DNS problems when VPN Client connection is Active

Using the latest version of the Cisco VPN client. Support remote clients... when I VPN on client sites I lose connectivity to my local exchange server. The DNS client appears to become primary on a VPN connection, where he bring himself to the public address of our exchange server. In the Transport settings, I have "allow LAN access. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Whether or not the local lan access is allowed is a setting on the device remote, not only to your customer. To see if you get local lan access, look under the tab Details of statistics and the road.

  • PIX: Cisco VPN Client connects but no routing

    Hello

We have a Cisco PIX 515 with software 7.1 (2). He accepts Cisco VPN Client connections with no problems, but no routing does to internal networks directly connected to the PIX. For example, my PC is affected by the IP 172.16.2.57 and then ping does not respond to internal Windows server 172.16.0.12 or trying to RDP. The most irritating thing is that these attempts are recorded in the system log, but always ended with "SYN timeout", as follows:

    2009-01-06 23:23:01 Local4.Info 217.15.42.214% 302013-6-PIX: built 3315917 for incoming TCP connections (172.16.2.57/1283) outside:172.16.2.57/1283 inside: ALAI2 / 3389 (ALAI2/3389)

We tried to activate and deactivate "nat-control", "permit same-security-traffic inter-interface" and "permit same-security-traffic intra-interface", but the results are the same: the VPN connection is successfully established, but remote clients cannot reach the internal servers.

I enclose the training concerned in order to understand the problem:

I join all the details of the cryptographic algorithms because the VPN is successfully completed, as I said at the beginning. In addition, routing tables are irrelevant in my opinion, because the inaccessible hosts are directly connected to the internal LAN of the PIX 515.

  • Cisco ASA 8.4 (3) remote access VPN - client connects but cannot access inside the network

I have problems to access the resources within the network when connecting with the Cisco VPN client for a version of 8.4 (3) operation of the IOS Cisco ASA 5510. I tried all new NAT 8.4 orders but cannot access the network interior. I can see traffic in newspapers when ping. I can only assume I have NAT evil or it's because the inside interface of the ASA is on the 24th of the same subnet as the network interior? Please see config below, any suggestion would be appreciated. I configured a VPN site to another in this same 5510 and it works well

  • Linksys Cisco VPN Client connection drops

I have a Linksys BEFVP41 V2. I have a PC running Windows XP SP2 with customer VPN Cisco 5.0.00.0340. I have a problem when I log in the VPN client with my employer network. It seems to be ok. No problem to do the job, hit their proxy server, etc.. All of a sudden, the connection drops. It seems to 'freeze' the network. No surfing, without PuTTY. Sometimes 5 minutes after the connection or 3 hours later. I have to disconnect the VPN connection, and then reconnect. What could be the problem? My MTU is set to 1432. The Windows Firewall has exceptions for ports 10000, 4500 and 62515. I have a network in place at 172.20.x.x... not the default or typical 10.x.x.x network. Firmware is 1.01.04 on the router.

  • VPN Client connection - Hong Kong to the United States.

We have a PIX 515E with active VPN. In the United States, users have no problem connecting with the VPN client.

However, we have a user in Hong Kong, who has problems. It can connect to the external interface and the connection. The user is assigned an IP address from the pool of reserve, but cannot connect to our server here in the States or internal ping even one of the ip addresses.

Is there another config that needs to be done?

    Yes, the do config mode:

    ISAKMP nat-traversal

Save with: write mem - and your done.

Download now your username in Hong KONG to establish the connection of the VPN client and try and ping a server in-house on your side. And make sure that the MS XP firewall is disabled.

Let me know how you go and if this does not solve your problem please rate another post could seek the same solution!

  • Problem with "vpn sysopt connection permit.

    Hi all

I would like to ask you for advice with "vpn sysopt connection permit". I have a problem with by-pass-access list (acl) in the INSIDE interface. As I understand it and I'm going to use this command, there is no need to especialy allow traffic in the access list for the INSIDE and I can control the filter-vpn traffic. But in my case it's quite the opposite, I want particularly to this INTERIOR acl traffi. When I allow this traffic inside acl L2L tunnel rises, hollow traffic flow vpn-fltr ane acl that everything is OK. But when I do not allow that this traffic is inside of the rule with Deny statement in acl INSIDE block traffic and tunnel goes ever upward. Part of the configuraciton which you can view below.

Please let me know if I'm wrong, or what I did wrong?

    Hello

The command "sysopt connection permit-vpn" is the default setting and it applies only to bypass ACL interface to the interface that ends the VPN. It would be connected to the external network interface. This custom has no effect on the other interfaces ACL interface.

So if you initiate or need to open connections from your local network to remote network through the VPN L2L connection then you will need to allow this traffic on your LAN interface ACL networks.

If the situation was that only the remote end has launched connections to your network then 'sysopt permit vpn connection' would allow their connections around the external interfaces ACL. If If you have a VPN configured ACL filter, I think that the traffic will always accompany against this ACL.

Here are the ASA reference section to order custom "sysopt"

  • VPN client connection script

Is it possible to run a login script that makes things like drive mapping when a user signs in their business with the VPN client network.

You can enable the 'Auto Connect before Logon' feature in the client and you should be able to connect to the hub, connect on the NT domain and run scripts.

  • The VPN client connection

Is it possible to configure the VPN client to set up some sort of login and password so when you run, connects automatically without writing the user name and password.

This must be the vpn client without making any changes on the vpn server.

No idea how to do this?

    Kind regards

to 4.0.2 4.6 & 4.8 Yes - in the profile .pcf file, make sure that

    SaveUserPassword = 1

This will keep the user name & password in the profile, when you click on it - it should fine connection.

You must also activate the user store password: -.

In the pix / asa - under the client VPN profile:-

    allow password-storage

  • Limits of pix 506 for VPN client connections

Hello. My company is looking to move away from using Microsoft's RRAS to workers to remote VPN connections. We have a 506th Pix currently serving 2 site VPN connections and client connections. Nobody knows what the limit for concurrent client vpn connections on a 506e and if having 10 to 20 clients connected at the same time (on a user base of 100 +) would cause problems. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

There is no license for the number of connections limit, this is more a limitation of resources. Check that the data sheet a 506E can handle 16 MB of 3DES VPN. It's marketing plug so the actual throughput will be lower.

    Hope that helps.

  • VPN client connected but no ping nor access to privat network

    Hello

I have a 1802w installed, a VPN client that can connect to the router and L2L connection, which works very well.

On the router, I see that the client is connected, but no traffic passes. In sh crypto ipsec, I see that traffic is decrypted, but no packtets are encypted.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I have the confs and debugs attached. Thanks for the help in advance.

    Erich

    Erich,

Looking at your configuration, two things:

1 - is the current running configuration. I see your Tunnel L2L is configured with an address of correspondence of 101, but I don't see a 101 ACL set on the router.

    2. your Split Tunnel must be reconfigured. Which means, the source and destination must be exchanged.

    SplitList extended IP access list

    permit ip 192.168.2.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.111.0 0.0.0.255

    Split Tunneling

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/Tech/tk59/technologies_configuration_example09186a00800a393b.shtml#Con4

Also, the IP address pool you assign to clients, ensure that they are not part of a LAN on your side. If so, you can then run in routing problems.

    Kind regards

    Arul

  • VPN Client connection terminated

I am new to Cisco PIX and I'm having a problem with the removal of the connections. We use a 515e on 6.2 and my laptops use VPN Client 4.0 and Radius to IAS on W2K3 Server. About 30 minutes, a window appears saying "secure VPN connection is completed by a peer. "Reason: (reason unspecified peer). I've combed through the configuration settings and the settings of the Cisco and my connection on the Radius Server and am unable to find anything to help. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Warren

On if the PIX515 you do a 'show vpngroup' which is the ' time max "setting configured for? If it is not configured, you can do a max of vpngroup-time for the clients of the group. You can also set the idle max here too. In troubleshooting, maybe set to 3600 seconds (1 hour) to see if you are disconnected. Then adjust your idle down time (you can set it to 0 if ever you want clients idel time out) and see what happens.

  • Problem Cisco VPN Client with local authentication

I configured PIX for the Cisco VPN client for remote access. It must be connected and also inside network is accessible. It is without any authentication username. It works well with a vpngroup name and the password for the vpngroup, configured on PIX and also on the Cisco VPN client. (version 4.6)

When I configure crypto for local authentication, it did not work. configuration is as follows.

#crypto card: name of the map of local authentication client

    I created a user with private = 15.

Client VPN must be connected, and then it pops up a window user name and password. After giving these details. The user is not authenticated.

Are there patterns more to do in / isakmp / ipsec / aaa configurations.

    Thank you

  • VPN clients connecting to the site to site VPN

    Hi all

I'm currently configured my firewall outside interface VPN closing the point for two clients VPN and Cisco VPN site-to-site. What I found is that when I Client VPN, I can't access the devices on the site-to-site VPN. I think that the PIX does not allow this kind of connections, because it requires routing on the same interface. Can someone point me to some docs on ORC who can help me in this situation. Thanks in advance for your help.

the restriction has been resolved with pix v7, and the related command is "permit same-security-traffic intra-interface".
