Dell XPS 710 no longer lights.

Hello

My Dell XPS 710 can no longer be run on more.   Whenever the power supply is on, I hear a click to food, but nothing happens nothing works at all, except a light flashing on the front and solid amber light on the motherboard. .  Help, please.

Thank you

The question went after the installation of new acquisitions 1000W PSU.  Also open the old power supply.  Took a few pictures.  See nothing obviously wrong.

If I start the computer and press F12, the hard drive does not work with my drive. Is there another way possible I can reformat my computer? I'm running Vista on this machine.

    Hello

1 - is the computer come pre-installed with the Windows Vista operating system?

    2. do you have a re-setup for the Windows Vista operating system disk?

    3. do you have external hard drives connected to the computer?

    Method 1:

The error indicates that the hard drive has failed. I suggest you to remove or top-sheet all external hard drives except the one in which the operating system is installed and check if the problem persists.

    Method 2:

If you have the Windows installation disc, I suggest to fix the computer using the disk and check if it works.

  • DELL XPS 710 - Windows XP MCE key does not work

    Hello!

I try to reinstall Win XP MCE on my DELL XPS 710.

I downloaded Win XP MCE 2005 CD of Microsoft MSDN Software Repository.

The license on my DELL XPS sticker is in a good shape, so I can read all characters.

But the routine installation of Windows me, says that the key is not valid.

Can you help with this question.

    Thank you.

    Tom

the XP license on your Dell computer is OEM and it's MSDN, retail. The keys are not interchangeable. You have need a version of XP MCE OEM or better yet a Dell XP MCE 2005 DVD of resettlement which will automatically be enabled in the Dell BIOS without entry of a product key.

  • Dell XPS 700 PSU failure

    Hello.
So I have this problem with my diet (I guess) because to turn on my PC (Dell XPS 700), I hear a very quick tick of the PSU and a yellow led blinks constantly. The motherboard also has a light inside. This problem occurred after I tried to install DRR2 RAM for my motherboard because I had only 2GB. In advance, Yes, I did remove the new RAM and put it back in the old RAM, but the question is always composed. What I want to know is: what is the real problem, and if I have to put the money to repair, this replacement should I expect?

As a side note, it's perhaps irrelevant, but I remember well the computer incorrectly. Off time to "Shut" took more than 30 minutes, so I just pressed the power button, until it is turned off. It might cause the issue, I don't know, I just thought it was remarkable.

The power supplies used in the 700/710/720 were the same. The question is to FIND a such that the power supply is propitiatory.

I'm leaning more towards the motherboard because these cards are really very fragile and are prone to failure at a pretty good pace.  There are controls on the motherboard that can cause food to act funny.

As for two components a diet would be the cheaper to buy. You'll have to scout on sites like Ebay but to find a.

The same would be valid for a motherboard and a jury of 700 I really think that most are non-existent. If you can find one, they are on the pricey side.

Wish I could be more positive, but the fact that you have another one of these systems, which was still running is somewhat surprising. Most are now in a heap of junk now.

  • DELL XPS 8700 Motherboard power LED

    Hello

I recently bought a DELL XPS 8700 desktop computer.

Recently, I noticed that there is this orange light shining inside even when I shut down my PC.

I opened it and realized that it's this LED power on the motherboard.

Maybe I've just not noticed it before, but is - it normal that the power light is on constantly?

    Thank you!

Quite normal. That LED means that the motherboard is powered "flea" power supply as long as the power supply is plugged into an outlet active.

If you unplug the PC of the plug and press / hold down the power button for about 15 seconds, the LED on the motherboard turns off.

Find something else to worry about.

  • XPS 400 boot - diag lights on 1,2,3 - flashing cursor upper left side

When I turn on my XPS 400, the diag lights flash: 1 and 4, then 3 and 4, then 2 and 4 and then they settle on 1, 2 and 3. seeing the HD works a little longer and then the only other thing that happens is there is a black screen with the cursor in the upper left of the screen.

According to the manual, this model means "another failure has occurred."  I checked the cd/dvd cables and they were ok.  It is not for me to check error codes.

Based on other posts that I saw that I saw on the flashing cursors I tried to start up with no USB device connected. No luck.  I also tried to boot with my XP Dell installation cd as well as my cd bootable Acronis, and it does not work, but light on each of my optical drives, so the problem is probably something else.

I am not able to use F2 because I do not understand the Dell screen.

The only new think I did recently was slipstream an XP installation to another computer with Nlite cd.  So that all the other OS XP install disk are in the C: root directory, so I thought that there could be a conflict, but that seems fairly likely.

Please let me know what I might try.

    Thanks, Chris

  • Dell XPS M1530, Dell Webcam, webcam,

I bought a Dell XPS M1530 Laptop on a couple of years and now I'm having a problem with my webcam that is built into my computer. I should mention that there was a time not to long ago I was in line, and all of a sudden my computer went black and turned off the coast of himself. When the computer restarts, a black screen appears and a list began to form and it seems that random when being removed from the files. I panicked and turned off my computer immediately. I think that there was some damage, but I hope I saved my computer to have all its deleted files. in any case, after that incident, my webcam did not work. Skype and regular Dell webcam center. Everytime I open the Dell webcam Manager and double click on the center of Webcam I get this message:

C:\Windows\system32\WMASF. DLL is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the provider of software for support.

I tried to use my cd Dell Drivers and utilities as well as the blue drivers and utilities already installed on your computer to reinstall Dell Webcam Manager and nothing seems to happen.

    Help, please

    Thank you

  • My Dell XPS 630i cannot manage a 960 GTX GPU?

Hi, I've been a fan for a long time in this forum, it has helped me MANY times! -I hope that it can help with this problem. I have a Dell XPS 630i, and I would like to upgrade the graphics card for a GTX 960. -Can the system handle it? Is it compatible?

    My system:
    Dell 630i XPX
    Win 7 Pro
    4 GB OF RAM
    Stock power supply 750W
    SATA 500 GB hd
two 8800 GT SLI vid cards
1.0.12 BIOS that is installed on the PC.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I know that there is a new version of BIOS on the Dell Web site for this (1.0.13), system but before the upgrade, I would like to know if this installation is possible even first (never updated the BIOS before and no sense to do if not compatible). Thank you.

I just did this, Dell xps 630i 2.4 ghz x 4 8 GB ram. installed the evga gtx 960 only problem is this card takes a pcie 8 pins. the seller has provided adapper taking two 6-pin pCI to a 8 pins. works very well...

  • Looking to update the graphics card in my Dell XPS 8900 EVGA GeForce GTX 960.

I have a Dell XPS 8900 Special Edition that I bought a few months ago. I want to upgrade the OEM GeForce 745 of GTX that it came with an EVGA GTX 960.

I have the Dell XPS 8900 (processor i7 - 6700 k), 32 GB of memory, 2 TB HDD + SSD of 32 GB m2, monitor cache Dell UP2516D and Windows 10 Pro. I'll add a second monitor Dell UP2516D soon and later add an SSD and move the OS and applications on.

My needs are not at stake. I mainly business applications (MS-Office, including access and project), finance and investment, and a lot of photo and video editing.  Photo editing software uses the GPU if I update.

EVGA has suggested either of the following, based on what would be good:

    http://www.EVGA.com/products/product.aspx?PN=04G-P4-1961-KR

    http://www.EVGA.com/products/product.aspx?PN=04G-P4-3963-KR

    These cards are almost identical except;

    #1 is long of 6.8 ", has 1 BIOS, 1 fan and use 128 watts for $160

#2 is 10.1 "long, has 2 BIOS, 2 fans and consume 160 watts for $170

I thought I would replace the graphics card myself, but once I opened the folder, I was wondering if the two cards will even fit.  I saw that other people have swapped their graphics card, so it must be possible.

When I look in my case, the existing graphics card is a single location.  These two cards are double slot.  In addition, it seems that there are a few transistors just next to the existing card.  When you install a card double slot, the new map is just overlap the transistors under?

Finally, in view of these two cards and the XPS 8900 case, is it possible to put the card in?  Is it worth the extra $ 10 earn an extra BIOS and fan, to the detriment of one more card of time and 12 watts?

Any help or thoughts are greatly appreciated, thank you.

Dual cards fit without any problem. Many have improved their 8900 XPS and 8700 with cards that need two slots of width.

I prefer the models dual fan as they run cooler. They have a bigger heat sink and with relatively low heat from GTX 960, some are silent at idle because the fans do not work.

For example, MSI GTX 970 son fan only above a certain temp that only happens every game. Maybe the EVGA card did the same thing. It is nice to have a quiet system at idle.

Regarding the adjustment, the MSI GTX 970 games 4 G card Dimensions are (mm) 140 x 277 x 35. Length and height are tight but it fits without cutting.

In addition, as noted speedstep you run SATA cables under the card. I replaced the SATA cables with longer cables, so they route toward the front of the box, then under the graphics card and upward.

This thread has many cards different people have added. (the link is on page 26) and about the halfway point is my son with the MSI GTX 970 system, which (I think) is slightly larger that the EVGA 960 you listed.  It also shows the case mod to add a front fan.

  • Dell XPS 18 overheats and stops

Hi guys. I have a Dell xps 18 who has recently developed a problem. With or without overloading the processor temperature starts randomly on the rise and the machine stops at about 57 to 62 degrees. Sometimes it's very good and sometimes it keeps it doing back to back. My computer has the replacement motherboard i3. The original has stopped charging the battery (plugged in, not not supported message) so I bought a motherboard replaced about 8 months ago. It has good cpu paste and everything worked fine until recently. Even he stops when it is in the BIOS. I was wondering, is it than 60 degrees is a dangerous temperature that is forcing the closure of the motherboard? The idle temp is about 30 to 40 degrees, then it suddenly starts to go up until 60, then dies. He does especially when is overload (no game, some software open), but still it goes up sometimes when he's just sitting there with nothing running in the background. I have to go on eBay new fan buy my second replacement card mother now lol? Any suggestion? I like my XPS 18 and it has served me well but have these serious problem began to really put me off it. Thank you very much.

just an update on my problem with heat. the card mother ew (i3 US$ 50) arrived and installed a few weeks, I have been using and test the DEll XPS 18 heavily for the past few weeks without any problem so far. the operating temperature is 49 c (use slow and light) to 60 ° c (very busy) but now the motherboard stop no more. I also decided to use an additional quantity of thermal paste and I think the fan is working a lot quieter and less now. My problem was a faulty motherboard and then at the end second MB less than a year. I wonder when I will return here and announce that I am ready for a third replacement card mother lol

  • Dell xps 13 restarts immediately after stopping down

    Hey,.
I bought my new dell xps 13 a month ago to Microsoft online store and had with 10 Windows.
From the first moments, the laptop won't stop. If I try to stop it, it will stop down and a millisecond after it restarts already.

I checked devices (USB, tuchped etc.) for power management options does not allow them to turn on the computer and also checked for differences in integrity and found nothing.

    What could be?

    Thank you

    Shahar

This has been a problem of knowing for a while... Do not know if he is connected to W10 or Dell...

Temp solution: press and hold the power button until the computer turns off completely. Wait 1 min and then turn it back on (important to wait at least 1 minute).

Long-term (!) solution is to transform the hibernation that is made in advance for your power management settings. The standard is '180 min', set to 0.

    Hello

Another problem with my new Dell XPS 13 (model 9333) - for any reason, during loading or no, changes in brightness screen without saying me things to do (she just made right now by writing this sentence!).

Any ideas on why this is happening? It's kinda like a light automatic on a smartphone but much more random thing! It really starts to wreck really my head.

Any help appreciated no matter how silly it sounds!

I found a setting called "enable adaptive brightness" which seems to turn off this nonsense.  On Win8.1, it is:
