displacement of different storage

I realize that my question may not be perfect for this forum, but I will give this a shot anyway...

I vSphere 4.0 and server physical dell all connected iSCSI dell storage. I move to a different iSCSI storage solution. Is not a problem by moving all my virtual machines, but someone has a whitepaper or suggestions on how to move my physical servers in the SQL cluster in an array of different storage?

    Hello

    the problem here is this:

-There are two schemas X and Y, which, for objective reasons, need to be registered for different storage types

There is saved as structured storage and here, the system complains with the message:

Is it really true that the types of storage should not be mixed? According to the docs, it shouldn't be a problem.

Everything is fine when the two schemas are registered as the same type of storage.

Any suggestions that might cause the problem?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

To explain with a simple example, why mixed storage may not work...

When we record a relational storage schema object, Oracle creates backstage of a set of object types and SQL collection that map XML to SQL data model structure.

If you understand that it is also easy to understand why your scenario is not supported.

For example, let's say that this is "schema X":

    Start

    () dbms_xmlschema.registerSchema

    schemaURL-online 'schema - X.xsd'

    schemaDoc =>

    '

    local-online true

    genTypes-online true

    );

    end;

    /

Without annotations of schema, Oracle will create an object SQL like this (generated by the system name) type:

CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE "DEV". ("' CommonType5101_T" AS OBJECT)

    "SYS_XDBPD$" "XDB". "' XDB$ RAW_LIST_T."

    VARCHAR2 (4000 TANK) "item1",.

    'item2' VARCHAR2 (4000 TANK)

    )

    NO FINAL CANNOT BE INSTANTIATED

    /

Now, let's say this scheme registers Y, which uses the schema X Atapez:

    Start

    () dbms_xmlschema.registerSchema

    schemaURL-online 'schema - Y.xsd'

    schemaDoc =>

    '

    local-online true

    genTypes-online true

    );

    end;

    /

Similarly, Oracle will create another type of SQL object:

CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE 'Root5106_T' AS OBJECT)

    "SYS_XDBPD$" "XDB". "' XDB$ RAW_LIST_T."

    'Content' 'CommonType5101_T '.

    )

    FINAL CANNOT BE INSTANTIATED

    /

As you can see, the type of 'root' reference the previously created type 'CommonType5101_T' when registering the schema X.

If the schema X is registered for binary XML, no extra SQL type is created.

Therefore, when we try to save the scheme there for the object-relational storage, Oracle will try to retrieve the name of the type that 'Content' attribute of the root must be based on, but since this type does not exist, an error is raised.

  • Import Export to different storage spaces

Anyone know if there is a way to export from a database (creating a dmp file) and then import into another database to different storage spaces? I tried this and got this error:
ORA 959. He complained that the tablespace does not exist (that what is not). Is it possible that I can change the export or import of settings to avoid this and just use the default storage space?

I may well be missing the point here, so feel free to tell me that I'm being a fool.

    Thank you
    Johan

Hi tables with LOB, etc. mandatory partitioned tables requires the same space of tables in the destination database.
so maybe in your case it happened. General tables will always get import without fail.

  • Increase Lun with different storages

    Hello

If I have a bit of space and want to make a lun increase, I use a different number of logical unit to another storage?

My problem: I need to put 400 GB of space for a machine that is located in vm3.5, but it does not see the storage DS4700. If I develop a DS8000 DS4700 lun with the space I can see?

Taking into account that we have a storage medium and high-end, I think that the first is not recommended, until this ok!

    Kind regards!

If you have found this information useful, please consider awarding points to 'Correct' or 'Useful'*.

Yes, that is supported. As long as you see a free disk (LUN) you can use it to extend an existing VMFS partition:

    http://pubs.VMware.com/vi35/server_config/sc_storage_manage.11.6.html

You should be aware that the loss of a LUN means the entire loss of the data store.

  • DRS/HA when the guests have access to the different storage

    Hello

I wonder what will happen in a scenario where all guests are in a group, but not all guests have access to the same storage (see attachment).

Is smart enough to only migrate (or start) DRS/HA a virtual machine for guests who have access to the storage, it is located on?

I understand this is probably not a supported configuration, but this is a temporary measure

    Thanks for any help.

In a HA/DRS configuration, it is recommended to have shared storage. But even if you have no shared storage, you can always enable HA/DRS, but your virtual machines will not be protected HA.

Yes, the DRS is smart enough to move only those virtual machines that are located on a shared storage, in case of lack of resources. HA, too, smart enough to restart these virtual machines, on the other hosts that are on shared failure of host storage only.

  • ESX server with 2 different storage array?

    Hello.

I currently have my ESX servers connected to storage DS4700 and most berries.  Each ESX is double path via a switch which, in turn, allows me to see my DS4700.  My question is, can I i the area my ESX Server so that it can "see" my DS8300 and I would be able to assign LUNS of my ESX servers with no problems?  Both can coexist?  I think I should use for my DS4700 host bus adapters and host bus adapters that are dedicated to my DS8300?  A UNIX point, these 2 storage arrays do not 'communicate' the same way (for example, SDD and RDAC).

    Thank you.

    Steph

SDD driver is for the multipath. VMware has its own multi-channel driver that is shipped with ESX server, you won't not any 3rd party multipathing software.

In any case to be abel to see camps Bay you have no need to activate the software multpathing. It is intended only to provide a redundant path to any logical unit number hosted by a single table through several MS SPs/Ports.

Area just for DS8300 ESX Server and a new analysis should see the new targets and when you present LUNS to your host definetion analyze again another you should see the DS8300 LUN.

    I hope this helps.

  • Migration of all the catalog items to a different data store in the same storage profiles

    Hello

is any possibility to migrate everything in the catalog (time and iso files) to a different data store that has the same profile (Silver) storage group?  Because I have 2 groups of data store with the same profile of storage (Silver) and I want to delete one of this cluster.

I found this kb: http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2058094 but it speaks solely of media files of migration between different storage profiles.

    Have vCD 5.6.4

You happen to use rapid Provisioning?  This is probably the only problem I can think of.

Environments that have no linked Clones or shadows created from them, you can just Storage vMotion them between the same storage policy data warehouses.  Just make sure that the data store or a store of data clusters are visible in vCloud Director first of all in the framework of this storage policy.

When you use linked clones, I don't remember the exact process... I think that I have in my office somewhere (I'm at home now).

  • MacBook Pro. 2 different readings of free memory

My Macbook Pro.10.11.6/ 2012 is a bit slow. It shows also the 2 readings of different storage. Under Macintosh HD icon desktop reads 328,82 GB free. But in the section "about this mac" reads 271 GB free. Difference of 57 GB. It is a bit slow?

    Hello

It's a big difference, something that I would try would be to repair and check your drive. You can do this by following these steps:

    1. Restart your MacBook Pro
    2. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the command + R key until the apple logo appears at the bottom
    3. A dialog appears, select the Disk utility
    4. Select your Macintosh hard drive and under the first aid tab, click Repair
    5. Once the repairs completed, restart your mac

I hope this will fix the problem, good luck!

  • Availability of storage is not consistent

    Hi guys

How are the two estimates of my availability to different storage? Or is it just the blue bar on the right shows an incorrect estimate?

    Thank you

You talk about the difference between 249,78 and 251 GB?

You realize that's a difference of 1.22 GB which is less than 0.5%. The East represent the overhead on the hard drive which is probably using the disk space that is not in the view of disk space.

  • CX3-20: host in several storage groups?

    Hi all

What is the trick? I have all the storage groups created on our SAN access to our server VCB (Virtual Consolidated Backup of VMware).

The problem is that our Clarion EMC Cx3-20 allow us only to add a host to a storage group.

If I want to connect the VCB server to a different storage group, I get a prompt saying (in Navisphere):
AMS - back.corp.com: this host is already connected to a different storage group. Connection to the current storage group will be be disconnected from the other storage group. This will cause the host unable to access the LUNS that are in the other storage group.

VCB server must see all LUNS, can advise you?
    Thank you

  • Turn off the storage warnings to compare models

    Hello!

Is there a way of turno off warnings for the differences in storage. I use SQL Developer Data Modeler 4.0.2.15.

The thing is I am importing TEST environment data dictionary and then compare the model of PRODUCTION data. But it is TEST and PROD on different machines with different storage properties. And when I compare them it shows me warnings on storage properties. I need to compare only the basic structure of the objects.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

You can configure the templates to compare using the 'Options' tab in the model window "compare." You will find several options for DOF staorage and compare options.

  • Storage vmotion very slow

Storage vmotions run very slowly. The virtual machine that has a 60 GB HARD drive. I tried different storage and still the same result. I have even upgraded to a network of 10 GB with the same results. I opened an evidence of support and the engineer told me vmotion will not use the link in full speed but it seems quite slow for the numbers I get. I hope I have provided enough information below for assistance. I hope that it is something I am doing wrong...

    Hosts:

3 x ESXi host. Two are updated to version 6.0 1 and a version 5.5.

    Dell PowerEdge R610

    Xeon E5540 - 8 x 2.53GHz

    48 GB OF RAM

10 GB for storage and vmotion traffic

4 x 1 Gb NIC for vm traffic interconnection

All storage is on the shared storage. The only local thing is the operating system

VMware EVC mode for the production of Intel's Nehalem.

    Storage

    Supermicro NAS 2 to 4 x 4 RAID 10 storage pools

    Integrated 10 GB NIC

    QNAP TS - 469U - PR to 4 x 4 RAID 5 NAS

    2 x 1 GB NIC aggregated link

    Network

All 3 hosts and NAS are connected with a Netgear dedicated 10 GB switch (low-end model).

    Using a standard vswitch

    Problem

1 ESXi host has a computer virtual stored on storage on NAS Supermicro 1 pool. When a storage vmotion is running on a virtual machine that has a 60 GB VMDK, it takes a long time to complete. He started at 09:36, and is now 61% fine at 10:58.

    2. the network of 10 GB is where the vmotion traffic is allowed.

    3. If I use a link to 10 GB or a 1 GB link, I get the same speed.

    4. I have disabled all VM at a time given for the trial and who has not helped either.

    5. I tried a QNAP so storage vmotion, and I get the same speed.

I use connection CAT6A cables. I have fine tuned for storage, and it seems to work better now. Seems to be linked to "writing - sync" as ESXi.

  • VSAN guests can access the FC SAN storage at the same time?

Soon we will invest in new ESXi hosts and we want to design them for the ability to VSAN. But since VSAN is a fairly new technology, we also want the same hosts to act as our old guests and have warehouses of data in our SAN (FC SAN attached storage) environment.

Host VSANS have access to VSAN and FC SAN storage at the same time?

What advantages and disadvantages do you see with this design?

Yes, there is nothing to stop an ESXi participating both host a cluster VSAN, and also had access other storage taken in charge of protocols such as NFS, FC, FCoE or iSCSI.

However, you will not be able to use the LUNS or Volumes presented on NFS, FC, FCoE or iSCSI for storage VSAN.

VSAN requires local disks to build the VSAN data store.

I guess the only concern would be the additional management that comes with having many types of different storage, but this is true even if VSAN wasn't in the picture.

  • Several profiles of allocated storage in ovDCs

    Hello

Is there a way to produce a report that shows the amounts of storage that is allocated to the different storage profiles in an allocated ovDC?

I know that on rate factors which can be defined at the level of the storage profile in respect of infrastructure spending and used to determine the storage profile that a paralyzed man is on. I'm looking to see the storage space allocated to the ovDC of different storage profiles when the report is run on the ovDC and storage allocation = is defined in the billing policy.

I saw some discussions related to this topic, but I have not seen a definitive answer on whether and how this can be done.

    See you soon,.

    Milos

    Hello

This feature is not currently taking CBM. We cannot determine the storage allocated for each profile to OrgvDC.  We can generate a report fo the total storage allocated to an OrgvDC, but not for storage inside the OrgvDC profiles.

    Thank you
