My laptop (Toshiba Satellite L350-203 with Vista SP1 HPE) has lost the ability to connect to the internet using my home network. I have McAfee Internet Security and charge of IE8, but both were present before the problem appeared. My home network is now displayed as 'unidentified public network' and the laptop has "local access only". He seems unable to keep the WEP key for the network as it asks everytime I try to connect. I confirmed that the WEP key is correct. There are 3 other computers in the House that connect without a problem, so I guess that the router is not the source of the anomaly. I tried accessing another network to another place (with any necessary safety information) but get the same result, so that other computers can connect successfully. I am able to access the internet via an account mobile broadband (using a "dongle"), but I added this account after the problem appeared, so once I don't suspect it as being the culprit. Diagnosis in the "network and sharing Center" routines are unable to solve the problem, so any help is most welcome.

    Hello Roy Mac,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

You receive an error or the error codes when you try to connect?  You're obviously network savy upward so if something seems repetitive please ignore, you tried to delete the location and replace?   Is there any software for the high account mobile broadband that could changed settings?  Are you able to connect to the router with an ethernet cable access to the internet without problem?

A wireless network uses authentication and encryption to help stay secure. Authentication controls access to the wireless network. Encryption helps to ensure that malicious users cannot determine the contents of wireless data frames.  Windows Vista includes a new wireless network configuration setting. The new setting indicates whether a wireless network is broadcast or not broadcast. You can also use the new configuration setting that a Windows Vista wireless client connects to a non-broadcast network.

The software that you used with Windows XP to connect to wireless networks is not compatible with Windows Vista. Alternatively, you can use Windows Vista to configure wireless networks.

To connect to a wireless network in Windows Vista, follow these steps:

    1. click on Start

    Collapse this includes this image

, then click on connection to.

    2. click on the wireless network you want to connect, and then click connect.

Note During the connection process, you may be prompted for a key WEP Wired Equivalent Privacy (). If you do not have this key, contact the network administrator to help wireless.

  • After that Windows 7 conclusion "No Internet access" in the wireless network?

I have a USB wireless network card installed in my office. All judging by the "connected network" showed, that he manages to connect to my wireless router, with I can't visit all websites due to "free Internet access". Only if I move my router where (almost) no wall blocking the path between my office and the router, will be solved the problem.

There is no problems surfing the Internet using my laptop (Windows XP) and the iPad, which also connect to the router.

I don't know what "No Internet access" while "Connected network" appears. To understand this, perhaps I should know what Windows 7 draws the conclusion "No Internet access" to the wireless network.

Thank you, everyone. I managed to figure out the problem last night. With this document that I found by Googling, http://www.usb.org/developers/whitepapers/327216.pdf, I tried to disconnect my DVD ROM USB plugged next to my wireless network card and found that this really WORKED, although the DVD ROM is USB 2.0 instead of 3.0.

In addition, as Shawn "Cmdr" Keene [MVP] said, I really need to I ignore the message "connected network". I ran the Ipconfig/all command frequently and found that sometimes the IP address of my wireless network card was no longer * 192.168.0 and the gateway, and the IP addresses of the DNS servers are null, even if the message "Connected network" remained all the time.

Hope this helps others who also have this problem, even though my English is not very good. : )

    Reema,

There are several solutions here and you have not specified what solution you have already tried and did not work. Check the posts here and specify what solutions did not work for your question.

Additionally, you mention that you tried "installation of the wireless network" in Safe Mode. This means it that you were able to connect mode without failure, but not in the Windows? If so, you should try a clean boot to identify the item or service responsible for the error:

  • Laptop won't connect to a wireless network

Hello. My Dell laptop has stopped to connect to a wireless network. He had been the connection very well for months until about a week ago. Then he would only reconnect when I restarted my laptop. Now it doesn't connect at all. I'm in Windows 8. I tried to solve the problems, but nothing worked, I also tried to remove the network from the list and reconnect, but without success. Any help would be great.

Windows 8 did a diagnostic self test... and it automatically fixed my problems with the connection via WiFi.   He is now on the connection manually.  Apparently, he has been on the connection automatically.  I have di0sconnected my Ethernet connection, before you run the test.  Then it is automatically set to manual connection.

  • Impossible to manually add the wireless network

I need to manually add a wireless network to the laptop. When I click on add in the wireless connection properties window, however there is no pop-up window. If I try on a similar laptop windows wireless network properties appears. The Wireless Auto-Configuration service is started. How can I get the wireless network properties window?

I was finally able to solve this problem and I posted the results on another forum, I used for this purpose.  Here is the text exactly as I posted on the other forum.  It answers some of your questions.
Regarding other software that manages the wireless card, Yes, there are (Atheros), he was not managing the adapter (off a long time ago), however, to be sure, I removed it to run in the registry.

Here is the text of how I solved the problem, I mentioned.  If you have more questions, feel free to post them.

    *****

I am just posting this here because I could solve the problem and not able to find a reliable source on the internet on a fix for this and for a problem that is the result of my attempts to fix it.

This is the situation and my landline.

I was getting this error message

    "Impossible to migrate dependent packages.

After trying to install a pacakage KB. It did not matter that one but they have been associated with the Wireless settings.

I continued to try to install the newer packages.
    KB893357
    KB917021
    KB918997

Each gave me the same message

    "Impossible to migrate dependent packages.

I read online that I install KB937143 (update IE7) could help.

I did this and still got the same message on dependent modules.
I also had another problem occur.
In the section my network places properties connection wireless adapters, whenever I clicked the Add button / PROPERTIES without window appears to allow me to change the settings, however, I was able to remove items from the preferred networks window.

My Automatic Configuration Service wireless is running and took Windows to configure my wireless settings.

I downloaded the updates for my driver Wlan (WiFiHP 500) and I still had the same problems.

I restarted KB918997 using the/log option and read the log file. This is the last important lines:

    33.849: MigrateHotfix: hotfix migration KB937143
    34.129: migrating QFE KB937143 with command line: update.exe z q - B: sp2qfe
    36.783: failed 1603 Update.exe.
    36.793: MigrateHotfixes: KB937143 Migration failed
    36.793: DoInstallation: Migration failed
36.933: failed to migrate dependent packages.
39.597: message displayed to the user: cannot migrate dependent packages.

I then uninstalled the KB937143 package and reinstalled KB918997 update with the newspaper of Pétion and he went along. I also tested the buttons add and PROPERTIES in the window of Favorites and those networks worked too.

I checked the logfile KB918997 and he showed this:
42.311: MigrateHotfix: hotfix migration KB932168 have
    42.511: migrating QFE KB932168 have with the command line: update.exe z q - B: sp2qfe
88.768: MigrateHotfix: Hotfix KB932168 successfully migrated
    88.768: MigrateHotfixes: return code: 3010
    88.928: DoInstallation: Migration succeeded

As a side note, I restarted the laptop frequently just to be sure.

So, really, the option of running with the Ko log file helped me diagnose the problem.

    Hello, my name is Farouk

So recently I bought this laptop in a store here in Egypt. I saw him and I really liked it. There was a problem, however, it did not come with microsoft windows at all, but he came back. I bought 8 64-bit Windows and installed without any problem at all.

Now that is the problem, when I came to connect to the Internet, there was possibility to connect to a Wifi hotspot. My only choice was to connect via ethernet cable. Now, I'm sitting here next to my router connected to an ethernet cord, wondering what to do, and I hope I can get some answers here.

    Hello:

Your laptop is not supported by HP for Windows 8.  Only 8.1 and 7, 64 bit.

The "ton of"other devices"in Device Manager," are all devices that need drivers such as the wireless card.

Problem is there is no W8 driver for the wireless card model that your laptop is.

See if these drivers wireless and bluetooth works.  If they are not, I highly recommend you use your ethernet connection and take the free update for the windows store W8.1 and then install the relevant drivers you need.

  • Access to the wireless network

All of a sudden I can't access my wireless network that I use for this computer for 2 years.  My modem works as I have tested.  But it does not find my wireless network.

    Hello

Power Off (Unplug) your Modem (cable, DSL or other type ISP service you are using) and the router and waiting

Your router could be suspicious here, you have successfully updated its firmware as a possible solution? And I would like to
Update your WiFi drivers on computers. How you are positioned in the router? Are there
    obstacles in the path?

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon. Use a wire or download the drivers on
another computer then transfer them using removable media.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
