Displacement of clustered servers

I have a virtual machine environment containing Virtrual Center 2.5 and 7 blades ESX 3.5 servers.

I want to move two of the servers blades somewhere else and house them in another box blade.

Each of the 7 blade servers have 2 CPU to ESX switchboard, Virtual Center Agent, Vmotion.

the server that hosts the virtual center would not be moved, it would be remiain in to its current location.

Issues related to the:

1-if I spend 2 blades again box blade with a SAN attached to a new location.

can a. I attach to the existing virtual Center?

b. do I do any update?

Thank you

Welceomt on the Forums-

a. Yes, you can manage the blades moved with the same virtual Center - I recommend to remove the blades from the inventory of VC and time when they are in the new location

b. No, there is nothing special, you need to buy.

  • Any way to limit the clusters/servers/VMs being monitored?

    I just brought it to the top of my operations with 50 licenses VM server. I want to follow my server infrastructure, but not my view infrastructure. My vCenter server has a cluster for my servers and cluster for my desktop PC. Since operations looking for everything, including my office computers, I used a lot of 50 licenses. Is there a way to tell not to montior operations some servers or clusters? I looked around and saw nothing, but I wanted to ask to be sure.

    Yes, you can do it.

    the registration of VCOps to the VC, you may have noticed there are 2 sets of credentials - administrative and collector.

    in your vcenter, create a new user (say "VCOps_collector") and gim him "no access" on the cluster, you don't want to monitor.

    then use this user for the credentials of _collector_ in VCOps. in this way, it will not collect stats for the machines that you want to not monitored.

    you will still be able to see them in VCOps well, just as there are no statistics for them

  • Clustered servers listed in TMS

    How managing licenses for control of VCS MSE 8510, TCS, cluster, VCS Expressway TMS.  Each slave/peers must be added in the TMS or that the master should be added?  I know for the MSE 8510 it says not to add the slave to MSDS, only add that the master, you can access the slave by the master in TMS via a tab group.  Is it the same way for other devices, and the slave/peers take device licenses in MSDS?

    Thanks, Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

    I can tell you that VCS and it is each VCS must be added to the MSDS. When there are cluster and you click the Cluster tab and that VCS you have selected, you will see the cluster information to include peer global cluster name under 'Settings of Cluster' and then all VCS cluster under "Cluster." According to which VCS you have selected, you will see which is the 'master' and who is a 'slave' in the pane "Peer Cluster.

    As far as TCS is going, and I assume you mean TANDBERG Content Server, I need for work research since I'll admit that I don't have a TCS cluster in my lab. However, I would remind each TCS must be added to the TMS as well and it will appear as does the VCS in TMS. And this should be covered in their documentation, i.e. Add TCSs and/or TCS clusters to MSDS.

    see you soon,

  • Essentials Plus and Standard - two clusters

    Can someone confirm if it is possible to rotate the following scenario.

    4 guests in total servers

    2 first clustered servers

    2 second cluster servers

    1 x Essentials Plus license

    1 x Standard license

    Is it possible to have essentially more license (which hosts physical licenses 3) cover both servers in the cluster first, and the first server in the second cluster.  Then have a single Standard license covers the remaining in the second group server.  I would use then two separate vCenter servers to manage each cluster separately.

    Hope that makes sense

    Yes, you can manage mutiple bouquets with a unique vCenter - clusters can be in different geographic locations. You must upgrade the essentails more vCenter license since you can only manage 3 guests with this license.

  • Does Windows natively support the aggregation of links?

    There are some descriptions on the aggregation of links in Wikipedia.

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_aggregation

    "Note that Microsoft Windows does support not natively the aggregation of links (at least until Windows Server 2008)."

    I was wondering if this description is accurate? And what about the new windows operating system, such as Windows Server 2012 edition?

    Windows xp, Windows 7 and Windows 8 natively supports the aggregation of links? If the answer if not, anyone know why? I know, Linux and other operating systems support the aggregation of links.

    Hi, Peacegump,

    For NIC teaming or link aggregation support, you will need to contact your provider network adapter or an OEM (for example, Dell offers a driver of consolidation).  They provide you with a driver that allows the grouping of NETWORK adapters, because Windows does not offer this feature in the core of the operating system.

  • Reference Dell MD3200i correct editing with IP system and the NIC for faster network speeds

    Hi all

    I worked on this project for a while now. I did a lot of research and have contacted Dell several times. I need help.

    I have 2 sets of identical to use for Hyper-V clusters servers. We bought a Dell MD3200i in November, we also bought a Dell 5424 switch and a Cisco SLM2048 switch. These servers have Real Tek 2 network cards for iSCSI Jumbo frames is 9 k

    The Dell MD3200i is two SAN controllers. Dell 5424 is the iSCSI optimized switch and Cisco is a 48 switch ports. iSCSI is on its own network that nothing else is connected to it. (There is an Iomega NAS and a promise Vtrak SAN Tech with all current domain of execution with iSCSI controller)

    Reference Dell MD3200i controller 0 Port 0 192.168.130.101 controller 1 Port 0 192.168.131.101

    Controller controller Port 1 0 192.168.130.102 1 1 192.168.131.102

    Controller controller Port 2 0 192.168.130.103 1 2 192.168.131.103

    Controller controller Port 3 0 192.168.130.103 1-3 192.168.131.104

    Cisco switch has 1 VLAN n ° 1 on it and the 130 subnet inside elements. There are 8 connections to the switch. 4 controller 0 and 1 of each of the servers. It has an IP of 192.168.132.4, but that switch IP does not make difference. Lighted Jumbo frames

    Dell switch has 2 of #1 for various things such as the domain controller, Vtrack, and SIN. Subnet 2 is 131 and has a total of 8 connectors inside. 4 in 1 controller and 1 from each of the servers. Lighted Jumbo frames. The switch IP address is 192.168.132.2

    Groups of servers. Each server node running Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and running hyper-v with virtual server clusters / storage folder on them. 2 Realtek NIC with Jumbo frames made 9 k ProdNode1 and ProdNode2 have 12 Core i7 CPU with 12 GB memory, EXNode1 and ExNode2 have 12 Core i7 CPU with 24 GB of memory.

    ProdNode1 iSCSI-1 192.168.130.110 ProdNode1 iSCSI-2 192.168.131.110

    ProdNode2 iSCSI-1 192.168.130.120 ProdNode2 iSCSI-2 192.168.131.120

    ExNode1 iSCSI-1 192.168.130.130 ExNode1 iSCSI-2 192.168.131.130

    ExNode2 iSCSI-1 192.168.130.140 ExNode2 iSCSI-2 192.168.131.140

    Portal discovery iSCSI on ProdNode1 went to 192.168.130.110 192.168.130.101 and 192.168.131.110 192.168.131.101 each of the other servers Discovery Portal have been pairs like this.

    iSCSI tab click on add 8 MPIO sessions at each of the ports on the MD3200i from Dell, target. For example, I added 1 session of 192.168.130.101 using it. Add Session,--> activate--> Advanced Mutlipath--> Local--> IP 192.168.130.110 initiator and target 192.168.131.101 iSCSI adapter. This is repeated on all servers. 4 connections for each NIC.

    The network is very slow. It revolved around 2 to 4 MB/MIN and it should be much faster. Initially, we had only the Cisco switch with only 1 VLAN and everything connected directly to it. I read somewhere that MPIO has been the problem, so I went through the same configuration but does not verify the MPIO checkbox above. Once this has been done, the network speed went up to 1.5 GB/Min but modular storage Dell was not happy, and virtual servers would fail and the connection is not very stable.

    What wrong with my setup? Can I directly home and fix the servers directly to the PowerVault and will make stable and allow for failover and redundancy NIC? I need to get this stable so I can move with something else.

    Thank you Ron

  • TelePresence VLAN

    We have a Manager Communications Group to serve our PBX.  We recently bought a new telepresence system and a 2nd CM cluster that is dedicated to the CTS.  Telepresence SRND States to put the CTS codec in the VLAN voice. There is no mention of this VLAN to the 2nd cluster dedicated to CM in.  I don't think that we can have clusters of 2 CM on the same VLAN voice then what would be the best practice to set the codec and the cluster of CM for the CTS?  Thank you.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/solutions/enterprise/video/tpendpts.html

    Hello

    It's more a question of CUCM SRND, but based on our CUCM SRND take a look at this:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/voice_ip_comm/CUCM/srnd/7x/netstruc.html#wp1043629

    In general, servers of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Unified CM) clusters, including the multimedia resource servers, reside in a data center or server farm environment. [...] Because these servers and resources are essential to voice networks, Cisco recommends distributing all servers in clusters CM unified, gateways voice hardware and centralized centralized resources among multiple switches physical and, if possible, several physical locations within the campus. This allocation of resources to ensure that, given a hardware failure (for example, a switch or switch line card failure), at least some servers in the cluster will be always available to provide telephony services. In addition, walkways, and material resources will be always available to provide access to the PSTN and to provide auxiliary services.    In addition to being distributed physically, these servers, gateways and material resources should be distributed between the VLANS separated or subnets so that, if a broadcast storm or a denial of service occurs on one VLAN, not all services and voice connectivity will be disrupted.

    ...

    There is the potential for a large number of devices in a single VLAN or broadcast domain to generate large amounts of broadcast traffic periodically, which can be problematic. A good rule of thumb is to limit the number of devices per VLAN to about 512, which equals two subnets of class C (that is, a class C address of subnet 23 bits masked). Typical access layer switches include the stackable Cisco Catalyst 2950, 3500XL, 3550 and 3750, as well as the Cisco 3560 and the larger, high-density Catalyst 4000 and 6000 switches.

    Note The recommendation to limit the number of devices in a single VLAN of Communications unified about 512 is not only due to the need to control the amount of broadcast traffic VLAN. For Linux Unified CM-based server platforms, the ARP cache has a limit of 1024 devices. Installation of Unified CM in a VLAN with an IP subnet that contains devices more than 1024 can cause Server Unified CM ARP cache fills up quickly, which can seriously affect the communications between the Unified CM server and other Unified Communications endpoints. Although the size of the ARP cache on server based on Windows Unified CM platforms is developing dynamically, Cisco recommends a limit of 512 devices in any VLAN regardless of the operating system that is used by the Unified CM server platform.

    To answer your question, Yes, separate the VLAN for CUCM, not only for clusters, servers (one cluster contains 1 to 20 servers (super cluster))

  • JVM and JMS.

    Hi all

    We use WLS 10.3.6. We have created a JMS server and we receive files to our queues from a supplier.

    We are looking for the setting of the JMS and we read that we could create multiple Java virtual machines for many JMS servers.

    It would make sense to speed up our processes? And if so, how can we do this?

    Thanks a lot for your help!

    "What I get your answer, is that it is also possible to create several managed without clustering servers, right?"

    Yes you can.

    Note that the use of a cluster in WebLogic is not complex, it's just an extra step

    -When you created your managed servers

    -You can create a cluster (leave the messaging unicast mode) and add your managed server, that's all.

    Hi all. I hope I am in the right place. Try physical installation 1-vm cluster. Both servers are running 2008 R2 Enterprise. The physical server is the use of Powerpath to connect to the network on zFCP via HBAs installed EMC SAN. Installed on both physical and virtual Clustering servers.

After you install the Cluster service and then, by running the validate a Configuration, we get the following error on the server VM:

    Is there a way to support around that? Hoped to not have to find another physical server which is how our other hubs are configured.

    Thank you

    Carito

    I just had the same problem, but on a physical cluster connected to the San.

    I was able to fix this by going to control Panel\Programs\EMC Powerpath - Change\Modify and added the missing table support.

    Server will require a reboot. Not sure what this all help to your situation.

  • Recommendations on domain DR

    I'm trying to document our recovery of WebLogic and have some questions about best practices.

    (1) if my physical server goes down and I'm trying to get my WebLogic domain name back up as soon as possible on another machine should I:
    (a) have the 'unwrapped' field of archive most recent (which had a 'pack' done about it)? (I guess that WebLogic will need to be installed first on the new server and do not appear in the field decompress?)
    (b) request a complete copy of the area restored from a copy of the file of the domain? (This would probably have installed first WebLogic)
    (c) have the field installed from a model that was built of generator model? (I guess WebLogic should be installed that is not part of the model?)

    ('B' seems to be the fastest answer to me, but please confirm if there are reservations about this approach and if/why it would be best to use the pack generator or model for this)

    (2) here, the assumption that the IP addresses would be the same for new machines, however, if they were not, these just would be a matter of editing the config.xml file to the new IP address? Or is there more to consider?

    (3) if the environment is clustered models make (or jar pack) on both servers? (These 2 servers in the cluster ARE registered in the area and therefore have a domain, config.xml.etc... as well).

    Thanks in advance for any experience or knowledge on how best to handle this...

    Hello
    1. I wouldn't recommend unpack approach. First thing, it is, YES, do not install the Weblogic version server exactly the same. Then run unzip command. But the main question is packing and unpacking may not copy all the resources of the domain configuration as a source of data AD/configurations settings, JDBC, JMS stuff etc. If I'm not mistaken in general we use pack/unpack to create managed on the remote machines in an env clustered servers.

    2 copy the complete folder field completely, it's a quick and sort of a reliable way to get back in business. Of course, you must have Weblogic Server same version installed in the same exact folder structure. Also if you have any external JDK, you need to install them too. Now if the IP address is different, just modify the config.xml file for updating the new IP address. It's the only place.

    3. model is mainly during the development phase. We create a domain, configure all the stuff. Then export it as a model. On the other remote machine, first install weblogic server. Run the Configuration Wizard and create the new domain based on this model. Now, some things are configurable as password etc to the field again. But the point is, you had to do extra work such as the creation of domain etc.

    4. If the Env is clustered, do you always model Pack or only from the main master machine that has AdminServer and all other configurations. Because the remote control or other machines with managed servers, just get a copy of master admin machine each time. Then managed servers is just a copy but not the original.

    So ideally, have a regular backup of the domain folder and use that is a quick fix. If this fails, use model approach. If that fails, the last option is to pack/unpack.

    Thank you

    Some of these services require quick I/O and some require data to be 'seen' by at least 2 virtual servers for HA.

    Can I use discs RDM for HA/Clustering servers and for those who need quick I/O, or can I use VMDK:s?

    If I present to you the entire 4 TB SAN ESXi can I then several virtual servers use certain parts of this 4 TB SAN as discs RDM and other servers use certain parts of this SAN as VMDK:s? (Do we have virtual HBA:s in ESXi?)

    Thank you

    Yes. But you must consider as usual VMDK of hard drives in this case, you must install the cluster file system there.

  • isLockout on weblogic

    Hello

    I opened the question below and I've been advised to open it on this forum. Please help, if anyone knows how to solve this problem.

    isLockedOutUser on weblogic

    Thank you.

    I want to know the State of a user is locked or unlocked in weblogic. I used the code below. My localhost all it works but when I deploy on the server I can not get the correct result even the user is locked.
    I got no errors, but the status is not correct.

    Someone at - it an idea?

    public class UnlockWeblogicUser {}
    static MBeanServerConnection connection private;
    Connector of static JMXConnector private;
    Private static final service ObjectName;
    {public static
    try {}
    service =
    new ObjectName (com.bea:Name = DomainRuntimeService, Type = weblogic.management.mbeanservers.domainruntime.DomainRuntimeServiceMBean");
    } catch (MalformedObjectNameException e) {}
    System.out.println (e.getMessage ());
    throw new AssertionError (e.getMessage ());

    }
    }

    {} public boolean isUserLocked (String username)
    Ground of String = "";
    try {}
    ObjectName [] serverRT =
    (ObjectName []) connection.getAttribute (service,
    "ServerRuntimes");
    ObjectName = ssr
    (ObjectName) connection.getAttribute (serverRT [0], "ServerSecurityRuntime");
    MRR ObjectName =
    (ObjectName) connection.getAttribute (ssr, "DefaultRealmRuntime");
    Ulr = ObjectName
    (ObjectName) connection.getAttribute (MORR, "UserLockoutManagerRuntime");
    ground =
    Connection.Invoke (ulr, "isLockedOut", new Object() {username},
    New String() {"java.lang.String"}). toString();
    System.out.println ("Rezultat isUserLocked" + ground);

    } catch (MalformedURLException exc) {}
    System.out.println (Exc.getMessage ());
    } catch (IOException exc) {}
    System.out.println (Exc.getMessage ());
    } catch (Exception e) {}
    System.out.println (e.getMessage ());
    }
    System.out.println ("rezultatul" + ground);
    try {}
    Connector.Close ();
    } catch (MalformedURLException exc) {}
    System.out.println (Exc.getMessage ());
    } catch (IOException exc) {}
    System.out.println (Exc.getMessage ());
    } catch (Exception e) {}
    System.out.println (e.getMessage ());
    }
    If (rez.trim () .equals ("false")) {/ / System.out.println ("faaalse");}
    Returns false;
    } else {/ / System.out.println ("true");}
    Returns true;
    }
    }

    public public static void initConnection (String hostname, String portString,
    String username,
    String password) throws IOException,
    MalformedURLException {}
    String Protocol = 't3 ';
    Integer portInteger = Integer.valueOf (portString);
    int port = portInteger.intValue ();
    String jndiroot = "/jndi/";
    String mserver = "weblogic.management.mbeanservers.domainruntime";
    try {}
    JMXServiceURL serviceURL =
    new JMXServiceURL (Protocol, host name, port,
    jndiroot + mserver);
    H Hashtable = new Hashtable();
    h.put (Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, username);
    h.put (Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, password);
    h.put (JMXConnectorFactory.PROTOCOL_PROVIDER_PACKAGES,
    "weblogic.management.remote");
    Connector = JMXConnectorFactory.connect (serviceURL, h);
    connection = connector.getMBeanServerConnection ();
    System.out.println ("face conexiune");
    } catch (MalformedURLException exc) {}
    System.out.println (Exc.getMessage ());
    } catch (IOException exc) {}
    System.out.println (Exc.getMessage ());
    } catch (Exception e) {}
    System.out.println (e.getMessage ());
    }

    }

    On the host name, I set the ip address and port for the administration server. It seems that he make the link, because if I put another ip from clustered servers I get error.
    How can I solve this problem?

    I try even with ServerSecurityRuntimeMBean.isLockedOut
    ground = connection.invoke(ulr,_"ServerSecurityRuntimeMBean.isLockedOut",_new_Object[]_{username},_new_String[]_{"java.lang.String"}).toString ();
    because I read that is obsolete and has been replaced by this. On my localhost everything works fine, but when I deploy the application on weblogic 10.3.3 I get even only false results, that the user is locked out.

    You must connect to the server for the runtime domain administrator

    When you look at your code above

    ObjectName[] serverRT = (ObjectName[])connection.getAttribute(service,"ServerRuntimes");
    ObjectName ssr = (ObjectName)connection.getAttribute(serverRT[0], "ServerSecurityRuntime");
    ObjectName rrm = (ObjectName)connection.getAttribute(ssr, "DefaultRealmRuntime");
    ObjectName ulr = (ObjectName)connection.getAttribute(rrm, "UserLockoutManagerRuntime");

    The serverRT is an array of serverruntimes, here you get the right server. You can browse table
    and check, for example, the name of the server (note that at position 0 is usually the adminserver). When you have the right server you can use

    rez = connection.invoke(ulr, "isLockedOut", new Object[] { username },
    new String[] { "java.lang.String" }).toString();
    System.out.println("Rezultat isUserLocked " + rez);

    To check if the user is locked.

    Hello

    during the setup of Planner in the ibots tab, there is a presentation of Olivier option so server if my presentation server url is http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard
    then I should mention as localhost:9704 or whatever default localhost:9710? If I leave it as default value what are the mistakes happen?

    Thank you

    If you have not changed any port number and also you have not configured in cluster envn then keep the value by default as it is for example "localhost:9710". This won't give any error...
