  • Sierra: Finder does not display the modified files

I just upgraded all my Macs and minis to Sierra 10.12 and have run on something that looks like buggy.

My usual use of a Mini special is transcoding many video files, and I have a collection of (painfully tedious) shell scripts that manipulate file names, do the transcoding and moves the files to one directory to another to make this work. In * most * folders that I see in the Finder when a file is moved to the directory it shows in the Finder correspondent discovered, but in * some * of them, the Finder does not update when a new file is moved to the underlying directory, is renamed or deleted entirely.  For example, I see there are 28 video files to be converted into a directory named FLOOR TRANSCODE using ls - ls in the terminal, but only 6 looking at the same folder in the Finder.

These scripts have been working for several years on this material under El Capitan and Yosemite.

Records I've noticed so far are all in the root of the drive HD server, not under no/Users. Finder appears to display all files when displaying the files moved to USB external drives for storage after transcoding. Another element that might be relevant, is that my normal view of the mac is via RDP (Remote Desktop "headless", no physical monitor in use).

    Have you noticed something similar?

This Mac Mini is late 2012, MacOS Sierra 10.10

I'm not much of what you have written (for example, I don't know what "RDP").

In any case, based on the title of your post, I will answer how to find files "changed" in the Sierra of MacOS.

I just use the search box and type "Date: today".

  • external drive no connection/display in the finder

Just updated to macOS Sierra, and my external drive is no longer appears in the Finder or in my office. Even disk utility will not display it. It has been used for Time Machine.

Fixed by closing, connect my external drive and then go back to the top. I think the problem is that when I upgraded to Sierra, I don't have my drive connected.

  • Windows in the Finder display broken images but not files

MacBook Pro 5,3; 1 TB HD, 8 GB of RAM, 250 GB aftermarket SSD drive replace optical drive. 10.9.5 running on the SSD drive.

It is a weird problem. Finder windows do not display content, rather display an image initially as a screenshot of the file includes. It's confusing, but say you have the < username > folder open. It appears to display all the right folders. Then you click on one of these files, such as Documents, to open it. Instead of display what is in the Documents folder, it displays a "screenshot" of the < username > folder. Now, if you drag this folder around the screen, when it passes the edges of the screen, the fragments of the image borders. The picture below shows.

Opening a file or a folder on it will leave an image that above this mess. Screenshots do not work. A double click on the files on the office sometimes opens the file opens sometimes nothing, sometimes opens another file on the desktop and sometimes opens something that I don't know where it comes from. But otherwise, the functions of the computer normally - applications work and the sidebar of finder windows works properly as you can tell from the path below bar.

And it seems to be limited (at least right now) to my user. I tried an account that I keep around for troubleshooting, and it seems to be affected.

I threw the finder preferences (it's good that I know how to get to preferences with no visual cues) and restarted the finder and restarted the computer. I used TechTool Pro to check the RAM (not a very complete test, but I would think if it's RAM more than touch the Finder) and video.

I have a good backup and am ready to reload the OS, but because it affects only the finder and in my account, I don't know I'm not just to restore the problem. I am running a scan with Sophos antivirus right now, but I ran a few weeks ago and saw nothing (as expected).

I just uninstall TotalFinder, but he was on the computer for years, but turned off during the last months. It JUST started tonight. I haven't used the computer since probably yesterday and I haven't seen ANY sign of it then.

I don't know where else to look at.

  • iPhone will not be displayed in the finder

I'm trying to move some of the photos from my phone to a file on my computer and my phone will not be displayed in the tab "currencies" in the finder. It's an iPhone 6 and it is connected through the USB port. I know this isn't an error connection because when I plug it in it costs and is trying to import my photos in the section 'photos' from my computer. I went into the settings in the finder and all turned on and it will not always be displayed. Why is this?

Because Apple has decided that OS X is smarter than you and me. They removed this option on the latest versions of Mac OS X (my devices do not appear more, grrrr...). Try instead to use Image Capture and import or remove photos from there.

  • Customization of the preview of the Finder or the Display Options tab

    Hi guys,.

I'm looking for a way to customize the information displayed in the tab preview Finders or in the Display Options for the Finder.

I deal with a lot of video files (about 6 TB) and I'd LOVE a way to get the Finder displays which Codec to use the files. Cmd + i to see this info in the section of the Finder's ' Get Info', you can, if the information is already there and Finder is reading. I would like a way to add a custom column for the options that says "Codec" or to have that information appear in preview just beside where the resolution of the video are already displayed. Y at - it a third-party application that would make this integration in Finder? Or y at - it a script that can be written in the code of the OS to add these fields? I have 3rd party apps that can display this record in the batch lists, but I use just Finder (a step less) especially since the Finder already stores this info, I want just a way to put these data out in front where I have to cmd + i to dig for it.

    Thank you!!

You can do it in the 'Movies' folder, on the main road from the computer.

using the 'Movies' folder with the list view:

Control-click on the title bar of the column, indicated by the red arrow (as above).

you will get the options to add four categories at the helm of the column:

Move it to where it belongs - in your folder. If you don't know where it is so, look for using Spotlight.

How can I change the name of the BASE DIRECTORY? without loss of all files, programs and information.

IM alredy see this: change the name of the OS X user account and the name of folder on your Mac - Apple Support

but nothink on the name of the BASE DIRECTORY.

A user of instant messaging on this MBP and administrator also me.

Step 2 under Lion or later:

Go to the folder on the startup disk users. The users folder contains the base folder of the account that you are renaming. Rename the folder for this account, and note the old name and the new name. When you rename the folder, you will be prompted to enter the name administroator and the password that you used to connect.

But note that you must be logged in as a different user you are trying to rename. So, you will need to create a new account and allow him to administer the computer. Connect to this user and follow the instructions in the link you provided.

  • How to get the icons to display correctly in the Finder?

At the time of the "classic" Mac OS, if the icons are not correctly display in the Finder, we could 'rebuild the desktop file' to correct the problem. I've recently updated to Yosemite, and most things work well, but for some reason, most of the files in the Finder .webloc now show as blank icons (but not all; a few show the correct icon). There is no model, I can see: some very old .webloc files now show a white icon (where I know that their icons used to be correct), while the most recent show the icon of correct - although I just created four (by dragging the URL of the Safari, the usual method) which are all empty. Sometimes they appear with the older icon, with the symbol @ (although those who seem to have changed vacuum after running and restart maintenance). I tried from an external disk, repair permissions and repair the file system, as well as cleaning with the utility of Maintenance (which clears the web browser and other caches), nothing works. Does anyone know how to get the computer to display these icons correctly?

    May be a corrupt .plist.

Make a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder.  Select the library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.desktop.plist.  Move the .plists on your desktop.

Relaunch the Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works fine, delete the plists from the desktop.

If the same, return the .plists to where you obtained since, by crushing the latest.

Thanks to leonie for certain information contained in this.

  • problem with the Finder - files and folders displaying incorrectly

After acquiring a new iMac, I noticed a problem with the Finder - files and folders are displayed wrong (see table).

This is what happens always after the files have been transferred from one folder to another. I was reminded of my days of using Mac OS in the 1980s when automatic setting of files was not so "automatic." I use Mac OS for decades and I don't remember the last time I had to think about GUI problems like that.

Other problems in the graphical display of files and folders were introduced, such as when you have hundreds of files in a single folder, you end up deleting about 30 to 40 of them say in a particular section, and you end up with gaps of the ChartSpace where files used to be, that is the remaining files automatically rearrange themselves (fill in these gaps) - never. A week later, you open the folder, and the gap of GUI is still there.

I decided to do a clean install of the operating system but nothing works.

Is there some setting in Prefs I'm missing?

    Hi there highland99,

Looks like your folder icons are not accommodating themselves automatically you plan to do. To me, this indicates that you have organize by the None value in the view menu. You can change the way files and folders are prepared automatically by clicking on view > reorganize by and selecting how you would like that fixed.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

  • Search a directory of data and display the data that is within the range of dates

    Hello

I have a full idrectory of data from overtime, and I think of search in the directory and display the data files for specific dates. I only started this encoding yet but I figure I'll take the brain of some SMEs here labview and start in the right direction. My goal is to go through a comprehensive directory of data taken for a month or MORE csv files and select the data to process and display office files the date of its registration. If I take the data of last week, last month or last minute, it should just treat as an exact or more.

Please help me get started on the right foot

End date will be probably greater than the start date, right? So, end date must connect at the entrance to the upper limit. Then wire in the range? to the conditional terminal of a tunnel of conditional indexation.
