  • Dell Inspiron 3520 - hard drive failure - how to install Windows 8 on the new hard drive

I bought Dell Inspiron 3520. My hard drive has stopped working completely. It was stated as dead hard drive by diagonstic center.

I have now bought a new hard drive but have lost data and windows 8 preload on the original hard drive. Dell did not provide any recovery disk for Windows 8 pre-loaded on portable hard drive. How can I then install windows 8 / 10 on my new hard drive?

The .iso image file official 10565 has only:

    • Overview of the House of insiders
    • Overview of the Insider Pro

Unfortunately, there are 5 editions of Windows 10 and so 3 are missing. If your key is not automatically entered and accepted, it's probably a simple language edition or edition N.

When Microsoft release 10586 - TH2 - 1511 Version they will probably have an .iso that contains all 5 editions in 1 .iso or alternatively 5 .isos distinct (I hope as the first case that it will make Windows installation much easier).

  • The upgrade of Inspiron 9300 Hard Drive not recognized

I bought an upgrade of my Inspiron 9300 laptop hard drive:

Old hard drive: TG754 Hard Drive, 60G, 9.5 MM, 7.2 K Hitachi, Moraga, unleaded

New hard drive: 250 GB SATA 3 Gb s hard drive 16 MB 7200 RPM 2.5 IN. w o free fall Scorpio black

    TG754 Hard drive, 60G, 9.5 MM, Hitachi 7.2 K, Moraga, unleaded

I don't know I installed it correct (just slide in and screw it) but my problem is that my laptop does not recognize the new drive.  When starting it complains that no hard drive is, and when I boot my Windows XP it also said that no hard drive is located.

I followed the upgrade recommended Dell so I do not know why it does not work.  I read that the SATA drives require additional drivers, but I'm sure that my old drive was already a SATA drive, so I don't understand why he is not recognized.

    Help, please.  Thank you.

The 9300 has been performed in two versions - the vast majority were EIDE.  The last execution of production used SATA.  Yours is EIDE.

Readers are physically the same size and made the same carrier - but does not connect the SATA version to the motherboard (check the back both discs and you'll see why).

The EIDE version has a limit of 120G BIOS - it means not that you can not use this drive of 160 G, but the results can be unpredictable, sudden loss of all data.  Keep backups if you try a 160 - it is much safer to use a 120G.

No, a 5400 all else equal will be slower than a 7200 - but you don't have a choice, because all manufacturers have stopped making 7200 RPM EIDE (PATA) computer laptop some time ago.

  • Dell Inspiron 15 3520 drive does not work.

Hello. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15 3520. It runs under 64-bit Windows 8. Everything works well except the hard drive. It opens, closes, turns on, makes noises, etc. It does everything it should, except read DVD/CD. I'll put one in and I don't know if I can hear the disc rotation or is fan of the laptop. Whatever it is, it appears in Windows Explorer. When I go into the Device Manager on the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives section, the only rider there is a small yellow triangle on it, and it shows the error message "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19). "I tried to uninstall reinstall the drivers and let Windows but which never works. I tried to uninstall the and clicking on 'check hardware changes' or whatever the option and a device setup prompt came, but I didn't know if it was for my wireless mouse or DVD drivers. With hindsight I should have waited until it ends instead of cancelling because I thought at the time, it was my mouse. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

UPDATE: after the countless times uninstall the drivers and using the "Scan for hardware changes" button in the 'Action' tab, it finally started working.

  • Dell Inspiron disk HARD failure

My Inspiron 1520 HDD son dropped out and if a replacement is relatively expensive, the machine was not supplied with all CD media if do not have a Windows XP disc to reinstall the operating system.  In addition, the windows sticker product key seems to have been placed in a hot spot on the base of the laptop and is unreadable, any suggestions on how I can re - install XP from a generic disk?

Unfortunately, this o ly applies to the United States and I live in England.  Talk with the Support technique Dell this morning and bought a replacement HARD drive, while it was more slightly more expensive that buying direct of ironmongers, Dell included delivery the next day and offered to throw in replacement XP media and specific hardware for free driver.

  • Dell Inspiron 3520 internal drive not found

    The morning that the pc was working fine, I turned it off and then back on the change to another operating system. Instead of take me to the boot options it took me to a black screen saying;

    intenal drive not found

to resolve this problem, try reinstalling the drive.

No bootable device - don't strike F1 to retry to start, F2 enter the Menu Setup, F5 enter PSA

I did not do anything for the pc, it was just sitting at the table and so I doubt that it can be linked to the material as say several forums.

When I enter the BIOS it says the disk of HARD fixed; ST500LM012 HN-M500MBB (500 GB)

Here the details of the computer

    Dell Inspiron 15N 3520

Windows 8 (with preview 8.1 and Ubuntu)

    use UEFI

    CORE I5 2.5 GHz

    4 GB Ram DDR3

500 GB of HDD (I think he has a 32 GB SSD cache)

Please help, I tried to read everywhere on the internet and try everything that does not require opening the unit (the unit is new and is not easy as I wish it were).

Can someone tell me what to do, or if it can be saved without any hardware change? It has only about 2 months and I have important information inside (no yes no return upwards...)

    Hi joseph97svl,

    Thank you for the update.

Because the HARD drive is detected in the BIOS, and also the successful test, the equipment works as expected. I suspect it is a software problem and you can consider restoring the system using the recovery discs.  To restore the system using the recovery media, follow the instructions given in the following link:

    http://Dell.to/12Z2Lkq

In case the recovery discs are not created, send me a private message with the service system number to help you further.  Please click on my name and click on start the Conversation to send me a private message.

  • Inspiron 5160 hard drive upgrade

Think to upgrade my Inspiron 5160 to a hard drive bigger.  I did some research on this forum and the Dell support site and found no size max displayed.  In this forum, I have seen that most laptops of this vintage have 137gig Bios limit so I'm assuming that this one will also be.  I have the installed Bios A08 if that makes a difference.  I don't want to use any disk manager program too to run larger.  With this in mind, can anyone confirm my suspicions about the 137gig (effectively a 120 gig drive max) limit on this laptop?

    TIA

  • Inspiron 1545 - hard drive replacement, new drive SATA not found 'internal hard drive not found ".

    Hi all

I'm trying to install Win7 in an Inspiron 1545 with a new SATA hard drive that has been purchased. When I insert the disc, I get "Internal hard drive not found." I checked the drive does not appear in the BIOS, I already tried to reinstall the drive several times. In addition, I tried to load the chipset drivers, drivers SATA, etc. of the Dells, the Reader site still does not appear in the installation of the OS when starting on a DVD or in the bios.

I do not think that there is a problem with the new drive, I plugged the new drive in another Dell laptop model and it recognizes the drive in the BIOS, also I can always start on the previous in this laptop without problem hard drive when I plug it in.

Is there a specific driver, etc. should I use for the drive to be recognized or have other thoughts?

It's strange - either the new HDD has a rare compatibility with your embedded controller problem (I use a 500Gbyte in my 1545 no probs)) or it is a mechanical problem. I look at the physical dimensions and compare your original hdd by the new. Watch the video (even if it's on a 1525 (similar to a 1545) and a SSD hard drive)-go to 02:20
