"Destroyed" vCenter Server - can it be removed from related modes?

Hi all

I have set up a small laboratory using esx 4.0 and vcenter 4.0 all them was working fine until today.

There are 2 servers vcenter linked mode. Today one of the servers (it was actually my office running as the second vcenter in the config of bound modes) "crashed" at a point that I'm not sure that it is worth trying to get windows back up again (bad registry file loading failure)

I would like to know how I can remove the second instance of vcenter configuration, so I get the nagging 1 vCenter server is not connected error message.

It would be even possible to reinstall windows, reinstall vcenter, assuming that the host names and intellectual property stay the same and the removal of bound mode later?

Thank you

DyJohnny

Hello

Sorry for your fatal system shutdown.

Well, I don't know if it is possible to reinstall

Windows, reinstall vCenter, hostname/IP condition remain the same.

and then remove VC related modes.

Bound mode, you have added the two systems to the same domain. So for now, you could try removes the VC domain and connect to the system running and the VC as the local administrator.

In addition, I don't know what options you would get if you'd called Installer VC once more on the virtual circuit running. It might give you an option to separate the the Victoria Cross VC crashed (not sure but maybe worth a try).

Thank you.

  • How can I be removed from the blacklist?

    Hi, I'm having problems because some of the people who have registered for my newsletter do not receive the emails I send.

    I created a Web site called abqlondon.com to an event. In two weeks, he got 25 000 subscriptions for tickets and the many emails as well. I regularly send the newsletter, but some people may not receive those that Thunderbird is blocking my address because it is considered to be phishing. I send them through Sendy (amazon) because of the large number that can be handled through normal e-mail services.

    No idea on the way out?

    Thanks in advance!

    Thunderbird has no facilities to block anything. This is the client software of e-mail running on your computer.
    If you have been to the index error message should include instructions to fixing that. If this is not the case, contact your ISP or email for assistance.

  • Can the files removed from Windows Explorer after having been imported in the first?

    Hey everybody,

    Pretty self explanatory question. I know that in something like Windows Movie Maker, you must keep all the videos imported to the same place that you imported in provenance, because they are referenced directly from Explorer. Premiere Pro set to the top in the same way, or it creates a cache somewhere, allowing you to edit the content of the Explorer without disrupting the PP? Thank you!

    First is related to where ever you put the files on your computer, it uses the files without copying so that they stay on the pc.

  • Cannot connect to the vcenter until 10 minutes after the vcenter server computer starts

    I get the unable to connect to remote server message in vsphere client when I try to connect the server vcenter. However if I wait more than 10 minutes, I can properly connect to the vcenter server.

    Is there something wrong with it?

    And I wonder if the competent services to process the requests of connection on the vcenter server are not started immediately from the start?

    Where is installed your database? On the same box of vCenter server? If so, change the other boot option that delayed may not work because your vCenter will try to start before the database is online.

  • Will there be traps to vCenter Server installation on a host in a cluster that is already managed by another server vCenter Server?

    I guess that the first answer, I'll be back will be; Why?

    Our Organization has decided that the team of UNIX and the Windows team cannot share a single server vCenter Server that manages the environment. This is why the Windows team has offered a virtual computer in which we installed vCenter Server and then we can create our environment from there.

    Yes, I already read the doco on the creation of a virtual machine via the Client vSphere on an ESXi host we manage already. It's a viable option, but server 2008r2 should again be a picture they have made.

    I watched the vCenter Server appliance for linux, but from what I can tell that would be too small for our environment and is not supported for Symantec Appha.

    Yes, it would be nice if we could all play nice, but mgmt don't we have to so that's where we are.

    The ideas and concerns would be useful...

    Thank you!

    I see - it's just an unusual set of circumstances. As long as the virtual machine has network connectivity, it should work. It would be really no different than having a physical server with vCenter running on it.

  • VCenter Server replacement

    I have two servers to ESX 4.0 running without connection to a server vCenter Server and nobody here knows anything about what happens, they use Vshpere Client to log into the ESX host individually to manage their vm I loaded vshpere Server on a member server down. I try to add the ESX host and received this message:

    The host is already managed by IP address: x.x.x.x only the vcenter server can manage this host. If you manage to add the vCenter server host, the host will lose its connection to its original vCenter server. Are you sure you want to continue?

    I have not had a chance looking for this and I don't know what will happen to the current host, if I leave.

    -Will be the closure of the ESX host?

    -J' I lose functionality?

    -Is their a better way practical to add the ESX host to the new server vShpere?

    Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to the community - at some point this host was managed by a vCenter server - and very well may still be.  Have you tried ping this IP address? Did you try the score vSphere client to the IP address and see if you can connect to this server vCenter? -of what this looks like is that the host can be managed by a vCenter server - if it is not no problem adding the host of your existing environment.

    you will not be arrested the ESXi host.

    You shouldn't lose perfect as long this license does not charly-

    The way you go about adding your host is the correct methid-

  • When is it more logical to have the physical vCenter Server?

    I know a vCenter server can be virtual, and works well in smaller environments (3-5-hosts, in VM 50 to 75)... I was wondering what is the general rule for when it makes more sense to have the physical vCenter server... I ask because I work there where there are 23 hosts, with 225 VM location (close to 80 who are seen VM)... Currently the vCenter Server is physical. It connects to a virtual computer for the SQL database, which works pretty well... I think that in its environment could work just as well as a virtual machine.

    I just want to see what people generally find configurations. When you keep the Server vCenter as physics? What is the real world results? We have a few strong enough host, as well as solid EMC (fiber channel connected) storage servers, etc...

    PEACE!

    have your DB on a separate server allows the passage of physical to virtual so much easier.  After all, you will use the same PB.  Stop the physical area, save your DB, installing vCenter on a virtual computer and use existing DB...

    You can also make a copy of the SSL directory on the host OS old vCenter.  And for good measure, take note of the ID Unique vCenter server:

  • Problem migrating Vcenter server from the old cluster to the new cluster?

    Hey guys,.

    Just came across this situation, and I don't know what to do. I pass my vcenter server older glomerulus with hosts of esx4.0, to a more recent cluster with hosts of esxi4.1. The material of host machines are different generations, and vmotion don't migrate vcenter because of the cpu sets between cluster mismatch. If I could turn off the virtual machine and migrate it would work, but since it's my vcenter Server I can't do.

    Should I restore it on the new cluster?

    Thanks for the suggestions/tips

    Kevin

    Connect directly to the ESX host using your client vsphere, vCenter vm shutdown, vCenter remove inventory, then go to the new host, browse the data store on the vCenter vm is, and add the vCenter Server inventory.

    This assumes that the same storage is presented to both hosts.  If this isn't the case, you will need to use winscp or something similar to copy the files from the virtual machine.

  • I can point my Lab Manager 4.0.2 to point to another new vCenter Server?

    Hi guys,.

    I have a client with a LM4.0.2 production and we are considering moving to one another new/a vCenter server.

    It is important to note that the new vCenter will NOT have the same DB or FULL of the old domain name. It's a completely different vCenter with other ESX hosts.

    Now the questions:

    Can I redirect my Lab Manager (VM) at the new vcenter without any problem?

    What of the ESX (resource) on the old vcenter?

    Is it possible to do this without downtime for laboratories? If this is not the case, how can I minimize downtime? cancel the deployment will be enough?

    Does anyone have this done successfully?

    Any comments would be much appreciated.

    Eyal

    etamir,

    There are some excellent discussions within this forum on the same topic.  I strongly suggest to read first, and I'll see if I can find an example.

    Before going further, data warehouses used in the new vCenter/ESX environment will be exactly the same as the current one?  If you want to keep all of your configurations, I need to know that the UUID of the LUN does not change during this process.

    Can I redirect my Lab Manager (VM) at the new vcenter without any problem?

    You can change the IP/domain FULL name vCenter in the settings section of the Lab Manager site... now on the problems that could result.

    You will need to remove anything from the GUI of Lab Manager that has to do with the current vCenter (unedploy, unprepare host esx, resource pools, configurations etc.).  There will be more on this in the dedicated thread

    What of the ESX (resource) on the old vcenter?

    ESX doesn't really matter, it's the data UUID store that matters.  ESX is just virtual machines.  Note: you'll want to throw all States/suspend points on the VMS where processors are different on the ESX hosts.

    > Is it possible to do this without downtime for laboratories?

    No, there will be a form any downtime.  Either that LM site will be useless (no resources with Betclic, consoles will does not work until the guests are prepared, etc.).

    > If not, how can I reduce downtime? cancel the deployment will be enough?

    Yes, to cancel the deployment of will help... but there will be some lag as you reconfigure Manager of laboratory to use the new vCenter.

    > Has anyone successfully done this?

    Yes.  I saw others to do this.

  • about 700 cases being removed from file server withour permission (2003)

    Hello

    We had a problem with the files being removed from our file server.

    We lost about 700 files in about 40 directories since the date codes of file between 30 November 2014 and December 3, 2014. All files before this date do not have touch.

    Our backup 1 December had all the files. Our backup 5 December have only files before September 1, 2014 and after December 3, 2014.

    My question is how can this happen without going into each directory and sorted my date of cade and Marvel files for this date range.

    Matter that has any other ideals on how this could happen?

    Thank you

  • How can I change the licenseManager focus to be a host when it is connected to a vCenter Server

    I used the software VMware Perl SDK.

    I wrote a script to host license request.

    When I connect directly to a host, I'm able to query that host ESX (i) of the licence, if it is in evaluation mode or not. I am happy with this feature.

    When I connect to a vCenter server, I want to be able to change the direction of licenseManager to a specific host. How can I do this?

    for example:

    My $service_content = Vim::get_service_content();

    My $license_manager = Vim::get_view (mo_ref = > $service_content-> licenseManager);

    With the code above, when I me lorsque je me connecte connect to vCenter, the focus is on the vCenter Server licenses and there all licenses.

    I would like to be able to focus on a particular host. How do I do that?

    I played a little more and I found that I can use the QueryAssignedLicenses sub and directly to the host target.

    Continuing my code from my original post

    My $target_host_view = Vim::find_entity_view (view_type-online 'HostSystem', filter-online {name-online 'ESXiHOST'});

    licenseAssignmentManager);

    My = $license_assignment_manager $assigned_licenses-> QueryAssignedLicenses (entityId-online $target_host_view-> summary-> host-> value);

    $assigned_licenses will now be an object array with your assigned license.

    Because there is an a table object, you can also do:

    my $license = @{$assigned_licenses} [0]-> assignedLicense;

    And you can display items such as:

    Print $license--> name. "\n";

    Print $license--> licenseKey. "\n";
