T61p OSD problem.

Hello, I recently formatted my HARD drive and installed Windows 7 64-bit edition. Everything works fine, except for one thing - I have no MENU, which means that I do not see my volume when I press the volume keys or the brightness when I press the brightness keys. Anyway, the two sets of keys work, they just will not be displayed (which is too bad, given the fact that I finally rediscovered the menu where you can change the color/font of the OSD).

Here's the overview:

ThinkPad T61p

T9300 C2D 2.5 GHz

3 GB RAM DDR2

Fujitsu 160 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive

Windows 7 64-bit Edition

Finally, I * have * downloaded the drivers that are supposed to activate the OSD and they do not work.

Help is greatly, greatly appreciated!

same problem here on T61p + Vista x 64

first of all, the OSD utility requires installation FIMS (driver interface management system), which seems also compulsory for all recent versions of the thinkvantage utilities.  the OSD will work if you have installed FIMS and OSD...

but, as the spokora mentioned already, if you try to change the configuration parameters via the tab "on screen Display" (in the Advanced display settings), the OSD produces little dots on the screen, instead of the actual Visual indicators (display brightness, volume, etc.).

However, it is possible to fix (workaround) by changing the registry entry for TPHOTKEY and manually set the value of "size".  change the size through the OSD display properties tab does not retain the parameter, or change the registry value, so that I did make the change via regedit. I chose the same size value set up on one of my older ThinkPad (see capture screen for more details).  restart Vista after making the change and the OSD should work OK after that (just don't try to change the size value via the OSD display properties tab... until that Lenovo patches/updates to date of the utility of the OSD).  other values (color, Timeout, police) seem to be affected by this bug.

BTW, if you prefer a shorter timeout value (less than 1 second) for the OSD, you can also manually configure the timeout via regedit (see screen capture for this too).  I've configured mine to 640ms, because I don't like the OSD lingering on the screen too long.  Note, the FadeoutTime dword hexadecimal default, so simply click the decimal radio button in regedit before you enter a decimal value in milliseconds.

    Hi guys

I have 3 of these laptops - one died already - it will not charge or turn on by AC only - only put a preloaded battery will allow him to start and run until the battery dies then nada

the other 2 are running OK, but after reading about the Nvidia horror show, I am now very concerned by the remaining 2 laptops

the warranty expired about 11 months ago and I am wondering what are my options to get swapped boards - Intel GPU preference

    Thank you

The actual failure rate is low, there are millions of these made units and even 5 years later he thought less then 1% failed. The biggest problem is the huge amount of boards "repaired" is sold. Once the chip fails, you cannot fix it. There are ways to make them work again, but they never last. If you have never had original systems, it is likely that they will continue to work, but if you need a motherboard intel and cannot find one in your area, I can get them. They are very rare in 15.4 models ", especially if you have a Penryn processor.

To respect your system which will start only out of the battery, which is not a GPU issue, sounds like a bad power on your board circuit. Try removing the battery and the cycle button ten times, a few seconds each time, and then on the last 30 seconds, then plug ac power and see if it will start.

  • T61p heat problem.

Hi, tried to find a search here but I couldn't find one, point me to the correct thread when it exists. BUT...

My t61p Burns whenever I run any 3dprogram, the gpu is pulling too much at ~ 80. When I was on xp I could use the power to scale back any Manager and keep it less than 75, but now that I am on Windows 7, this is not an option. It will often be * beep * off (which I assume is) due to heat issues. and will not be repeated until I unplug and do a battery pull. I use tpfanControl and the profile of smart2 helps a little but not enough to be useful. I dust the laptop regularly, im all out of ideas. Ive heard that there was a lack of t61p batch that came out, don't know if it was the rumor or not.

Any help would be great, thanks.

  • SPA112 & OSD CallerID and VIP722

I have a new SPA112 purchased to improve VoIP FAX.  The unit works analog phone lines and great for fax and for the voice of analog phones.

The ATA is deprived of a distribution end FREEPBX installation and I have after getting it works well, has recently added a source for research of the Cnam complete the CallerID displays information.

An output for CallerID is a dish DVR VIP722 receiver.  The handsets also connected to outputs analog 1 also specifically shows callerID information... Apparently, callerID long strings (or display formats poorly mounted) sent to the TV DVR for OSD (on screen display) of the SPA112 cause the TV in camera.  The TV must be hard-reset to clear the blockage.  It takes about 5 minutes each time.

The blocking source was traced to the Cisco ATA's SPA112.  I substituted a Grandstream HT702 ATA, which has a much shorter and less comprehensive set of configuration settings and note the blocking and absent TV OSD problems are solved.  The problem is that the fax has probably suffered damage...

Someone else noticed this problem and if so, what are the parameters to the Cisco ATA to analyze and/or shorten or better format CallerID information sent to the FXS port to eliminate the problems with the OSD to a dish DVR Receiver?

Thanks for reading, and to offer helpful suggestions.

BTW, my Cisco ATA has the latest firmware upgrade... I use OpenCNAM for callerID name search. Also, it seems to work very well in my PBX to their database of research...

Unfortunately, you did not specify what is wrong with CallerID (e.g. character length or other can cause a blockage of the dish DVR Receiver). Is it not possible to give you a valuable advice.

  • problem of stick two T61p and memory upgrade

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/LNV/board/message?board.ID=T_Series_Thinkpads&thread.ID=37219

Of sktn77a in the thread above - "the question of the"two-stick"(as I know) is only with the T61p with GPU FX570 but it won't hurt to remove a stick for testing purposes and then Exchange."

I just bought a T61p (6457-7WM) with the FX570 - there is 2 GB of RAM for now (1x2Go I guess, but did not check, can I register this software somewhere to save it opens?), running XP pro. What is the prevalence this "two stick" issue, I searched here but do not find much on it. Where can I get information?

I understand that XP can't see only 3 GB but I read if you install 2x2gb - 4 GB it'll actually work with 3.5 GB (which is better than only 3 GB?). Is this true?

When I buy the RAM is better to simply the order of Lenovo? I am technically savvy but did not RAM before upgrading. I remember that it is good to do the same brand? Don't know what specs on the RAM, I need if you could save me reading that would be great.

    Thank you very much

EDIT: Also is there a list anywhere of what makes the lenovo other software pre-installed? Trying to find information on google etc. when selections for the Base software selector was not simple. I ended up installing XP with factory settings deselect all options selection of basic software but not I have a device that is not installed driver and I'm puzzled as to what it could be. There is nothing in the BSS, which suggests that she's involved with the drivers. Thanks again.

    msk14,

The question of referenced memory is limited to T61p models, and it's a matter of tolerance, which means that it appears on all systems.   Generally, he is met where the two dimm slots are filled, and the user runs intensive 3D graphics.  Manufacturing variances in memory, individual systems before indroduction of variations in the game and an update or application requirements can causes slightly different symptoms.  Wouldn't this be a concern and hold you back what let it be.

You could certainly run 2 X 2 config and having two same size modules can provide a performance boost.  I would pay just pay attention to the specs on the speed of the memory.  Of course, I will officially recommend Lenovo memory because it is proven and supported by the warranty of the system which facilitates the events of service - without exclusions, or a question about the fault.

However, some source memory OEM customers and I am sure that others can chime in with the opinion on the brand and the source.

    Best regards

  • E5550 - problem post-OSD SCCM

    Hi guys,.

I'm having a problem with our new E5550 with SCCM deployment and the driver's cabin.

No problem with WinPE and our image has already the 1.11 update inside KMDF, but I still get the error:

"Windows cannot configure one or more system components. To install Windows, restart the computer, and then restart the installation. »

    After the installation.

Remove all but the network drivers works fine. This is a common problem or does anyone else have experience with this?

As a side not we also have new 7350, 9030, 9020 and the Dell driver came Pro 11, which all rely very well using their packs.

    Thank you!

  • Cannot save the T61p XP/SP3 - Power Manager problems, programs, limited systems available

Hi all - when I got this - Rockin '-mobile initially I could put my own power plans without problem.  Now it won't save my new powerschemes.  I try to create one, to complete the last step, and then the power mode is not in the drop-down list.  I read somewhere on the Web that this may be due to SP3.

Also, the only one I have access to power management are reading video and performance.  I tried to uninstall the power manager and the DLL associated with and then put it back, but that did not help.  Also, I don't see any reference to this problem to be solved.  Thanks in advance.  This gets really annoying as I like to use as little energy as possible since I quite often use the computer on battery power.

Method 1: Use the Powercfg.exe utility to restore the default power mode

  • T61p died suddenly. So sick of these problems!

It is the 3rd bad experience with my T61p since I bought it in August 2008. Less than 18 months.

    1. the Palm cracked within three months of purchase. After many telephone conversations, he was replaced by Lenovo for free.

    2. last month (December 2009), the famous FRU 42 T 4511 battery died suddenly without significant deterioration and it is not included in the replacement program.

    3. tonight, when I went back to the computer just after 30 minutes, I saw a totally black screen. I thought he was asleep, but he could not wake up. So I forced to close. When later, I pressed the power button, nothing happened. The only 2 things were the light of power and load.

Fortunately, I bought a 3 year warranty. So I called Lenovo and said something. I removed all power supplies (in fact only 1 because the battery already dead) and you press the power button for at least 15 seconds. Then, still nothing. I'll call Lenovo tomorrow morning and see how my computer will be repaired.

Again, this is my last computer purchased from Lenovo.

    Track update

As expected, a young man called me the morning, 28 Jan and came home. He used 4 screwdriver to remove at least 50 screws. Finally, the motherboard was removed and replaced by a new one. After putting all the pieces together, the young man has tested my T61p briefly. It worked. But Vista says I was victim of counterfeit software. I just call Microsoft to activate Vista.

Not too bad. But I still buy nothing from Lenovo due to the very bad experience of the battery.

We injected the most recent pilot network to download the drivers to hp.com and driver still more recent intel.com (both drivers judged separately) to the boot image.

The driver is (even though I'm aware that the chip is now called 218, it still bears the name of the 217 driver):

    12.12.80.1950

    12.12.80.19

    How can we solve this?

I answer my own op, in case someone else might have trouble with this:

This man was right! (see LINK below)

For deployment of HP EliteBook 840 G2 with SCCM 2012 R2 Windows 7 , you need the driver for Windows 8.1 and newer OS' are injected to the boot image (not the Sysprep one).

  • TouchSmart 610: My Touchsmart OSD Error Message screen

I get the following error message:

TouchSmart HP My Display OSD has stopped working.

A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

No solution was ever provided. Can someone tell me why this is happening and how can I stop it?

    Thank you

    Hi there @ArnieBa,

That the Forums are with you!  I understand that the HP My Display software no longer works for you.  I'm happy to help you with this.

Check some models of the 610, I found that for those I have looked at there are the drivers and utilities for Windows 7 and 8, but not for Windows 10.  Please report the full product for your computer number, so I can check for your specific model. Check out the following, if you need assistance with this information.  HP desktop PC - how can I find my model number, serial number or product?

Assuming that your model does not have specific Windows 10 drivers, then you can always try reload the driver or the software of my display, such as an update of Windows 10 maybe breaking the application.  Another choice would be to try to use the system restore to load a previous group of system settings from an era where the application worked in Windows 10, assuming you have an available for use valid restore point.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • Qosmio F50 - Volume OSD Bar missing

    Hello all,.

Although I searched and found some information on this particular issue, I couldn't find any solution yet.

As far as I remember, immediately after I turned on the F-50 for the first time, I could see on the screen display (OSD) indication of the "volume bar", as I turned the volume knob.

Running Vista 32 on a F50-10 q (Spanish model), updated to the latest version of the BIOS, etc, but the Volume OSD ONLY works on Media Center, which is really strange to me.

So the question is simple, what driver do I need to reinstall in order to have the Volume Bar OSD whithin the Office?

Thanking in advance and apologizing for the English native and of course begging for an answer... it would be so difficult, right?

    Jose Torquemada

    Hello Jose

Of course, it is not easy to say why you don't see more. The fact is that this kind of thing is controlled by Toshiba specific tools and utilities. I don't really know which is responsible for this, but you should try remove and reinstall the package of added value.

This package contains several different applications and I hope that one of them is responsible for this function. Check it out and please let us know if the problem is resolved.
