DELL XPS 8100 noisy fan on Windows7 SP1

I always noticed something with my DELL XPS 8100 Windows7 Home Premium.

The original system came with the Seagate ST31000528AS, whenever the system was rebuilt from the reinstallation DVD, I noticed that if the drivers from DELL has not been installed, the fan would be extremely noisy nonstop.

Recently my hard drive went, I bought a digital WS1003FZEX of Western.  Guess what, the DVD of resettlement is unable to complete Windows on it, I guess that the device was not supported at this time there.  I got a copy of Windows7 SP1 DVD of the trial and was able to install Windows7 Home Premium using the DELL license key.  The only problem, the fan noise is unbearable, even if I had asked all the drivers for DELL.  Can anyone recommend how to fix this annoying fan?  Do you know all the drivers that are required at this address?  Unfortunately, DELL has no new drivers for my out of the Service Tag support.

Also, I tried the Technical Preview of Windows 10, the fan is very quiet.  Windows 10 is finally out, I heard that Windows7 users should be able to switch to Windows 10 free supposingly.

The noise finally put fan hands on a picture of Windows7 without SP1, disappeared after having installed the drivers from DELL.  Don't know what SP1 was that the pilots did not help.

Thank you for responding to this post.

I'm looking to upgrade my Dell XPS 8100 power OEM 350W at a minimum 550W power supply so I can install a Blu - Ray reader & writer drive, & so I can replace the ATi Radeon HD 5570 1 GB GDRR5 graphics card with 2 GB or 4 GB of GDDR5. What would be a good power supply for my computer?

    Here are my specs:

    Intel Core i7-870,

    16 GB of DDR3 Ram(was 8GB but I upgraded to 16GB),

    HD 1.5 TB,

    ATi Radeon HD 5570 1 GB GDDR5.

In addition, this card will work fine with my computer:

& What will be a good Blu - Ray burner for my computer which is not too expensive?

    But...

740 GT is not much faster that the Radeon 5570 then this isn't much of an upgrade. What do you who needs 4 GB of RAM - V?

If you go with a GT 740, according to me, he can use less energy than the 5570, and if you buy a 'green' BluRay burner, it can use less energy than your current optical drive.

  • Dell xps 8100; Disk failure hard error 2000-0142 0 self test status 79

Hi guys, I was wandering in the forums for a few hours, now looking for ana response to this question, and can't find anything clear. I have a XPS 8100 that I run a diagnostic and received a 2000-0142 error code that says MSG: error code 2000-0142 hard drive FAILURE 0 self-test status: 79 based on what I read in the forum is that there is a disk failure, and the only recourse is to solve the problem in my view is to replace the drive. Firstly, can someone please give me an absolute confirmation that it is indeed what I have to do, or is there something else I should do to fix this problem first? If a replacement drive is there someone could please tell me how can I do to get my OEM software off the coast of the partition recovery and on my new drive. I now office preinstalled and, of course, premium Windows 7 I would like to see on my new hard drive and I was not provided with one of the disks at the time of purchase. Thanks in advance to all those who respond

    Hi XPS8100kid,

Welcome to the Dell Community Forum.

The 200-0142 error is for hard drive failure and you need to replace the hard drive.

Since the hard drive has not, you would not be able to access the partition recovery on it. Data would be lost and the software already installed on your computer will need to be reinstalled.

Windows 7 will need to be installed on the new hard drive. Please click the link below to get the procedure of re - install Windows 7.

If based in the United States, you can ask for the backup drives by clicking the link below:

I would like to know if additional assistance is needed.

  • Dell XPS 8100 windows 10 update?

Anyone have successfully improved a XPS 8100 to Windows 10? Microsoft says it is compatible, but Dell said it does not test Windows drivers for Windows 10 for this model and some things may not work

I have Windows 7 64-bit. My inclination does not do despite aggressive reminders every day.

I have a XPS 8100 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed.  I accepted the invitation of Ms. development upgraded to Windows 10 64-bit in August and apart from having to reinstall a few minor applications, have had no aging with the upgrade.

  • Dell XPS 8100 PSU and GPU updates

So heads up, I've never updated a computer in this way before. I opened the box a few times to clean the old GPU and replace the old with the new GTX 260 240 when I got it, but beyond that nothing. I know that I need to upgrade my GPU, fortunately, my best friend gave me a GTX 750 Ti 2048 MB PCIe graphic card and I wonder if I could install in my XPS 8100 and already use it. I was told that in the Dell 350W POWER supply is sufficient to run it, but I'm not sure and would like to double check.

However, should I I need a new power supply, I was told that SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE certified Active PFC power supply PSU will fit the Dell case but here a double confirmation directly from Dell forums - especially after a call with Dell technical support told me that there is no way to upgrade the PSU. There is also the modular version M12II, but it seems that the dimensions on this would mean that he did not fit into the XPS 8100?

    Ruinus

The GTX 750 Ti 2048 MB PCIe graphics card should work fine with the default power of XPS 8100.

  • Fan Dell XPS PC upstairs with no start-up of the thread

    Hello

There is a strange problem in my PC. Recently, I haven't used the PC for a few days, but when I turned it on today, could hear a fan noise noisy coming to the PC with the diagnostic lights 1, 3 and 4 illuminated and a white screen in power save. I tried to understand what happened and when I pressed on the DVI plug into the slot of the PC, the PC fan slows down (at normal speed) and the PC began to start. It happened every time you start (in this case, twice). Remedies?
    Specifications of the PC:
Dell XPS 420 (desktop computer with the last BIOS update)
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
Genuine Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 x 32 (updated)
    3 GB RAM
    HARD DRIVE 500 GB
2 GB Nvidia GeForce GT 220 (latest updates of pilot)

    Hello

  • Replacement radiator/fan CPU in Studio XPS 8100 problems

I'm looking to replace the CPU fan/radiator in my Studio XPS 8100 desktop computer, using a Dell model 0TJ5T2 (http://i.imgur.com/NMu2wYk.jpg is my actual unit).  The Amazon seller, I ordered it from class compatible with the 8100 XPS (www.amazon.com/.../B008B9MUJ6; redirect = true & ref_ = oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00), but I'm having an extremely difficult time, install the new fan.  The screws on the line of the fan with the holes on the motherboard upward; but when I press firmly on one of their chiefs/Springs, the screw's not going deep enough to really catch on anything whatsoever (and pressure usually ends up causing the heatsink to slip away from the CPU).  Y at - it something I am doing wrong, or this model fan is not really compatible with the 8100?

There is a thread X on the bottom of the motherboard heatsink live in.

If this is not the same then its wrong son.

  • Dell Studio XPS too noisy!

I have a Dell Studio XPS 9000 with a Radeon 5870 graphics card that makes too much noise. I think it is the fan noise. I called technical support, which replaced two fans. Did not help - if anything, it is now more noisy he was! All idling, it is not quiet.

The system is about a year. (Is there more than the 2 fans in the system by the way?)

    (1) can anyone suggest how this system down?

    (2) I contacted a vendor third 3d that makes fans more silent, so-called, but the seller must exact model or type numbers or something Dell fans. Does anyone know how to find out exactly what kind of fans are in the Dell XPS and also exactly what solutions third-party 3d for quieter fans there are, if any?

It is also an old thread, you should start a new one.

I assume you mean a Studio XPS 9000.

This model according to the configuration guide, has no onboard video and no on-board video port is shown in the figure on page 20 of this installation guide. If you cannot select video...

What do you mean by "the noise of the fan? It's just the fan spins at high speed or is it squealing or some other noise?

You can open the case and make sure the fan and vents are clean. Use canned air to blow 5 - year-old dust of all components.

And if this started after a recent update of MS, you can consult the Web of AMD site for an updated driver for the video card today, that works with any version of Windows that you are using before you spend money unnecessarily.

  • Studio xps 8100 fan speed

I have a studio xps 8100. The cpu fan started reving to about 3000 rpm, then back to 300 rpm around every 8 seconds. There is no adjustment of the fan in my bios, and I have the latest version of the BIOS update. I blew all the dust. I went from fans with my wifes computer and she always does so is not the fan itself.  I installed speedfan is watch without adjustments for the speed of the fans, he didn't tell my the CPU cores are running around 40 to 50 degrees Celsius and the chart for fan1 up and down from 300 to more than 3000 rpm. Any ideas on what is the problem and how can I solve this problem? The fan slows to 300 RPM will damage my CPU? Appreciate any help I get. Thank you.

    @MJAyr - I sent you a msg.

  • Fan stopped working Dell XPS 15z. 2000 Code Validation error - 0511 9216 (HELP!?)

I have a laptop Dell XPS 15z August 2012, and it works fine, until I noticed today that the fan stopped and my laptop was heating and immediately turn off during the games online, or even if I'm playing music with iTunes. He stopped turning since the night of June 1.

  • Question of graphics Dell Studio XPS 8100

I plan to upgrade my desktop computer Dell Studio XPS 8100 with a new graphics card, so that I can play new games such as Skyrim and Star Wars the old republic.

Can someone tell me which of these cards is best for this purpose, corresponds to my computer and if other changes are needed (ideally no)?

    EVGA GTX 550 VGA (GDDR5, PCI-Express, 2 GB)
    Sapphire 6750 (PCI Express, DDR3, 2 GB)
    Sapphire 6790 (PCI-Express, GDDR5, 1 GB)
PALIT GTX 550 Ti (GDDR5, PCI Express, 1 GB)

    Thanks in advance,

    Sikkaech

Based on the recommended for Skyrim card, you will need to go with the HD 6790 or GTX 550 it.  However, your biggest problem is food that is only 350 watts.  For all these cards, a higher power is recommended by the manufacturer.  The HD 6790 is the best on the list with the GTX 550 Ti in 2nd.  I'll take the other two on your list because they would fall the recommended card, but they would always play the games.   I would recommend if you upgrade the power supply to go with a unit of minimum mark of 500 watts with the necessary connections.

Skyrim recommended card: 1 GB RAM NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).  Old video card then the ones I showed would be comparable.

If you choose not to change your diet, a GTS 450 or HD 6750 can work.  I don't see much interest to get a card of 2 GB to this level.  It's going to be better than GDDR3 memory GDDR5.

  • What is the cheapest video card that will work in a Dell Studio XPS 8100?

Map of 5770 in my Studio XPS 8100 seems to be dying.  The screen keeps have corrupted and I can't do anything until I restart, then it happens after a few minutes.  I have a corsair cx430 power supply installed.

The only weird thing I've noticed is that when it is started in safe mode the display seems to work perfectly.

This machine is my server machine, so I only need to make a minimum of working directly on the machine.

I think I should just replace the video card.  What is the cheapest video card / lowest which will work in my 8100?

    Thank you

    Jamie

The Sapphire 6450 is a video card large budget.

  • Studio XPS 8100, GPU upgrades?

Nice day. I hope an expert can help me.

My computer: Desktop computer Studio XPS 8100 Dell, intel Core i7 870 2.93 GHz, 8 MB, etc.
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240 single memory 1 GB. Reading, not sold at retail and is now no longer available

I do not use the computer to play games. Graphics card fan started making noise and heat, perhaps should be changed. I can on this card - EVGA GeForce GT 620 700 MHz HDMI PCI-Express could it be a compatible replacement. CCAN you Please provide DETAILS for me a graphics card in replacement of approximately the same 'power' +. I can myself, slot load driver and be operational. No not in the evolution of the other pieces. In the meantime, thank you for your help.

    FDES

You've always had a "have a constant orange light on the motherboard" means that you have AC and 5v standby is available.  If you have no light there is no input power and so you will NEVER turn. The day before on the card itself power light. Once the PC is plugged in and power supply is turned on, even if the PC is always OFF. Because the LED is about the size of a bullet, some call it at the flea market.
