Difficulty of 'Vista' Start menu and fix fileing system

I wrote this in the field of the quote in one of your forums... but I wasn't sure you'd get it so I'm sending in "ask a question".

Hello Rami,

I see you are intelligent when it comes to pc! I'm having a problem with my 'vista' Start menu... when I click on the My Documents folder, it does not open... It is in my c: drive and I can find it and open it so I know its there, but I just can access in my startup?... ??? I have also 4 files from office... 1 is above my folder owners and 3 are in my folder owners... I have some how really messed my sync files... the office and documents are my main concern. But I also have the problem in my system of all fileing... I'm looking for a way to get everything back in order... Thanks for reading and for any information you can give. )

Hello

1 you get an error message when tried to access My Documents or files from office?
2. you are the administrator of the computer?

My Documents and Documents are located in two different places.
My Documents is located in C:\Users\\Documents, while Documents is located in libraries in Windows Explorer.

Visit this link for more information on "what happened to My Documents?" http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-NZ/Windows-Vista/what-happened-to-my-documents

  • Vista Start Menu problems

This is similar to the problems of others on the Vista Start Menu and the taskbar. I looked at the answer, tried to do, but it is already on the "'Start Menu" look, with the "Classic Start Menu" unchecked. "

He remains in the classic style. Even the scrollbars, windows and Microsoft Paint Program file have a look outdated. In fact, everything, but my Google Chrome browser is outdated, even if the scroll bar is white and square.

I love my computer and what she looked like before. This has happened after that my laptop has suffered a systematic update. I leave my laptop rest and waited to reconnect. The first I noticed was the Start Menu obsolete, white square and unpleasant. Another thing I noticed, it was a bubble of a word on a system event Notification. I don't know if it plays a role in this dilemma.

I want just the Start Menu of Vista to look like a Vista Start menu.

    Hi MLD1990,

Step 1: start by checking the event notification to know what could have happened.

    See the links below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/open-Event-Viewer

Step 2: this could also be a problem with the themes, you can try to change to a different theme (Vista's Aero theme) and then check out.

For more information, see the links below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-desktop-theme

Step 3: you can also check the recently installed updates to know what could be the cause.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Vista Start menu will not open. Only the classic display works.

My Start menu does not open when I click on it. It also won't work when I press the windows button. The only way to get the start menu to open is to change the menu to Classic view. Help, please!

    HI Phillyeagles5000,

You can restore the start menu original, default settings.

    1. open properties of the Start Menu by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, appearance and personalization, then clicking on the taskbar and Start Menuand the taskbar.

    2. click on the tab Start Menu and then click Customize.

    3. in the Customize the Start Menu dialog box, click use the default settings, and then click OK.

If this does not work, you can create a new user account and see if it helps.

    1. open user accounts by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety (or by clicking on user accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking user accounts.

    2. click on Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. click on create a new account.

4 type the name that you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click create an account.

If it works you can copy files to the new user profile.

  • Start menu and white disappeared from tasks

    Hello

recently, my internet explore and google chrome said that they were not able to work. So I searched online how to solve the problem, but now have a new. After you follow the steps, my Start menu and taskbar went white, I can't connect to my internet with various other things. How can I fix it?

Windows key is the key of Windows flag located at the bottom left of your keyboard between the Ctrl and ALT keys

Have you tried to restart the services using the directions that I listed above.

Perform a restore of your system if it is still impossible to start the system restore.  No other alternative.

Disconnect all external devices - printer, speakers, microphone, etc...

Start > in the search bar, type Recovery > select Recovery Manager

Turn the system power off, reboot and start typing the key F11, F10 or F8 (depends on your system brand) to bring up the recovery screen

    Good luck

  • Satellite L30 - 105 - tapping Touchpad Vista start menu comes up

Since I got my laptop (PSL33E) when I press the touch pad to select something sometimes the Vista start menu happens which is really annoying.

    Someone else had this problem?

    > When I press the touch pad to select something sometimes the Vista start menu comes up

I think it is nothing unusual, because the area touchpad or corners can be configured to randomly.
I recommend that you check the touchpad configuration and if you want to disable some annoying features or elements.

The configuration of the touchpad should be found in the control panel-> mouse-> properties or advanced control.
I do not exactly remember the way where to find these options.

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.

  • HP Start Menu and the desktop icons for HP printer Diagnostic tools

    Hello world

I have a HP Desktop F4440 all-in-one printer and I use the Windows XP operating system. I have all the scanning software and others installed from the original HP installation disk or updates from the HP Web site for this printer. Everything works very well at the moment, but there is a small problem. The HP icon shortcuts for the Menu start-up and functions for the printer changed to a generic icon at a time given to these two places after the software installation CD was used by me to install the printer programs or desktop icon HP to utilities "Diagnostic Tools HP printer" original. It works fine otherwise, when I want to go check something on the Tools of diagnosis HP printer or HP Solution Center, but the HP icon changed to a generic at a time for a reason unknown, inexplicable. I don't have no changes to my system until the problem occurred to my knowledge other casual upgrade for the operating system or install a new windows update or HP software updates or restart the computer, but some schooner point after one of these upgrades, HP put to date or restart the HP start menu and desktop icons time replaced by a generic.

Can someone tell me how I can recover the original HP icon and get her back Amendment? It was an icon on the web since the HP printer Diagnostics utility or function is based on the web. Is there a way I can save a copy of just the file on my computer icon so that if it goes back to that generic again once I can more easily change what it is supposed to be? I thank very you much for your help and advice.

    Hi there yoseph13,

What has happened to me too, but after a windows update. Half the icons on my desktop have been affected. I hope that this fix works for you as well. Right-click on the icon. Go to properties. Click Change icon. Select the icon and click ok then apply and ok again. If the icon does not appear, you will need to navigate to the folder of the software and select the application.

    Good luck!

  • The start menu and the task balk disappeared

    On my windows XP the task and menu balk start screen disappeared as a result of a mouse click. "Just the icons on the side right.<" remained.="" what="" should="" i="" do="" to="" get="" the="" balk="" back?="" any="" help="" will="" be="">

    Hi janavasiljev,

This problem can occur for the following reasons:
    • Auto-hide the taskbar has been selected for the taskbar and Start Menu Properties.
    • Your user account settings are corrupt.
    • The core files are damaged.
    • The Explorer.exe file does not load at startup.

Make sure that the hide option automatically is not selected for the taskbar and Start Menu Properties.

To determine if the hide option automatically is not enabled for the taskbar and Start Menu properties, follow these steps:

    a. press CTRL + ESC.

    b. If the Start menu is displayed, click on the Start menu and then click Properties.

    c. click on the task bar , clear the Auto-hide the taskbar option and then click OK.

    For more information, see:

  • Properties of the Start Menu and task bar

In the tab Area of Notification of the bar of tasks and properties of the Start Menu window, under "system icons" it allows me to select which system icons I want to always show, such as; Clock, Volume, powerand there is a check box for the network, but it is translucent and does not allow me to check the box.

I got this icon there before, but now he's gone and I want to.

I let my brother use my computer and when I got back to this subject, the icon disappeared, so I have no idea how he managed to disappear, but I want to come back and have no idea how to do.
