Disable Touchpad

I need to turn my touchpad when I connected mouse

Hi Bill,

It really varies, but in general, this is how it would probably work:

Go to control panel / mouse and that there should be a setting there somewhere to disable the touchpad when a mouse is connected.  It is perhaps not in a tab where you expect to find it - in order to check all the.  It can also read differently, so carefully look at all the options.  If this can be done, it probably is (and it can almost always be done somehow - possibly).

If you can't find something like this, go to the web site of the manufacturer of your computer and update the drivers for your mouse or touchpad.  Then restart and check if the optiion now appears.  I had to do it myself when I added a USB mouse to my system, because the original touchpad drivers do not include the option but the update worked like a charm.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hello, strange question. But can not turn off the touchpad on a Portégé R830 (Windows 7 32 bit). I've seen this problem on two of the machines I have. This has never been a problem for the models Tecra I got, M5, M9, M10, M11, etc. R840.

I have the latest driver installed Alps, from Toshiba.co.uk. I tried the button on the touchpad, it does not work. The device of the Alps can be disabled in the Device Manager. I tried the Toucpad of the State system, Advanced tab, toolbar properties Advanced settings. It doesn't have a single parameter «Disable touchpad» There is no option to disable the touchpad when you use a USB mouse - however, this does not work.

Can anyone help with this? The only other option I can think of is the BIOS, but it would be inappropriate to my users, who may want to turn it back on it at a certain point during execution of Windows.

    Hi liamw,

You can disable the touchpad if you press the FN + F9 key combination. The touchpad will be disabled until you press this combination of keys again, but a mouse external isn t touched. That means you can still use a same USB touchpad mouse is disabled with FN + F9 key combination.

  • HP envy 15 t-q400: permanently disable touchpad

Hi everyone, does anyone know how to permanently disable a synaptics touchpad? I went to the touchpad settings and clicked on disable touchpad so that disable touchpad when a usb mouse is connected. My problem is that when I reboot, the pad touchpad is enabled again and I have to repeat the steps above. Is it possible to disable permanently? Maybe something in the bios? I also uninstalled the synaptics driver, but my touchpad still works.

    Hello

    Try the following.

First of all, if she has not already reinstalled, install the driver Synaptics, and then restart the laptop.

When Windows has reloaded, hold down the Windows key and press R

In the run box, type regedit and press enter

In the registry editor, navigate to the following

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install

Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade

If it is present, right click on the key and select Edit

Set the field data of the value 0 (zero) , and then click Ok.

    Close the registry editor.

Open the control panel of Synaptics and set options to 'disable the touchpad' and 'disable the touchpad when a usb mouse is connected', and then apply the change.

Check if the settings is now kept after a reboot.

  • Disable touchpad HP Envy 17

I have exactly the same problem you have posted... Do you have a solution?  There is no 'mouse' or "Point Touch Control Pad" with a disable to kill the touchpad.  I am thinking to resort to disassemble the laptop and unplug the cable that plugs into the touchpad itself.  I also deleted the synaptic touch pad (Windows 7) device driver and did not help.

I'm pretty sure that remove the cable from the touch pad will fix the problem, but it is a fairly long process... 20 with respect to and then if I still wanted to sell the laptop, I would probably have to plug the cable back in again for someone else.

    Please help, Dave

I've done what I suggested above to remove the flat cable for the touchpad disable touchpad and it worked very well.   I removed the two ends and folded cable where HP had folded it and scotch taped it to the system board next to the connector where it plugs IO on the system board so that someone will be able to put it back in if I never sold it.  On the plug, it has a little fitting valve rubber to flip upward to allow you to remove the cable at both ends.  I don't have any errors saying that it was not connected.  After the cable has been removed it simply does not work which is exactly what I wanted.    Problem solved.

  • Cannot disable Touchpad on Windows 7.

I am running Windows 7 and I want to disable the touchpad. When I try to disable it in Device Manager, the option 'Disable' is not clickable. When I try 'Delete' option, it says I have to restart my computer to apply the changes, but after that I restarted my computer, the Touchpad is still active.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I got an even hard to disable touchpad, and I had the problem in this way. If possible, connect an external mouse into a USB port, then open the Touchpad control properties tab and look for a framework written something like this: disable the Touchpad when an external mouse is detected.

Go back to Device Manager, and then try to disable the Touchpad. As an external mouse is already connected so I have a registered pointing device, Windows would let me disable the Touchpad without reinstalling on the next reboot.

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite L455D - How can I disable touchpad & WiFi slow

I just got this new laptop and I really NEED to disable the touchpad. It drives me crazy jumping everywhere when I type.

I tried Fn + F9 and it does not work. I looked in the control panel and I can uninstall the drivers, but can't turn it off. I like to use a mouse ball roll except when I'm traveling, so I don't want to uninstall the drivers. Is there a simple way to turn it off?

In addition, it seems to be EXTREMELY slow to access the internet with a Wi - Fi connection. Nothing is different with my internet connection or service except that cell phone provider is probably ten times slower than my old laptop.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I can't go back to Acer because the motherboard is dead or I would be.

    > Is there a simple way to turn it off?

Go to the Panel control-equipment and audio peripheral slot and printers, click the mouse, you will see the Touchpad settings windows. In this touchpad settings windows, go to the device settings and check, disable the external internal when pointing device usb pointing device is connected, press on, apply, and Ok.

    Hello

I guess that you can not use the FN + F9 options. Right?
This means that you have not installed the driver for the touchpad and / or the VAP (value added package).

Do it to get the keys FN working again.

  • Must disable Touchpad tapping Equium A60-173

OK, so my father, I bought a laptop a few years and now it has forwarded to me. I am wanting to turn off tapping it on the button, but I can't find an option to do so.
I installed a new copy of Windows XP Pro, so there may be some missing drivers that come on the recovery CD.
I tried to find all the drivers, but I can't find my notebook anywhere. I ran the Toshiba program that is supposed to detect what laptop you have, but it came with nothing when I ran it and I also searched in the drivers on the Toshiba site section, but my laptop does not even appear in the choice of laptops.

It is a Toshiba Equium and on the back, he said Equium A60-173 and the model number is PSA67E-00700C8J.

So, if someone can tell me please how to disable the tapping on the touch pad that would be great. I can't disable the touchpad entirely because of course I want to control the mouse pointer.

I saw a post that said to press Fn and F9, but has nothing, probably because I don't have the correct drivers installed.

    Any help would be great.

    Hey Buddy,

The touchpad tapping function can be disabled in the options of the touchpad driver. FN + F9 key combination to disable the touchpad together so it s another function.

The tapping function can be disabled if the touchpad drivers are installed. If you install Windows on a normal disc from Microsoft no drivers are installed and everything you need to install yourself. If you are using the Toshiba recovery that all disk drivers and tools are installed automatically because it contains a picture of the factory settings. Recovery disk is more comfortable.

All the drivers and tools you need now can be downloaded here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers
    * Archive * > Equium > Equium A60 > PSA67E

As you can see you only need to search the Archives to find the drivers ;)
