Dell Dimension B110

Hi all

First time posting a question in these forums, I recently received a Dell B110 from a colleague who seems intact inside, apart from the HARD disc detaches from its place of origin. Unfortunetely, my colleague was not the original power cord. Anyone would be able to tell me what type of power cord, I need to buy, even if I have an idea of what type it is, I'd rather be 100% sure and no risk of damaging the computer (if it works yet of course). My ultimate goal is to either rebuild a new computer or upgrade of some of its components, I'm trying to achieve a Comptia certification has + and thought it would be a good starting point.

Also, can someone tell me if and how I would be able to display its information on a LED TV because at the moment, I'm trying to avoid buying a monitor.

Thank you

Wilmer

The Dimension 1100 / B110 has a standard cord that use other computers.

NEMA also use it 5/15 standard monitors. The only question would be not in the USA, you may need to change the 110 / 220 switch on the power supply.

It only comes with the standard analog VGA, so if your TV has no vga you won't get a computer for 14 years working on an LED TV.

Note sumthin cloth installation, stick in a disc. Why not just do a normal shutdown down to turn off that saves the data, then disconnect all accessories safely, unplug the power cord, then don't act carefully then launch the gal old return. ? Please excuse the runon sentence. Thanks to the speakers!

Because the Dell Dimension B110 is a desktop computer, the battery in question must be the BIOS battery (aka battery CMOS or RTC battery).  In older computers, these batteries are used to maintain the system BIOS settings.  When you remove the battery, the parameters disappear... that's why the manual said to write information.

When you turn off the computer, the data that have been written on the hard disk are kept.  Data from the BIOS are not on the hard disk.  It is stored in a chip (usually using CMOS technology, this is why we sometimes talk about the CMOS battery).  This chip must be powered continuously in order to keep the information.  When the computer is unplugged, the energy is provided by the battery.  It doesn't use much, so even the can of typical small used button cell batteries last for years.

  • Dimension B110

    Hi all

I have a Dimension B110, which, from a physical aspect, is pretty much intact, apart from the HARD drive that somehow came loose. I am trying to buy a power cord a vga connection to see if it works in period.

Anyone would be able to tell me if I would be able to use only the case to build a new PC? I don't mind spending money on a new motherboard or other devices. I'm studying for the comptia a + reviews and thought it would be a good way to practice.

    Thank you

There are a number of issues that you will face, starting with the wiring of the beam of the Panel owner front of the system, which will not work with anything other than a Dell OEM Board.  The next will be about anything inside the system is usable for the construction of a new PC - the hard drive is the old PATA interface and you will find not so if all that is going to take this type of disc now - memory is obsolete, and you'll need a new processor (no new Council will have a CPU that old).  Keyboard, mouse and monitor are essentially on the recoverable items only in the system.

If you really want to build a new system for the experience, these three parties - the rest reuse, recycle.

  • New HP 2011 x 20 '' LED monitor for old Dell Dimension 2400. necessary graphics card?

My in-laws have an old Dell Dimension 2400 and the monitor exploded. I bought a new HP 2011 x 20 '' LED monitor. My WIRE went to set up, and he tells her that a HMDI graphics card is required.

This is a pretty old computer. I think he might have as... 512 MB of RAM. Is there an inexpensive graphics card that will meet their needs?

And besides, when they buy the graphics card, are there all the cables that they must reach a new monitor to an old computer?

    Thank you very much!

    Nice description of Dell:
Video connector to 15 holes :-)

Seems to be a VGA connector.

From the description of the monitor:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02643130
There is an also vga connector, so you will have no problem to connect the two.

No additional card is necessary, no other cable - just use the old vga cable.

Your only problem might be the resolution:
resolution 1600 x 900 set at the factory for the monitor.

I don't know if you can set the resolution to Dell, you should test.

Otherwise a 4:3 normal/old monitor would be better than this 'big screen' new.

  • How can I change the cmos battery in my Dell Dimension 8300

How can I change the cmos battery in my Dell Dimension 8300?

    Thank you

    Clark

Easy!  As long as you have a few minutes and the right replacement battery ready to go.  Just follow these few simple steps.
    1. Unplug the power cord.
    2. Tour of Lapointe on the right side.
    3. Remove the left panel - probably remove the screws at the back.
    4. Identify the CMOS battery on the motherboard.
    5. Press the metal tab to release the battery.
    6. Check the model number on the battery, make sure you have the same replacement.
    7. Install the new battery, reinstall the side panel, standing Tower and plug the power supply cord.
    8. Start the system and immediately get into the BIOS (CMOS Setup) and correct the date/time and other parameters.
    I hope this helps!
  • Dell Dimension 2400 will not meet the key USB WIFI Netgear

    Dell Dimension 2400 Windows XP.

Trying to get my old Dell back in action, but I ran into a problem. NO INTERNET.

I have the WIFI in my house but I can't connect wirelessly with the desktop computer.

I have a NetGear Wireless - N Dual Band, but dell WNDA3100 USB won't pick it up. The flash player is on, but it will not install the new software. It is said there was a problem and it probably won't work correctly.

    Any ideas? Thank you!

first go to the device driver and uninstall everything dealing with netgear.

also if it is listed in Add/Remove to uninstall and restart.

    https://www.Google.com/#q=NETGEAR+Wireless+n+dual+band+WNDA3100+USB+XP+installation+guide+and+software

above is a search page with instructions for installing xp

you have version 1 or 2?

just a thought you have wireless zero config service started/automatic services?

After all your updates should be installed which will disable the autorun, so that when you insert a usb key, nothing will happen until you go to my computer and click on the device to open it, this was done so that you would have a chance to scan a usb usb being one of the fastest ways to spread a virus If she had previously plugged into an infected pc.

  • Upgrading RAM Dell Dimension 4700

    Hi all

OK I will try once again to this type. The first time I tried to type this my Surface frozen without reason and had to be properly closed. OK, I'll update the RAM on my Dell Dimension 4700 and I need help and advice before I do. My Dell says it has 0.99 GB of RAM installed. I looked inside and found that there are two sticks of 512 MB of RAM. I found (2 sticks of 1 GB) 2GB of RAM for Dell Dimension 4700 at amazon.com and intend to purchase that. So when I update the RAM I get two sticks of 512 MB and replaced with new 2 sticks of 1 GB from amazon? Are there precautions should I take? (In addition to wear an anti-static wristband) Thank you.

Before you buy, go to http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/systemscanner

Download and run the Crucial scanner.  This will tell you:

    • supports memory of how many are in your computer
    • How much memory is in each
    • the maximum memory that can be installed on your computer and how
    • the right kind of RAM in your computer

Do not buy crucial, but pay attention to what the scanner says that you need.

In short, if you have only two supports from memory, then Yes, you need to remove the memory that is in them to put in new RAM.  However, just because you can buy two memory modules of 1 GB does not necessarily that your motherboard will accept them.

    When replacing memory.

    See http://www.crucial.com/wcsstore/CrucialSAS/pdf/install-guides/ram/crucial-dram-install-guide-en.pdf

    • take precautions against static - touch the chassis first; do not touch the contacts of the RAM modules
    • Unlock the pliers and pull it up
    • Orient the new module properly - there is usually only one way correct to put in - and push straight down firmly, but without wavering until closing locks.
  • Dell Dimension 4600 with pack 1 XP does not connect to the cable modem

Hello, I have a Dell Dimension 4600 older XP. The hard drive is dead and I replaced and then reloaded pack 1 with the intention of making all the revisions on the internet. The problem is that I cannot now connect to the internet via my broadband router directly connected to the computer. It seems that the wizard to connect only wants to use the dial upward and does not connect to the router. Just recompose. It seems to ignore the connection from the router to broadband and wants to use the dial upward only.

Go to control panel of control/Internet options/connections, then set it - never establish a connection - then click on apply.

  • How can I add an extra internal hard drive to my dell dimension 8300

I installed an extra internal hard drive to my dell dimension 8300. He only appears in "Device Manager" and shows to work but he does not appear in 'my computer' and has not assigned a drive letter. It's a western digital 1200js-22mhbo. My drive root 'C' is also a wd1200jd from western digital. Can someone tell me what I do to get it to show up with a drive letter, and I have to format it? Also, there is a way to format so I can install programs on it as my "C" drive or I just will be only able to use it as extra storage? Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hello

    • Click Start
    • Click on run
    • Type diskmgmt.msc and press enter
    • You will be prompted to initialize your new drive, move (drag) the message on one side, so that you can see the disk management window in its entirety and make sure your new drive is the disk that should initialize
    • Click on the button next wizard
    • Make sure that your new hard drive is selected (boot disks), and then click the next button
    • Make sure that your new hard drive is not selected (the disks to be converted), and then click the next button
    • Click on the Finish button
    • In disk management, right-click the unallocated space on your new drive and then click New Partition...
    • Make sure that the primary partition is selected and click on the next button
    • Leave the default partition size (all your new drive), and then click the next button
    • If you do not want the suggested default change drive you want allocated letter and click the next button
    • Change the volume name if you want but leave the rest of the information as the default and click the next button
    • Click on finish

Disk management will make formatting your hard drive and displays its progress in percentage. When it's over your disk will be ready to use.

If you want to install programs on this disc you could make custom installations and select : \Program Files instead of the default of C:\Program Files. Some installers do not have this option.

You can move your documents on this disc folder, if you want to see...
