Desconectado del VCenter ESX host y no will can volver a connect

Hola

Tengo an ESX than estaba tan tranquilo, running sin problemas y of repent al registarle una VM in el inventario...-> disconnected pufff.

Las maquians not be han visto afectadas, y los users follow trabajando.

Tengo acceso por PuTTY y por VIC directo al ESX, pero no puedo anadirlo (connect o anadirlo) al VCenter: "unable to communicate with the host specified. Maybe it's because the host is not available on the network, there is a problem with the network configuration or management on the host services do not react"

He intentado:

REINICIAR el vmware go: restarting the service mgmt-vmware-> nada

REINICIAR el vpxa: restarting the service vmware-vpxa-> nada

He even eliminado officer el para lo nuevo instalara-> nada

Los connects without any error desagradavel muestran.

Tengo espacio in las particiones

No hay any core dump reciente.

Alguien tiene alguna idea of as mirar mas? No quiero tener as plan una parada 20 maquinas para reiniciar el ESX

A¿te el acceso al host directly desde el VIC works? ES decir, al access ESX, utilizando el VIC y usuario/contrasena root.

The case of ese, that agregado al inventario a VM exist? In ese caso, brought desregistrarla y desde el VIC apuntando el contra VirtualCenter, brought reconectar el host...

Saludos.

  • Disconnection of the VCenter ESX host

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.  I have an installation of VMWare VCenter and 4.1 ESX servers.  Periodically, one of my ESX hosts will lose just login to the VCenter server and I need to re-add.  The host still pings, does not actually lose network connectivity or I receive an alert.  I've been searching newspapers with no luck yet.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Mobile to a new server vCenter ESX host

    Hello.

For several reasons (including the old server vCenter 2003 x 86) I would like to move our ESX host to a new server vCenter (version 4.1 under Windows 2008 R2). Our ESX environment using HA/DRS and resource pools.

Is it possible to move the hosts to the new server without VM downtime?

I think disabling HA/DRS and then disconnect the old vCenter servers, then adding them to the new. That would be possible, or is there a better way?

And second, that things are lost that kind of operation? Data of performance and resources with Betclic, another?

    / Christian

    Hey there,

    The procedure is very simple:

    -Disable HA host monitoring

    -Disconnect the old vCenter host

    -Remove old vCenter host

-Add the host to the new vCenter Server

-You will be weather you are prompted to add all of the resources of the host with Betclic under a live of... the list resources or put all your VMS in pool root of the pole. Select them grafted in... so you can keep your resource pools. You can move the autour pools in the hierarchy on the new vCenter.

-After you have moved all of your hosts, you can activate HA host followed once again and check that the DRS has the settings you want.

You lose well obviously all performance data, but you can bring your pools of resources for the new vCenter.

  • The best way to solve this problem (internal vCenter, ESX host external)

The issue is that we have our virtual Center and our production ESX hosts on our internal network. We have another site of emergency in a remote network, but welcomed a public address with a firewall in front of her.  When I add the host of my vCenter she adds in fact very well and works for 1 minute, then disconnects. This is because the heartbeat may not respond to the virtual Center.  The emergency server will be 3 VMS host, 1 e-mail box, 1 website and 1 backup domain controller.  I only know the basics of networking, so I don't know what would be the best idea of tests.

I will apply to network engineers after that I know that would work well.

I should create a nat device for the server vCenter and which will resolve the heart beat question

I should have a set up reverse proxy, then change the esx host and change the internal address of the vCenter to the public address with proxy reverse?

Should I make the address pool which esx host has (about 10 external and public addresses) available to route between our internal VLAN?

Y at - it a sugguestion different with a better description would you recommend to solve this problem and better my future goals with the 3 virtual machines, that I intend to host on this server.

    Any advice is welcome.

    Thank you

Is it possible to Site 2 Site VPN? If Yes, then it would be much less complicated. Put ESX in DMZ with public IPs is not a good idea in terms of security.

  • Update 4.0 to esx 4.1.0 348481 can no longer connect in SSH

    Hello:

I've recently updated 4 host esx 4.1.0.  I called them VM1, VM3 and VM5 VM7. I also installed a new physical server Vcenter. For one of the hosts, (VM1), I decided to do a fresh install using the CD. I am doing this for my own personal reason so I'm forced to redo a machine from scratch due to rehabilitation.

For my 3 other hosts (VM3, VM5, VM7), I used the Update Manager tool, followed by documentation and some UTube tutorials. This seemed to work well. I had all the computers in a cluster, and they all worked without any problems.

What I'm trying to do now is to install a component of Dell. Following the instructions for it, I ran into an issue with SSH. I can no longer connect SSH using PuTTY with the two previous accounts that I had before the upgrade.

When you perform a new installation, I always create a 2nd account called vmadmin. I'm doing this on the same screen, he asks the password to root for the installation CD. Once I have installed host I use an article of Vmware to access SSH root (8375637 KB)

Interstingly enough VM1 (installation of one I did costs since) allows me to connect in SSH using VMadmin... and roots. But the three hosts I upgraded using the Update Manager is no longer connect in SSH allows you to use one of the two accounts.

Using Vcenter I can connect to the host directly using roots but is no longer it will allow the account vmadmin connect (permission denied).

When I connect to the host using Vcenter, I see the vmadmin account. I tried to look at the properties on both my work (VM1) host computer and a work not to compare... but everything looks the same.

Can anyone help with what do I do to fix this? and or add a question if I can respond to the need for additional information?

    Thank you

    R

I guess that you don't have a DRAC card in your server... otherwise, it is simple to access the console and resolve the problem.

Have you try to connect to each host and add a new user?

  • limit in el vcenter esx host

    Hola

I have understood that in el of hyper-v in SCVMM-System Center virtual machine microsoft Manager su (similar a virtual centre), admite UN maximo 400 of the hyper-v host y 8000 maquinas office.

    grabaciones vmware cuanto are?

Y por otra parte... ¿a what debe esa limitacion host?, bueno, so son 400 también en vmware... aunque como are suficiente.

In the case of that vmware had una limitacion Mayor en el esx in el host cluster number... (he heard 20), seria a problema para vdi, ch. uando hay gente as necesitaria muchos host (example suppliers of services, telefonica...), in the case of the ultima version of vcenter, podemos 'linkar"varios vcenter y gestionarlos eso esta, pero hay if a cada vcenter tendriamos that tener varios vcenter do not limit?

    Gracias

Hola Akumal. Yes, you can add a cluster al vCenter mas. En mi caso tengo mas 6.

Por otra parte tool virtual Mirosoft can administrar tambien ESX, por maquinas SCVMM Center system if you want to have in a single console, toda infrastructure virtual centralizada (Hyper-V is VMWare).

  • Determine which user added an ESX host to vCenter

I'm trying to figure out if there is anyway to determine which user has added a vCenter ESX host using the api.  I don't see this information as any sort of property of the host object.  Any help would be appreciated!

    Paul

You can retrieve this and other events by using the event manager and the queryEvents() - http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.wssdk.apiref.doc_50%2Fvim.event.EventManager.html

There is no property associated with a host ESX (i) on which the user added to vCenter and since it seems that you are interested in a specific host ESX (i), which can help narrow down the query.

Attached, that is, remove / add a vSphere SDK for Perl script that will return the user who added the host to vCenter, you should get a response because it uses the Ref object managed the host ESX (i) and that changes each time you have.

Here is an example of course:

    ./findUserAddHost.pl--serveur root vcenter50-4 - vihost - vesxi50 - 3.primp username - industries.com
    Enter the password:
    added root host vesxi50 - 3.primp - industries.com to datacenter datacenter2

  • Is it possible to add an ESX host less CPU

    Hello

Currently in my farm, I have four Dell R900 ESX host. They have (4) Quad Core Procs and 128 GB of memory. Can I add an additional R900 server that does that (2) Quad Core Procs? I will strengthen the memory based on the existing, but processors are simply too expensive. HA and DRS will manage the differences in the number of procs?

It is a statement of official support for the use of the CPUID of the forest SSSE3 mask.  Setting this bit can hide the SSSE3 instructions, allowing you to vmotion vm from a server on the 'A' list to a list of 'B', but is not supported by VMware.  While masking is generally safe, the process only "occult" bits for applications that use the CPUID instruction to generate a list of features that a processor is capable of.  If an application does not CPUID use to verify functionality and use them in any case, then you have a problem, that's why this mask is not supported.  Hope that makes sense.

I need to apply the following patch, but at the bottom of the KB, I get

To apply patches to ESXi host is via the VMware Update Manager. For more information, see installation and administration of VMware vSphere Update Manager.

What is the typical whatsoever?  is this one?

  • Migration 4 and 3.5 ESX hosts again vCenter Server 4.0

I'll put up a new vCenter Server 4.0 with an Oracle database to take the place of two vCenter using express databases included. They are both on the hosts recommended 5-50 VM for the Express database, oops.

The first is vCenter 4.0 which uses the express database included is on a Dell 1950 server. ESX 4.0 hosts are on 2 groups on Dell blade servers that have 5 blades per cluster and are using storage arrays EqualLogic iSCSI for data warehouses. More there are a few individual Dell R900 and Dell R710 servers use local storage connected to the vCenter.

The second is vCenter 2.5 that uses the express database included running on a Dell 2950 server with, like 20 other Dell running ESX 3.5 of 2950 using local storage.

Looking for a vision a little and advise the host migration to the new server vCenter Server.

    Thank you... Jim Hurley

I would say the easiest would be to create new vCenter new host OS (I would choose 64 bits that will put you in the conditions required for 4.1).  Once the new vCenter Server online, I then install a standalone license server for your VI3 hosts, then begin to disconnect and remove other environments and new hosts.

Stand alone license server can be found

  • A server Vcenter 4.1.0 coexist with 5.1.1 ESX hosts

    Hello

I was planning on upgrading my VMware environment, but I just noticed that my vcenter server running 4.1.0 is enough CPU to run 5.1.

Is it still possible to upgrade my hosts to 5.1.1 so that I can use the latest etc. operating systems or this will cause my unstable environment.

    any advice is greatly appericated.

    Thank you

vCenter 4.1 can not handle 5.1 ESX hosts.

First vCenter Server must be upgraded to 5.1 and then upgrade hosts to 5.1. So that vCenter can manage the hosts in full transparency.

  • VCenter and host ESX upgrade details

    Hello

When I run vmware - v on my esx host. I see the output as VMware ESX 4.0.0 build-208167 and my vcenter Server 4.0.0 208111 watch and I want to VC\ESX 4.0 Update 2. When I check the upgrades for ESX 4.0.0 build-208167, shows me the build under ESXi (Embedded and installable) and not under ESX. A little confused but is that correct? The latest version is also "Build number: 660575. Can I directly go here? What is the process?

    Please notify

    1. so my hosts are now on the ESX update and version number, by following your steps would take them to ESXi last updated and build number which is simply the next last update of level and the patch level. What is the correct interpretation? We call this an update or upgrade?

    > the steps I mentioned will bring the level of the last update, IE ESX 4.0 to ESX 4.0 host update4... Do NOT ESXi.

    2. What is the right approach to find the last bet to day and the patch level, given my example so that I don't have to bother you guys again in the future.

    > Keep track of VMware patch portal http://www.vmware.com/patchmgr/download.portal

Select the product ESX and version 4.0.0 and do a Search. It will list on the latest patches and updates released. You can check with the dates or numbers of patch.

    3. According to the steps you provided, do I just download the Update Pack and patch at one of the warehouses of data that is submitted to these hosts and then run the command of esxupdate course after first having the server in maintenance mode?

    > Yes

    4. is there a separate procedure for updating the vCenter Server also?

    > For vCenter, you need to download setup vCetner for 4.0 update 4 and run the installer.

Please go through vSphere 4.0 Upgrade guide for details.

  • DELL PE R710 missing sensors on the tab 'Hardware status' vCenter ESX after latest patch update!

Last month, I update all my ESX host with the latest patches for ESX from 28/04/2011 (ESX410-201104001) via the vCenter Update Manager, earlier this month, accidentally, I have some verification to be done in the server room and noticed a hard drive failure on one of my DELL R710 Rack servers, I you connected the VirtualCenter client and when I click on the tab 'Hardware status' (where the alarms about the) Configuration hardware server usually appear), I noticed that my storage sensors are missing, the network sensors as well! ?? I recall that on March I did have another server hard disk failure, but I saw an alarm (for predictive failure) on my vCenter and I call Dell to replace the drive back!

I also noticed that now the number of my server sensors are between 73 and 88, before I remember although there were a couple hudred of them! ??

After some research on the net, I did I frimware/BIOS upgrade of all hardware on the servers, as I install OMSA 6.5 and Dell management plug-in to vCenter and all seems to work just fine, but storage sensors and count sensor under the tab 'Hardware status' issue was not resolved. I think there is a problem with vcenter, because when I connect directly to the host through the vsphere client, in the "State of health" tab all the material appears correctly. I found subjects with similar problems, but they have been with HP servers and not answered or solved!

Is there anyone with similar problem or no answer to my question?

    Thanks to all in advance!

    godjak

PSIF there need I can post some screenshots!

Confirmed.  Without patch ESX410-201104401-SG, my other R710 has a full complement of sensors.

  • Update vCenter 4.1 4.1 Update 1 lost ESX host

    Hi guys,.

As planned to upgrade all the ESX to ESXi 4.1 Update 1, I started with Vcenter first. Everthing went smooth but it looks like that it lost access to the old DB?

What is there to do now?

    Thank you

of your screenshot and the size of the VIM_VCDB, it seems you used the existing DB, but has decided to crush him, so start an instance empty vCenter.

How the host ESX (i)?  Not the end of the world, even if you do not have a backup.  You can always recreate your infrastructure once again and then 'add host' inventory.  You will lose all historical data, but hosts and guests will not have been affected by the erasure of the DB

You use the bundled SQL Express, correct?
