destination of the newspaper Archive of current location to new location

Hello

I want to change my destination of the newspaper archive of current location to new location. Can you please give me the steps to change the destination of the journal archive

No need to bounce the database.

SQL > alter system switch logfile;

and check the path to the new log archiving in this specific directory.

  • ACFS using as a destination of the newspaper archive?

    Perhaps a bit of a hair-brain idea, but...

    I have my diskgroup ACFS set up for my V1 and V2 systems. We do not use it for anything because we have a batch processing server connected to the IB fabric that we run everything (batch processing, etc.) of. No need to use ACFS to export files or external tables...

    On the V2, it is SYSTEMDG and it has a usable 288 GB total free space
    On the V1, this is DBFS_DG and it has a usable 858 GB total free space

    We have our archivelogs goes to the quick recovery area. Of course, we take great care using this diskgroup and we have various jobs/scripts that trigger if we reached a certain threshold of use and kick off a backup archivelog (with a deletion).

    If I wanted to configure Flashback Database, Flashback logs should go in the area of fast recovery, according to the documentation. "If I activate the Flashback Database, Flashback logs themselves will not erase until they are required to do, that could prove difficult for our script as the FRA will always be 100% complete"

    We could, I suppose, modify the script to calculate the size of the archivelogs only and use it as a trigger and, without a doubt, this is by far the easiest way, but I was wondering if anyone had use ACFS to accommodate the archivelogs.

    I think you can almost put "anything" in the ACFS exception 'of Oracle files that can be stored in ASM' - this means no doubt that archivelogs ACFS is unusable.

    Did anyone tried something like this? Looks like a great loss of a decent amount of space for me.

    Of course, as long as DBFS_DG the level of redundancy, you need (i.e. NORMAL).

  • backup and backup backupset input remove, remove THE newspaper archive?

    Hi all
    I'm kinda new to RMAN and I'm going through the book Oracle Press backup and restore.

    I'm a bit confused. I thought that when you run a database backup more archivelogs entry delete or backup backupset any input remove... it would have save can delete your directories of log_archive_dest_n archiving logs?

    For example, my settings are:

    db_recovery_file_dest/data5/oradata/flash_recovery_area
    Log_archive_dest_1 location = / oradata/innocuite6/testdb5
    location of LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_10 = USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST

    (log_archive_dest_(2-9) are not defined

    Now, when I did a backup with remove entry, I see a difference ini the table v$ flash_recovery_area_usage:

    Start:
    FILE_TYPE PERCENT_SPACE_USED PERCENT_SPACE_RECLAIMABLE NUMBER_OF_FILES
    -------------------- ------------------ ------------------------- ---------------
    CONTROL 0 FILE 0 0
    REDO LOG 0 0 0
    ARCHIVED JOURNAL 10.46 10.46 72
    BACKUP 25,84 PIECE 17,22 59
    COPY OF IMAGE 0 0 0
    JOURNAL OF THE FLASHBACK 0 0 0
    JOURNAL ARCHIVED FOREIGN 0 0 0

    Final:
    FILE_TYPE PERCENT_SPACE_USED PERCENT_SPACE_RECLAIMABLE NUMBER_OF_FILES
    -------------------- ------------------ ------------------------- ---------------
    CONTROL 0 FILE 0 0
    REDO LOG 0 0 0
    JOURNAL ARCHIVE.33.33 4
    BACKUP 25.42 PIECE 12.22 61
    COPY OF IMAGE 0 0 0
    JOURNAL OF THE FLASHBACK 0 0 0
    JOURNAL ARCHIVED FOREIGN 0 0 0

    However, when I watch/data6/oradata/testdb5

    All logs files .dbf files are there... nothing is deleted.

    If you have this model in place, with newspapers archive password area of flashback AND to another location... you have to write a script or manually go delete newspapers in the region to spare? If you give some tips on how to know what to delete? I thought, if... that RMAN would take care of the newspapers in all areas when you their saved and the flag 'remove entry '.

    Thanks in advance,

    Cayenne

    If you want to remove the archivelogs in destinations specified, you must issue "delete all entries. When the archivelogs backup RMAN, it backs up only one copy (of a destination) and "entry delete ' (not all) deletes only this copy, it does not touch the archivelogs in other destinations.
    You can remove the archivelogs explicitly (outside of a backup command) with "delete archivelog all; But you should not do this without a previous backup archivelog.

    I put "db_recovery_file_dest" and I can see the files of archive log go to the flash_recovery_area.
    But what I'm confused is, at the same time a second pair of Archive Log file goes to my $ORACLE_HOME/dbs location. I have not defined any log_archive_dest or more.

    Why do I have two sets of files to archive log (one will Flash_Recovery_area and the other $ORACLE_HOME/dbs)?

    Lily

    In 11.1.0.6 log_archive_dest_1 wrote in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/default, and log_archive_dest_10 wrote to default db_recovery_file_dest. You can watch v$ archive_dest to see where things are actually be written.

    You can change the FRA log_archive_dest_1:

    alter system set log_archive_dest_1='location=USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST' scope=both;

    I think that it is in fact a bug, but I don't have a practical number.

    following steps should be ok
    (1) create pfile from spfile;
    (2) remove the unnecessary params
    (3) configure log_archive_dest_1
    Note: do not remove the db_recovery_file_dest, db_recovery_file_dest_size, and parameters. they may be required at another time
    (4) stop and start your database using this new pfile
    (5) check if the archives are in one place
    (6) create spfile and bounce database to ensure that it uses spfile

    Please try all the steps test env first and go ahead in the event of success, to production

  • change the location of the log archive

    Hello

    DB is 9.2.0.7
    Operating system is HP - UX 11.23

    Log_archive_dest = archivelogs/backup /.

    This site is located on a single hard drive.

    When this disc goes down, database stops. Need to change the location to another drive online.

    I have a procedure to follow

    SQL > change the start of the archive log system of ' < nouvel_emplacement >;

    Once the disc problem is resolved.

    back from the old location.

    -----
    what you guys think... any other procedure

    Note: I'm just asking questions about my practical purpose. in practice, we will put the location of the newspaper archive in the mirrored partition or archive 2 destinations.

    oradba2,

    You're still using log_archive_dest. You are running Enterprise or Standard?
    When you run Enterprise, you must use log_archive_dest_1, log_archive_dest_2 etc.

    And you must archive log start!
    Just alter system set log_archive_dest (_) will do the trick.

    I did a search for .lrcat and all the catalogs were on drive G, as they are supposed to be.  However, there is an entry on the C drive that is marked as a MS Word file and it is called: Lightroom assessment.docx.  A paragraph seemed more likely guilty, but I don't know if I should change it and if so, what to change:

    No matter that one of your hard drives, the catalog is on. If this catalog is one that is active, then it is one which will contain references to imported pictures. When you use the add in the import dialog box images are added to the catalogue of their current location. You cannot specify a different destination when you use this option. When you use the copy option, then you are able to specify a destination in the right column of the import dialog box. You must choose the appropriate drive and the main folder in the folder tree that appears. Then, specify the name of the subfolder in the highlighted area:

    You talked about change the destination of the catalog. It was a poor choice of words or you don't understand how the catalog works. The catalogue is available in one place. Normally it does not move anywhere unless you choose to do it manually. You can control the destination of your imported images, and Lightroom will import to the destination on any hard drive. But they are managed using the catalogue that remains in one place.
