  Dell has not tested XPS 1330 with WIndows 8. For more information, refer to link: http://dell.to/Qjs0rN you can uninstall and reinstall the audio driver in compatibility mode for Vista, which might work. You can download the driver from the link: http://dell.to/VMql23

  Download the driver-> right click the Setup file of the applications and select tab properties / compatibility--> click on apply / OK--> click on file and choose the run as administrator option to install.

  Dell Inspiron N 5010 with 8 beeps indicates the LCD or the failure of the LCD screen cable. However, ask you to try following the below steps that might help:

  (1) turn off your computer.

  (2) remove all external devices such as adapter, USB key, battery, etc.

  (3) press and hold the power for 30 seconds button, freeing up of static electricity on the computer (if any).

  (4) now replace the battery and plug the charger.

  (5) let the load on the computer for awhile.

  (6) now try to turn on the computer if the same problem occur, then you can use an external monitor and check to see if the same problem happens.

  I recently implemented an Inspiron laptop, 1585, with MediaDirect feature.  After the first boot on Vista, I realized there was no place for a data partition, so I decided to make a.  Before you change anything, I did a complete HARD drive (or so I thought) with 2 different softwares, on an external HARD drive.  I used for this Image from TerabyteUnlimited for Windows 2 and O & O DiskImage Pro 3.

  Then I reduced the size of the Vista Partition, increased the size of the extended partition that contains MediaDirect and created a data partition.  After turning off the power, I checked the feature MediaDirect, pressing the 'home' button near the power button.  I realized that MD was not start any longer.

  So I decided to put the HARD drive in its original state.  But IFW both O & O DI3 failed, at least, could not recover the MediaDirect feature.  After restoration, Vista is OK, the recovery of Dell and Dell utility also, what Dell MediaDirect, which does not start.  Instead, it is Vista that starts when you press the home key.

  I tried to use the MediaDirect (3.5 ou.6?) CD, but it either erases and repartitionne my HDD in a different way after first poweron (recovery Dell is missing, Dell MediaDirect is 2 GB of big instead of 2.5 GB, etc.).  By using the Vista CD Md also fails.

  Apparently, all partitions are back as they were before I started to change their layout, and the first cylinder of the HARD drive has been restored, so I don't see any clues more on how to fix this.

• Request a product key after 3 years. Product included with Dell original keys do not work.

  Over the past two days, Windows started asking me to validate my product code.  This, despite the fact that I had the same OS since May 2007.  I do not know what prompted the change, but I have two codes of product on the CD provided by Dell.  One is for the OS, the other is for Microsoft Office professional 2007.  The only other CD received with the system is Dell XPS drivers and resources.  No Microsoft Product Code is acceptable for this verification process.

  Which MAY have been prompted by installing a new motherboard - the previous Dell motherboard had to be replaced due to several bad capacitors.  However, not sure how this affects the o/s installed previously.  The computer works in a manner consistent with the change of the motherboard for about 2 weeks now.  The new motherboard is a 2.67 image system and RAM has been improved at the same time to 4 GB.   I thought I would include these changes even if they seem not related to the evolution of the o/s.

  No, in answer to your question - the new motherboard is not made by Dell.  Dell had a problem a few years with the defective capacitors - although there are a few motherboards of Dell stock, there is no interest to replace an original motherboard with bad capacitors, with a new Board of Directors with the same problems.  Dell has replaced bad motherboards a couple of years, but mine had not blown at the time, and I'm not "excluded".

  In addition, the replacement with Dell motherboard is $400 + US dollars for a dual core (and comes with the same potential problem of capacitor), while I was able to get a new card with a quad core locally for about $250.  Is not supposed for several points of view to do otherwise, I think.

  The system doesn't seem to work with a few minor quirks, what are the consequences of inaction?  I can't afford to raise more money on this problem, as I am a student full time and cannot afford to replace the operating system...

  Provided by the Dell original OS keycode will OPERATE ONLY with a card mother Dell. You can buy a new key code which, by chance, usually comes with the installation media.
   
  You may have saved money on the Exchange and got yourself a better computer, but still you have to pay $400 after buying a new operating system. Look on the bright side, for $400, you have a more powerful computer. Consider making Windows 7.

  I just bought a Dell Studio laptop at new years 2009 with the Vista platform.   I had nagging problems with the mouse driver and the touchpad pointer that were completely related software.  These questions were returning back over the months and months.   I've owned about 10 PCs since 1989 and I've never had a bad result like this.   My wife and I have lost 20 to 30 hours of our time looking after him.   This could have the Vista operating platform?   I suffered so much that I made my decision to seriously consider the range of Apple computers.   At this point, I lay the responsibility for the drivers who did not also work on Microsoft and Dell.  20 - 30 hours can go a long way in learning the OS from Apple.    I am a professional project management and professional engineer and can't believe that something as basic as the mouse driver and the driver of the Touchpad was a goner at the launch of the computer screwup.   I guess that the validation of test have been ignored.  I have never been madder with any computer I've owned.  I learned a lesson from this.   Do not trust Dell or Microsoft in the manufacture of new products.  As far as I know Apple users don't get treated this way.

  Sorry, but I really cannot speculate more what happens - or go - with your computer without being able to see the machine. It's the first time, you mentioned a bluetooth mouse and that you have installed the drivers three times. Certainly a bad image would not apply in this case. There are probably other things that pass only someone actually looking at the machine would be able to discern.

  However, since this is a new laptop and you are unhappy with it, return it under warranty and buy something else. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to help you. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

• Dell Streak 7 locks, has power but will not turn on or off... what to do?

  I just got my Dell Streak a little over a month.  This is the second time that happens... don't know what's going on.  It has the power, you can tell because the sidebar lights but can't get anything to come on the screen at all. I tried to turn it off, but it does not work. The last time it happened that I had to wait a whole day for the battery down and then recharge it to make it work again. I just downloaded the upgrade to honeycomb a few days ago and some applications do not work now, which is a total disappointment. Don't care much for the way in which widgets are used in this update... Let the battery run again and see what happens... you wonder if this happened to someone else I just a bad defective model or what.  If this continues will certainly send this service...
