DISABLE PS/2 DEVICES IN THE BIOS

Is it possible to go into the BIOS and disable the PS/2 Ports for keyboard and mouse. I use USB connection for these devices and Device Manager is showing the exclamation points under see hidden devices. I tried uninstalling and deleting, but they keep coming back; Therefore, I need to go into BIOS and disable both Ports; This being the Port of mouse PS/2 and the keyboard PS/2 Port?

BIOS is 786 7 Version 1.13

Thank you

Device Manager displays just one (!) when PS2 is not connected, but should not harm the machine function.  No need to play with him.

    Hello

I have question for WMI, how to disable a specific device in the boot list? I found "BootODD" "BootFDD" etc. in the documentation, but I have no idea how to use. And here my question.

    Documentation:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB3803HR0000R01_TOSHIBA_BIOS_WMI_Interface_Guide_-_13_Rev_1.1.PDF

Do you know that pdf is a guide for authors of vb script?
I don't think running a script against the BIOS is a good way to learn.

In any case, here is a link to download Microsoft Scriptomatic which is a very good place to learn [http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=12028]

Also, try a search for examples of WMI scripts there necessarily one who does your job.

  • Can E540 - I disable discrete gpu (Optimus) from the BIOS?

    Hello.

I think with the purchase of a Thinkpad E540 with a gpu discrete nvidia.

I intend to install linux on it and I really need optimus for him (nor is it well supported), but sometimes I'd like to be able to use it under windows.

I would like to know if it is possible to completely disable the gpu nvidia from the BIOS so that it only works with the intel integrated an or should I buy one with gpu intel only.

I read that the lenovo changed the implementation of bi - gpu on the newer generation thinkpads.

I did some research but I couldn't know exactly what are the BIOS options; most of the results are on older laptops of gen.

If any owner of this specific model could anwser would be great

Please attach a screenshot of the settings of the bios if possible.

    Thank you.

When you switch to discrete nvidia fits in the lowest power state, basically it is turned off. It will not be displayed in the Device Manager.

  • "No boot device" after the BIOS doesn't load the Satellite L50 - B - 25 c

A friend who bought this laptop came up to me, explaining that he does not have to install an operating system. Then I tried it myself. I dusted off my original windows 7 pro 32 bit cd he jumped into the tray to cd and tried to boot from the cd by using the boot menu and bios boot order. the operation failed and even through I have cd was recognized by the bios the laptop not returned "no bootable device - restart device" error. So I tried to boot from usb NSB each usb port. The same unsuccessful result that happened. I then tried a USB bootable win7 64 bit and also failed.

Anyone have any ideas why the laptop is not booting? Could there be a part that is DOA? What is a bios problem? Council of State, I think to Flash the bios.

This laptop is brand new and never had anything installed on it.

    Thanks for the help!

If you want to downgrade from the Win7 machine, you must change secure boot option in the BIOS.

    You already changed option UEFI?

By the way: before installing own version checking OS, which version of Windows is supported for this machine.
Visit the download page of Toshiba on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/dow...ivers_bios.jsp and which operating system versions are fully supported with all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities.

  • Unknow new device after the bios update and to install win 7 pro to the T400

    Hi all!

My laptop: T400 2767-2JU. After the most recent update of the bios version (3.09) and own to install all the drivers in the Lenovo Site, I found an unknown device: Simple PCI communications controller. I don't think it's Thinkpad Modem, because, before updating the bios, the system does not have it.

PS: Sorry for my English . Where to post the link to the image? All the drivers are installed

I've seen it suggested that this (lists of mine such as serial Port PCI) device is Intel AMT / series on local network service.  Not useful for users and some utilities normally hides.

  • Tecra A9: Cannot enable or disable Multi Core processing in the BIOS

I have a Tecra A9 and want to swicht out of the Multi Core Processing in the Bios, but it is impossible.

To the old Bios version (1.50), it has been possible.

Now I use the most recent (2.10) and I can't move the cursor to this selection.

    The special key strokes?

If this isn't the case - where can I download the previous version of the bios where this selection is possible?

    Thank you

    Ulli

    Hello

    > Otherwise - where can I download the previous version of the bios where this selection is possible?
This is not possible because it is always the newest available BIOS can be downloaded.

With regard to the option in the BIOS.
Do you mean you are not able to choose this option or you can't change the value?

    Toshiba BIOS:
Usually the buttons PgUp / PdDn would change the BIOS page. The arrow buttons to select items. SPACE or BkSp can be used to change the values.

But note; You can only change the value if it s interchangeable. But many options appear in the BIOS but is not editable.

  • Satellite L450-188 - how to disable ACPI.sys and update the BIOS?

Hi, hoping someone can help me with a slight problem, I'll have

    I recently bought a Satellite L450-188 (number PSLY0E-03K019EN) running under Windows 7 64-bit

I use the laptop with a DJ program called Rane Serato Scratch Live, I got latency usb problems, getting usb dropouts when I try to use the program on the smallest audio buffer position (which I expect to be able to do)

When I contacted support at Serato team with my problem, they suggested that I run a program to check the time DPC on my laptop, when I presented the report to them, they said ACPI.sys was the origin of the problem and suggested that interest me to turn it off, but I wasn't too comfortable with that.

The other suggestion was to try to find updates the bios for my laptop, but I'm not too set up with that sort of thing, and I'm worried I might damage the laptop maybe installing the wrong thing.

Can someone give me advice on this topic, because I don't know what to do

    Thank you
    Jim

    Hi jimbob_1,

Normally the ACPI means Advanced Configuration and Power Interface and control options for energy savings.
So if something is wrong with the ACPI.sys file I recommend reinstall Windows using Toshiba recovery disc.
By the way: are you running pre-installed Windows version or another?

As Akuma writes that you can download the BIOS update from Toshiba Web site. http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/ > support & downloads > download drivers

Your laptop belongs to the series of PSLY0E, so you can download latest BIOS.

Before you begin the BIOS update, close all running programs and extract all the files from zip archive. You start the update as an administrator and connect the AC adapter. Also, make sure that the battery is fully charged.

  • Satellite M30: How disable the BIOS boot password?

    Hello

Before my vacation, I activated the startup password in the Bios. Now I want to turn this off, but it does not work. In the Bios, I can go to the Security tab, but I can't change the settings with the F5/F6 key or space. A beep is all I get. Entering on this point, I wonder to set a new password.

Anyone know how to disable the password for a Satellite M30? Please note that I have not forgotten my password, I can always start the machine.

    THX,

    Werner.

PS On this forum, I don't see any topic title, only the name of the authors. Is always normal? It is very convenient that way, but maybe it is related to my pc.

    Hello

I found a step by step explanation to clear a BIOS password:

"Turning on the computer from a State"off"with the ESC key. You are asked "password =". "

Enter the password, and then press ENTER. The unit will display: "the valid password is entered, the system starts up. Check the system. Press key (F1). »

Press the F1 key. This will start the device in the BIOS Setup mode.

Using the arrow keys or tab, move to the password field and select REGISTERED.

Press the SPACE bar, enter the password, and then press ENTER. For now, the password field is transformed into NON REGISTERED. »

    Hope this will help you.

  • Laptop Presario CQ62: SETTING THE BIOS TO BOOT FROM a USB STICK

I need to set the BIOS to boot from a usb key. The options in the BIOS are
    BOOT CD-ROM
    Startup disk
    Internal network card

    And in the boot order:
USB disk on key/USB hard drive
    USB CD/DVD ROM drive

    Portable hard drive

    USB floppy drive
    Internal CD/DVD drive

! Network adapter (but it says that the ability to start will be disabled if the device is marked with an exclamation point, which, in my case, it is)

A question who should I set to boot from a usb flash drive which has the operating system that you want to install Windows?

I tried boot F9 options, but it gives me two options:
    Portable hard drive
    CD/DVD drive.
No drive Flash Drive or USB in the list options.

Then he said: press F10 for BIOS Setup Options. That's why I'm trying to see what to implement as boot device in the BIOS boot options.

  • Re: Portege M400 - cannot change anything in the Bios

    I couldn't change my BIOS.
I hold down the button Esc then F1.

After I see the Bios screen, but I can't change anything.
I can only escape without and with the changes?
    No element can be changed?

    Can someone help me?

    Hello

You do not need to change the boot device in the BIOS.
You can also set it in laptop power on.
Press F12, immediately after that the laptop has been powered
Then a start menu should appear.
Here you must choose ODD as boot device and should confirm with the Enter key.

    That s it

    Hello

    > . Anyone know where in the BIOS I can disable antivirus (in windovs already do)?

AFAIK, there is no option to disable the antivirus in the Bios.

    > I want to use the system restore function after recovery report me is not complite

Read this article How do I restore the factrory of hard disk image:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=58

If you want restorefrom recovery disk, you need to set the cd/DVD-ROM under the 1st boot device.

  • Satellite P100: Multiprocessor is disabled in the BIOS v4.20

    Hello

I have just updated the bios to 4.20, after reboot, I went to the bios settings and saw that the multiprocessor (the option for the use of 2 CPUs) is disabled.

After I enabled it, the computer is very slow, and I had problems with starting the computer.

When the multiprocessor option is disabled, the computer works ok, but the Task Manager indicates that a single processor.

I had to go down to the bios to version 4.00.
I would like to know if there is another solution for this.

    Hello

In front of me, I have Satellite P100-191. I did the BIOS update to version 4.20, and in my case, Multiprosessor is undoubtedly permissible. In this case, the entry in the Device Manager shows 2 processors.

I disabled this option and the laptop runs slowly than before and in the device manager what a processor is listed.

I don't really know what is wrong in your case, but I can confirm that the Satellite P100-191 friends, everything works well.

  • Disabling a hard drive in the Device Manager make it stop spinning and using power?

If I go into DEVICE - DISK DRIVES MANAGER, then I right click on my second hard drive internal (not hand on which Windows Vista is installed, but my extra hard drive that I purchased separately and added inside my computer on a SATA port), and then click DISABLE, then can you tell me if this selected hard drive :

    1 stop rotating?

    2. always powered?

In other words, DISABLING a drive hard internal in Device Manager stops it to use the power and spinning?

The reason I ask is the following: I want to use this second hard drive only for backup, this is why I don't want to use the power and wear when I'm not a backup, in other words, almost all the time.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Well Yes and no--or it depends on the BIOS - Controller - the inner workings of the drive and
usually, they will follow this path:

A Second hard drive uses the power when not used?
    http://www.ehow.com/about_5333434_second-power-not-being-used.html

Don't forget there is a report which do not use the drive to maximize your comfort removes
most of the advantage of not to use regularly to preserve its life expectancy, which is a little questionable
anyway. If use you really only rarely, and then it does not start and stop much, then you
could have extended his life (or not). If the drive is the size, it could be put to better use
then extend his life a little reward compared to the optimization of its purpose.

Here is a recent discussion however please note there is no 'right' way and certainly there
is a roll in all methods.

    http://photo.NET/digital-darkroom-Forum/00VBXM

"Generally" things that have the most impact on life in car (assuming that no default) are "generally" heat,
so frequent starts and stops and finally use. The problem is it is almost impossible to
really effectively control the last two unless you use rarely drive. (Problems of food can
also impair a driver, especially brown outs (low power) and voltage spikes.

    I hope this helps.

  • X200T not boot from any device after updating the Bios v3.00

    Hello

I recently updated my bios to the latest version, the v3.00 X200T and now it does not start from any device - everything I get a blank screen after the initial bios starts upward.

The bios seems functional and it recognizes all the devices I attached, as well as the internal hard drive. However no matter how to start the machine it does not start. I tried to set the boot order in the bios, using F12, F11 for recovery, remove the internal HARD disk, used all the USB ports, etc... -all I get is a blank screen after the initial splash screen.

No beeps to indicate any problems, and I tried to reset the default settings of the bios, remove battery & power - all to nothing does not.

    Any ideas?

I updated the bios of many laptops and desktop computers in the past, but this is a new one on me...

    I hope someone can help.

    Darren

It seems that it also happens to X 200 owners who upgrade to version 3.01 of the Bios.

mc2sgp has posted a response in this forum that worked for me:

"I have the same problem and found the way to a temporary solution."  Go into the BIOS (you should always be able to press F1 to go into the BIOS) and go to Config-> CPU Intel VT - d characteristic of-> and disable it.  You should now be able to start normally in your operating system. "

At least, I can now start my camera.

    Hope this helps others.

    Darren

ADMIN edit: tagging this post as the solution to guide others to the bypass.  Lenovo will remove the BIOS on the web and replace it with an updated version that resolves these symptoms as quickly as possible.
