  I have a question where adding a network printer is successful. I can see the printer in the Device Manager and I can print as well. However, it does not immediately appear under devices and printers and takes a long time to appear. Can someone help me please as soon as possible?

  I do not see my external hard drive in my computer but I can't in my devices and printers.  I too see the drive in disk management.  There is a lot of data on my hard drive that I need to save. It says that I have to initialize so the computer sees the drive but it clears my data. How to recover data? The drive works and makes no noise. Help, please. I uninstalled the RPG player

• Need to change the printer default BUT: devices & printers is completely empty.

  I need to change my default printer.  I know how to do in devices and printers, but there is a problem:

  "Devices and printers" show nothing, even after a half-hour search.  I am running Windows 7 Ultimate edition.

  When "devices and printers" are selected in the Control Panel, there is no evidence that installed; devices or printers. Printers are selectable from software such as Excel or Word. However, I can't access any printer to make the default. Have removed and reinstalled the printer without result. This function is used to work.

  I have recentlt my oppreating system upgrade to vista Home premium and now my internal webcam is more listed in my list of control panels device. When I try to add the cam, it is not detected.  I use a toshiba 355-s7905 and Im sure somebody another thenme thing, smarter has been through this and found a salution. If Yes please inlighten me.

  1. that you get an error trying to transfer files?

  2. What is the brand and model of your camcorder?

  Follow these steps and check if that helps.

  1 - Power on the camcorder, and double-click the name of the software to open it on the computer.

  2 - Click on the 'file' tab on the software to open a folder containing all digital video recordings stored on the camcorder.

  3 - Click on the video file you want to transfer to the computer, then click on "Import", "Transfer", "Copy to PC" or similar expressions, depending on the camcorder model. A copy of the video file are saved on the hard disk of the PC.

  If you have a SD card, then proceed as follows.

  1. fix the card reader with a USB cable to a free USB port on your computer. Skip this step if your computer has an internal card reader.

  2. right click on 'My Computer' and choose 'Explore' in the menu. Find the drive letter that corresponds to your card reader and right-click on it. Choose 'Explorer' from the menu to display the list of the pictures on the card.

  3. highlight each of the photographs that you want to transfer. When you are done highlighting the files, right click and choose 'Copy' from the menu. Find the folder on your hard drive where you want to save photographs. Right click and choose "Paste" from the menu to transfer the files on the hard drive.

  First stop, let's get on with this question on the Feedback Forum for answers to the hardware and drivers Forum.
  As for your question, with most devices there are a few parameters to charge your phone. (depending on your phone)
  1. charge only
  2 USB mass storage
  3 synchronization
  Make sure that your phone is correctly configured, for more information on this topic, I suggest you to consult your documentation or support page of the phone.

  Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

  Since it has been designed to work with Vista, XP & 2000, it may not work in Windows 7 due to incompatibility problem. Therefore, I suggest you to visit the Web site of the manufacturer of the hard drive and download the driver available for the latest operating system.

  If the driver is not available for Windows 7, download the compatible driver for the previous version of Windows and I install it in compatibility mode.

  a. do the driver installation file right click and select Properties and then tap or click on the compatibility tab.

  b. check in the run this program in compatibility mode for: box.

  c. press or click the menu drop down and select a previous operating system, and then tap or click OK.

  d. try to install the driver and verify.

  Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  How do I change the icon of the generic printer for a period that best represents my printer. No problem on the other two systems with Win7, but the new machine gives me a way to change. It is for me a custom icon for my HP printer, but a generic for my Epson printer. Have some custom icons for the two printers on other machines in Win7. Help!

  But since your other Win 7 systems give you a specific device for your printer icon, I think all you have to do on this system is to check the appropriate box as shown here--> http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-7-download-latest-drivers-icons-devices-automatically once you check the box, you need to maybe reboot or do a manual Windows Update check updates to download the correct icon.

• Dell Inspiron 560MT desktop shows as laptop in devices and printers.

  Original title: My Dell Inspiron 560MT Office presents itself as the laptop & is now described as a laptop in the devices & printers after installing Microsoft updates.

  I did a back to factory reinstall on my windows 7 destop & the appropriate icon on the desktop & description appeared in the devices & Printers: he has been described as a Dell Inspiron (I think or something like).
  After searching & install microsoft updates the desktop icon ichanged to an icon of the laptop & my PC has been described as a laptop.

  I downloaded the Microsoft Mr Fixit 50527 listed on this site (see below) for this problem. My icon briefly changed back to a desktop computer - I don't know if the text changed cell phone on the desk, as the icon returned to be very quickly - new: a laptop so I couldn't verify this.

  It happened again - the icon changed to return a laptop icon & I am looking for more information, but some things seemed quite complicated.

  In any case, I wondered what would happen if I unchecked "replace generic icons & then Microsoft has set as the fix has worked before, but only very briefly for a few seconds before changing to the wrong laptop icon.»

  So I just did--
  A click with the right button on the laptop icon
  Clicked on the device (from the list who came)
  Click "replace generic icons.
  Then I did another Microsoft fix (I mentioned previously on this post) & it seems to have WORKED.

  It now shows the correct icon (an office) & information
  Reference of the manufacturer Dell Inc.
  The Inspiron 560 model.

• run the system 7 pro. Can no longer access devices and printers OR convenience store can not print. Help

  I did everything that was asked of me, but nothing helped. I have no viruses/malware on board. I tried the fix Blutooth, I tried the fix noted. Nothing. I can't always access devices/printers or troubleshooting. I would accept with gratitude any suggestions.

  The system is a DELL System 7 pro auroura (replaced my XPS 8500 when it crapped out under warranty.) Don't want to launch another unrelated question but why 9 months microsoft since harassing me bootleg software when I use the official product delivered directly from DELL?

  You should not use tweaks windows 7 to Windows 8. They do not apply. You can remove the printer in devices and printers, and then choose Add a printer to install it again. It will use the drivers that you have already installed.

• Win 7 home: rejected devices

  Hey, I bought new Toshiba with Windows 7 Home Edition in the shop.

  At home, I tried to connect my current devices: printers and mobile modems.
  It wouldn't work. An error or a warning message appears in the connecting a device, saying that there is a problem with the driver. However, before the driver installation by running the installation discs does not help, to used to be with the same features on my old computers.

  With respect to modems, it is supposed to function as a memory card USB usual, showing as new drive after plugging into USB port. It must be saved as a new drive and run the automatic installation program located on this drive. However, the drive is not detected even after manual installation of the appropriate programs. This seems to be a significant collapse of the whole concept of plug-and-play approach, while I have to waste my time now consult specialists and looking for a better job OS.

  If you are using Windows 7 64 bit, then you must have certified drivers. Have you checked the web sites of these devices if they are taken in charge and then download the drivers?
