Dimension 4600 'Process1_initialization_failed"" STOP: 0x0000006b ".

Hi, this is my first time using a forum to ask for help, please bare with me if I get anything wrong or are a little slow on things :).

My computer acted kinda weird lately--knows a mistake after another.

Here's the history:

Im a Dell Dimension 4600 that I bought around about 3-4 years running. I usually don't have many mistakes - even if I do, I managed to fix it somehow. Lately, my computer began to spoil a little as it showed a blue screen error - "STOP: c0000221 {bad image checksum}" whenever I rebooted, that little much just locked me to my account. Somehow, I managed to fix it with the "Recovery Console" - well, I thought that I did, as he then started showing a "lsass.exe - system error" immediately after (yes even at startup)... After a few hours of searching in Google, I have been advised by others to repair the installation.

Well, things went very well at the moment, but suddenly, the repair facility closed and restarted the computer - now leaving me with a «Process1_initialization_failed...» "STOP: 0X0000006B (0X00000008, 0XC000007A, 0X00000000, 0X00000000).

Notes:

  • Current running Windows XP Home Edition SP2, 1 GB RAM, 1 x 120 GB HD.
  • Cannot use floppy drive as I don't have your disks.
  • CD player is a little faulty, as I believe, so that it can not read some CD Roms.
  • I still have the installation CD of Windows that came with the computer, but since it was there before, it's just a Windows XP Home Edition SP 1.
  • Without my computer doesn't have Norton Antivirus or installed Roxio.
  • The computer never updated before this happened.
  • To save disk space I needed desperately, I don't think that the system restore would have a backup.
  • The computer just froze a few times - no reply at all and then rebooted - and then it all happened.

Someone at - he never corrected this before or know how?

I really need to access my account - I have a lot of important documents and photo albums I need as soon as possible.

Do not hesitate to ask for more information and suggestions welcome.

Sorry if I do not understand what you say (Please reduce some abbriviations?) - I rarely use Windows to advanced stuff.

Thanks for reading!

We have a six year XP old Dell laptop. We recently had an upgrade memory and it works very well.

Yesterday, we got what I now know to be a BSOD (blue screen of death!). I'm unable to go beyond the blue screen and complete functions. I tried all of the advanced options, including the 3 security modes.

    The message is "Process1_Initialization_Failed.

Stop: 0x0000006B (0xc0000102, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0 x 000000000). Is anyone aware of how to get back or if I can get all the files on the laptop without being able to boot windows?

I have a cd Windows xp home edition reinstallaton, but if I put in the drive, it is not recognized and is the BSOD. Thank you

    Patty

I knew that there is an AVG in here somewhere...  AVG is at least a part of your problem.

Here's how to fix this error:

If you see a message like this:

    PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED
    STOP: 0x0000006B (0c 00000034), 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

That means that your c:\windows\system32\ntdll.dll file is missing.

Of course, the file must never be missing, but it may have been quarantined (actually deleted) by your antivirus/antimalware software.

There are other copies of the file that is missing on your system in other places, so you just need to replace it.

You can replace the file from the XP Recovery Console.

If you do not have a genuine XP bootable installation CD to boot into XP Recovery Console (or if you are unsure of what you have) you should make a CD of XP Recovery Console and don't forget (no support for XP not necessary).  If you need to know how to do this, just ask.

Once started in the XP Recovery Console, that:

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

We know that XP keeps copies of critical system files in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Starting the XP Recovery Console prompt, enter the following command:

    Copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\ntdll.dll c:\windows\system32

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file and then you should see a message that 1 file (s) has been copied.

If the copy command is unable to find a copy of the file in the dllcache folder, this command may work depending on how your XP has been installed:

    Copy c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\ntdll.dll c:\windows\system32

Type "exit" to exit the Recovery Console and the system will restart.

You will see then a menu of boot options so if you do, choose Start Windows normally.

    I fixed and fixed until now it does not even start.  Error message is 'Process1_Initialization_Failed.  Stop: 0x0000006B (0xc0000034, 0 x 0000002, 0000000 0 x, 0 x 0000000)

Tried: emergency disk, Windows CD, last known backup reliable start - all the same result.

    Jim

Looks like you c:\windows\system32\ntdll.dll file is missing.

    -What happened?

Are you able to boot to a CD to enter into the XP Recovery Console?

If so, replace the file missing from backup copies which keep the XP on the system:

We know that XP likes to keep the backup copies of critical system files in this folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Knowing this, start in Recovery Console XP using your genuine XP bootable installation CD or if you have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, you can make one (no XP media required).

Copy the backup copy of the missing file and replace the missing or suspicious file by using this command:

    Copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\ntdll.dlll c:\windows\system32

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file and then you should see a message that 1 file (s) has been copied.

If you can't find the backup copy, this may work (depending on your installation):

    Copy c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\ntdll.dll c:\windows\system32

Type "exit" to exit the Recovery Console and restart your computer.

  • Update on power supply for Dell Dimension 4600

I searched in the nets, but was not able to find an answer, so I hope someone can help.

I received recently a 4600 as a hand.  I decided to set up as a game machine.  I know it's an old PC, but I do not anticipate play something newer than Battlefield 2142 (I use my Xbox 360 to play newer games).

In any case, I was able to get a new Radeon X 1950 PRO on eBay for $35 shipped to replace a 6600GTOC whose fan has stopped working.  I thought that since I was the video card for a good price, upgrading the PSU still would be worth during the upgrade of the motherboard or get a new PC.

I started to look at the power supplies and noticed that some of them have their own power switch.  This means that the power button on the front of the 4600 no longer works?  I would go with a power supply where can I still use the power button and should not spread in the back to turn on the PC.

BTW, here's the rest of the features of the 4600:

CPU: Pentium 4 HT 3.06 GHz (Northwood) - HT disabled

    RAM: 3 GB PC3200

    Readers: A WD 320 IDE, a DVD-ROM and floppy 3.5 "drive

No other expansion boards outside the video card will be installed.

Thanks in advance for any help.

When the power supply the on/off switch, you leave in the position 'On' and use the power button on the front of the computer.

The Dimension 4600 has an open back panel, you can use most of the generic ATX PSU, with or without the market/on-off switch and with either a 20-PIN or 20 + connector 4-pin main motherboard.

You should be able to buy food from the local computer stores.

  • Dell Dimension 4600 with pack 1 XP does not connect to the cable modem

Hello, I have a Dell Dimension 4600 older XP. The hard drive is dead and I replaced and then reloaded pack 1 with the intention of making all the revisions on the internet. The problem is that I cannot now connect to the internet via my broadband router directly connected to the computer. It seems that the wizard to connect only wants to use the dial upward and does not connect to the router. Just recompose. It seems to ignore the connection from the router to broadband and wants to use the dial upward only.

Go to control panel of control/Internet options/connections, then set it - never establish a connection - then click on apply.

  • I can add memory to a Dimension 4600 series computer and how would I do?

I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 XP.  Have 512 MB of memory with 2.8 GHz processor.

    What would be the cost?

Although Microsoft recommends 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM (32-bit Windows 7) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit Windows 7), this is not the only requirement.

Before go you too far, download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to determine if the rest of the material is sufficient.

Regarding the RAM, your Dell Dimension 4600 can support up to 4 GB of RAM.  It has 4 slots, so until you know how much RAM to buy, you need to know more in detail what you have.

For example, if your current 512 MB is only one 512 MB module in a slot, you could buy a second module of 512 MB, for a total of 1 GB or 3 512 MB modules for a total of 4 GB.

More likely, however, is that your current 512 MB includes 2 modules of 256 MB (or even 4 modules of 128 MB).

The best place to start is here--> http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Dimension%204600&Cat=SSD

If instead, you download and run the Crucial scanner tool, you will get to a page, similar to above but who also shows what you have and then customizes offers accordingly.

  • Problem activating Windows XP Pro on a Dell Dimension 4600, which originally had XP Home

I have some difficulty to activate MY PERSONALLY PURCHASED VERSION of Windows XP Pro on a Dell Dimension 4600 workstation that initially provided with XP Home.  I have TWO Codes of 25 character key true = 1 The printed on the sticker on the computer AND the one supplied with the disk I bought for my laptop that was stolen last week.  I entered two key during the windows process codes activate and they the system tells me invalid or incorrect product key code.  I WAS talking with a Microsoft Tech Rep on the phone trying to solve this problem and has been disconnected when put on "Hold" and now cannot get through to a real person again.  CAN SOMEONE ' ONE/SOMEONE' HELP ME PLEASE?

    Hello

Both your XP, the laptop and the Dell operating systems will have been oem licenses. OEM licenses are tied to the computer that they were originally installed on. In regards to the Pro license you can see in your report where is says Windows license Type: OEM System Builder.

The only XP version that can be legally charged to your Dimension is one that has been provided with it by Dell, i.e. the XP Home license.

activation of character for home 25 codes do not work with the Pro, the reverse is also true.

See the response of Daave, but also to note the following two points:

    1. you started with 512 MB. The amount of RAM you need for good
performance is not a unique situation for all. You get the right
performance, if the amount of RAM you have prevents you from using the
page file significantly, and this depends on what applications you are running. Most
are people who run a typical range of business under XP applications
somewhere around 512 MB work well, others need more. Almost
everyone will see poor performance with less than 256 MB. Some people,
especially those making things like the large photographic edition
images, can see a performance gain by adding even more of
    512MB - sometimes much more.

Unless you have special needs, so it is likely that the 512 MB you
started with was enough for you.

    2. you say "he had got painfully slow." This implies that the
performance was OK, but it had worsened. This reinforces that
I said in point 1 above. You don't need more memory simply because that
    time has elapsed.

There are several possibilities for why he had obtained more slow, but the
more likely is that you have been infected by malicious software. What
anti-virus and anti-spyware programs that you are running? They remain until
    Date?

    (1) extract the files from the link above

    (2) go to the Device Manager

    (3) right click on the sound card with drivers and select update drivers missing

    (4) find the drivers in the folder named "Creative SB Live! Series (WDM).

    (5) given that these were built for XP or 2000, you must ignore the warning messages.

The Dimension 4600 supports up to 4 GB (4 x 1 GB modules) RAM DDR, but can only send 3 gb - + of it due to the 32-bit operating system:

  • Replacement of a Dimension 4600 graphics card

Hi all, posted about this before. Modernised at the origin of a Geforce 5200 to a 7950GT AGP. It worked very well and perfectly played out 1080 p h.264 content. However, the fan had failed then it overheats very quickly and there not also support the acceleration hardware flash (didn't know at the time) so Youtube still stuttered HD videos.

I'm back card seller on Ebay for a refund. I have my eye on a Radeon HD 4670 ATM that supports hardware acceleration of flash. Still looking around for other 4600 users who have this card and find this slightly disturbing thread where his PC had no display and the 'expert' responded saying: DDR3 memory cards are not supported. This does not seem right for me as a card VRAM has nothing to do with the RAM System.

I wanted to just make sure I'm not about to buy something that does not work in my system.

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all, I tried to send this last night but received a message on my post approval by moderator? Not yet been approved but seen other people have posted with success more recently. Do not know what is happening.

In any case, put his hand on a 3.4 Ghz HT P4 Northwood 512 Kb 800 Mhz FSB for £10 on Ebay to upgrade my mother enough old Dimension 4600 which has a 2.8 Ghz P4 512 KB 533 FSB inside... However, when I install it the computer does not light and shows just a light amber. The readers and fans still spin but there is no display. The computer works normally when I put the old one back in.

I think somehow it is a power supply problem as the new processor uses 20w more energy than the old 2.8 Ghz one. Someone at - it ideas? Just trying to figure if I bought a bad CPU, so I can return.

    Andrew,

It is not a power supply problem, it's incompatible, or a bad processor problem.

The first models of 4600 will take up to 3.0 GHz and models later, 3.2 GHz to 3.4 GHz, but this does not offer much of a sudden boost on the 3.0 GHz

Motherboard Dell P/N F4491 will support up to 3.4 Ghz Northwood leaving Prescott

  • Can I put Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 4600?

    Hello

I have a 6 years old Dell Dimension 4600 PC with the following specifications:

    • Processor Pentium 4 3.0Ghz
    • 1 GB OF RAM
    • nVidia Geforce FX5200 128 MB graphics card
    • Windows XP Home Edition
I expect to make a custom on this old PC Setup, but my problems are with the drivers.
I recently used the special Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which tells me that I meet all of the minimum requirements, and of course programs such as Outlook Express will not available on Windows 7.
In the middle of this report is a link to the Dell (Windows 7 section) website where they tell me to go learn more about compatibility. When I do click on this site and then click on hardware compatibility, it brings me to the next page: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/dsn/en/document?c=uk&docid=360683&l=en&s=gen
The page says there is apparently only ONE socket support Dell Dimension model which can be improved on the range Dimension, covering a good 30-50 models. I'm sure that this is due to support driver from Dell, which is absolutely horrendous. The drivers on the site range Dell Web from 2004 to 2007 (for the only critical updates), for my model. The only OS supported on the site it is XP. Research on the Web sites of manufacturers of drivers, I find that the newer drivers are available for my hardware, more compatible with Vista. Do I have the old OEM from Dell specific drivers or the drivers provided by manufacturers! Can I REALLY move to Windows 7! Dell said it is not supported (and is fast enough to give me a link telling me to buy a new PC), but I have friends who have installed on other Dimensions of Dell old where it worked a treat. I don't want to lose £70 on a BONE that may not work and may leave me without a usable PC!
    What should I do!

    Hi Fred

Not taken in charge and is not possible are 2 different things.

How you proceed depends on how comfortable you are troubleshooting. It is very likely that you will end up you are looking for a few drivers for hardware on the sites of manufacturers or possibly replace certain hardware devices that are simply too old to work.

Windows 7 includes many of the compatibility of the tools that can help when you use the devices more old drivers/hardware and software troubleshooting.

If the Upgrade Advisor did not identify hard incompatible devices, I would say you should go try before the upgrade. Make sure you have all the latest drivers for the hardware installed and available on external media.

If you have any problems, come back here and start the new thread, we are here to help.

    Kind regards

  • For Dimension 4600 AGP graphics card

    Hi all

    I recently acquired an old Dimension 4600. I'll use it on the side for general use for example browsing the internet, email, etc. Nothing heavy. Its current specifications are;

    Intel Pentium 4 Northwood 2.8GHz 512 Kb 533FSB

    4 GB RAM PC3200

NVIDIA Geforce 5200 128 MB AGP

Windows XP Professional 32-bit (can install Win 7)

I would go on a little adventure upgrade that I find it rewarding and it gives me experience in hardware components.

For now, I can't play videos from YouTube above 480 p as a bottleneck by the graphics card. I think I can get my hands on a Nvidia Geforce 7950GT 512 MB AGP for about £20. This is the fastest Nvidia card for the AGP slot.

Is - this work on a 4600 and allow the best YouTube video playback? The P4 would then become the bottleneck? I think I will also replace the power supply. A model of 400w would suffice?

In addition, an SSD on the old interface SATA 1.5 would be an improvement on the current IDE HDD? Of course, I won't sink money in old material but a SSD can be put in any latest system.

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Andrew

Do not forget that at the end of the era of the AGP, ATI made the fastest AGP cards.  I have a Dimension 4550 discount.  I made a point to get the fastest AGP card ever made for her - an ATI Radeon HD 3850 512 MB AGP.  It is a huge map, IIRC and barely enter the 4550.  Unfortunately, I don't remember how various time graphics cards would process the video.  But the 3850 AGP was the best, there wasn't, at least for the games.  IIRC, same card ATI X 1950 Pro and X 1650 Pro were faster than the fastest Nvidia cards.  (I'm not a fan dedicated ATI or Nvidia - all my current cards are Nvidia, because right now they are the best).

Hope this works, an SSD would you give an improvement in the overall responsiveness, due to its fast seek times, which is especially important for smaller files.  Not sure how much improvement, though.  Good point, it's that an SSD can be used in the most recent machines as well.
