Disk space missing after uninstalling VMware Fusion 6

Hello

I tried a trial of VMware Fusion, but it didn't quite meet my needs so I uninstalled according to the instructions of http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1017838

I also deleted the folder where I had my stored VM.

It seems that I did not return the hard disk of the virtual computer however space.  Before the trial, I had ~ 320 GB 500 free, now I ~ 120 GB free... and using a tool such as disk inventory X, shows only ~ 180 GB of space used... so it seems that ~ 200 GB of space disappeared completely.

Everyone knows this, any suggestions on fixes?  I did the usual as ensuring that I emptied the trash and that you have restarted my Mac.

I hope I don't have to resort to a facility clean, just because I have tested this software!

Thanks, I downloaded GrandPerspective and noticed that a lot of "space used various" showed, ran it and disk inventory X as root so that all hidden files will be published and it turns out that, for some reason, there were a bunch of copies of my VM in my mobile volume backups time machine.

A ran 'sudo tmutil disablelocal' according to this thread http://www.mactalk.com.au/11/107659-my-mobilebackups-volume-taking-up-200-gigabytes.html and my space is back!

During my last installation of SuSE Linux, I had to manually reboot my system because my system crashed.

After the reboot, I deleted the virtual machine of Susa and started again installation. To my surprise 17 GB were mission on my hard drive and I can't find the files responsible for this. I checked my system of files larger than 500 MB via ' find /-size M + 500 ", but found nothing: (.)

Do you know where are the 17 GB or where vmware fusion may have experienced a system core dump or something like that?

Please help, I need the 17 GB for resettlement :).

    Thank you.

I have discovert that was missing only 3 GB of the 20 GB that I deleted before trying to install SuSE. But I deleted all the files that I specified after the crash. The trash is always empty so I'm a bit confused were are the 17 GB.

  • Uninstalling VMWare Fusion 2.0.8

Met an obstacle trying to uninstall VMWare Fusion.

    I've followed these inst:

VMware KB: Manual uninstall of VMware Fusion

But I can not find this file:

Manual uninstall of VMware Fusion 3.x and earlier versions

    1. Run the uninstall script named Uninstall VMware Fusion, which is in [Macintosh HD] / Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion /.

I'm in my Application Support folder. No file of VMWare fusion is here.  I tried with the finder to uninstall VMWare Fusion - nothing.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi tsl90,

Looks like the instructions in this article are incorrect (or at least misleading).  The uninstall program is not your directory in/Library/Application Support / as the instructions immediately followed suggestions... it's rather boot Application Support in/library/your drive /, which you can join by going to the Finder and choosing go > computer, and then double-click Macintosh HD (or your boot drive), then the library , then Application Support.  (Article gives the correct location in the first step, you quoted above, but he then gave incorrect instructions on how to get to this place!)

If you are unsure that you are looking for already in the right place (which is outside your home or users folder), another approach is to use the uninstall program provided on the original image of the VMware Fusion drive.  Download VMware Fusion 2.0.8 disk image again if you want, and then open the disk image and then double-click Uninstall VMware Fusion in there.

    See you soon,.

  • Uninstalling VMware fusion

I used VMware Fusion on an older IMAC with Windows XP for a few years.  Liked, but it was slow.  I recently updated to the IMAC I7 Quad and old mac migrated to. To my surprise, the VMware Fusion has worked well.  In fact, it worked great, it was fast.  I've upgraded to VMware 3.11 I did a training camp on the new Imac, because I could and installed windows 7 64-bit.  I works very well.  Now, after a few weeks I started having Kernel panic crashes when you use Spotlight.  There are a few programs have been identified as causing that.  VM stuff was a few of them.  So I uninstalled the program and the other VWWare.  I noticed that I don't have any disk space back, not much anyway.  Am I missing something?  Is there a score somewhere that I can't get rid of?   I would like to put this all back without the partition of the virtual computer.  I wanted to try to use the VMware Fusion with Windows 7 I loaded in boot camp.  I understand that this is possible.  I like to keep my XP works, if I can, but I have no idea what to do next.

    Thank you

    Tim

Now, after a few weeks I started having Kernel panic crashes when you use Spotlight.  There are a few programs have been identified as causing that.  VM stuff was a few of them.

Do you still have the papers of panic?

So I uninstalled the program and the other VWWare.  I noticed that I don't have any disk space back, not much anyway.  Am I missing something?

Uninstalling merge does not affect your virtual machines, just as getting rid of the Word does not remove your .doc files or update iTunes does not touch your MP3s. Since the majority of the space used is to store virtual machines, just uninstall merger does not change much used space.

Normal virtual machines are stored in files; where exactly depends on where you have chosen when they are created. If you don't remember, try a program like Perspective Grand to know where will your space.

I wanted to try to use the VMware Fusion with Windows 7 I loaded in boot camp.  I understand that this is possible.

Yes, even if you don't need to get rid of XP to do.

I like to keep my XP works, if I can

If you remove the backup of the XP virtual machine files, you cannot use it

  • Disk space reduced after deleting and creating SATA data warehouses

I was experimenting with measurement feature multiple with a host ESXi 5.0 (build 515841), which has two 2 TB SATA drives connected to the motherboard SATA controller. For the test, the first hard drive was installed with a VMFS5 data store and the second disc was added as an additional measure. The ability to store data went up 3.62 to as expected (individual drives show up 1.81 TB in VMware). After the test, I deleted the data store to configure the drives as of separate data warehouses. The second disc correctly displays a 1.81 TB of available space, but the first drive shows only a maximum of 256 GB of available space. The structure of the disc shown before creating the data store on the first hard disk shows 1.81 TB of free space. Additional free space can be recovered without having to reinstall ESXi? Thank you.

I didn't not experiment a lot with VMFS-5 me yet, but I have had a few discussions with other users. What they say, you can be able to increate the VMFS partition of size (in stages) by using partedUtil, and then run vmkfstools to cultivate the datatore. See for example Re: cannot increase the capacity of VMFS 5.54 data store

With your layout of the partition, it would be s.th. as these two commands:

    partedUtil resize "/vmfs/devices/disks/vml.01000000002020202020204d4e313232304633304d41553544486974616368" 3 10229760 3907029167
    vmkfstools --growfs "/vmfs/devices/disks/vml.01000000002020202020204d4e313232304633304d41553544486974616368:3" "/vmfs/devices/disks/vml.01000000002020202020204d4e313232304633304d41553544486974616368:3"

  • Disk space lost after the restoration of Bootcamp - El Capitan

    Hello

I've created a Partition of Windows 49 GB using Bootcamp and then tried to restore the partition after. To restore the partition that I got a message error "your drive could not be restored to a single partition. Since then, I have "lost" the 49 GB of space.

I checked the similar thread, but I'm not sure on what to do to fix this. Outputs of suggested controls are as follows:

I can see on the screenshot on the bottom the 49GB, but do not know how to release.

I tried running in Recovery Mode and diskutil repairDisk disk0 disk utility but this has not resolved.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

You will temporarily lose the HD recovery. Please backup OS X.

    1. merge the HD recovery in OS X. The order of the disk slices is essential in the following command.

diskutil mergePartitions jhfs + "Macintosh HD" disk0s2 disk0s3

    2. in disk utility, expand the new OS X partition to cover the entire disc.

    3. re-install OS x and recover your Recovery HD.

If you are comfortable with the Terminal commands, then

1 backup OSX and all of your files - use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support .

    2. boot into Internet recovery (CMD + Opt + R) - OS X: on OS X Recovery - Apple Support .

    3. click on Utilties-> disk utility and erase your entire internal drive.

    4. restoration of OSX and your files - use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support .

This requires another external drive that can accommodate TM backup - backup disks that you can use with Time Machine - Apple Support .

The message is correct. Start Internet recovery (command + Opt + R during startup) and click on utilities-> disk utility, click on the outermost disk and click first aid or repair.

  • How do you use a "physical disk" like a HDD in vmware fusion

In the Linux Version of VMWare Workstation, you can select "use a physical disk" by example/dev/sda

allows you to run VMware from one installation of windows on a real disk, or use this drive

as a secondary in your vmware session drive.

In Fusion, however, I can only choose images of floppy disks and not physical drives hard.

Is there no workaround solution to this merger? Will be the feature that is in the Linux version of

    Workstation never attend Fusion?

    Thank you

  • Hard disk space missing?

I recently moved from MacBook Pro with a 1 TB harddrive to a MacBook Pro with a 500 MB hard drive. On the old laptop, I used about 150 MB and 850 MB of free space. However, I have the new laptop, only about 140 MB of free space and not the approximate 350 MB I thought I would after transfer on 150 MB of files on my old laptop.

Everything installs fine and I don't store anything more about the new laptop - I know - and I can't find any huge new or files. It is as if he has 200 MB of something used. Any ideas?

    Hello

You get this info this Mac/storage and also about this report/storage/Mac system?

You could try a third party Omnidisksweeper application that will show you which process uses how many gigabites in descending order.
