Display T61p

The display of my T61p has a big crack in the corner and I would like to replace it.

My T61p is the 64578LU model, which means that the display is a  15.4 "resolution TFT 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA +).

I know that there are other T61p models that come with a higher resolution screen (15.4 "TFT with 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA)) with the same graphic card.

Is it not possible for me to buy higher resolution as a replacement screen, and use it in my T61p model? Or is there any connection issues (cable) that would prevent the work plus-res screen?

Thanks for all your comments!

See you soon

Yes. WUXGA (1920 X 1600) uses the same cable, inverter, etc. as your existing screen (WSXGA +).

  • T61p display does not

    Hi all

My wifes laptop, Lenovo T61P when open/turned on this morning sees nothing on the screen. The laptop turns on, you can see the screen turns on, however you may not see anything from the bios to connect the screen... no cursor, or whatever it is never displayed! However, you can see that the lighting of the screen lights up when the laptop turns on. I tried to plug a monitor external, shown however still nothing, I didn't know if I need to see the screen to change the screens.

Please note that although I don't see anything, I can connect to the machine. Once the computer is started, I can hit CTRL-alt-del and enter his password and then I see the hard drive works again. It seems that everything works except the screen. I tried to remove the battery, and now the power button for 30 seconds, which did not help either.

Any help as to what can be the problem and how to solve?

    Thank you

Just an early stage of nVidia GPU failure, when the machine will start and operate intermittently.

Search the Web as well as this forum, you will find thousands of messages about the above question.

    Good luck.

  • T61p: Backlight LCD on but no picture

    Hello

I have a T61p with a WUXGA screen that has stopped working recently.

He started to do it sporadically, but now it is final, the external screen works.

Most of the time it is used with an external display, like 99% of the time, so useful at all.

Thus, using the Hardware manual of Maintenance, I opened the laptop to check the connections.

I was able to check all connections except the LCD video cable,

There is little Ribbon on this subject and he wrote in remove it not, I have no precaution.

Do you know if the band can be removed safely to check the connection and put it back again?

Are there other rooms to check inside the laptop for this problem?

    Thank you.

  • T61p 6460-DVU - nvidia driver unloads randomly

I am a support person office experimented with a few deployments of massive laptops under my belt, and it drives me crazy:

We recently bought about 12 T61p laptop of CDW. It comes to this specification:

T9300(2.5GHz), 2 GB RAM, 160 GB 7200 RPM HD, LCD 15.4 in 1680 x 1050, 256 MB nVIDIA Quadro FX 570 M, CD-RW/DVD-RW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1 Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, secure chip, fingerprint, Li - ion, WinXP Pro 9 c reader

We have upgraded the ram to 4 GB.

The problem, I continue to have is the Nvidia driver randomly discharge itself or hangs and does not appear in the display panel, it said "Nvidia XXX on Thinkpad LCD" instead of "on". No video more acceleration. Windows draw like a 286.

Sometimes the issue is fixed with a complete system shutdown, sometimes it doesn't. He arrived on the dock with a monitor installed and the dock without having a. I tried the latest driver Nvidia for the 570 M on the Lenovo site, no difference. Also tried the new Director of presentation and more recent update of BIOS, no difference. He arrived more than one of the 12 that we bought, several times.

I thought it could have been a corrupted image, I did so I started on the IBM CD recovery. I had installed SP3 of XP, MS office 2007 and some other random applications, of which none had nothing to do with the video card. He did it again, unloaded the driver. shut down and restart disappear that day, but for how long?

I don't know what else to check at this point, so far I have excluded that it is our image of the laptop, because he did the same thing with a freshly restored (after installing SP3).

Monitor resolution or profiles of switching with presentation Manager seems to be a catalyst for it to do, but it does without changing any resolution sometimes as well.

I tried to download the software of nvidia control panel but just using the driver, and which seemed to make it happen less, but there's t - it.

The only thing I have not tried is completely uninstall Manager presentation and do not use it at all. I think it might be a problem with the Director of the presentation and the nvidia card in this laptop, but I have no idea.

Does anyone have advice for me? I already talked to lenovo and their support is worthless. He comes to ask me to send them the laptop. It occurs on several laptops so that will not help me. Support of CEP was a little more helpful, but it's always a dead end.

I just want to post a response here because I found out why the problem occurred, after at least 2 weeks of troubleshooting.

We use a parameter in the boot.ini XP called the "/ 3GB" switch.  This switch allows programs that require a lot of memory to access physical ram more than without it and restricted drivers windows/1 GB of memory (I could be wrong on that, but that's what I said).

Unfortunately, as we discovered - the Nvidia Quadro FX 570 M card do not have this setting, and it doesn't have enough RAM to start correctly when the computer starts.  It then uses the generic adapter "VGASAVE' that windows uses when the video card is not working properly.

There is a tweak to be able to continue to use this switch/3 GB, here called the switch/USERVA, detailed on the microsoft site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316739. I used /USERVA:2950 in the boot.ini file and the card works properly again.

I hope someone on google reads this thread and not wasting so much time that I had to try to solve this problem.  We never had this problem with ATI X 1300/X 1400 in the Thinkpad T60, however.

  • Strange behavior of T61p

Long saga... had a problem for a long time with intermittent closures on drums.

Then one day, the bios of dead feared GPU overture. It was in November, lenovo

graciously fixed the laptop. However, intermittent stop happening always. Got

any income, past yet. Returned again. Was OK for a few weeks, return to

    stop randomly on the batteries.

Long story short, to finish my thesis, I just ran on AC all the time, so it wasn't a problem.

Last week however, things were freezing the crazy random stops, BSOD, in video

Girls games, the works. Thought that something got mucked up, so I amazed the OS. Reinstalled Win7-64,

etc, etc. And we're right to him. Now I get sometimes even the thinkpad bios screen. The system

can start entirely, only to freeze (with video screen displayed and on) a few minutes later. Yes, I did

glimpse a few kernel NVIDIA collisions. Right now, I can't give me reliably

the bios screen. I also had a 4-3-4 or something like beep code for start cycle, then the bios screen came

and I got completely to the login screen. Also getting BSOD and crashes in safe mode.

End RAM, HDD is fine, I'm sort of ideas here. Is this another GPU problem.  Unfortuantely I'm now out of warranty.

Probably will call lenovo to see if they will honor the repair they did two months back.

I want an excuse to cop a 220 X, but I'm just too lazy my T61p and are supposed to separate immediately.

    Thanks in advance!

Quick update, lenovo are honor the warranty, even though it's a bit out of warranty.

I have to say that's the reason why I will always buy thinkpads. If they never break down, there is a

    incredible service behind them.

    Customer for life.

  • T61p OSD problem.

Hello, I recently formatted my HARD drive and installed Windows 7 64-bit edition. Everything works fine, except for one thing - I have no MENU, which means that I do not see my volume when I press the volume keys or the brightness when I press the brightness keys. Anyway, the two sets of keys work, they just will not be displayed (which is too bad, given the fact that I finally rediscovered the menu where you can change the color/font of the OSD).

    Here's the overview:

    ThinkPad T61p

    T9300 C2D 2.5 GHz

    3 GB RAM DDR2

Fujitsu 160 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive

    Windows 7 64-bit Edition

Finally, I * have * downloaded the drivers that are supposed to activate the OSD and they do not work.

    Help is greatly, greatly appreciated!

    same problem here on T61p + Vista x 64

first of all, the OSD utility requires installation FIMS (driver interface management system), which seems also compulsory for all recent versions of the thinkvantage utilities.  the OSD will work if you have installed FIMS and OSD...

but, as the spokora mentioned already, if you try to change the configuration parameters via the tab "on screen Display" (in the Advanced display settings), the OSD produces little dots on the screen, instead of the actual Visual indicators (display brightness, volume, etc.).

However, it is possible to fix (workaround) by changing the registry entry for TPHOTKEY and manually set the value of "size".  change the size through the OSD display properties tab does not retain the parameter, or change the registry value, so that I did make the change via regedit. I chose the same size value set up on one of my older ThinkPad (see capture screen for more details).  restart Vista after making the change and the OSD should work OK after that (just don't try to change the size value via the OSD display properties tab... until that Lenovo patches/updates to date of the utility of the OSD).  other values (color, Timeout, police) seem to be affected by this bug.

BTW, if you prefer a shorter timeout value (less than 1 second) for the OSD, you can also manually configure the timeout via regedit (see screen capture for this too).  I've configured mine to 640ms, because I don't like the OSD lingering on the screen too long.  Note, the FadeoutTime dword hexadecimal default, so simply click the decimal radio button in regedit before you enter a decimal value in milliseconds.

  • T61 screen light screen T61P much dimmer what's happening here?

Have a T61 with resolution max 1920 X 1200, Nvidia GPU of 140.  OS is Vista Ultimate...  The screen is very bright

Also have a T61P with resolution of 1920 X 1200 Nvidia FX 570 M GPU max.  Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate.  The screen is much lower.

    1. the fact that I have a higher resolution on the T61P account for the screen inverter?

    2. a dimmer screen means the backlight is bad on the T61P. ?

Have seen the ads on Ebay for new lighting.   It looks like a real pleasure time to install a.

Screen is not as dark as I can't read but it is much less bright than the T61 with a lower resolution.

Also if I change the resolution on the T61P actual screen size shrinks vertically and/or horizontally.

    What gives?

New settings BIOS display normal high and the screen on the T61P became much brighter.

A lot of things is not easily visible on these Thinkpads.

Wish Lenovo would publish a comprehensive guide to all parameters and pitfalls.  Would be a help to many questions.

  • T61p freeze on winlogon after installing vmware

    Hi forum,

I have a strange behavior after I ve installed the latest vmware workstation. My system:

    -OS = vista Professional x 86

    -System = t61p

After the installation of vmware I reboot the thinkpad, I had the windows logon screen, enter my login credentials and then I got a black screen. The mouse cursor is always visible and displacement, hdd led is lickering, the key "FN + ' even to display context menus for the shortcut. But windows won't load. I have not even wait for 30 minutes. The solution to the difficulty is just to restart in a safe atmosphere and falling back to system restore point before installing vmware.

Can someone help me if I can run vmware on my thinkpad?

    Thank you.

    Final solution to this problem:

-If you are running (as in my case) nod32 (ESET) security (antivirus, firewall, and spyware tool) suite then you add all your vmware. EXE to the list of exclusion within your security suite

-do not install the thinkpad ultranav driver (in my experience, the laptop is no longer enough quickly without this driver, you will never use it anyway).

Now for me the vmware works fine.

Hope it helps someone while facing the same problem.

  • Reminders do not display or stick to the lock screen in iOS10

IOS10 (10.0.1 and 10.0.2), on an iPhone (I use an iPhone 6), reminders are no longer reliable. I had several cases where the callback doesn't show even on the screen lock and many more times when the recall won't 'glue' to screen lock for more than a short period. Before iOS10, when you said to remind you at a certain time or place, the recall would display on the reliable lock screen until she has been marked as "completed".

It is a major issue for people who depend on the application for the important tasks and calendar. There is a thread of any discussion on this point, for some reason, has been marked as "solved" even if a large number of people continues to post telling him that there is a problem for them too (as the thread located here). I wanted to start this new discussion which we hope will remain open until it is effectively resolved.

Thank you!!! This is a HUGE problem!

Since the update I had to reboot my phone EVERY day.

Is the stick of reminders... or they do not. Lately they don't yet show upward. Then other things stick to the lock screen can't get rid of.

Currently this feature on the phone is USELESS
