DNG not recognized by photoshop

I have two cameras... a 16mp Sony A580 and a Panasonic FZ200 12mp. When I put these through Adobe DNG Convertor (version 7.2.0.46), this is what I see... DNG raw (size around 17meg), Sony (size around 17meg); Panasonic DNG raw (size around 13meg), (size around 47 meg). This disparity is normal?

I am a new user of Lightroom (version 5.7) and I noticed that when I import, there is an option to "Copy as DNG" then maybe I don't need to use the DNG Converter. However, when I select this option, the DNG product from Panasonic images is strangely little about 12 meg. Also, when I try to open them in Photoshop CS3, I get "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".

So my main question, that is why DNG is produced by Lightroom much smaller than DNG produced by the DNG Converter? No doubt, they use the same plug-in? I found a bug in Lightroom?

Thanks in advance...

Oh, and I would add, CS3 cannot read the DNG with built-in lens corrections. If you use the DNG 8.8 converter, you need to set the option "compatibility." That will bring back you to the great 'linear raw' DNG
