Disable STP on SG200?

I'm trying to connect a SG200 to the existing network of the customer. The customer does not want to receive the SG200 bpdu frames. The client's port has bpdu guard configured to disable the err of their port on reception of a bpdu.

How can I completely disable a tree covering the SG200 weight so that she doesn't send any BPDUS?

BPDU filter would disable send/recv ' g (treatment) of the BPDU I think.

Its the turning off of the tree equipvilant covering weight.

I have never worked on this model, but found this:

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/switches/LAN/csbss/SG200/administration_guide/78-19562.PDF

page 119 has your answer.

Edit:, Page 121 its list how to disable a tree covering weight per port.

    Hello

I have my network with 300 series switches. We work in mode layer 3 and all other switches are layer 2.

I don't have a redundant path between switches. Should I enable STP? or is not necessary?

    Thank you very much.

    Hey Ruy,

It is rare to STP cause problems. There are a few rare cases it will cause a problem but overall after active STP should not affect your network.

I would recommend double checking everything on your network before you disable STP. Just one missed cable and your whole network freezes in a broadcast storm.

  • Connectivity between two piles of Dell 2048

Hi guys, I'm very new to the configuration of the switches. We have a small office and just implement a new data room. We have 4 switches of POE Dell 2048 x stacked for VOIP and PCs phones and 2 x Dell 2048 switches stacked to our servers. I have 4 x 10 gb twinax cables to connect the two heaps as in the pic below:

What is the best way to implement these four connections? I tried to do a SHIFT of four ports in each stack, and it seemed to fall some ping until I disabled STP for the LAG group. I'm a little worried about turning off STP however. These are the only switches that are on the network. Any ideas on what the best config for this would be appreciated. Sorry, as I said I am quite new to this.

  • Connecting two 6224 separate batteries best practices LAG?

    Hello

I wonder how I should configure LAG between two powerconnect 6224 batteries (2 x powerconnect 6224 by battery) for iSCSI against 4 members EQL traffic, I intend to use the 4 ports of each stack (stack cross-possible LAG on 6224?) and equallogic documentation leaves me in two minds when it wants to run LACP or not?

I wonder what reviewed best practices in this scenario?

Cross-stack, LACP and no PLEASE or am I better of without LACP?

    Thanks in advance

    Cree

The ports connecting the two piles together will be configured differently than the ports of connection of the battery to the EQL appliance. During the connection of the control unit switch EQL is when you might want to disable STP on that specific port.

«Do not use of Spanning Tree (STP) on switch ports that connect to the terminal nodes (iSCSI initiators or storage array network interfaces).» However, if you want to use STP or Rapid STP (preferable to STP), you must enable port settings available on some switches that allow the port immediately transition to PLEASE State reference to link up. This feature can reduce network interruptions that occur when devices to restart, and should only be enabled on switch ports that connect the nodes. "

With the network cards on the EQL devices according to me, there is only one active port, and the other is pending. So on the switch ports that are plug on the EQL will be in access mode for your iSCSI VLANS. Maybe someone more about EQL can chime to confirm.

  • VLAN-RV220W - help needed

    Hello

I'm having a problem with a new vlan on this router. The router uses the default firmware 1.0.0.26 because I can't use 1.0.1.0 because we have a DSL connection that requires PPPoE.

Vlan1 is for our work and our SBS PC which acts also as the DHCP server. The router is configured with a static address and has disabled DHCP.

VLAN5 is a group of PC, who cannot have access to the Internet and nothing else on the network. I made a few screenshots of the parameters.

When I connect a PC port 4, a valid IP address is not received from the DHCP configured for VLAN5, instead the PC receives an address IP of SBS located on VLAN1, it also shows that I am connected to the local domain on VLAN1. Me missing something, is there something else that needs parameters. I can't understand why I don't get a 192.168.5.0 address.

My VLAN10 secure wireless works very well and receives the correct IP address.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Michael.

    Michael,

Well have gone through your messages and also set up a similar configuration in our laboratory. Note that I had trouble; no problem with the RV220W, but rather the switch was close one of the ports connected to RV220W. So I went to the SG - 302 switch and disabled STP on this port and everything started to work very well. So, it is probably similar in your case too. Also if the netgear is a fully managed switch, why don't you just truck two virtual networks on the same port. This will release two ports in your network. you mentioned that you receive an ip address of the vlan 1 when you were connected to the vlan 10, even with your configuration file, I haven't lived something like this. On the wireless side you can reconnect each SSID and the test. Tests you want to make sure that you do an ipconfig/release () and (ipconfig / renew) your IP stack could keep your permeable connected network settings.

    Thank you

  • Integrate existing network SG200

We have an existing network with a main catalyst switch 4510 and 3560 departmental switches are connected via fiber. Due to the restructuring of the company we can no longer buy us some new 3560's, when something goes wrong, so this week I bought a SG200-26 which I am trying to get on the network.

It is a legacy network that does not set up so my Cisco skills are somewhat limited (another reason for the if SG200 fine), in any case have been watching the configs on the existing switches and trying of correspond to the settings in the configuration SG200 however do not do anywhere! I have the config of the dead switch so I can show what needs to be done, I was wondering if anyone has experience in the degradation of their environment in a similar way and if there was someone who could help?

Peter, the good thing is, it seems that the config is fairly consistent with the SX200. It doesn't look like you guys made anything too special about the 3560.

Here is a snippit of your config

    interface FastEthernet0/18

    Phone nortel Description

    switchport access vlan 32

    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

    switchport trunk vlan native 32

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 16.32

    switchport mode trunk

    spanning tree portfast trunk

    spanning tree enable bpduguard

This particular port config looks like she embodies most of your work that you have cut out for you.

I use Microsoft device emulator for example

    https://www.Cisco.com/assets/Sol/SB/Nikola_GUI/SG_200-50P_v1_1/config/home_sx200.htm

    • Connect to the switch IP address
    • Browse VLAN MANAGEMENT-> create a VLAN
    • Create the necessary VLAN ID, it looks like you have a certain 16, 32, 64, 254,
    • Once VLANS are created them navigate VLAN MANAGEMENT-> Port Vlan Membership
    • Choose the port on which you want to configure, in the example snippit 18 port, click the port 18 radio button then scroll down and click on JOIN VLAN
    • This will open a new window, on your 18 port config looks like vlan 32 originated. The only command I noticed is there is "allowed vlan 32" essentially what actually a port marked for the vlan native. On the right column where it says 1up, select this option and then use the arrow to the left to slide on
    • Then on the left panel to choose 32, below where it says that marking, labeled and trying to make it is the PVID also choose 16, select the tag ensure 16 is not defined as a PVID then and apply this
    • The port should read 16 t, 32tp
    • To configure the setting of tree cover for this example navigate SPANNING TREE-> parameter of the interface of STP
    • Choose the port 18 then scroll down and click on change
    • Spanning port fast shaft comes in the terminology as edge port, change the port from edge of the car to allow
    • Then change the bpdu filtering handling (it's about the same as the bpdu guard)
    • Apply the settings

That's all what you can associate up to based off this port config. The switch does not have a so the closest bpdu guard, you can do is to filter bpdu. Globally configured BPDU Guard is designed to disable (disable-err) all ports enabled portfast should they ever receive BPDU frames. While preventing the switch to send BPDU frames on ports that are enabled with the portfast BPDU filter.

It also appears on the config of your vlan 1 is inactive and your vlan 254 is the vlan management. If this is the case, you can change the vlan by default of the switch to 254.

Don't forget to save the running configuration to the startup configuration.

I hope that's enough "translation." Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Topology change syslog, how to disable messages?

I have a number of switches BNT/Lenovo (8124, 8052, 8264) and all are connected to our central syslog server. I have quite a few switches in the same vlan, and I get a lot of topology messages of change like this:

I don't necessarily need to see this. I would like to delete this message without Gohan other messages such as the STP root bridge changes. Is this possible? These seem to be my options from the side of the switch:

I looked in the CLI guide for "journal of logging", but all I get is the following:

    [None] Journaling log []
Displays a list of the features for which syslog messages can be generated. You
can choose to turn on or off specific features (such as VLANs, stg, or ssh).
or enable/disable syslog on all available functions.

There is no detail on the option does what exactly.

I know that I probably can filter messages from syslog server-side but I would rather start the level for the switch.

    Thank you.

Today, there is no way to delete these specific messages.

They should not be too many and are often very useful to determine the cause of a failure.

In order to reduce drastically the TCN BPDU is to put all the host ports such as 'edge' or 'portfast '.

This setting prevent BPDUS and messages production when a host disconnect or connect to the switch.

Then, only the 'real' TCN is recorded and useful for diagnosis.

    Ciao, Maurizio.

  • Reference Dell Powerconnect 5324/5424 STP Configuration Question...

    Hey guys,.

I have a basic > intermediate understanding of networking. I recently loaded the research in what seems at first sight be an STP issue on our corporate network. Without going into too much detail, I think I found the cause of the problem. Within our network, we have our basic switching infrastructure and then a second pair of switches / second a lot, much smaller network that "needs" to be completely isolated from the base and core STP network.

However, I have discovered recently that this second network / set of switches are not as isolated as we thought. The second, network supposed to be isolated was installed by a 3rd party company - their statements being that the network should be completely independent of our core network and the only link between the two must be access / management connection so that we can telnet to these switches in the network of base if necessary.  However, I recently discovered that these switches on the isolated network are part of our STP! Not only that, but one of these switches is as root (as it has the smallest MAC address). It is through the management / access ports I think of BDPU must be get sent and received. Is there a way that I stop BDPU being sent and received during these management / access of connections between these two networks - therefore isolate the secondary network and making it create two instances of STP - one for the main network and the other for the secondary. We always request the ability to Telnet to these core network switches - I just need to block/filter STP on Internet access / management ports.

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read and respond to this.

With protocols spanning tree disabled on the port should not send BDPU frames.

  • Security SG200-26 and port

We have a 26 SG200 and unfortunately one of its ports is connected a mute switch. Whenever this silent switch is disconnected and reconnected several things happen.

1 port security intervenes and dynamically blocks port even if all ports are the default classic locking. We have not changed the default settings in the port security

    2. the Macro for "IP phone + Office" runs like dumb switch has several PC and Cisco IP phones plugged into it. This caused the PVID (2), I manually assigned to the switch (2) to changed to 1 which is the VLAN by default set in the "settings of VLAN by default.

Is it possible to effectively disable the port security, or should I disable Smartport.  I guess that what is originally kick port security is that the switch expects that there is only 1 or 2 MAC addresses and all of a sudden it's getting 10-20? I'm not sure but I can not think of another reason that it is not like we are plugging into new devices, then it should have already learned these MAC addresses.

    Mr. Sammycbmi,

You could disable Smartport for this interface or manually change the port to a switch port.  As a switch is connected to this interface.  However, this may affect some functionality if you have phones and PCs connected the switch turned off and the different VLANS.

Another option is to change the port to access the mode and allow only the traffic of data VLAN or VLAN voice.  However, with this, you will need to take appropriate measures for your network based on what you want off as interface/unmanage.

    Hope this helps,

    Michael D.

  • SG200 - 50 p, SG300 - 28 p phone YES Voice VLAN

    Hey guys,.

    I'm having a problem with the YES voice of VLANS on SG200 - 50 p, SG300 - 28 p, layer 2 Mode. Firmware 1.3.7.18.

Enabled on a port all the ports PVID unlabeled said no marked traffic is blocked.

    Example:

    Data VLAN 10 - 192.168.10.0/24

    Voice VLAN 100 - 192.168.100.0/24

Configuration of Vlan voice and YES added and enabled on ports.

All Ports configured as trunk Type.

    Example 1:

    Members Table shows that:

    Port 1 - 10UP

    2 port - 10UP

YES disabled: 2 laptops connected to ports 1, 2, traffic passes.

YES Enabled: 2 laptops connected to ports 1, 2, traffic blocked on VLAN10.

    Example 2:

    1 - 10UP, 100 tons of port

    2 port - 10UP

    Port 3 - 10UP

YES Enabled: 2 laptops connected to the ports 2,3, blocked traffic on VLAN10.

1 phone connected to channel 1, the phone connects.

So it's using, but for some reason any the vlan untagged on that port is blocked when the YES is enabled.

I have installation this scenario on many switches cisco small business before and it works very well, so I wonder is this a firmware issue? or am I just being stupid and something wrong?

Thanks for any help you can provide! :)

    Hi Vladimir,.

It's something about Cisco still working. You are more than welcome to open the ticket with us and contribute actively. At this point, the only solution is to sue 1.3.5 firmware which does not show this problem.

I have a LWAP with Cisco WLC connected to the same switch. I have activated assignemnet vlan dynamic using Windows /NPS. RADIUS Wireless successfully user can authenticate as well the vlan is assigned, but unable to ping the router subinterface.

On the switch, you must activate the trunk port connected to the router ports and AP, tried all means, what makes the trunk port and General, nothing worked. users are unable to ping the gateway.

If you have worked on this switch, pls help how to on this subject.

  • SG200-08 Configuration LAG and Internet access

I have what is probably a very simple and completely the question of noob, but after hours and days of research, I can't quite understand.

I have the switch SG200-08 that I use for the aggregation of connection between a NAS Synology DS713 + and my HP Z820 workstation.

I have ports 1 and 2 set up as LAG CH1 connection to ports 7 and 8 as LAG CH2 connect to the NAS and HP. I'm AT & T Uverse as my Internet provider so I have a single cable from my Uverse router to the switch Cisco to provide Internet access. I also am coming out of my Cisco switch on my Apple Airport Extreme, offering a Wi - Fi connection at home, in addition to access wireless to the NAS.

I have no problem to see and connect to my NAS drive, but my problems comes with regular internet access to my computer.

I created a team with two of my Intel NIC and connect properly to the NAS. My Internet is, however, completely hit or miss.

A few times, it shows Internet access and connects to the web pages very well and other times he will say: no Internet. I tried dragging around ports, enable/disable some settings that I have either read online thinking that it might be one of my problems, but at this point all this COMPUTER jargon made my brain bleed. I don't know if my basic settings are correct or if I need to change something simple to get this to work all this. I have attached a basic outline to help understand my confusion. Not sure if it is my bad configured switch. It could also be my team of SHIFT created in Windows 8. Hope I've provided enough information.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Kind regards

    Hello

I had a similar problem with a workstation running Windows 7 and 8 by using a network card Intel 350 - T2 with a grouping of LAG interface.

As soon as I DISABLED FRAMES JUMBO on network cards, the questions is arrested and everything worked fine (ping always successful, the Web pages showing all applications).

Hope this helps for you also.

Hi Lian, as I indicated in my first post and preceding positions, 802. 1 q allows only one instance of spanning tree. That's why disabling spanning tree works.

Yes, the binding protocol works for all models of RV0XX.
