Dimension B110

Hi all

I have a Dimension B110, which, from a physical aspect, is pretty much intact, apart from the HARD drive that somehow came loose. I am trying to buy a power cord a vga connection to see if it works in period.

Anyone would be able to tell me if I would be able to use only the case to build a new PC? I don't mind spending money on a new motherboard or other devices. I'm studying for the comptia a + reviews and thought it would be a good way to practice.

Thank you

There are a number of issues that you will face, starting with the wiring of the beam of the Panel owner front of the system, which will not work with anything other than a Dell OEM Board.  The next will be about anything inside the system is usable for the construction of a new PC - the hard drive is the old PATA interface and you will find not so if all that is going to take this type of disc now - memory is obsolete, and you'll need a new processor (no new Council will have a CPU that old).  Keyboard, mouse and monitor are essentially on the recoverable items only in the system.

If you really want to build a new system for the experience, these three parties - the rest reuse, recycle.

  • instructions for battery replacement dell dimension b110 say record all screens..., what the hell this means?

Note sumthin cloth installation, stick in a disc. Why not just do a normal shutdown down to turn off that saves the data, then disconnect all accessories safely, unplug the power cord, then don't act carefully then launch the gal old return. ? Please excuse the runon sentence. Thanks to the speakers!

Because the Dell Dimension B110 is a desktop computer, the battery in question must be the BIOS battery (aka battery CMOS or RTC battery).  In older computers, these batteries are used to maintain the system BIOS settings.  When you remove the battery, the parameters disappear... that's why the manual said to write information.

When you turn off the computer, the data that have been written on the hard disk are kept.  Data from the BIOS are not on the hard disk.  It is stored in a chip (usually using CMOS technology, this is why we sometimes talk about the CMOS battery).  This chip must be powered continuously in order to keep the information.  When the computer is unplugged, the energy is provided by the battery.  It doesn't use much, so even the can of typical small used button cell batteries last for years.

  • Dell Dimension B110 system restore: the two were leaving

I'm helping a friend who wants to restore its Dimension B110 provided the factory. The hard drive seems to come from the factory with three partitions:

    1. C: disc with Windows XP and all apps, My Documents, etc. The main partition.
    2. D: labeled as "Backup". There especially space empty, and restore the hidden files "ghost".
    3. The hidden partition that contains all the files to restore.

My friend has more than 15 GB of photos, music, etc. on C:, and due to the harsh system, corruption, is unable to burn the files to CD Rom drives We have, however, managed to copy successfully all his documents from C: to D:

My question is this: if restore us the computer to factory (ctrl + F11) conditions, will be the drive D: be wiped or will remain intact files that I placed there care?

  • Dell Dimension B110

    Hi all

First time posting a question in these forums, I recently received a Dell B110 from a colleague who seems intact inside, apart from the HARD disc detaches from its place of origin. Unfortunetely, my colleague was not the original power cord. Anyone would be able to tell me what type of power cord, I need to buy, even if I have an idea of what type it is, I'd rather be 100% sure and no risk of damaging the computer (if it works yet of course). My ultimate goal is to either rebuild a new computer or upgrade of some of its components, I'm trying to achieve a Comptia certification has + and thought it would be a good starting point.

Also, can someone tell me if and how I would be able to display its information on a LED TV because at the moment, I'm trying to avoid buying a monitor.

    Thank you

    Wilmer

The Dimension 1100 / B110 has a standard cord that use other computers.

NEMA also use it 5/15 standard monitors. The only question would be not in the USA, you may need to change the 110 / 220 switch on the power supply.

It only comes with the standard analog VGA, so if your TV has no vga you won't get a computer for 14 years working on an LED TV.

  • Dimension B110 does not recognize a new DVD burner

    Two years old B110 came with only a CD - RW (TSST). You just bought a new Philips 20 x SPD2413BDDVD - RW with DVD-RAM 12 x.

I set the jumper slave and installed. He ran, but the sound was very agitated. I ran the Dell store and discovered that they use the Cable Select for optical drives.

I changed the setting to CSEL, and he did not recognize the drive. I checked the BIOS settings and all discover the second IDE auto. Now it shows DRIVE UNKNOWN. Updated to the latest version of the BIOS, no change. Windows Explorer does not see the disk; Plug-and-Play finds him or the other.

Tried to erase the NVRAM, checked to make sure that DMA is selected and tried to connect this drive only. Computer still does not see it. Any ideas?

    Thanks, man NRG

  • Dell Dimension B110: Memory upgrade problem

I have problems with my upgrade memory. I bought a few 1GBX2 2 GB of memory, and I know that my computer can take because I had done the research before I bought the memory. But with I put memory he doesn't recognize her, it's like id I have no memory what so ever in the machine. I was wondering if there was something that I'm supposed to do or change to get the ram to read. It takes PC-3200 RAM type.

And another thing... I have 512 MB of RAM, but he acknowledges as 504 MB of RAM... Any reason why it's like that?

    Specifications of the computer:

    Microsoft Windows XP

Is there way to sny to work around this problem CAN NOT RESTORE... this computer wouldn't wonderful computer beginers for my cousin. and then, we could communicate through the computer and play cribbage------... Thanks Tuluchee

    Hi tuluchee,

For step by step instructions on how to restore your dimension B110 dell to factory settings, see the link below.

    http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/DSN/en/document?journalid=6A181FF0D23FF776E040AE0AB6E10C4E&docid=336966

Note: You can print this before going ahead and make sure you have your product key, written down, just in case you are prompted to do so. Also, make sure that you remove all devices (printer, scanner, drive external HARD... etc.) except for the keyboard and mouse and hold down the 'ctrl key' and pressing f11 should come after the dell screen appears and before the windows screen. If you miss the first opportunity, leave the system completely restart, restart your computer and try again.

Good luck and let us know if this helped.

  • CD/dvd rom drive e in my computer folder is empty

I have Windows XP SP3, Dell Dimension B110 desktop. In my computer, the folder for CD/DVD Rom (E) is present, but it is empty. My CD drawer will not open and I cannot insert a CD. I followed the suggestions here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-hardware/dvdcd-rom-missingdisappeared/eebe1df9-0055-42b5-8158-22eb1a94a69e?auth=1 but it has not produced a solution. I have Microsoft Fix It ran several times and several other suggestions troubleshooting unresolved. An article said the cables may have been loose and need to be reinstalled, but did not make sense for how to do this. I was struggling with this problem for a long time, try a suggestion/convenience store after another and so far nothing has worked. Can someone help me get this resolved? Any help is appreciated.

OK let open the CD tray, then you can put a CD and post back with the problems you have.

Open my computer, if your CD-ROM drive is listed, right click and click on eject.

No or Eject not to answer, take a paper clip, unfold and insert it into the small hole in the face of your drawer, push inside until the opening of the drawer.

    After the return.

  • Need to format and reinstall Windows XP but do not have a disc

    Help! I NEED FORMAT!

Please READ THIS! I have a Windows XP, x 86 (x 64) Dell Dimension B110 and need to format it. I have NO DISC! I want to continue to use it I just need to delete it if I can solve my problem! Please tell me how!

According to the Dell support page, a lot of computers Dell Dimension have a recovery partition which can restore your computer to the State "as purchased".  Reference Dell calls this "PC Restore".  After you have created a backup of your data, you start this by pressing Ctrl + F11 when the Dell splash screen appears at startup.  Full instructions are here:

  • CPU usage always 100% after installing Vista SP2

    Hello

I am currently running A Dell Dimension B110 with 1 GB RAM 256 mb nvidia geforce 6200 (pci), 2.6 ghz celron D and Windows Vista Home Basic SP1.  It works nice and fast.

That is until I have install SP2.  Then the CPU usage is always 100% when running anything (with the exception of the Windows Explorer), and the pc is running very slowly.  To solve the problem, I went back down to SP1 and everything goes quickly again.

A few weeks later, I tried again and the same result.  So I returned again back to SP1.

For future software versions, I need SP2.  Does anyone have advice and/or corrections to this problem?

    Thanks in advance
