  • Upgrading from Windows Vista Home Premium at 8 - CPU does not support NX

    Hello

I have Vista Home Premium (very probably OEM as it came with the PC) on a PC and I bought the upgrade license to Windows 8 Pro.
I understand that it is in terms of the license transition, but here is my problem:
The CPU does not support NX (and for sure there is no setting in the BIOS for this).
    So I can't move to 8.
To replace the CPU, I need to replace the motherboard.
If I replace the motherboard my understanding is I'm losing the license because it OEM.
So, in reality, I can't switch to Win 8.
The license, I bought said that I can pass any system running XP, Vista, Win 7 to 8 Win.
It does not distinguish between older versions of Windows OEM and retail versions.
For me, it's a huge conflict.
    So the question is:
Can I change the CPU + motherboard to earn 8? or not?
    Thank you
It has been some time but I finally had the time to do the upgrade (hardware + software).
For history and for others who could come on this post with a similar question and be discouraged by responses like this:
I contacted the technical support of MS and they confirmed that I had a Windows 8 Pro upgrade license and after upgrading my license would Win 8 Pro full-detail (what you want to call it). Essentially, after upgrade, I can reinstall any other motherboard. Of course you can only use a license on a machine at one time.
(Of course your upgrade license type may be different to mine, so you should check they type of license)
In any case, what is more interesting, it of that I got the confirmation that I can do a clean install and activate my upgrade license. Not only that, but they recommended the installation of Vista should not be present when installing on 8 to win. I was very skeptical and I asked for an account of the cat to be on the right side. They assured me that the support had made several times and is not a problem.
And so, I do a clean install on the new motherboard (and a new player) and activated windows 8 with no problems at all.
It seems very stupid that you can change the motherboard after the upgrade, but could not make the move and the Windows update at the same time. Fortunately, it is not the case.
To me, it seems that the MS are aware that in you to go from XP (soon), they should also use the materials for the upgrade.

  • Error starting data recovery - "your CPU does not support long mode.

    Hello

When I turn on the VM data recovery, and after that he begins the boot process, it displays a message "your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32-bit distribution"

Data recovery is installed on an ESX 4.0 update1 then the ESX is installed on a VMware Workstation 6.5.2 as a virtual machine in my home test environment.

My processor is a 64 bit CPU (AMD Phenom 9950 Quad-Core).

I wonder if this message is because the ESX is running in a virtual machine on the workstation may be that it not only Duke that the processor is a 64-bit?

Someone at - he of the idea?

    Thank you

    Marcos

You can run the 64-bit if clients your ESX is a virtual machine. VMware Workstation does not pass through the VT extensions that are necessary for the performance of a 64-bit as VDR host.

    Hello

I try to create a guest RH EL Linux 4.6_64bit on a HP DL585G1 ESX3i server build 123629.

After the start of the guest, I get only the Message: "your CPU does not support long Mode. Use a 32-bit Distribution"

The fool is, when I boot the direkt ServerHardware with this installation of EL HR CD, the installer runs fine!

    So what is happening here?

    Any clue?

    Thank you

    Thomas

You may need to test if:

    (a) you run a review of 'good' (in terms of supported 64-bit comments) CPU (for example, several AMD chips have been officially ranked 'not kosher' VMware because of the inadequate support of segmentation) - see http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=1901 for more details.

    (b) AMD - V / Pacifica (VT if it is an Intel CPU) is not disabled in the BIOS of the computer.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6154nr: cpu does not work

Hi all! Recently, I cleaned my cooler fans that my laptop had a sound strong. When I reassembled all the pieces, I that I had discovered this comp. is not the scene. The screen is black and the capslock flashes once preiodically. I discovered that can be a CPU problem. I tried the 'dry power up' method, and it did not help. If someone in front of the same problem, please could you write your solution or maybe someone knows what to do? Thanks in advance.

    Ok.

If it worked before you took it apart, it means dismantling to see what you missed when assembling it.  You may need to have someone with more experience to take a peek. This usually means a shop or HP.

  • Get 10 Windows tells me now that my CPU is not supported

When Windows 10 jumped on our systems, I checked the check your PC, and everything was fine and dandy with her. No errors and my PC was ready to go.

So today, I looked again and noticed the following message is displayed:

I have a registered copy of Windows 7 Pro

    Service Pack 1

    64 bit OS

    CPU AMD Phenom II X 6 1035T 2.60 GHz

    8.00 GB OF RAM

All programs on my system are saved, and the only updates that have been done was the last Microsoft Update June 9.

Anyone has any suggestions on what may have caused Microsoft to "change his mind" with my system?

    Very strange to me.

    Tim

    André,

Thanks for the graphics display column as follows. It was very interesting to read, but unfortunately it didn't help me at all.

That's what I was doing, and I think that helped.

First of all, I disabled my system and has made a cold start and made a F9 to check my system. That I would for a PC-Check to see how my computer was running. The processor, memory and HD, all came up big.

Then I went to Windows and went to the resource and performance monitor to do a test.

He told me that old files were still stuck in my LogMeIn system that caused an error in the system.

    The error was:

    ROOT\LEGACY_LMIINFO\0000

and there are 3 files in loading device manager still whenever I booted up.

So I deleted the files, ran the resource and performance monitor from another test, and it was clear!

This was my result this time:

So I hope that, when to get Windows 10 checks my computer again, it will find a clean computer this time.

    Thanks for your previous assistance,

    Tim
