Setup cannot find a previous version of windows installed on your computer.  To continue, Setup must verify that you qualify to use this upgrade product. Please insert the product windows CD is in the CD rom drive, and then press ENTER.  I have inserted a microsoft windows xp professional service pack 2, then this message: Setup could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not a CD of windows vald.

    Hello Sarah-JaneBenjamin
The disk that you want to install Windows with is an upgrade. You need a complete product if you want to use the upgrade disk to install the operating system. That's why it asks you to verify that you have a calling to upgrade product. You said that you inserted a disc of Microsoft Windows XP Professional for validation, it's the same disc supplied your brother-in-law? You have already determined that the disc is damaged, so it does not work. Have you checked that the drive that you want to use is a complete operating system and not just a service pack disc? Also if you use the upgrade disk is not the equivalent of the disk that you use to check then the validation will fail also. If I had to guess I would say that you are using a service pack disk and that's why he will not be validated.
In all cases, you must always a valid disc to re - install Windows. I suggest that you contact Packard Bell support and see if they can provide you with the media. The chances are slim that they will have it since it's Windows XP. If they don't you may want to check with 3 sites of third party for the purchase of Windows XP. Trying to divert from auction sites like most XP Media is questionable in their legitimacy.
  • Boot Camp: This disc seems to have been divided by another utility. It must be erased before installing Windows.

I have a SATA Western Digital to 6 TB drive on my Mac Pro 2012.  I thought "what better place to put a bootcamp partition?  But when I went to use the Boot Camp Assistant, I was greeted with this:

Boot Camp: This disc seems to have been divided by another utility. It must be erased before installing Windows.

I thought ' OK - I'll delete data... Use utility disk to erase the disk completely, and then try again.  After a few hours, I used... completely partitioned disk utility disk and tried again.

    Same message.

It seems that for some reason I can erase completely and use the entire disk for Windows (blah) or should I use another drive or not Boot Camp at all.  Is there a problem with the size of the hard drive Boot Camp can support?  Any advice?

    Hello ElPapa,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand that you want to put a Boot Camp partition on your Western Digital HD connected to your Mac Pro. What is your boot drive? If this isn't the case, it could be part of your problem. According to the following article on installing Microsoft Windows using Boot Camp, it is said that you need "at least 55 GB of free disk space on your startup disk".

    Hello

Here is another solution, you can try to see if you can get Windows 7 to install correctly.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

All pilots additional and the software, you may need can be found here.

Thank you. (Excuse me for my English)

For disk drive optical feature you n t need to install an additional driver.
You can use your optical disc drive, the usual use of DVDs and CDs?

Can you maybe send a screenshot of this message?

As far as I know when you start the upgrade (upgrade disc put in ODD) you should see THE menu.

  • Windows 7 installation disc - to clean install

    Hello

I would like to reinstall Windows 7 on my X 1 carbon from scratch, whether without all the bloatware. Where can I get Win7 image/disc to do? I tried to install Windows 7 on my friends drive MSDNAA Win7 but the key does not match (I couldn't activate Windows).

    Thanks for the help,

Lenovo do not sell these discs. MSDNAA as in DreamSpark? The image on the DreamSpark are not images of detail. You would need detail picture of the version of Windows 7 to work with serial number only. that you got.

    Hi Happyrockgeek,

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!

This problem occurs if the Windows security .dll files are incorrectly registered.

To resolve this problem, you can perform the two methods of troubleshooting, check if the problem is resolved.
    Method 1:
Run (Checksur.exe) system update readiness tool.
To do this, follow these steps:
    1. download and run the system update readiness tool. This tool runs an ad hoc analysis of inconsistencies that might prevent future maintenance operations. For more information about how to download and run the Checksur.exe tool, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/947821
    2. try to install the updates again.

    Methods 2.
    Reset the Windows Update components.
    1. to reset the Windows Update components automatically, click the fix button in the link below.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
    2. click run in the file download dialog box and follow the steps described in the fix it Wizard.

I also suggest you to install the latest version of Windows Installer 4.5.
Follow the link below to download:

and you can also try to install after you turn off the firewall.

    It will be useful.

  • HP Pavilion p6 - 2176 s: install Windows 7 on SSD without disc

    Hello

I want to install Windows 7 on an SSD (I plan on getting a Samsung 850 Evo 128 GB) but I can't get one any file or installation disk. My PC did not come with a disk, only a code produced on the case. I went to the site of software recovery of Microsoft and typed code, but he told me that the product was not supported, as it was an OEM copy. I could try to create a restoration disk using the recovery on my main hard drive partition, but I heard the average success rate that was weak. Any suggestions on how to get the OS on the SSD drive? I have a 16GB Flash Drive if necessary void.

Yes it is a way to do it.

If your hard drive still has the partition recovery on it, you can use the feature of factory restore from the Recovery Manager which will effectively drive to the same state that when you got the computer.  Coaurse, there will be a lot of bloatware which you could uninstall before cloning.

If the recovery partition does not work and you have not created discs recovery when you got the computer, you can order them from HP.

    Hello

"The computer came with a disk, I downloaded it on the computer.

You have a retail XP license?

If that is right, or the other of these key research programs use to find your product key.

And if you look on the new Hard Drive manufacturer's Web site, they should provide software to "clone" your operating system currently installed through to the new hard disk.

When upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7, you must perform a custom (clean) installation because there is no real upgrade path. Perhaps the links below will help:

I have a linux operating system and I would like to remove it and install windows xp. I'm afraid that if I wipe the drive, I'll be unable to boot the windows xp disc. Is this true? What is the best way to remove the linux operating system and install windows xp?

original title: HOW I CAN UNINSTALL LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM

If there is absolutely nothing on the disk you want, just format the drive and install Windows XP:

    1. start from the CD. You may need to change the first boot to a CD device in the BIOS. To do this, when you switch on the look for a configuration message indicating what key to start typing, F2 and del are commonly used. The message appears for very long and it you miss, you have to restart the computer. In the BIOS, look for a section that contains the boot sequence, change it to CD, save it and let the computer to restart.

    2. the installation sequence is answering the message press any key to boot from the CD, and then press ENTER to set up Windows, press F8 to accept the EULA, delete the partition, press ENTER, type L to confirm delete, type C to create a partition, choose (Quick) format. Then begins the installation and restart will therefore ignore the subsequent message to press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.

    3. actual installation will begin and takes about 30 minutes. Finally, download all the missing Windows service packs and other updates.

  • HP recovery discs will allow me to install Windows 7 on a different partition?

    Hello world

I intend on creating a system in multiboot on my HP laptop.  If all goes well, it will run Windows 7, Ubuntu 11.04 and the beta version of Windows 8 when it comes out.  Given that I do a partitioning to make it work, I'll have to reinstall Windows 7.  I wonder if the HP recovery discs will allow me to install Windows on a specific partition or is it just change to factory settings, install Windows 7 and destroy my partitioning work?

Here are my relevant features (although I doubt it's important):

    HP Pavilion dv6-3210us Entertainment PC

    Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1, 64-bit

    Hello

The recovery disks, everything will just return to go back to the factory setting, clear all custom partitions that you may have created.  A round way, that it would be to reinstall Windows 7, remove the recovery partition which will be re-created (and possibly the HP_TOOLS if this applies in your case) and to use the own windows utility to create an Image disk and that record to an external drive.  This can at least give you the option to restore the Image of a selected partition, if you need to.

    Kind regards
