  I have installed ESXi5 and I deployed the vCenter via the OVF. This forum works without any problem. However, I would like to clone a templete for future creations of VM virtual machine. However, I get the message warning 'customization windows resources are found on the server. On Server 2008 R2 I would just download the sysprep files relevant to the specified locations, however using the OVF I can't find the right place to put the files.

  Please can someone advise the use of models and cloning in Version 5 of ESXi, when you use the vCenter via the OVF.

  You must download the sysprep on the vCenter device files, the path is/etc/vmware-vpx/sysprep.

• Tips for starting the deployment vCenter and vSphere

  Well, so here's my question, and maybe it's a long one.

  I intend to deploy vSphere/vCenter deployment soon, and I am currently considering a network isolated for management stuff.  My understanding is that to get there, you have ESXi hosts to configure a NETWORK card that is connected to a remote switch and then assign IPs on the same subnet for each machine.  So that's what I would do.  NICs will be connected to a separate switch for the vMotion and the virtual machines on the host computers.

  This leaves me in a quandry minor, however.  I would like to get vCenter configuration on a virtual computer.  And vCenter must be able to communicate with the domain for the domain controllers, right?  What I would do is vCenter configuration, configuration of the distributed vSwitches and hang them up to the network adapters that are connected to the internal network (and therefore the domain controllers) and make sure that everything works correctly.  Once it's over, I want to put in place a couple of VMs who will take over the functions of the DCs and from there, the majority of the servers on the network of virtualization.  Yahoo!

  So, here's the problem, I can say.  If I want the management network server ESXi to be isolated with their own IP addresses, how is the vCenter VM supposed to communicate with the inside network where are domain controllers, because I won't have any installation of vSwitches to other network adapters, because I need to vCenter to create these vSwitches, etc..  Chicken and eggs?  I'm sure that someone has addressed and solved this problem before.  Help?

  Yes, it is what we have done to the SC for the VI Center and each host.  We use a non routable subnet for our network of Vmotion.

• Location of the vCenter vCEnter Server Appliance 6.0.0 vs Linux plugin file

  We have a plugin where we were using vCenter 6.0 hosted on a Linux server.  I could get my plugin files in /var/lib/vmware/vsphere-client/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity and /import/storage.

  We then deployed a vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.0 our plugin and it has a different directory structure.  The structure of directory changes to /var/lib/vmware.

  Where can I find the folder of vsphere-client-serenity or its equivalent.

  Or plugins to treat device unlike a vCenter 6.0 linux host?

• 6 - DB Upgrade vCenter

  Hi all

  Intend to upgrade the vCenter 5.5 to 6.0 in a small development environment. Customer has a SQL 2012 separate server to contain the vCenter 6 DB. Here's what I did,

  1 backup and restored the 5.5 SQL 2008 express DB on the new SQL Server vCenter complete 2012. Backup and the restore was successful.

  2. has created the x 64 DSN by using the native client 11 and tested connectivity, that works perfectly.

  3. follow-up to the KB article: VMware KB: migrating the database from the SQL Express vCenter server to full SQL Server

  4 detached and attached the DB also.

  Now, when I install the new vCenter 6.0 and connecting to the DB SQL 2012 new throws below error, don't know what it's pointing to?

  5 has created an another VM Win2K12 R2 and tried installing vCenter 6.0 and point to the new DB, this is where the error comes like in the screenshot in the first post. System DSN is plug it in and test it properly.

  As suggested before me, you must first run the server vCenter Server, after that you have reconfigured the external database.

  What is happening right now:

  1. you run the installation program. It does not detect a vCenter Server on this virtual computer operation and it assumes you are doing a new installation.

  2. you point the DSN with 5.5 database and Setup lets you know that you cannot deploy a vCenter 6.0 with 5.5 database.

• Where to install Vcenter

  Hi all

  I was in charge of the implementation of a Dell VRTX (5u chassis consolidated with two blades, shared storage and internal switch servers). I installed two server ESXi blades, my question is where can I install vCenter and vSphere to get the operational environment?  Do I need another physical server for this?

  Install ESXi vSphere on blades servers, connect to the ESXi vSphere using the vSphere Client (installed on your office desktop) and create a virtual machine for vCenter Server (Windows version) or deploy the vCenter Server Appliance.

  After install or deploy the vCenter, add the two ESXi vSphere vCenter... and depending on your edition of vSphere, create the cluster and configure HA/DRS.

  Since you have a small environment, you don't need an additional physical server just to use as the server vCenter.

  My brother, fazer o um escopo clone or por exemplo um deploy um model e no mesmo vCenter, or seja, por vias normais, voce nao do clonar OU fazer deploy model vCenter para um um o outro.

  Very, sempre exists uma saida, e no seu caso, você pode fazer o seguinte:

  1 cloned an atual VM (as pode ser feito com an origem watch VM);

  2 copy os archives da VM clonada para o outro datastore vCenter;

  3. no data store don't do novo vCenter, service one pasta da VM e clicar com direito button no land e .vmx selecionar didn't add to the inventory.

  You said go to vCenter device then I guess that your hosts will be disconnected from the existing and connected to the newly deployed unit vCenter vCenter.

  Even with the host that hosts POS device.

  So once make sure you that POS device exist within the appliance (new) vCenter, so you can always goto VDP set up page and change the record for the new device of vCenter.

• Cannot ping my VM vCenter

  I deployed my vCenter for my ESXi machine via an OVF file.  When a vCenter boots he says no networking was detected because I do not use a DHCP server, then I put the IP and the static subnet. Since I can not ping from the host (windows 7), I can't access the web console Help http://< IP >: 5480 to continue with Setup. I didn't need virtual machines to have access to the internet.  All of my virtual machines are on a 12. network.  vCenter can only ping the ESXi server, but no one else. 

  Finally figured it out! VCenter unit had a random MAC address are entrusted to him, and once I changed it to be the same vmnic0, I could ping and connect to the web page of the console.

  We have an Active Directory domain that is based on Server 2008 R2. I have successfully deployed a vCenter Server Appliance and joined the field with it. I also added both direct and reverse search in the DNS records and I can see all users and groups when I manage my permissions in vCenter. Connecting to vCenter using a domain account also works very well if you type the user name and password.

  The problem starts when I try to check the box 'Use Windows logon credentials'. If I click on connect, I get an error of IDM. The exact error in the log file /var/log/vmware/sso/vmware-sts-idmd.log is the following:

  I have setup a test environment with a single domain controller and a customer-vcsa. There, it works fine. So it is something in our existing domain. But I can't know exactly what it could be. I tried to disable any air security, firewalls, etc. It seems to me he's trying to auth as some sspi account. To the best of my knowledge this account does not exist, then it must fail. In my test environment wiith default for most of the configurations I see no trace of 'sspi' in the newspapers.

  Any ideas on how to do this diagnosis?

  I found the culprit.

  It seems vCenter NTLM need to work. Two strategies of local security caused errors occur. When network security: restrict NTLM: NTLM outbound traffic to remote servers and network security: restrict NTLM: NTLM authentication in this area inside local policies > Security Options are both defined to deny everything we see this error.

  I hope this can help someone else. It took some time to solve the problems. :)

• vCenter database / deal

  We run 5.5 on a separate 2012 Windows SQL Server vCenter.  Now we have to deploy another vCenter to change our environment.

  My question is can I use the existing SQL Server and create a separate database for vCenter new?  Is it possible to have a connection to the same SQL Server vCenters but separate databases?

  In addition, now we are about to have the 4 vCenters... two primary and two secondary DC.  They are not in bound mode nor we have the in bound mode.  So how can I browse all my VM from one place? instead of going through 4 vCenters?

• vCenter 5.5 evaluation licenses expire before the 60 day period Eval

  I recently downloaded the vSphere, ESXi 5.5 ISO assessment the Client vSphere and vCenter Server .exe file 5.5.0b and ISO modules.  I was able to install ESXi on my HP Proliant DL360 G5 server in my lab at home without any problems.  I was also able to install vSphere Client.exe on my computer of client without any problems. Via vSphere Client, I was able to connect to my ESXi host and create VMs towing without problem. At this point, I am able to access the host and two virtual machines by using the client vSphere with no problems.

  I then install the vCenter Server on a virtual machine, I then use the vSphere Web Client to connect to vCenter without any problem.  I then create a data center with the Web Client without any problems.

  My problems begin when I try to add the host and two virtual machines I get a message saying that the licenses are expired and so I can't add my host to vCenter.  I don't understand why vCenter isn't allowing me to add the host because of the license, because I thought that evaluation licenses are good for 60 days. I just installed the vCenter server today and should have at least 50 more a few days before its expiration date.

  I go through the process of adding a new host, I can see where the discoverers of customer Web host, but it is not added to the Web Client of stocks due to the problem of the license has expired.

  Anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem.  Thank you very much.

• vCenter Appliance Web Configuration of Client SSO error

  Currently have a vSphere 4.1 with two hosts ESXi environment.  vCenter is on a VM dediated on a single host.

  I'm moving to 5.1 and have chosen to deploy the unit vCenter instead of upgrading my VM.  A through the deployment and installation of the device through the web GUI.  Everything seemed to have configured correctly (DB, SSO, AD auth, etc.).  This is where it gets weird.

  I can access the vCenter via web client uses Windows authentication.  By using the same user credentials in the local client on my computer, it says I don't have permission.  In the web client, when I go to Administration-> Sign-On and discovery-> Configuration, I get an error on any tab, I selected:

  I'm about to give up and just upgrade my current vCenter, but I like the idea of the dedicated device.  I can't find any documentation on this error, or what I'm doing wrong.  It is very difficult to find documentation on the device.

  Well, I can't tell you how to solve this problem, but maybe Kendrick Coleman 5.1 vSphere vCenter Virtual Appliance and vSphere Client video tutorial Web series will help you to successfully deploy the vCenter Server Appliance. At least she helped me to solve some problems I had with the first installations.

• vCenter Server Evaluation license questions

  Hello

  I just downloaded and installed vCenter Server assessment. When I log on to the server vCenter via vSphere client and you try to add the host and the vm I get the message that my evaluation license has expired, but according to vMware he does not expire until December 2011.

  I checked the host for the configuration of the date and time, and that's okay.

  If it helps, I host esxi5 installed on a server and have created two esxi5 vm as well as three windows vm operating system.

  The host usually has a Date in the past after installation. If you had a wrong date on the host to the (first) initial priming the vCenter device start-up of the device with the wrong date "BIOS" of the host. after correction of the Date do not help the license number of the trial of fixation.

  Conclusion: delete the vCenter device, check the Date and time of the ESXi host setting and deploy the vCenter device again. If now the device starts the first time the 60-day trial works as expected.
