  • White loading bar appears after the splash screen. TAKES FOREVER TO FILL!

    I recently formatted my windows xp because it was slowing down. I do this once a year and its good because my newly formatted computer takes 30 sec or less to load. However this time I formatted, after the screen intel and BIOS, a black scren appears for 1 minute, then an alternating black and white bar appears at the bottom. no text, nothing. This bar fills up until halfway, then the "xp" logo appears and the computer loads normally. the problem is that the loading bar takes 7 min + join to halfway. so my newly formatted computer load in 8-9 minutes rather than 30 seconds like its supposed to!

    I tried to reformat, reinstall xp, but the same thing is happening: s

    Thanks for posting. Please, try the following.

    1. place your Windows XP installation CD and start to her...
    2. Press any button to start the Windows installation (don't worry... we do not actually use the installer at this point)
    3. wait a few moments for the installation program starts, when you see repair an installation of Windows XP using the Recovery Console, and then press the R key
    4. wait until you see this screen, enter the number of your master installation. (Typically 1 to C:\Windows)
    5. press ENTER.
    6. If you are prompted to do so, enter your administrator password. If you don't have one, leave the field blank and press to enter.
    7. from the command prompt, type: chkdsk/r (note the space between chkdsk and / r)
    Allow it to complete undisturbed.
    8. remove the disc, then restart.

    That sounds really serious. You can try to reset the bios by default (refer to the operating manual how to do) and then try to start it again.

    Otherwise, the only thing you could do is to bring the machine to a local service for a hardwarecheckup partner (or repair).

  • HP Pavilion DV6-6117dx - horizontal flickering lines appear after the display turns off automatically

    The DV6-6117dx model (as well as other HP Pavilion laptops) have experienced a problem where the screen will display a flickering, horizontal line to the top of the screen, after it has been automatically disabled (note: not in sleep or Standby Mode).

    There is a setting to "off the display of [X] minutes" in power options.  I have my DV6-6117dx value dim the screen after 10 minutes and turn it off after 15 minutes of inactivity.  Sometimes, but not always, when I move the mouse to turn the screen back on, a couple of flickering horizontal lines will appear at the top of the screen.  It is very annoying, and the only way to remove them and to have the screen back to normal is one.) put the computer to sleep and wake it or b.) restart the entire system.

    Everything by putting the laptop to sleep and wake-up is not a huge problem, I wouldn't do that, period.  I owned a laptop Toshiba for about 6 years and never had a problem with her like this (the reason why I bought a new laptop was because my old man was 6 years old and the technology was outdated a lot, a lot).

    HP says it's a software problem, but it did come with a way to fix it yet (at least not that I've found).  I ask all the 'Experts' out there if they have a final way to solve this common issue experienced by some models of HP laptops?  I said to uninstall and reinstall video drivers without success.  I said to install video drivers only to AMD, and then only to HP, and then only from Windows Update, but none of these solutions worked.  I said to update BIOS, but it does not solve the problem.  I told him to try to restore the system to the factory settings, but this did not help.  It is obviously a software problem, but nobody at HP seems to have a definitive solution, how to fix it.  Is my only hope to return to my laptop to be replaced by a different model entirely?

    I hope that someone out there has an answer, it's a common issue that I know a lot of owners of portable HP experienced.  Thank you!

    I checked my file/etc/hosts. It is 'clean' after the default entries (no mention of any adobe or similar).

    I checked the GlobalSign Root CA, it is installed and active.

    I updated to MacOS X El Capitan for a few months, I suspect that is what causes the problem.

    I bought initially LR4 in April 2012, that still works and I can install and run on my new OSX El Capitan, no problem (except that it is old and has all the features of LR6).

    I bought the upgrade to LR6 in may 2015 and received a new n serial for this. It worked fine on my OSX Mavericks, but after upgrading to El Capitan LR6 asked me to validate whenever I started it, it failed with my improved serial no, but I was able to get to LR6 closing simply the activation window.

    Starting this weekend, it is not possible to enter LR6 more with above method. I get the message that Adobe is unable to validate my series or maximum authorized computers are reached, which is strange, as I have only been installed on one (one current with now updated OSX).

    On Adobe page support is it said to contact support, which turns out is not so easy. I phoned in a number that is given to me to buy LR, but no luck. Machine operator is a dead-end. This forum is the only option that comes to me when I ask for support on my pages / my adobe account.

    How to get support?

    I have a Sony XAV-701HD installed in my 09 Ram. I have had for a while now and still have problems even after the last update of the firmware. Since I installed the radio, the stations would change when I turn off the key and then restart the truck. Ususally a station off where I was listening. Then I noticed that when you listen to a CD, if I stop the truck, stop, and restart, I have sometimes no sound from the CD unit that change source to something else then back to CD. In addition, it seems to take an eternity for the CD start playing when I insert one, or when I start the truck every morning. Sometimes the CD start just up, other times not. Now, I've added SiurisXM to the unit, and I noticed that when I turn the key off the coast, and then back on, the device will not be playing Sirius Music until I have changing source, let the next launch of source for play, then switch back to sirius. I'm a professional installer, I know all my wiring is good, everything works. My Kenwood has worked perfectly in the same truck for 2 years before I changed to the Sony. Any ideas?

    Hi guys! Thanks to all of you for the cooperation and ready to help. I have summarized all your advice, so the following 3 steps unravel the problem for FF8 and do my tests to run fine:

    1. Create and configure a new FF profile, using these instructions and suggestions . Don't put your FF to the default profile at the end.
    2. Then follow the first 6 steps by SafeBrowser (see above) to the new profile. Switch to the default profile (in firefox - p).
    3. Don't forget to use your new profile when you run the selenium Server (-firefoxProfileTemplate command line parameter) or the value of selenium to use this profile when starting a browser to Salenece.

    It could be a video driver or screen resolution problem.
