Dell's complete Care is valid?

Another point I'd like some advice on when you buy a new laptop: someone had experience with Dell's Complete Care?  Is it worth the cost?  I guess that it does not cover issues which are in fact problems of material with the machine itself?  There is evidence on various websites indicating that there is some problems hardware and software with all three laptops that interests me, Latitude E6500, Studio 15, XPS M1530, I want to be sure to be able to return a defective machine with a new one.

Complete care covers accidental damage (damage functional - not the apparent defects) beyond the standard warranty.

I would like to scratch the M1530 out of the list - it will end of life and although newer models are supposed to have a fixed GPU, the M1530 has nVidia 8400 and 8600 chips, which have developed a terrible history of reliability.

  • 7 Dell 3740 room Tablet

    I just bought a new tablet of Hall 7 and am download apps. I have an inserted SD card and when I download the apps they go to the Tablet and I would like to transfer them to the SD card.  On my old Tablet I could go to settings/applications and there was an option to move to SD card or return to the tablet.  I can't find the place where to transfer them to the SD my e = mail Please help.

    Bette, I can't help you, and from the sound of things, no one else can either - because Dell - for whatever reason - don't allow applications will be stored on the SD card. This greatly limits the features of the Tablet and I understand that Dell is completely insensitive to this topic. I have a 3840 and the same thing is apparently true - my Tablet being free, I can't complain, but you may want to return it for a refund of your tablet.

    Customer and technical support from Dell has background in recent years, and there is no sign that Michael Dell, or someone else in the company. In the long term, unless they have made improvements, I would expect normally this negligence to ring the death knell for Dell. However, these days, it doesn't seem like all corporations care about support. It's all about maximizing profits and minimize service.

    I hope I'm wrong and there is a way to save the apps on the SD card, but I have read in several places that can't do.

    Good luck.

  • Clean install of Windows 7: where to find the Dell Foundation Services?

    I'm doing a clean reinstall of Windows 7 on my new XPS-8700.  I downloaded the drivers and the software that is listed for my service on the Dell drivers & download site tag.

    But there are a few "Dell" items listed in my Start Menu > programs that I have not found on the Dell website.  I'm not sure of their purpose, my need for them, where to find download or how to reinstall them after my new installation of windows.

    Dell data services

    Dell Foundation services

    Dell help documentation (Edocs viewer)

    Accidental damage Services Agreement

    BancTec Service Agreement

    Complete care Service of Business agreement

    Consumer in-Home Service Agreement

    Dell Home Systems Service Agreement

    Premium Service Agreement

    QualxServ Service contract

    These items are installed with the Dell SupportAssist program (that I found on the Dell website)?

    I think that service agreements are just PDFs, which I think I've found, but the so-called programs/applications: the data of Dell and Dell Foundation Services?

    Thank you.

    tobymeister,

    The listed items are for your security agreements. They are not installed on your computer and there is no download.

  • How can I activate Windows 2003 STD SP1 OEM Dell on VMware?

    I'm trying to old Dell again P2V VMware.

    P2V seems OK, but I had a problem during the activation.

    When I enter the correct product key, Windows says that the key is unauthorized.

    Of course, I know the license OEM is valid in the old Dell, but I have a valid license of Windows for new VMware as well.

    I would like to know how to proceed to the next step.

  • (Redirected) 2710 XPS Dell all-in-one

    Two years ago I bought direct Dell Computer XPS two 2710 in a computers within six months of each other.  When I bought the original unit is the upper part of the new line all in one computer and since I bought not less than twelve computers Dell directly from Dell in the past seven years for my business at home and gifts and have always been very satisfied with products I started using the unit of Service tag 8GNLBQ1.  There are about six months or 18 months after the purchase, I started to notice that both sides of the screen were becoming dimmer.   I decided to call a reputable technician who works regularly on my computers.   When he ran a diagnostic on the device, he said the monitor was going on and he also checked some rear lights that have a history of failing.   After looking at the unit, he said that I had to contact Dell and he felt that I don't want to run them on this machine as he is an all-in-one device for monitor and tower are combined into a single device that has a nice design, but can be difficult to work on.  About how to contact Dell and after talking to six people in customer service I was said the machine, which is two years old is obsolete and that they do not stock parts or they will try to obtain parts or service.  So basically I asked my last service rep what I do and he said I could get in touch with Geek Squad, they may be able to get the part.  Maybe, but probably not.  So I asked the Dell could attempt to get the replacement part and service?  No, he said, that the model is at the end of life.  END OF LIFE.  Two years old and I have a weight of three thousand dollars.  Everyone I spoke with, in the premises of Dell Customer Service was in India, everyone I spoke with basically told Dell really do not care a good customer who has more than one of these machines.  The company line is a two year old computer that just introduced one year previously, it was end of LIFE.  Another words computer Dell manufactured these units and they have design flaws that are deadly, and they are not behind their products.  The screen on normal computers can be replaced easily just buy a new, but with these machines, you can not replace the monitor because it is All In One.  Beautiful as it is that it's a pretty expensive paper weight.  Sad, that Dell doesn't care on the client or its reputation in this case just run faster that you can from a faulty design.

  • Connection continues deleting Windows 10 Dell XPS 8300

    Hi all

    I have problems with my Dell XPS 8300, I installed the new 10 windows a few weeks back and since the installation of connection to internet keeps falling.

    My internet is with Virgin Media and I connect directly via an Ethernet cable to the router.

    Said my Broadcom Netlink gigabit Ethernet network card

    After doing some research I think my card is called BCM57788

    Thank you

    I'm glad to hear that I am not on my lonesome.

    I did as you did and downloaded the Intel scanner from their site. The only thing he told me was that I need a later version. INF file.

    I also watched the page drivers Dell, which is not up-to-date. Intel reported the update is not listed, but there is a BIOS update, when I try to apply it, saying that it is older than the current version. Not very useful.

    I'd install the Intel update but I'm not sure if it will work. There are a lot of guard, but not much reassure layouts.

    On top of that, Dell does not do anything to see if my machine is able to win 10.

    As usual, Dell are completely behind the curve on this.

  • Dell has the worst customer service!

    Most of the software companies / work hard to make a good impression on the computer science majors at the University. Reference left Dell dropped the ball with my son. I bought my major computer science son top of the dell XPS 15 line computer and added 3 years for a $400 premium support. Last semester so that the computer is under warranty the laptop would experience a Mouse/touchpad freeze when tilted 10 degrees on one side. My son was busy with his studies and not not told me about this, but got Saturday last Summa * Laude honors program. He bought his computer dell laptop home and told me about the issue. I called dell technical support who said the laptop was a few months out of warranty and we were ourselves. I called several times and transferred several times and finally reached the climbing Department. Bottom line was dell cares more about profits than to make a good impression on a new computer systems hired prior to obtaining by a 14 b American company analyst. If it was me I would have made an exception and let a new researcher in computer science with a good impression of dell instead of burning all the bridges and leaving an aftertaste when my son or I (a computer scientist of 27 years) think of dell. The problem is a hardware and probably because of the bad workmanship. Be aware and avoid especially the service dell customer who cares about the customer and dell.

    Hello!  Reference Dell is generally good with their guarantees as most computer companies, especially after 3 years. You can talk with Dell - Robert P. here and see if there's anything he can do to help.

  • My DELL turns off suddenly without any Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

    Hi people,

    My pc is a DELL VOSTRO 2521. It has two graphics cards: 4000 Intel and ATI AMD Radeon HD M 7576.
    The problem occurs for the first time about a month ago, my computer just turns off by itself all of a sudden without any BSOD, and there is no error report after I start the pc.
    First of all, I thought that it's my battery that moves sometimes, so I thought it's my HARD drive, then I thought that it's my hdmi/connection port, then I thought that it's my usb ports, then finally I don't know exactly what is causing this problem. I do some Checkup using DELL PC Checkup, no problem found.

    Please I need help, this is an embarrassing problem.

    Thanks in advance!

    NO.

    Your key will not work.  If you got it from DELL that they need to replace it.  If you don't have a Dell, you must purchase a valid license.

  • validations, triggered exceptions and internationalized error messages

    Hello world

    I want to create an application in multiple languages.

    I wrote the PL/SQL functions for operations of C (R) UD (that are called through the Apex) - but without validation. All the validation code is still in the GUI/APEX, because as Apex...

    • gives me the opportunity to translate my error messages later
    • allows me to assign a validation for an input field error

    But is it possible to...

    • put the validation in the PL/SQL functions?
    • always be able to establish an error for an input field?

    It would be good to have 1 exception for several columns, but then, Apex do not know in what field of entry error occurred, right?

    But even if I have for example a NO_POSITIVE_NUMBER_IN_COLUMN_1 and a NO_POSITIVE_NUMBER_IN_COLUMN_2 exception, it would be possible for Apex display error messages without counting as the right input fields?

    If so, how is that possible? I know there is a new function Apex 4.1 error handling option, but this means that the function needs to know that will be triggered every single exception?

    And where the translation take place?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jules

    Justin

    Instead of trigger an error, use apex_error.add_error to add the validation error to the error stack.

    With the help of the apex.add_error shows the messages as is they where of regular postings.

    PROCEDURE insert_values(p_param1 ..., p_param2 ...) IS
    BEGIN
         IF p_param1 IS NULL THEN
            validation_failed := TRUE;
            apex_error.add_error(
      p_message=>'VALIDATION_NOT_NULL',
      p_display_location =>apex_error.c_inline_with_field_and_notif,
      p_page_item_name =>'P1_ITEM1_NAME'
     );
        END IF;

        IF p_param2 IS NULL THEN
            validation_failed := TRUE;
         apex_error.add_error(
      p_message=>apex_lang.message(p_message=>'VALIDATION_NOT_NULL',p0=>'Label P2_ITEM_NAME'),
      p_display_location =>apex_error.c_inline_with_field_and_notif,
      p_page_item_name =>'P1_ITEM2_NAME')
     );
        END IF;
    END;

    In the literature, there is the following note:

    This procedure must be called before the Application Express application has completed the last validation or process. Otherwise, the error is ignored if it does not display a location of apex_error.c_on_error_page .

    This means that you need to separate your actions of dml validation checks.

    Note that I have show 2 different methods for translations in the example above.

    For P1_ITEM1_NAME, the translation is done centralized in your handeling custom error function.

    For P1_ITEM2_NAME, the translation is done directly with the validation.

    Also note that postings not null is a bad example because they are defined by the parameters of page elements.

  • Validation of a field has content before allowing the user to move to the next field

    I posted the discussion for the completion of the validation before printing and that I thought more last night, I need to change because I need to allow for our stores print the blanks of the form in certain situations.

    Before continuing the validation before printing, I tried to display an error message if a required field is empty before you move to the next field.  I tried the following scripts:

    #1

    {if (!) Event.Target.valueAsString)}

    app.alert ("this field must be complete. (Please enter the name of the customer', 3);

    }

    This script worked as I used it with "The blur", but after displaying the error message, it went to the next field.  You try to save the field name, threw up the error message for the next field (I have several fields in a line that are needed).

    #2

    f = getField (Event.Target.Name)

    if(f.Value.Length==0)

    {

    f.setFocus)

    app.alert ("this field must be complete. Please enter the name of the customer')

    }

    I used this with "On Blur" too, but I was getting into a loop in which the error message go away, and I have to kill the application.

    #3

    if(Event.Value.Length<2)
    {
    Example of Message

    App.Alert ("this field must contain 9 digits.")
    Event.RC = false;
    }

    I tried this script with the validation feature.  It will not work with any value lower than 2.

    As I mentioned previously, I'm new to scripting, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Do you mean that you want to run if the user in a field empty then tablets out of it?

    For this, you can use something like this that the OnBlur event (of course, set the name of the field according to your):

    If ((this.getField("customerName").) Value == "")
    {
    App.Alert ("this field must be complete. Please enter the name of the customer');
    this.getField("CustomerName").setFocus ();
    }

  • Bytes to Port property node. When to use and when not?

    Hi all

    Ive frequently used bytes to port property node performing bed series and have not experienced any problems.  I've heard mixed on this subject reviews and I would like to know when to use and when not to use it.

    Thanks for any input.

    I will start by when it should not be used.

    When there are (as readable) ASCII data to come through and it is separated by a termination character.  Select the stop character and read more bytes than you ever expect a given message.

    When there are binary data, but a protocol where you know clearly how the message package is put in place.  In this case, you want to disable the stop character because any octet can be given legitimate and be interpreted as the stop character.  With these protocols, if you know the message is always X bytes, read X bytes.  If the message is of variable length, but the Protocol is set to tell you low for a long time the message is, and then make partial readings.  So if each message starts with 2 bytes that says follow X bytes.  Then read 2 bytes, which converted to a number, then read this number of bytes.

    When to use:

    The only time will really use bytes to the port is if you use a terminal of the installation type.  Just enter and display on-screen what never happens happened at the port since the last time it was read.  When you don't care where are message breaks.

    If you use bytes to the port and care message breaks, then you're obligated to all your new message concatenated to a string, you store in a shift register and each reading analysis through data to determine if you have a complete message and valid.  If you do not, do nothing and go back and read more.  In fact, you will need to run through the chain of data several times in a row before coming back to reread in the case where the message ever resulted in a single reading packets.

    The vast majority of applications falls into one of the above situations.  The last situation is not as common, and if you use bytes to the port with a system of e-mail that has defined a defined protocol or packages, you do a job more in programming to maintain a software buffer of data as well as the hardware buffer to the serial port.
