  I replaced the broken hard drive for him and reinstalled Windows 10. However when I went to check if the OS has been activated, it showed as not been activated? I thought the machines after that Windows 8 had their licance saved in the BIOS, so we do not have this problem?
  
  Also there is no sticker on the back or under the battery that contains the product key for Windows.
  
  I also talked to Microsoft, but they were uable to help.

  Laughing out loud. I'm sorry. I am afraid that you cannot mix just DVD / CD / etc - they are for a specific model for the specific version of Win / edition. You cannot use a recovery media for HP computer to another - it will simply not work 99% of the time. You cannot mix editions of Windows (the House is for Home, Pro goes to Pro).  You want the recovery media for this unit, you need to follow the links.

  However, IF you have enabled the upgrade of Windows 10 post fine, you can simply download Win 10 ISO from here:

  Download the tool, it will download an ISO and burn it to a DVD or write on a USB key. Follow the on-screen instructions, skip entered the key and move on. After installation, Windows 10 HOME should activate fine using digital entitlement if 8.1 Home Win allowed initially.

  I'm trying to install Win7 in an Inspiron 1545 with a new SATA hard drive that has been purchased. When I insert the disc, I get "Internal hard drive not found." I checked the drive does not appear in the BIOS, I already tried to reinstall the drive several times. In addition, I tried to load the chipset drivers, drivers SATA, etc. of the Dells, the Reader site still does not appear in the installation of the OS when starting on a DVD or in the bios.

  I bought Dell Inspiron 3520. My hard drive has stopped working completely. It was stated as dead hard drive by diagonstic center.

  I have now bought a new hard drive but have lost data and windows 8 preload on the original hard drive. Dell did not provide any recovery disk for Windows 8 pre-loaded on portable hard drive. How can I then install windows 8 / 10 on my new hard drive?

  Unfortunately, there are 5 editions of Windows 10 and so 3 are missing. If your key is not automatically entered and accepted, it's probably a simple language edition or edition N.

  When Microsoft release 10586 - TH2 - 1511 Version they will probably have an .iso that contains all 5 editions in 1 .iso or alternatively 5 .isos distinct (I hope as the first case that it will make Windows installation much easier).

  My computer (dell xps 8300) has recently frozen and when it restarts it scored one of my RAID 0 hard drives as being a mistake. Surprisingly, my computer still works as always and after an investigation, I traced the gel to vuze trying to check a file after he was already down.   Lack of an operating system is the message you get when in fact there is a properly peripheral storage seen by your BIOS, but it is not a valid partition with a valid boot sector table.

  I fear that you may have installed the operating system on a RAID-0 configuration and only now try to start from one half of the band?  Yes, you can WD 500 GB RAID-0 an and a 1 TB Seagate together.  It would be foolish (same capacity as a single player, but all the falls of RAID-0) but the computer doesn't know any better.

  The RAID configuration (breaking apart the RAID) must arrive before the installation of the o/s.  The RAID/mobo card is one of the early stages of the process, he takes these 2 physical disks and mounted as a storage to the motherboard, allowing it to boot from it etc.

  No matter what is happening currently, my advice would be to remove the RAID from the system discs.  You don't want a broken drive / failure connected, even if you do not use it because the computer will continue to warn / complain the RAID broke, the startup BIOS will be keep showing you a disc is seen mistakes SMART, and finally the failed drive can degrade to the point it actually damage something.

  A full format - reinstall may or may not work - even if it does, it will not work long.  You need to replace the drive.

• HP Envy M4: Just changed the HARD drive (failed) and replaced with SDDS, having problems loading OS System.

  SO as I said, my HARD drive wasn't so I went and replaced by a DDI, I did not have any recovery disk or anything, because I didn't need anything off the old HARD drive (I had an external which had all my videos and photos) now my only question is how can I load my old windows 8 OS and then upgrade to windows 10.
