVD player.

    1. click on Startand then click all programs.

    2. in the start menu search box type regeditand press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    3. in the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    4. in the right pane, look for UpperFilters and UpperFilter key and select it.
Note You can also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You don't have to delete this entry. Click UpperFilters . If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you may still have to delete the LowerFilters registry entry.

    5. on the Edit menu, click delete.

    6. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    7. exit the registry editor.

    8 restart the computer.

Note: Sometimes, this problem is due to two Windows that have been corrupted registry entries. To resolve this problem, you must use the registry editor to delete the corrupted registry entries.

However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, follow these steps in the KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/

Access the link below to learn more about the CD-ROM drive or the DVD drive that does not work as expected on a computer.

Note: the article above is for Windows Vista and the same applies to Windows 7.

  • File server for Windows does not work after security update

I just upgraded the security update that was released last week and all of a sudden the computers windows cannot access the server. I'm under 10.11.6 and everything was great until we started windows computers today. They can ping and access the internet, but they cannot access SMB on the server.

Macs have no connection problems in the SMB and AFP.

Any ideas, what has changed? Users of server are all still there and it seems like it should work. I can access the web page of servers too.

Make sure you are including the domain in the user name when signing in. for example USER: groupe_travail

Also, check that your windows machine has the correct set of LM compatibility level. For El Cap servers must be set to 3.

Follow the instructions below to change the Windows security settings to allow Windows SMB connections.

    1. Click on the Start button and in the bottom search bar, type regedit . Select search results regedit and the registry opens.
    2. Using the folders on the left side of the screen, navigate through the tree to the following location: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
    3. In the right window, find the following DWORD value: LmCompatibilityLevel . If it exists, double-click it and set the value to 3 (in decimal).  If it does not exist, right-click in an empty space in the right part of the window and create a new DWORD value called LmCompatibilityLevel and set its value to 3 (in decimal).
    4. Restart the computer.
    5. Re-try to connect to the server via the workstation.

NOTE: The versions Home of windows may not the ability to set the LM, and unfortunately I have not found a way around that.

  • Windows does not work after last update of November

I've manually updated Windows 7 last night (updates critical day of November and other updates) and since it has NOT restarted, automatically, I rebooted my computer this morning.  Since then, Windows begins to restart, but then the screen comes on and off (i.e. flashing) but don't not continue to open windows... What do I do? Help, please.  Thank you.

    Here you go:

    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.

    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the CD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
