Dell XPS 8700 does not, the button only noting

Moved to my computer last night and now nothing happens when you click the power button. When it is plugged into the motherboard, there is an orange light and when I press the button the back of the power supply, the LEd alongside lights up green and the fans kick on. Put another power supply in and still no go. Is my switch the next logical culprit? Always used to power on with all the power cord plugged in. The light in the power switch of the doses not at all

After 5-6 hours of messing around with it I finally could get his start by pressing the power button / 30 or 40 times as has been mentioned in another thread.  So I guess somehow my power button mechanism is screwed, but at least I know what it is... could not come down from the top initially but will try the next time I have the problem.

  • Dell XPS 8700 - failure of the keyboard when the bios boot (but not when Windows is loaded)

My Dell XPS 8700 has 10 Windows and a Logitech Keyboard wireless, connected by USB. The keyboard works absolutely fine when Windows has loaded. I have the latest version of the bios, A11.

However, when the computer is turned on and starts the bios start, it displays 'Keyboard Failure' on the screen for about half a second. When I try to go into the bios setup by pressing "F2" at the counter (I keep typing "F2" from the moment when I press the power button on the computer), there is no answer. The "keyboard failure" and inability to enter the bios setup seems to happen if I do a cold immediately after a stop start, a cold start after the computer is turned off for an extended period or a reboot.

I tried to connect the wired keyboard original Dell one of the USB ports on the front of the unit (without disconnecting the wireless keyboard) with the same problem at the start of the bios.

I encountered this problem on versions of bios A11 both A03. I know that in the past, although I don't remember when - I was able to enter the bios setup by pressing "F2".

Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

You can try and reset the CMOS. It will return your settings to factory settings, but not the version. Usually, this erases these problems because CMOS stores data editable such as your wireless keyboard settings. BIOS stores the information about the basic material that is unchangable as your keyboard usb, mouse and other essential equipment. If you notice, when you just plugin any keyboard and mouse, its recognized at startup. Your needs software to run wireless device and that is stored in the CMOS.

So once reset you the CMOS, you may need to then install the wireless software.

    Good luck.

Just got a new Dell XPS 8700 with windows 7 Home premium.

After installing the software (Office Home 365) and Google Chrome, I wanted to go to Safe Mode to run Malwarebytes to a baseline scan.

I tried F8 during the restart and was never able to do in Windows safe mode.

    What I'm doing wrong, here?

    Hello

If F8 is not able to get the safe mode. Try this procedure below.

    1. Open the command run (Windows + R) and type "msconfig" in the run cmd.
    2. Click OK
    3. In the msconfig window-> click Diagnostic startup-> click OK.
    4. Reboot your system.
    5. It will go safe mode automatically in your system.
    6. If you want to return this process, follow the steps up to three-> click normal startup-> OK

  • DELL XPS 8700 compatible with the monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2232 office

HI - can anyone confirm that the DELL XPS 8700 desktop computer is compatible with the monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2232.

Already, I have the monitor, but need a new processor unit.

    Thank you...

    Hi yydelilah,

The monitor has VGA and DVI ports.

By default, XPS 8700 comes with HDMI and display port.  If the system is configured with a discrete card, and this card has DVI/VGA port, you will be able to connect to this monitor.

  • XPS 8700 does not start after the upgrade memory RAM

    Dear members of the Forum.

I have a XPS 8700 with the following specifications:

    Core i7 4770 k

    2 TB HARD DRIVE

    16 GB of Ram (4 x 4 GB)

    NVidia GTX 660 (1.5 GB)

    BIOS version A10 (later).

RAM sticks in my current system are all Micron Tech (here) 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3 12800 240pin 1.5V 1600 MT/s.

I had two RAM modules of tech Micron (here) 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3 12800 240pin 1.5V 1600 MT/s so that I can move on to a total of 24 GB.

After the discussion here and here, I installed the modules in slots 1 & 2 (both white) so that the system is not able to start. Not even got the bios screen. I also tried 3 & 4 configuration (both black) I ran my computer with the two 8 GB sticks only, with the same unfortunate results.

I also saw that it is a normal problem of compatibility problems between the types of ram, but I consider that this is not the case. In addition, bad positioning of the modules is not also the case because if I put my old ram glue the computer starts normally.

I used tape you will static isolation.

Is the problem, a problem of compatibility between my computer and the RAM modules?

If the RAM is damaged does these effects (do not start)?

How can I check if the RAM modules are damaged?

    What would be your suggestions?

I thank very you much in advance!

    Mauricio

Hmm, I'd say you two bad sticks of RAM.  If the system POST even with them, I would swap them if you can.  We know that the RAM slots work because you have 4 x 4 sticks without any problem and your computer can take up to 32 GB of RAM.  Your admission that you bought the right kind of RAM, voltage, and speed, etc., so that shouldn't be a problem.  I would say as bad RAM.  When you do not install, just check that you make pairs in each of the colored slots, for example. matching pairs in the slot of white and black.

  • Dell XPS 8500 does not start after the interruption of system restore

It was one thing to do, but I turned off my PC during the restoration of the system because he took time to complete the process.  The next day I couldn't boot into windows.  I tried the automatic repair feature, but it does not work.  I tried to repair windows using the orignal installation disk, but it does not work.  I tried to install Windows 8 all over again, but I got an error message - media pilot is missing.  I opened the box uninstall the RAM, videocard unplugged and both drives and reinstall, but without success.  I noticed that there is an orange/orange light on the motherboard.  I thought it was the hard drive at the beginning, but now I hope that this is not the motherboard.  Any help will be appreciated.

You have damaged the image beyond repair.  You need to reinstall from scratch.  Windows to say that an optical drive driver is missing, bad copy of DVD-RW, DVD + R or DVD - R media that was not burned at 1 X 2 X or 4 X, so is not readable.  This is why USB Flash Drive 16 GB or more is recommended rather than the DVD player to the installation media.

Why doesn't my CD or DVD drive?

Troubleshoot installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1

A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing
A media computer driver needs is missing
error message when you install Windows

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/2755139

This problem occurs for the following reasons:

The installation DVD is removed during the installation process.
A bad quality DVD has been used to create the installation DVD.
The speed at which the installation DVD is burnt was too fast.
The DVD drive cannot read media.
    The ISO file is corrupted.

  • Dell XPS-8900 does not start

Worked well to date, 01/01/2016 - Happy New Year, NO!

Change power cable, use a different outlet (other items such as router and network printer can very well). Computer still does not start.

When I plug it in the computer power light turns on light and then turns off (this seemed normal before). So if I push the power button computer does not start.

I don't seem to get an orange light sequence of 2-1 after trying to turn it on - and continues. Maybe some sort of signal POST?

I can turn the computer (not my first choice) after our journey ahead. But I'd rather get it upward and now running. Have work to do.

    Phil

More information. I had four USB3 external drives attached, whose two propulsion and two disks Seagate Wireless - which is recharged through its USB port.

Removing only the second Seagate drive allows the machine starts. So the question can be too much of a drain on the USB card current.

Once started, the system seems to work very well with that wireless Seagate drive attached, and it restarts with it attached - just not boot from a condition of Shut Down.

Not sure really, I understand that, but I can live with that.

If someone seems something more insidious in this behavior, please notify; bought the XPS-8900 at COSTCO and still about 55 days return if it is defective!

  • My desktop Dell - Vista - computer does not, the monitor says no entry and have to wake up computer

I have a desktop Dell Vista computer.  A few days earlier, when I pressed the power button to turn it on, nothing happened.  When I turned on the monitor, he says that he came into power saving mode.  When I checked the monitor once again, he said that there is no entry for the computer and press any key of the keyboard or mouse to wake up.

The computer is plugged in and the green light in the back is on.  I don't remember putting the computer to sleep.  I thought I made a stop for a few days in advance.  Press and hold the power button on the computer does not start it or turn it off.  There is no sound (such as a fan).  I unplugged the computer briefly a few times, and then I finally unplugged overnight and is plugged in.  Light lights up in the back, but is not the "num lock" key on the keyboard and the light under the mouse does not light.

I checked a few suggestions on this site, but they all require that the computer be on and you enter in this form or the screen.  Is the computer dead?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Windows 8.1 does not appear in the store Windows Dell XPS 8700

My desktop computer Dell XPS 8700 arrived yesterday, but I can't upgrade Windows 8 to 8.1 of Windows. I went to several Microsoft Web sites where they say on a Windows update and I have to have before the upgrade is displayed in the Microsoft store. I checked I did all Windows updates available including
you need to upgrade to 8.1. I tried "wsreset.exe" running to clear the cache of Windows store. This is not a business system. It's a regular OEM Dell version of Windows 8 that came with the machine. No matter what I do the update does not appear in the Windows store. I thought maybe since I was using the same Microsoft account for my laptop I already upgraded 8 to 8.1 that maybe he thought I was already updated. So I created a new account of Microsoft, created a new user, delete the old user and tried to get the upgrade as a Microsoft account fresh and a user. Still no luck. I saw another person posting a message on a forum somewhere that had a similar problem on this exact model as the only answer that I was to go to the Microsoft page that tells you to do what I've done. Any suggestions or websites where I could crosspost this problem would be much appreciated.

I copied and pasted the steps below from another thread. The procedure worked for me both my 8700 s after that I had tried just about every other proposed solutions. I hope that the procedure will work for you too (assuming that you have not already tried).

    (1) uninstall KB2871389 and restart.

    (2) download the update of Microsoft KB2871389--> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40098

    (3) manually install the KB2871389 update and reboot.

    (4) you must now (I hope) see the 8.1 update in the Windows store.

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g not install on Dell XPS 8700

It was to find work as a printer ethernet with my Dell Optiplex 790 on Windows 7 Pro, and Windows 8 Pro.

Have a new PC now... the Dell XPS 8700.

At first, I had problems adding network printers that I've never had before. Had to do with my installation of drivers GotomyPC and kernel, I suppose. Found a GP to disable doctor who was not allowing the kernel drivers must be loaded and sets.

Then I tried to install the printer C309g. The printer has detected and tried to install it and was stuck at 42% for about 1 to 2 hours. I restarted and then uninstalled... Uninstall becomes far and then stops now. Followed the instructions with my ESET security.

Then I tried again... it installed the driver but could not find the printer (which was the and connected)... tried to add a device a few times with no luck.

Uninstalled (abandoned again separated by the uninstall). Any suggestions on how I can get this printer working again?

    SOLVED

Don't know what thing took care of him, but I ran the HP uninstall for all-in-one and I uninstalled ESET and be on the safe side, even uninstalled gotomypc (which shouldn't matter). Then tried to install it again and it worked very well. I'm leaning towards a combination of ESET (Version 7) and the uninstall utility that probably did the trick. Since reinstalled ESET and gotomyPC and everything seems OK now. It can even help to unplug and plug in the printer (wall plug) since these printers sometimes have problems of power even when you have plugged into the wall outlet and the printer seems to be OK, but this isn't somehow.

  • Dell XPS 8700 no power

Have a Dell XPS 8700 I bought in October 2013.  The other day while my daughter was doing her homework the Tower just closed.  Will not supply this time.  The green light on the back of the power supply does not light.  The led "Power to the" yellow inside the East.

When I press the button reset, next to green light, at the back of the power supply, the light turns on fans in the case operate one puts the optical drive.  So, it is the power supply or the card mother kaput?  Or is there some waay to put things?  Tried the thing "press and hold the power button / stop for 25 sec ' without success, and also left it unplugged overnight.

Remove the battery on the motherboard CMOS. Leave, try it for a few seconds then put back in. Try to start the computer after. The green light on the power supply goes off while the computer is not turned on. As the light does not illuminate and things go when you press the test button, your diet should be fine. It could be your motherboard, before we know try resetting the CMOS battery, as I mentioned above. I hope this helps!

  • Dell XPS 8700 - A11 Bios - boot

I have a Dell XPS 8700. I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10. As recommended, I've also updated the bios to A11 (the latest version of the bios). I have a processor i7, 24 GB of RAM and an SSD as boot drive - so it should be a very fast machine.

The startup time for just the bios (i.e. excluding the windows 10) is 14 seconds - crazy for a long time. It takes more time for the bios to start it makes for the time it takes for 10 Windows to start. Note that the bios startup time is confirmed by opening the Task Manager and looking at the Startup tab.

My previous bios version was A03, who was still slow to start (8 seconds for the bios to start), but better than the A11. I see that some of the other bios versions after A03 were also slow to launch and I've deliberately downgraded these versions to A03 to improve startup performance.

How can this bios startup time to accelerate because it does not seem normal to take so long?

Note: I have external USB hard drives and I tried to disconnect these and it does impact not bios boot time.

When you say the startup time of 6-7 seconds, you're talking at that time:

    1. Press the button market at the moment, the BIOS is ready to load Windows, but excluding the loading of Windows. or
    2. to completely load Windows, but excluding the BIOS load game; or
    3. Press the button of power both on Windows is fully loaded (i.e. 1 + 2)?

For 1, I get about 13 seconds, I think, for 2, I get about 40 seconds, to be 53 seconds in total. On paper my PC should be very fast, so I guess that--and kind of hoping if my system is massively under fulfillment - your done 6-7 seconds simply reference to 1.

    Thank you.
