Display failed on the Pavilion dv9730nr

Pavilion dv9730nr notebook, under Windows Vista Home Premium, the display is not upward in any way readable at startup.

Display at first ran OK for several minutes before the screen is empty (or very badly scrambled), but it is gradually degraded to the point where it does not start with a readable display at all. Diagnostic tests I ran while he was working a little says the video card (display board?) did not work properly and the need for the services of a technician.

I followed a number of forum posts, and I think that is not an uncommon problem tree that cell phone, requiring a new video card to be soldered to the motherboard. If sent to HP, they replace the whole motherboard - and the problem is repeated often.

Connect an external monitor to the portable computer translates an identical unreadable display.

I decided to empty the portable despite being only about one or two years (after the warranty), because it seems to be a lemon.

My Question:

Is it possible for me to recover my important files from the hard drive? I have many other computers of HP desktop that I could join the disk hard IF she 'standard' desktop-power and data connectors (?)

OR can I directly connect a computer desktop to the laptop, assuming that the laptop actually starts OK, even if I can't see a display that is readable on the laptop - that is to say can I use office connected as a readable display so I can see what I do to transfer files from hard drive of the laptop on a different hard drive?

BTW, I'm very capable mechanically and electronically, so I can handle open the laptop, remove stuff, etc. I'd get a new video card and replace it, but I think the mobile individual is too unreliable to be useful repair - from what I read on the Forum.

As a last resort, I guess there are computer places I could bring the laptop or its disk hard so that THEY could transfer my files for me?

I'm done with HP, especially as the new CEO wants to get out of the computer industry.

Thanks for any advice or help, you can offer.

Art Katz

Hi Art,

Yes, you have run in a very common problem with some models having the NVIDIA video chip.

You can remove the hard drive and use a external enclosure 2.5 ".  I use them all the time.

Turn your laptop over and you should be able to access the hard disk.  Unplug the laptop and remove the battery as a precaution before removing the hard drive.

You can also get the GPU fix here I heard the repair cost is around $65.

The problem is that my laptop when I start it it takes like 10-15 minutes to load.

I did no other reviews but I want to first of all understand what it means to id of failure.

    Hello

The hard drive is faulty defiantly and Yes should not replace. Failure ID is given, so if your laptop is under warranty you can give this to HP and it will then allow you the replacement

Usually the instructions on how to replace the hard drive are in the manual of your computer that you will be able to get a copy on the HP site. You can also buy the HP installation media which will be operating system files on your for reinstall on the new hard drive.

and the number of results is passed to the 'ModifyReportHeader' through Globals files, where you can edit the XML file to display in the Repot (follow the link in my previous post).

  • Hard drive test failed on HP Pavilion dv6-1100eo laptop computer

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-1100eo Entertainment Notebook PC (P/N: NR597EA) with Vista 32 bit.  Unfortunately no guarantees left in, and in general I was very satisfied with this laptop.

But suddenly Wondows would not start up - and it has yet to start Recovery hard disk partition. As I didn't know if this start was on hard drive or not - I ordered the DVD of recovery system for this version of Scandinavian language.

These discs didn't work - so I thought that I probably did not my homework before ordering these disks.

So I ran Diagnostics System (even if I have an older version of BIOS F.03).  On the diagnostics - test hard drive fast and complete failed during the first 1% analysis.

Is there something that can be done - or is the only option new hard drive? In the case - the what hard drive is recommended is too cheap - because I don't want to invest too much in a book soon 3 year.

Recently I have bougth an external hard drive (1 TB) based on the USB connection. That allows bypassing the HD internal. In this way I would increase HD capacity and not invest more in this notebook - since I already have the recovery DVDs

It's probably a matter of time before I go buy a new HP laptop - that is why I don't want any long standing patch this problem.

    Hello

Sorry to say, but you won't be able to install or boot from external HARD disk Vista, so if you need to get the workbook, you will have to replace the internal drive.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 57 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

  • System Image backup has failed during the backup

    Hi CherylLyme,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using the forum, it's a great place to find answers.

You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you did an image backup, and while he was almost done you received the error (0 x 80070003).  Here is a link to a response from Microsoft to help you. Windows backup error 0 x 80070003 (One answer per Vinod N)

I'm not sure if you would be able to leave and get back on disc 99, because once you have repaired, it will be changed from when you first ran the backup.  The disc that you used only were not read, accessible writing, so you wouldn't be able to reuse them.  You can see that an external hard drive would be a more economical way to make your backups. The data must be in one place and easier to store.  If you decide to use a USB key, so do not more then the 32 GB and won't Windows 8 on it.

You can probably buy an external drive for on the cost of the replacement of disks.  Here is a link to the HP Shopping external storage , but you can buy one at several places, Office Depot, Staples, Wal-Mart and computer shops are few.  I hope this helps.

  • use of dll in the mixed in win 2008 application fails, but the same sequences of app in win 2008 r2

    Hello

Currently we have an application that follows set up, we have a module a [mixed-mode dll] compiled with / CLR Pavilion and we have another module B [native code [exe] which gives access to the module. Application B fails to run on the computer of 2008 victory while the same application runs with errors on a box of win 2008 r2. Its a 32 bit application. The only change that has happened in our env was until recently, we used VS 2008 compilers and so far, the applications ran fine on win 2008 and win 2008 r2 machines. But the application even when it is compiled with VS2010 causes the error to be seen only in a box 2008 victory.

While trying to identify the issue, I tried to create the sample application that has a dll in mixed mode generated with the/clr option, and the content of the dll is just a global function that is exported by using _declspec (dllexport).

The other application I wrote uses the .lib, .h and the dll of the module above to call the global function written. When I run the exe of the application fails with the same error. Just to be clear, that the projects are developed using VS2010.

When I just removed the option/CLR using which is the compiled module the application works fine. Ask you to compile with / CLR, generate a dll in mixed mode is causing problems or if I'm missing some parameters.

The application even when I came to win 2008 r2 env works fine, I even tried to copy projects to win 2008r2 box and tried to run it and it works fine.

Please let me know if I could help in this regard or what cud be wrong in the env or if its sth a known issue. Also was wondering if his being caused somewhere in the Ombudsman (thunking).

Point to note is that control never comes the code I've written, it fails while the modules are loaded even if my observations are correct.

Best regards, Sohail Patel "MCSE 2003 | ITILv3 | "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a first step."

  • FAILURE - Security Options. Login process failed create the security options dialog.

I'm running Windows Vista Business Edition 32 bit on a Dell XPS M1330 desktop; 4 GB OF RAM. 120GB HD. I use McAfee Security Center.

Sometimes, the system hangs with the following symptoms :

    • I'm starting to receive messages "not responding" in an application or a program that I opened, for example when using Firefox or windows explore.
    • The system starts to slow down and works with breaks and stills.
    • Gradually, the system does not meet the clicks or keyboard, but I can move the pointer. I am also unable to bring up the Task Manager (no response to C-A-D)
    • Eventually the screen goes black with the exception of pointer, which moves with the mouse
    • After a few minutes, you receive the following message:

Title bar: login process failed create the dialog box options security.
Message text (with X-red): failure - Security Options

    • The only button available is the OK button. When I click on the button, Windows is displayed again, but it is completely insensitive (move the pointer). Wait long enough and repeat the sequence preceding.
    • The only thing I can do is stop hard by dint of power off. When I have the power back and reboot, everything seems back to normal, until the next time.

I have tried the following options:

    • restarted the system and you press F8. So I tried to run the system restore. But in doing so, I got a different error message:

Title bar: the disk OS (C :) has errors. )
Text of the message: Windows has detected corruption on OS (C :) file system. You should check the drive for errors.
Action line: check the disk for errors

    • I clicked on the above action line and the disk check has started, but after about 20 minutes, it got stuck at one point and didn't move forward despite me waiting for 3 hours.
    • Tired of waiting I finally canceled everything.
    • So I decided to restore my laptop to factory settings. After restoring the system to the factory settings that I was hoping it would work very well, but he worked the same and error message "failure-security option" is new.
    • Now the system not yet properly starts in safe mode.

I would be grateful if someone from microsoft can help me with this problem that I need my laptop for urgent and important work.

    1. start windows in safe mode, press start and type "msconfig" in the search/run box. go to the services tab, find the 'superfetch' service and uncheck the box next to it. Click OK and restart normally (if you have exactly the same problem, I had - that should fix it).

    2. check in the clean boot state: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
