Digital and analog generation and acquisition using USB-6251

Hi all

I have to actually synchronize a 6251, USB and USB 6366 Board. I have a vi, which is good that now I am able to use the 6366 as the master and as slave 6251, attached tie. The master generates a digital trigger for (generation synchronization) pulse and the acquisition of the signals on both cards, analog signal ramp and acquires signals. The slave acquires only a series of signals after outbreak.

I want to have the 6251 as master and as slave 6366. The vi attached the other way around as I mentioned above. When I try to use the 6251 as the master, I get an error asking me to specify the clock source (I did the material and some changes in the program as well, as export properly 6251 at 6366 clock).

Thank you

SANJU

Thanks for your reply jonathon,

But in your code below, I coudnt get the Outpput internal PCI-6251/ctrl0...

but I hardwaired the o/p (PFI 12) meter... .and generated a signal meter on this port, I used that as the clock...

Thank you

How do you have your battery connected? Do you use polarization resistors? This could be a grounding problem and can be fixed if the polarization resistors are used. See table 1 in this document , and the differential configuration for a floating source.

  • niHSDIO dynamic generation and Acquisition using LV configure Trigger VI

    Hello!

My experience is limited within the environment of digital programming; Nevertheless, I have worked on this problem for a few days and would appreciate some comments if possible.

I am trying simply to generate and acquire a duty cycle of 50% of 8 MHz TTL pulse train on a PIN DIO of the PCI-6541 and acquire back from the signal on another axis of DIO. I have a connector corresponding to the embedded 6541 VHDCI connector which of course the generation and acquisition DIO welded pins to provide a loopback effect.

In short, I use the niHSDIO configure Trigger VI (instance--> start Trig: SW), niHSDIO send software Edge Trigger VI and write Named Waveform VI (instance--> data: 1 D U32) in the generation section. For the section of the acquisition, in short, I use the VI of waveform Fetch niHSDIO (instance--> single record: WDT).

I see results in the waveform acquired showing the generated and acquired digital TTL pulse on the respective DIO pins train, but I can't seem to get my 8 MHz frequency requirement. In addition, the lower part of the assignment of pin DIO, more frequency. Unfortunately, due to the configuration system required, I have confined myself to pin 12 DIO for the generation of digital pulses. Even with a 50 MHz clock frequency, I'm ~ 6 kHz of frequency acquired max. I looked at changing the parameters of the wave form VI named write, but it is not possible because the VI call a library function node. I also tried to generate a waveform of 8 MHz through a VI of generator of digital model, but I do not believe, you can trigger on generated waveforms? It seems that you must generate data using a simple loop to as a counter and sending the result to the waveform VI named write. Are there other ways I can simply generate and acquire a digital signal of TTL of 8 MHz (no external connection)?

In any case, any kind of feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time.

    Dan,

Sorry about the nomenclature.  I usually use 0 x or 0 b for indication of radix, it is not necessarily a kind of standard, just what I used in my old days of the Assembly.

Looks like you have a knowledge about the data.  Basically the material is just save in DRAM an array of words of 32 bits, with each bit corresponds to a data channel and each element being generated to the sampling clock rate you enter to your vi.  Everything else is just easy data manipulation or usage.  The interleaving method is just as I like to create a toggle model.  You can easily do a loop with an inverter and feedback node or use on the construction in screws to signal generation.  In addition, you can use the software digital waveform editor or control panel test to generate the county or toggle modes.

Give us an update when you enter the laboratory and let us know if you encounter any other disorder.

  • Windows 7 does not recognize my 3 Seagate external drives but is very good with Western Digital and other sticks USB Flash. Windows Vista will see them.

My apologies if this is a query repeatedly, but I can't find a job anywhere and he leads me into the wall.

I have 3 external Seagate hard drives. All 3 range from about 3 years 11 months old, 1 TB - 3 TB of capacity, and I use them all from time to time to back up my media. In the past months, my Dell XPS ceased to recognize them, 95% of the time. Sometimes they will be Plug and Play and be fine, but otherwise the result when I plug them is coming the power light and the whirring disc fortunately but nothing on the laptop. They recognized themselves on my other machines running Vista. All other Flash memory devices are very good.

I also have a hard drive Western Digital external powered, almost identical, that Plug and play every time.

I tried all my ports and various cables and adapters. I tried them on other machines and they are very good, it seems to be just with my Dell and the Seagates. It recognizes everything that I plug in there from the iPhone to Flash Drives. It has all the latest drivers and Windows updates.

When they're not working, they do not appear in the devices, disk management, Explorer or UVCView Manager. When they do, all settings appear to be well. My laptop runs Windows 7 Edition Home Premium with Service Pack 1.

I assigned each their own letter drive, disabled power management and they are not protected by Word. The drivers are the standard Windows ones, because these devices do not use their own. I have the latest chipset drivers, everything works perfectly and is completely up to date.

When I run UVCView (when one of them does not work), it is said there is an error autour MaxPacketSize, current externally is set to 9 and it said "ERROR: low peripheral speed require bMaxPacketSize0 = 8" branded error. I don't know if this is a factor? This may explain why it's slower transfer data to my machine that has USB3.0 it does on another machine, it begins at 130 MB/s and falls to 30 in 10 seconds.

I tried all combinations of power off.

    I activated the network detection.

I uninstalled all the USB in the Device Manager and reinstalled after the start.

All 3 discs work instantly in my older Vista laptop runing.

I am a loss to understand. I'm pulling my hair out and I don't have a lot to lose these days! There must be a setting in my computer or on the Seagates but I checked all the usual places and some of the more irritable areas.

    Thank you in advance.

I'm surprised that the removal of the INFCACHE did not work.  Readers (all external references in fact) were cut at the time, right?  With a reboot after and before you plug anything back?

These instructions really come down to:

Unplug all USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse
    Open C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore
    INFCACHE.1 and rename it INFCACHE.old
    Restart the computer
Reconnect it (one at a time) each USB device - giving the system about 30 seconds per device to 'catch up '.

If you got on the rest as well your system files are good to go.

You have a floating signal source. Have you connected resistances to remove polarisation currents? Look at Table 1 at this link and make sure that you connect the wires in this way:

Wiring and considerations of noise for analog signals

You mention that you use differential channel AI0 again I can see that you measure AI4 on your façade. Have you tested the Max connection? Are what kind of reading you there? Don't forget to select the continuous Acquisition and acquire 100 samples to 1000 Hz. display a snapshot of the reading you get there.

  • USB-6251 power(+5V) LED is not solid but flashes when turned on

    Hi all

I have been using USB-6251 for 3 years without problems until last week.

Since last Thursday, when I turn on the Board of Directors, the power led (which is located on the top, we write also POWER (+ 5V)) starts to blink and my laptop does not recognize the Governing Council.

Before this problem, when I turn on the bud the power led was solid and my laptop automatically recognizes the jury.

I'd be happy if someone can help me to know what happened to my Board of Directors.

    Thank you!

    skim,

I would try a couple of things:

    (1) try a different USB port on the computer, and probably not the question, but a good starting point.

    (2) validate the external power supply you are using is to show the voltage it is assumed.

    (3) try another computer if you have one.

    (4) check the fuse (Details) USB device and see if it is blown. I can't find anything in the M-Series user manual the retail why should 5V power light blink.

If none of these work, then the best option is to return the material to the OR and get it fixed.

RMA procedures for hardware details are here.

  • Digital and analog inputs simultaneously - NI USB-6009 and NI USB-6212 - ANSI C

    Hello

I'm reading at all times and at the same time analog and digital inputs. Digital and analog samples must be sampled at the same clock and acquisition should be started (triggered?) at the same time (I don't want, after some time, analog reception more digital samples - the opposite is also true).

-Is it possible sync analog and digital acquisition in the paintings?

    -If so, how?

    Thank you

    Hello tcbusatta,

Two of these modules, USB = 6008 and USB-6212, support only timed software inputs and digital outputs.  This means that you cannot define material timing (like finished sampling or continuous) for these modules.  Digital lines can be retrieved or written once to each call DAQmx read.

This means that you will not be able to get any type of synchronization tight between the analogue and digital channels.  You will need a Board such as the NI USB-6341 in order to synchronize the AI and DI closely.

  • Generation and acquisition at the same time, acquisition of data USB-6356

    Hello

I have a VI how is able to read entries with a USB DAQ-6356 and I use a generator of signals 'Agilent 33522 A '. I want to generate and acquire with the acquisition of data.

In fact it works but not well, the frequency is not very stable and does not stop the 2nd loop with 1 (2nd is generating, 1 is Acquire).

    Thanks in advance

P.S my VI isn't a state machine true because I need to fight against it at the moment.

OK, so you're at 3 ms/s in writing and reading at 1.25Ms / sec and you wonder why he has a little difference in the frequency set?  Ideally, you want to read and write to share a sample clock but by selecting at least the same frequency clock (or one that is one multiple of the other) would go a long way to fixing this source of your error.

The second source of error: you generate a contineous waveform.  unless you select 'whole number of cycles' there is a discontinuity when the end is reached at an arbitrary phase and the phase is reset to zero at the beginning of the wave.  DAQ assistant writing can "Use Waveform Timing" to adapt its sync settings to the dt waveform and the number of samples.

  • 6009 outputs digital and analog input synchronization

    Hello

I work in a program NI 6009. I want to leds by car with outputs digital NI 6009. For example, leads first will be on until what 200 micro seconds then second led will be on up to 200 micro seconds, and then first of all led will be on up to 200 micro seconds. I'll take led with photodedector signals and connect analog output photodedector input NI 6009. I want to synchronize the outputs digital and analog input and separate the first and second led signals the analog input for NI 6009 channel. How can you do with NI 6009? Please ADV

You can not do with the USB-6009 case. Its outputs digital are software with a maximum speed of slightly more than 100 samples per second. The outputs can produce 200 microsecond pulses and cannot be synchronized with the analog input.

You need a device with outputs digital hardware timed or counters that can produce a pulse outputs.

You can synchronize a bit digital output and analog input recording signal on an additional channel to HAVE. Will allow you to see the photodetector and LED the drive with the same schedule and such resolution as described by the sampling rate I. The maximum sampling frequency of AI on the USB-6009 case is 48 kHz that is shared by all channels. If you have two lights to led and photodetector two signals maximum sampling rate would be 48 kHz/4 = 6 kHz which is barely fast enough for your 200 US signals. For more than 4 channels, it won't be fast enough.

I suggest a simple oscillator circuit building and use it to clock a flip flop. This will give you alternating signals to drive the LEDs. You can use a line to reset the flip flop to give you control without the need for high speed.

  • 6143 - PCI or PCI-6133: simultaneous reading of analog, digital, and counter

    Hello Board,

I want to use a PCI-6143 or 6133 to acquire permanently synchronized values ports analog, digital, and counter on the same device.

I use vb.net to build an application that reads the values of the device buffer and stores them in lists for later use.

By reading some other threads I discovered, that all the S series devices are able to use a source of material for the release of the digital ports.

Here are two among them? What meter ports, they suffer from the same problem?

Software trigger is no option because the sampling rate must be accurate.

Thanks in advance for the answers,

    M.B.

    Hi M.B.

6143 does not support Correlated DIO (i.e. clocked by the hardware), the 6133 (see-> digital I/o--> Timing). As a result, synchronized doing of entry works with the latter. Acquisition of meter in the buffer is available on both devices. The 6133 also authorizes analog and digital triggering.

To synchronize these tasks, you need to export a clock signal (sample clock HAVE for example) and take to the DIOs and counters for an acquisition in the buffer. An example for synchronization of AI and DI is given once you install the DAQmx driver in the folder when you are using Windows XP. Maybe you can start with that and gradually add your features.

Please let me know if you need more specific information.

    Kind regards

    Peter

  • Retrigger encoder and acquisition of analog input on the spur of Z?

I have a card PCI-6232 and use THIS angular Encoder on the counter 1 to provide a base mean angle for Internet high speed (50-100 kHz) measures the analog voltage.  I use a period of CI on counter 2 to measure the duration of the impulse of Z to determine the length of each measure.  It kinda works, but the result is somewhat contradictory.  I get about 1 in three cycles without encoder data.  I need to find a way to trigger the acquisition to record data for each cycle trigger on the pulse of Z.  If you know another way to do this I'd be open to that as well.  Thank you, Steve

    Hi Sara,.

Thanks for your reply.  What I wanted to do was to trigger an analysis of the encoder and an entry at the same time triggering the pulse of z analog encoder.  It took a lot of digging through similar samples and after a week of fighting, I thought about it tonight.  I'll post this once I clean up the mess.  Problem solved thanks to dozens of you ad info and samples!
