• How to trace changes in Dimension Metadata

  Hi all

  I wonder what the best approach is to check the dimension metadata changes,

  I need to run the update on very large dimensions of planning, and I want to trace about the change

  After I have update the cube and see which members have been added/moved etc.

  I know that I can use smart view quries but I'm little tworrie miss this way changes

  I think to export pattern dim in a table before the update

  and then run the update and export the new Sun update again to another table

  ultimately, I have two tables before and after, and I will be able to run a query to trigger the differences

  What do you think it'll work?

  Audit information will be written to the relational database HSP_AUDIT_RECORDS table.

  You will need some kind of tool to see for example SQL Developer, SQL Server Management Studio, Excel using ODBC connection.

  If you get stuck, add a dummy in the planning, and then use the utility to export the metadata to a file, then you have the right format.

• Share Dimension on application/database

  I wonder if it is possible to share the dimension between applications or databases. For example, I have two applications/cubes, using the same account dimension, is it possible in essbase we can share that a size of account, rather than re - create again in the cube?

  ^ ^ ^ By comment by Jasmine, EPMA is closest to share (I suppose you could argue it's really close perfectly do) a dimension, but there are a few other options, even if they do not require a build step. I mention this in case other features of EPMA are not desirable and Yes, this does not really sharing criteria, but they all feature a central location and dimension metadata management:
  (1) SQL table / flat file size rule charge two dbs.
  (2) Director of the data with output relations in next #1
  (3) Essbase Integration Server (EIS) created dbs, using a star schema common
  (4) Essbase Studio created dbs, using a star schema common

• ODI - SQL for Hyperion Essbase data loading

  We have created a 'vision' in SQL Server that contains our data.  The view currently has every year and periods of Jan 2011 to present.  Each period is about 300 000 records.  I want to only load one period at a time.  For example may 2013.  Currently we use ODBC through a rule of data loading, but the customer wants to use ODI to be compatible with the versions of dimension metadata.  Here's the SQL on the view that works very well.   Is there a way I can run this SQL in the ODI Interface so it pulls only what I declare in the Where clause?  If yes where can I do it?

  Simply use the following KM to load data - IKM SQL for Hyperion Essbase (DATA) - in an ODI interface that has the view that you created the Source model. You can add filters to the source which are dynamically by ODI variables to create the Where clause based on the month and year. Make sure you only specify a rule of load method to load the data into the KM

• Cannot enter numeric values in the Smartview 9.3.1.5 Options

  I have a user using Excel 2007 and Smartview 9.3.1.5.
  
  In the options of smartview, on the view tab, there is a box "#NoData/Missing Label. In older versions of smartview, we were able to enter a 0 in this area. However, this version will not let us a numeric value. As a work-around, I went into the registry and change the value to 0, but if the user opens the options screen smartview will remove this parameter. Clues on how to fix this permenantly?

  To display a zero digital instead an error message, you can enter #NumericZero in one of the three fields of alternative text. When you use the #NumericZero option:

• Bridge 6.2.0.179 does not display the dimensions of the PNG files in the metadata Panel - and can't get off.

  After the upgrade to the last bridge, the metadata panel displays is no longer the width and height of a PNG image. It still works for other types of files, such as jpg.

  I have to use Explorer to get the dimensions for a bunch of PNG. Very inconvenient. I wanted to downgrade the last bridge, but it seems that it is no longer available.

  I tried to completely uninstall the CC (and pref.) and reinstall. No joy.

  Just updated bridge this morning (6.3.0.177) and happy to say on my system (OS X El Capitan 10.11.6) that the dimensions of the png is now displayed after several months of not having at their disposal!

• Windows 7 Advanced Search - "dimensions: 128 x 128' does not.

  I'm trying to filter a folder for images with dimensions of 128 x 128 pixels, but can not get windows 7 to filter by dimensions.

  In the search box, if I type in "dimensions: 128 x 128" I never get any results. It is relatively easy to change it to "height: 128 width: 128" but why it does not work as it should with dimensions?

  As I'm typing in "dimensions: 128 x 128", things seem to go well, the search begins to fill as I type the first 128 but as soon as I hit the 'x', all elements, it is filtered just disappear and do not return.

  Is this a problem with my machine or is this another Windows broken search 'features '?

  Put a space between the number and the x for example 128 x 128

  I tested on windows 7 using a property of an image file meta data. You can check the metadata by right click, choose Properties and clicking the Details tab.

  You must use the same method to load the members that you already use in EPMA, if it's a pure Essbase applications and metadata should be loaded for EPMA and not through the Regional service.

  If you already have applications of EPMA, then you would use the same method.

• Updated metadata to ASO

  Gurus,

  We have built a standalone ASO cube. We are finalizing the process of updating the metadata for the cube. The excerpts we receive DRM contain all of the hierarchy for each dimension, so we will not only make the changes, but update the entire hierarchy of the dimensions. This cube is complex and much shared members in 2 dimensions. What would be the best approach for the update of metadata?

  1. update the main cube OR by creating a cube temp and then by copying this sketch to the main cube.

  2. If we change the outline of maincube in each update of metadata, what would be the impact on the data in this cube?

  3. we'll certainly take backups via Maxl when he is executed, but do we need to import the exported data after each update of metadata?

  1. I wouldn't do it this way. Update the plan itself (vs restructuring of the cube) is not usually a lot of time, so this does not really vs downtime rebuild the contour "in place".

  2. unless your version of Essbase is System 9, that I guess that's not, the cube will restructure well with 'delete not determined' in the State of charge (which is what you do if you want to rebuild the entire dimension) and keep the data. All existing data of level 0 will be fine, unless you actually remove members of level 0 in the DRM source hierarchy. In this case, the data for the deleted members will be lost (as you can probably guess).

  3 backups are always good. But there should be no need to re - import the data.

  I update the metadata in HFM application. Version - 11.1.2.3 Classic application. I extracted the HFM workspace metadata and update dimension members by using the HFM desktop client.

  What will be the impact on the data if I'm changing the hierarchy in the app metadata file (I'm not remove all members.) Just create new members and change the hierarchy of existing members)? It erases data from HFM applications after loading the metadata file updated through the workspace?

  Hello. Your level of database will not be affected if you do not remove members at the basic level. For members of parent, if you change the descendants, it depends. If account or custom dimensions, everything is recalculated in the memory as requested, so the change is retroactive. For entities, it depends on if you help org by period and/or parent entities of locking. If one or both of those, entity hierarchy changes generally will not be affected. If you do not either of them, the hierarchy is affected, but you will need to rebind the data in order for the changes to be aggregated.

  It varies depending on the size. The following applies to the account, entity and scenario dimensions:

  appname_dimension_DESC: contains descriptions

  appname_dimension_ITEM: contains most of the attributes

  appname_dimension_LAYOUT: contains the hierarchies (parent-child relationships and order)

  Even for currencies except there is no layout table.

  The size of the value does not exist in any table. It is a dimension derived based on the currency item ID to which is added an index number, which gives the corresponding members of the value. This is not documented anywhere I know.

  Custom dimensions in 11.1.2.2 and later have been combined into a single table. I have yet to understand the relationship between the lCustom1 and the lCustom2 fields in the data tables and the table CUSTOM_ITEM. It is coded in some way.

  ICP is a derived dimension. The table contains only the members of the system to three hooks, while the rest of the dimension of PKI is based on the IsICP attribute in the entity dimension.

  View, year and period are not in any table.

  AppSettings are in the appname_BINARYFILES table, which is coded in XML format.

  As a general rule underlying relational database of HFM was not designed for direct user interaction. You can decode some of them, but I suggest that you evaluate your use case to access directly rather than interact with it from within the application itself.
