Desktop folder

I created a folder on the desktop from the desktop. Now I can't delete it. How can I get rid of this folder? (I delete 30 times a day and he comes back)

If the items that you delete comes back, then they are very probably virus or bug. You must scan your computer with the latest antivirus update.

To see the 10 best antivirus, go here -http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
Download the best antivirus and run a scan of your pc after updating your antivirus.
If it is not a virus, then try the following steps to remove it-
This error indicates that an application is using this file at this point here. If you are unable to remove it, restart your computer and then try to delete it.

IF YOU ARE NOT SUCCESSFUL WITH THE above METHOD, THEN TRY to USE UNLOCKER, a free application that disables the application using the file that you want to delete.
Download unlocker from here-http://www.filehippo.com/download_unlocker/
Click on the above link and click on download the newer version on the right side of the screen.
Download UNLOCKER from the link given above and install it. (you may need to restart the computer)
Right-click on the file you want to delete, and then click unlocker.
A new window opens showing all applications using this file.
Select all files, and then click on unblock.
Now right-click on the file you want to delete, and then click on remove.
YOUR FILE WILL BE DELETED SUCCESSFULLY.
If you are still unable to delete that file and unlocker shows no application, then follow these steps-
Right-click on the file you want to delete and click unlocker.
A small window will appear.
In the drop-down list, choose delete, and then click ok.
Your file will be deleted on the next reboot of the system.

  • Firefox creates "desktop" folder on the desktop whenever I have download

So I just installed Firefox on my new laptop, and whenever I download something, Firefox creates a "Desktop" folder on the desktop and download of the sticks in there. I used to be able to download directly on the desktop, but with this version, I can't. I tried tools > Options > save files to, but whenever I have click on the Browse button and select the location of my desired download (office under the "Favorites" section), Firefox ignores and sets the path as C:\Users\User1\Desktop\Desktop. Is it possible to fix this? It is extremely irritating.

See if it works for you as it does for me.

    1. Create a new folder on the desktop labeled downloads (or any other name),
    2. Open tools > Options-> general
    3. Downloads, click on the Browse button and select the new downloads folder that you just created.

Firefox wants a "folder name" for downloads, by specifying the 'bureau' only or won't 'Favorites '. When you try to force the issue, the name of the folder will mimic what the user is trying to specify. In your case, it created the folder "Desktop" on the desktop. Yes, it's different from previous versions of Firefox, but this change took place ago - many versions so it is not really 'new' any longer.

Note If you do not have the original CD of Windows XP Home Edition of Windows XP was preinstalled on your computer, contact the computer manufacturer or visit the Web site of the manufacturer for more information. You can also use the backup software that you purchase separately.

To install backup from the Windows XP CD:

    2. Click exit.
    3. Locate the: \ValueAdd\Msft\Ntbackup folder on the CD.

This option is useful if you ever want to restore a backup from a specific day. Be aware that the size of the backup file will increase with each new backup. You can monitor the file size to make sure that it does not fill your hard drive over time. If the file becomes too large, you should consider saving the file on an external hard drive. Or, if you are concerned about the file using too much hard disk space, select replace the data on the media with this backup instead.
      • If you want to replace the files of previous backup with this backup file, click replace the data on the media with this backup. This option is useful if you want to keep the current backup and do not care to keep the previous backups. Or, use this option if you are concerned about the file using too much disk space on your computer.

    Hi Gregory Trinidade,

You can try to create a folder in the C: drive and copy the images on the desktop folder C: drive.  After copy in C: drive then try again copy on external hard drive and see if it works well or not.

Make sure that you have access to the C: drive. Also instead of cut photos copy in another location.

  • Reset the default settings of the desktop folder

I wanted to change the location of my personal (user) of the C: drive to another. By mistake, I gave the location of the desktop as D:\ folder. The result was not to my liking (instead of the desktop folder, I saw the folder on the drive (same icon and the bar blue % used).) I tried to change the settings in the registry, which was advised by another site. They told me to make the following changes:

    "

To do this, go to start > run, type "regedit" and get the keys listed below. You can create a string value extensible "Desktop" in the "User Shell Folders" key, if this value does not exist.

Now, double-click the name of the "Desktop" under "Shell Folders" and "User Shell Folders" respectively, to set a new path in their fields in the value data for your 'Office' folder

    Registry entries:

    • 1 registry entry:
      [HKEY_CURRENT_USER dossiers\]
      Key type: the current user
      Value name: Desktop
      Data type: REG_SZ (String Value)
      Value Enabled:
      Disabled value:
Another value: set the new path to the desktop folder.
    • 2 registry entry:
      [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\]
      Key type: the current user
      Value name: Desktop
Data type: REG_EXPAND_SZ (expandable string value)
      Value Enabled:
      Disabled value:
Another value: set the new path to the desktop folder.

    "

I did, and she is back to normal. However, the desktop in the user directory folder is hidden , even if I put the path by default (the check box for the hidden option is grayed out). Also, the default icon for the Office changed default folder icon.

I want the desktop folder as it is. How can I do this?

Note: This was done in the administrator account.

I solved the problem of "hidden folder" by changing the attributes of the desktop folder. He was set to RHSD, I changed it to RD, remove hidden and system attributes, by using the command "attrib".

However, there is NO "desktop.ini" file in the desktop folder, or it is hidden so that I can't see it in the 7-Zip file manager. Does that create a problem? How can I do this? As far as I know, is that it is [.] ShellClassInfo] wrote the top of the page and there are two other elements, namely LocalizedResourceName and IconResource. What should I write in these two?

    Do help.

  • Windows 7 - files in the Desktop folder do not appear on real office

I had Windows 7 installed a few months, have not had a single problem with it until the last round of updates. After the reboot, everything on my desk has disappeared, including trash. However, if I go to my home, all my files, links directory, folders and trash are always there. If I copy or drag something on the desktop, it immediately disappears, but again it is in my Desktop folder.

I tried everything I can think and found fixes for similar problems in Vista, but they do not work with Windows 7.

Maybe try right-click on desktop, display and uncheck the box next to show the desktop icons; then repeat and re-check the box. I had that happen before and it worked for me...

    Hi Ellen

He is a longshot, but try the following and be careful when you edit the registry.

Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following key.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

In the right window, look at the Shell value.

This value should show Explorer.exe and nothuing else.

If it shows than anything else, right-click the Shell value and select modify.

Delete everything in the value data area except  Explorer.exe.

    Click OK.

If you have made any changes, restart and test the results.

NOTE: Make sure that you do not delete the Explorer.exe in the value of the hull, since it is responsible for displaying the interface of windows when you start the computer.

If it does not, when you start the computer and the desktop folder pops up, look at the path in the address bar to this folder. Click on an empty spot in the address bar and copy / paste this path into an answer here.

  • Why my "library" of Windows 7 have a version of different file than my desktop folder?

I just got a new computer with windows 7.  Yet to get used to 'libraries' and encounter something special.  I thought that a 'library' simply compiled similar files in one place.  However, this is what happens...  I have a "record" titled "marketing files.  In this folder is a Word file.  When I transferred my old windows XP files in my new computer with windows 7, these old files in my library of documents showed.  Pretty easy.  However, I've since updated this Word file in particular.  The desktop 'marketing files' folder and now have the new file, but my 'library' is still ad the old file.

I can't ignore the 'library' files work locally on my desk.  However, many times I need to download files over the internet, like through Hotmail to send a file to someone.  When trying to download files, Windows ONLY allows me to look in a library folder.  Interestingly, 'office' is a location option "upload of ' as the 'library', but even when I click on"office"he still that shows me the files in my library, not my location on the desktop.  I have a 'marketing files' folder shortcut on my desktop which has all of my correct files, I see what I want, when I click on the shortcut on the desktop, but they are not accessible when you try to download via an internet service.  So the only way to download the latest version of a file is to download it from my 'recent documents' location.

Even confusing, I downloaded some graphics of the internet in my folder "files of marketing."  These graphs are now sitting in my "marketing files" file library, but not my desktop folder "files of marketing."

The library doesn't seem to be sharing with office files, and so I'm stuck having to constantly look for two different places to see who has the most recent file.  And when downloading files via a web service, make sure that the file is in my 'recent documents' folder, otherwise it cannot be accessed.

Is it possible to disable "libraries", I was perfectly satisfied with the way that XP has me allowed to store files and make for easy retrieval, 1 step.  Libraries, just confuses everything.

    Thank you for your help,

    David

The Desktop\Marketing Files folder is going to be a different location for the Libraries\Documents\Marketing file.

It can be a bit confusing because of the mixture of hard and soft links. Also pay attention to how you access the folders in the library, they can be moved. By default, they would be C:\Users\username , but the safest is to view a list of profile folder.

Click the Start button, click the username at the top right. This opens a window with all the profile folders in a single view. If you right-click on the Documents folder and display them properties on the general tab displays the physical location. However, you will also see a location tab that allows you to move the folder you want. The advantage of using this way to display the folder is even if you then move that file to another drive for example profile view will list always the folder where C:\Users\username will not.

A library folder may also contain files from other parts of the car. Click the library icon then right click the Documents icon and you can add the directory Desktop\Marketing files to the document library.

  • Creative Cloud Desktop folder right click on the missing file Options

    Hello

My creative Cloud DESKTOP folder does not properly since last week.  I've already lost nearly 3 hours with tech support. Share my screen and try different things.   I think that the Tech Guy was incompetent. He didn't get that question and just kept trying the same things again and again for 3 hours.

MY FILES SYNCHRONIZE PROPERLY. THERES NO PROBLEM WITH THE SYNC.  If I drag files into the creative cloud desktop folder. They synchronize correctly in the cloud.   I can access it online without problems.

The question that I'm going to do with the actual file.  It does not appear to be installed / working properly.   Here is a picture of the help of the Adobe site.  (Creative cloud help |) Collaborate on files and libraries)

    collaborate-folder.png

    1. notice how at the bottom left of each file / folder inside the creative cloud files folder theres a GREEN check MARK (this changes depending on the status of the file).
    2. note also when the file's right-click theres only a 'CREATIVE CLOUD"drop-down Menu with Options for display on the Web site, work together.  Sendlink etc...

Until last week, My Creative cloud file was EXACTLY the SAME! works perfectly well.   I think that since the new update CC that he stopped doing this.

Here is a screenshot of MY Creative Cloud Files folder

    mine.jpg

1 Note how I don't have these icons of green check mark at the bottom left of each file/folder indicating the status of the folder/files.  (YES THE FILES ARE SYNCHRONIZED ILS SHOWS upward on THE site WEB SERVER even if I do not see the controls on the files...)

    2. you can not see in the screenshot, but if I right click on a file/folder I DO NOT have the CLOUD CREATIVE drop-down list, giving me the possibility to send a link, view site etc...

As I said I've already spent nearly three hours with an incompetent tech guy. He just kept removing .db files, delete the coresync folder, make me Logout / I leave CC etc... for 3 hours.    After two hours, he said he had no problem and had to reexplain him the question...   A bit frustrating really.      Yes, I restarted computer several times. This does not solve the problem.

    I'm on a Pc with Windows 8.1.
Run the latest version of creative cloud.
    my number is 0186758070

I hope that this problem can be solved.  It was very convenient for me to click right files and send the link directly. rather than go on the website cloud server and share the link!

    Thank you

    Hi Sgtfrog83:

Thank you very much for letting us know that your issue has been resolved after reinstalls creative cloud.  The problem is caused by Windows Explorer integration, and there are at least three applications to sync with similar integration methods and that can cause install conflicts.

    Best regards.

  • PC Backup in the iMac desktop folder

Hi all.  I need help any iMac user who also have a Win10 PC, who has resolved to support problem until Win10 a folder on the desktop iMac computer. Yes maybe that's a problem of Win10 sending data, but I'm looking for help in case it comes to Mac data reception problem.

On my laptop 2 Yoga Pro running Windows 10 Pro, I connected successfully to the network location \\IMAC27\Desktop\BackupYoga.  (For some reason, Win10 backup labels itself as Windows 7 but I don't think this is related).

The backup seems to start normally and runs for maybe 10 to 15 minutes without the slightest trace of error and with the progress shown on the progress bar. However he ends up by doesn't end, and I don't know why.  See two screenshots.  Some advice from someone who has solved this problem?  Thank you.

I guess that's via SMB on the network, that's going to choke when it encounters a file more than 4 GB.

  • When I finally got to work at all, there is no help button on the update of firefox. How can I get my settings in the desktop folder "old data firefox /.

I can't find a help button when I click on the 3 lines. When Firefox put updated this morning, it wouldn't go at all online. Now I have it again, and my data is saved on my desktop in a folder called old Firefox data. I do not know how to find 'profiles' and I don't know how to reload my data. I seem to have my correct taskbar. I don't have my full list of search engines. My Favorites seem to be there. My download record is not.

Happy to help you. Unfortunately, the help button is smaller than all the other icons, and there are no settings to enlarge.

Occasionally Flash has issues, but usually update it is the safest road, because they usually contain important security fixes and performance updates. One thing I should mention is that the download link almost always contains an optional offer for the McAfee toolbar - you don't need to install Flash if you do not want it, you will need to disable this check box in the middle of the page.

If you have a problem in Firefox because of Flash please create a new thread, we will be happy to help you.
