Dell Precision T5500 CPU upgrade
I did research on it and since I am not so material informed computer I think I must ask. There the mobo of 0D883F with processor E5504 (x 2). I want to upgrade to the fastest and most possible souls. I considered buying an opportunity T5500 and swaping the processor (the cheapest option), but there are so many different processors in of T5500 used even if finding the mobo specs show that compatibility for the 5500 series cpu. Found a T5500 used with (x 2) of the X 5650 and six cores that would be great for my work in Maya and of multiple Assembly photo/video-3D work. This could be the best option, so I can swap the cpu to my system, but I'm not sure what he would actually need exchanged. The 6 processor is 95w TDP and E5504 80w. Anyone know if this is possible at all? and what I would need to swap? I don't even know if the mobo is the same as one used, but looks in the images. Can I run a TDP 95w cpu on my mobo which now has 80w CPUs? Thanks a bunch
Yeap, you can learn more about here (especially on the second page of comments. First page has more photos and other things): http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19370823.aspx?pi21953=2
But the important thing is that the radiator main stock of aluminum is bad. Actually, it's a low-end model (according to Dell) and the radiator from the main processor performance is U016F part number. They are very easy to find on ebay (for $15). In any case, this fixed the overheating problem of mine with the dual cpu x 5650. I've actually put the 5675 x in my other T5500 and it still works a little warmer than the x 5650 but very manageable compared to with the heatsink in aluminium (number T021F). There is not much difference in the 2 cpu (both running 6 cores and 95watts) with the exception of the clock speed. In my tests with Maya, the difference in performance between the 2 is minimal. As for the difference in motherboards? I still have no idea. Dell could not even meet this other that the most recent jury having a "C2" little matter that is. We thought it would not change the cooling to the Board of Directors at all, so the main culprit was the primary heat sink. It is just difficult to track because things are not too logical (at least to me). System monitors, I used (3 of them) showed overheating cpu was #1 (which numbered #1 and #0) make me believe extension (secondary) cpu was overheating one. Dell Diagnostics was stressing cpu #0 and monitors showed the cpu #1 heating upward. I go crazy. Finally, I pulled the riser (effectively making it a computer single processor) and confirmed that the principal was a overheating. This main heater is the problem and you should definitely use the largest radiator of U016F (better) on the primary no matter what. The extension, there is no option to change what I can find. There was only one option, I think that for the T5500 T7500 both. If we wanted to move to the X 5680 (race 135watts), I think the two cpu overheats and would not be able to be cooled by the heat sinks in the system. But I would be wrong in this regard. I think x 5680 are the fastest cpu we could put in these systems (on these mobos anyway). I hope this helps.

Precision T3500 CPU upgrade to X 5650 - need help
Course I have possession of a Dell Precision WorkStation T3500
Running on a Xeon W3520
I recently got a Xeon X 5650
On the permutation of the cpu, I get error not running code PB7 "BIOS".
In terms of display "amber light and 2,3 & 4 flashing lights."
I have the motherboard XPDFK and 12 GB of ram DDR3 1333 installed the plant.
I'm trying to determine if it's a compatibility problem, dead CPU or motherboard problem.
I also note that I installed the original once again chip, and I use the same machine to write this post. This leads me to believe that I have not damaged the plug in the process.
I'd go 6-core, but if it is simply not possible on this motherboard, I'd be happy with quad.
Any help or advice would be useful.
With being a single CPU socket socket T3500 machine, single Xeons are generally cheaper by the performance that the processors Xeon supported configurations dual socket (as the X 5600 series).
For 6 core, W3670, W3680 or W3690 processors are processors single socket with similar performance (in single CPU mode) for X 5670, X 5675, X 5680 and X 5690, but they usually cost less, or about the same price for better performance.
W3670 3.2 GHz 6 drivers go for about $95 on ebay right now. W3690 3.46 GHz 6 drivers around $195.
These should be faster than a X 5670 of 2.93 GHz. X 5670 TDP is weaker, although (95W vs. 130W) - don't know if it matters - may require an upgrade of cooling.
That said, seems X 5670 in 9KPNV T3500 works. See here, which also has a long list of compatible processors for the T3500 at the beginning of the thread.

The Dell Precision T7600 CPU temperature and fan speed
Hi all
I recently got a Dell Precision T7600 workstation that has two processors Xeon E5-2620. I checked the specifications of Intel and the maximum temperature for these processors apparently is 77.4 C.
However, when you run fairly intensive applications that can last a few days or so to analyze, I noticed that the CPU temperatures get much hotter than this no difference in the speed of the fan. I used speedfan and CPUID to check the temperature/fan speed. The highest I've seen the temperature was 90 c and the fan speed has been only 900 RPM. He regularly sits on 70 c and still no response from the fans.
I find this a little hard to believe given that surely fans should be a little lower than 90 c action! I checked the settings of the bios (version A05) and the fan speed control is on auto. I have also run the diagnostics and it reported no problem. The fans run, but I'm not convinced that is the speed controller!
Is this normal?
I managed to re - install the A10 bios (it appeared to include a few things my already installed version is not ).
Anyway, tried to launch a number of things to keep the processor at 100% for a few hours. It seems that the fan speed changes now and the maximum temperature of the processor, I was able to get (and briefly) was 72 C. He had served mainly the mid to high 60s with fan speeds ranging between ~ 1000 - 1500 rpm, as required to keep it there.
I would say that the new BIOS has solved my problem.

I have a Dell Precision M90 laptop and recently upgraded to Vista 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7. Everything worked perfectly, except for my display drivers. Windows 7 installed a driver called Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. This driver has a very low resolutions only and cannot deal with games or same Aero.
I had an experience with updated video drivers with Vista. My graphics card is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500 M. When I had Vista there is no Vista compatible driver for this card, so I used the Geforce 7900GTX driver (which is inspired by the FX 2500 M) and it worked fine. Of course, the Quadro FX 2500 M doesn't have a driver compatible windows 7.
I downloaded the driver for the 64 - bit Windows 7 Geforce 7 series so I could upgrade and use, however when I used the NVIDIA installer it says that my computer has no compatible hardware for this driver (I tried to install it in Vista compatibility as well). I tried to force the upgrade by using the option "have disk" and choosing the .inf directly file. This did not always and said that he could not work because "the selected driver for this device does not support this version of Windows" even if it is the version of Windows 7.
I also tried to start my computer in safe mode, uninstall the VGA Standard driver and then install the driver NVIDIA, but it does not work either.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to add as much information as possible I hope to solve this problem. Thank you for taking a look and thanks for your suggestions!
Fixed! Finally! Dell.com took the pilot... but the link that they had posted on the page of Precision M90 was mislabeled. I tried another way, found the good pilot, and got, it works. Solved the days and days of frusturation.

I recently bought a T5400 of accuracy with a single Xeon E5405 processor. I want to upgrade to either double E5450 (80 watts) or X 5460 (120 watts) Xeon.
I found a new heatsink of JD210 not used on eBay and figure that should work correctly regardless of CPU I choose. However the calorific power of the X 5460 at 120 watts may be a bit strong but doable. I also found E5450 or X 5460 matched pairs on eBay.
I would like to know if I can at least go with double E5450 and JD210 heatsink and your thoughts on the course of X 5460. VRM is integrated into the motherboard of what I see. I want to do this week if possible. I hope that you guys have the answers.
Thank you
Erik
Hello
JD210 is the correct radiator to use so it's one less to worry about for you!
You're right about SLANQ and SLBBA - these are the S-Spec codes that use their Intel processors and help identify their individual processors. Differences in the similar processor S-Spec codes usually mean walk changes.
X 5460 which has been transported and compatible with the precision T5400 has the code S - Spec SLANP, similarly the E5450 which was transported and compatible with the precision T5400 has the S - Spec SLANQ code - then you definitely should not have problems with the E5450 at least.
On this basis, I think I'll have to revise my earlier statement to say that you have X5460s in this system as long as they have the code S-Spec SLANP instead of SLBBA - unless someone with a precision T5400 with Xeon X 5460, code S-Spec SLBBA can put me right!

(Redirected) (Legacy) M4400 Mobile Precision Workstation - CPU Upgrade
Hello.
I would be very grateful to confirm my results below... As I am a little on the intermediate cheeks of things with laptops.
After doing some digging..., it seems that my Precision M4400 was originally shipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo T9400, PGA/BGA 775 - Socket P 478 pins. (32-bit operating system)
As a T9900, is identical in Specs of taking, including FSB Motherboard CPU power allocation, L2 6 MB of cache, 35w TDP, a/c adapter margin requirements, etc...
I missed anything which could cause a serious stress problem standing in general?
Then.., anyone have first hand knowledge or professional advice that they could share on this CPU T9900, as a "compatible for the Precision M4400 configuration?"
The M4400 card system BIOS and Chip set is the latest version of A29
This is likely to be out of comments., I use two Modules SSD start-up primary/config and motherboard of the M4400 has a Nvidia Quadro FX 770 w / 512 MB GDDR3 (dedicated)
Note:
I'm always sure about the relevance in this case, but Dell, given his use of the (fault of better term) "operation power management technologies safe.., third... is it true that this so-called 'CPU braking effect." is integrated into the CPU of the T series, itself?
This is my major concern, in this case.
After cross-checking my processor T9400 with a CPU T9900 in the "comparison chart" which is located on the Intel support site, The T9900 CPU seems to be a great compatibility for a M4400 solution.
Physical requirements are the same. Hardware performance numbers are virtually identical.
T9400 temp threshold is the same for T9900, at 105. It must be encouraging.
SINCERELY..,.
ANY HELP IS REALLY APPRECIATED.
And well sure.., my apologies for this long description.
Hi stringzzzz2,
Please repost this in the laptop computer forum for assistance.

Greetings Andrewpleter4,
Fact some digging for you. Basically my documentation states that the Optiplex 745 supports Presler
series 9xx processors, as you already know since you use one. The thing important here in my opinion, it's that my documentation is wrong in any warning about not supporting any processor specific 9xx.I went to our list of Dell parts and found the part number: WM347 Presler P4 processor, 960, 3.6 G, 2 x 2 MB, FSB800, D0.
It seems that everything is the same as your 925, except the clock is higher. I am very confident that the 960 works in your system. This is the highest clocked processor taken Dell supported on the 745. You are the latest version of the BIOS, so you should be fine.
Please report if you have comments or questions about my answer.

Dell Optiplex 360 CPU Upgrade Qeuestion
Hello. I've owned a Dell Optiplex 360 Mini-Tower. I made a few updates already as a 500W what ATX PSU, 4 GB of RAM and a dedicated PCI-E graphics card but I want to upgrade the processor that comes with it. He is currently running an Intel Core 2 Duo Duo E7400 and I would like to an E8600. According to the service manual Dell Optiplex 360, it is the maximum CPU I can http://www.citgrup.ro/pdf/Calculatoare/Calculator_Dell_Optiplex_360MT_specificatii_tehnice_citgrup.pdf my question is should I also upgraded the heat sink housing / owner Dell fan or can I use the same one that came with my case? You want to make sure that I have no overheating issues as well and the heat sink is enough for this upgrade as this CPU is listed on the technical guide. Also, someone has done this before CPU update can give any feedback as well? Thank you.
They are the two Wolfdale so must use the same heatsink / fan of the case. Don't forget to clean the old paste and apply the new paste.

Dell inspiron 3847 cpu upgrade?
So, I just bought this great machine and everything works fine, but I was wondering,
Processors Intel is my dell computer supports?
I was especially thinking of upgrading to an Intel Core i5 processor 4590 (currently I have an intel core i3 4150)
I can update without problems?
I always use the original power supply from dell
Believe it or not, my dell came with the i3-4150
I checked since last year, and recently, they began using the new released processors. My local store ordered this dell in October-November 2014
But back to my question, these processors that you have indicated, it works with my desktop dell computer?

Dell Dimension C521 CPU Upgrade
Hi all. I have a Dimension C521 (feat) and I would like my CPU from a AMD Sempron (TM) Processor 3400 + ~1.8GHz to an AMD Athlon 64 X 2 6000 3.0 GHz 2 MB socket AM2 89W ADA6000IAA6CZ. But I'm not sure about a few things, that's why I'm here. I would like to know:
- If the AMD Athlon 64 6000 works with my computer of x 2
- What is the recommended BIOS
- If the fan the C521 comes with is good enough to keep it cool
- If a 280W 955.39BTU / h Maximum PSU is fine
- If you have any questions = D
Here is the owner's manual, if it'll help - ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-c521_owner ' s%20manual_en-us.pdf
Also, if I had to update my GPU, what would you recommend?
xXEblisXx
The Athlon 64 X 2 6000 + 3.0 Ghz, 89W Windsor, will work.
Before installing the processor, make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS version installed 1.1.11, with BIOS version 1.1.4 support AMD has been added.
The default fan and the PSU should be fine.

No, the AMD Phenom X 3 8450 is not compatible.

Precision T5500 processor upgrade engineering q7wj sample (x 5560)
Hello
I got a lot to me for 2 engineering sample q7wj (x 5560 in a1 stepping) pulled from a working sun micro system. I really want that it's a huge update of my double e5506 underpowered (ugh) I have been in charge of research and searching everywhere online. I can find the info in 2 places on the processors q7wj but no information if the motherboard in the T5500 supports these. My other question is there way to change the bios in the t5500 to accept these, if it is not?
Thank you
Tom
The cpuid and firmware are not supported for engineering samples.
Changing the processor at all is not supported by Dell.

Dell Dimension E520 CPU Upgrade
Hi, I upgraded my CPU because it is too slow, and that I am I going to pay $ 80 instead of the usual price of $250. I would like to know if they are compatible with my system. All the I know is that they have the same type of socket (LGA 775). Here is the link: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115060CVF
Here's my current computer specs: 4 GB RAM DDR2 1 GB GDDR5 128 bit AMD video card, 1.86Ghz Intel core 2 duo CPU (valued at 3.33 Ghz) and a 305 power w.
If I need to change the power supply, I would love to know because I have one here that's 750w I could also use. Thank you.
Daren
* P.S: I know I need to update my BIOS because I am currently at version 2.2.1 and the most recent is 2.2.4 (or something like that) should I just brings it to someone to do it for me, or is it easy to update? I don't know where to find them, so if someone could possibly direct me, I BIOS Phoenix technologies.
Thanks a lot again!
DarenDussault
The Core 2 Quad Q9505 Yorkfield 2.83 GHz LGA775 95W shown in your link is not compatible with the e520.
All Socket LGA 775 processors, listed HERE are compatible.
There should be no need to improve the power supply for a processor upgrade.
