do abbreviations of long words via sql

Hello

I have a situation where I have to abbreviate the names of long module in abbreviations.

For example: value and management system Service that should be abbreviated for the USMS.

More there is a condition, if the module name is not longer, more the width specified to my look at a display of field, I want to display the name as it is. As "Accounts" aren't long over 10 then its usable tank

I need to a function or a script to do it.

You don't need regular expression. Just use TRANSLATE to replace lowercase alphabets and white spaces (I hope that you will not have numbers and special characters if yes then we may have to go for the regular expression). And according to the LENGTH to check the length of the string before applying the change.

Something like that

When length (str) > 10 then translate (str, 'A abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz', ' A') - case else end str

  • Special characters could not load DB via SQL * MORE

    Hi, I have a pl as .accidentally sets sql script which will insert data in database. The question is there are some records are missing and these missing records contains a special character: Sansao and Strasse. The strange was if I run the script via F5 (Toad), all data can be inserted successfully but run through SQL * MORE (Toad), all records that contain special characters are not inserted.

    Anyone here know why it didn't load these special characters via SQL * MORE?

    Probably because you have given unicode (multi byte charsets) you read with a customer of standard single-byte character set.

    It's SILLY to loading data using SQL * more. It's the wrong tool used for loading the data. It does not support the bind variable. It doesn't support liaison in bulk. It does not support direct path inserts. It is not SQL * Loader.

  • data via sql dev store

    Hello
    I've given cluster and can store files and it is clustering ID in the new database using the ODM. I group these data via SQL dev. Oracle again but I'm not for any folder for the storage of cluster ID. How do I? can I put something in response or detail node?

    Hi Nasiri,
    In your description, you have only the Cluster node as entry in the node to apply it. You should also connect a node type of source of data as well. Just to get this to work, why not connect the source of input data to your Cluster node to the node to apply it. If the node to apply it should have 2 inputs, a node of type of data source, but also a model node.
    Thank you, Mark

  • How the "automatic formatting" a very long word in InDesign?

    I try to insert/import/paste text in InDesign. The text contains a few - strings of text (or "words") with more than 3000 characters. This causes InDesign to have in excess of text and is not not be able automatic flow of the text.

    When I import (or paste) the text I am shift + click on (I have also tried option + shift + click) to of the auto-enchainement downwards along the pages, but the automatic flow stop on page 16 (where the 'words' long begin to occur), although my file contains more than 200 pages. I get the little red sign below in the last text box, which indicates that I have overset text.

    I tried then click the Red sign and continue the flow of the text on the following pages, but I find myself just with text boxes empty on the following pages, each time I try click on the Red sign.

    I removed along 'words' and tried again and now InDesign doesn't seem to have a problem with my text. If the problem is caused by the long "words."

    The text format is not important (I tried .rtf and .txt) and InDesign is able to recognize both.

    I can not however, insert spaces or end of line in these long 'words', since we "words". The number of characters in each 'word' is important, and if I start to add extra spaces or end-of-line charecters he would change the "words".

    I have a lot of places in the text where I have these long 'words', and I would avoid too much clicking and inserting to work around this problem.

    I am running InDesign CS3 on a Macintosh 10.5.8

    I would be grateful if someone has an idea how to work around these.

    Thanks in advance for your time and help

    My suspicion is that they are, in fact, nonbreaking hyphens, but I hope that the OP can enlighten us.

    I must say that some screenshots can be useful, too.

  • Search for several words in SQL

    I want to be able to search on multiple words in sql.  If someone entered in the field search for several words like "industry of corn for biofuels". I want to return all records that has one of these words in them.  Here is my code: (brings back only the sentence and not individual words in the database)

    and)
    path as < cfqueryparam cfsqltype = "cf_sql_varchar" value="%#arguments.searchterms#%" > "
    or
    the body as < cfqueryparam cfsqltype = "cf_sql_longvarchar' value="%#arguments.searchterms#% ">"
    or
    Summary as < cfqueryparam cfsqltype = "cf_sql_varchar" value="%#arguments.searchterms#%" > "
    or
    the author as < cfqueryparam cfsqltype = "cf_sql_varchar" value="%#arguments.searchterms#%" > "
    )

    something like this:

    Select somefields

    of sometables

    where 1 = 1

    and

    (

    or concat (Field1, Field2, etc.) like ' %#word #% ".

    or 1 = 2

    )

    Just to let you know, it will be slow.   Also, if one of these fields accept NULL values, you will have to deal with that.

  • Need to import via SQL more application advice

    Hello

    I have a sql file.
    I need to import the given in a workspace of some, but I have not access to Apex Builder request to do an import wizard.
    Can I please get some directions making this import via SQL Plus, where can I find documentation in this regard so that I can import successfully.

    Thanks in advance,
    Deepa

    Hi Deepa,

    I understand now, thanks.

    To import an application using SQL * Plus, the workspace must exist (with the ID of the same workspace). The best way to ensure that the workspace ID are the same is to export the workspace to one instance and import it in another.

    In addition, you cannot change the ID of the app through SQL * more - so, if you import the application via SQL * more, either one) this application ID cannot exist, or b) if exists, it must exist in the same workspace that you import into.

    Now - with all these conditions are met, the DBA can only run as a normal SQL through SQL script * more.

  • Get the long Word to continue in the cell without break area

    Hello

    I create a table that includes some codes that are a long string of characters. It would really help I could say the text to just continue in the round and fit into a cell in a table, without having to type a space (which would change the meaning and the appearance of the code) or increase the width of the column.

    It happens naturally in Word:

    Screen Shot 2015-08-14 at 15.05.19.png

    does anyone know how to achieve this in Indesign, please?

    Hi Emma,

    You can try to format your text with the language: "[no language].

    Just like that:

  • Change password P6 EPPM via SQL Developer

    I am able to edit the SQL user password live P6 in SQL Developer and commit chanage.

    I use SQL query - "ADMUSER UPDATE. The USERS DEFINE passwd = 'test123' WHERE USER_NAME = 'test '; »

    But when I try to connect to both new and old P6 password, I get the error "unexpected connection error. Please contact your administrator. »

    Nothing is missing.

    Help, please.

    Hello

    Passwords are encrypted and not stored in plain text, so back to something like "test123" will never work.

    You will need to do is reset to null (do not put quotes around the word NULL).

    After that, you should be able to identify with a blank password and then update a known value.

  • Insertion of a special Spanish Word via unix creates problem

    Hello

    We are on Oracle 10.2.0.4 on Solaris 10. I want to insert a Spanish word in one of my table, and he created a strange question as shown below:
    SQL>desc span_test
     Name                                      Null?    Type
     ----------------------------------------- -------- ----------------------------
     C1                                                 VARCHAR2(100)

    Database characterset:
    WE8MSWIN1252
    I ran this command from Windows machine using sqlplus:
    insert into span_test values('retención');
    1 row created.

    SQL> commit;

    Commit complete.

    SQL > select * from span_test;

    C1
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    retención

    --Now I ran same insert but from solaris box from sqlplus:
    SQL> insert into span_test values('retención');

    1 row created.

    SQL> commit;

    Commit complete.

    --now this new row has junk character in it!
    SQL > select * from span_test;

    C1
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    retención
    retenci¿n

    --now again from Solaris box I set the following NLS setting and ran insert:
    --and by the way I got this hint from one of the post in this forum.
     export NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
    SQL> insert into span_test values('retención');

    1 row created.

    SQL> commit;

    Commit complete.

    --no it no more creates junk data!
    SQL> select * from span_test;

    C1
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    retención
    retenci¿n
    retención  *<--Good value from Solaris box!*
    Running the Solaris insert box is important because DBA Production runs this script in Solaris. My question is that, the setting I used is appropriate and that it is not any other right side effect?
    Asking because my character set of database: WE8MSWIN1252 but to avoid data corruption, I updated the value of nls_lang AMERICAN_AMERICA. WE8ISO8859P1. Is this good?

    Thank you

    There is a mismatch between the regional settings on the Unix machine and the default value, an unspecified value of NLS_LANG on this box.
    WE8MSWIN1252 is a superset of WE8ISO8859P1, sort of conversion must be correct.
    The current issue is the result of the mismatch between locale and NLS_LANG unspecified.

  • The user managed backup hot via Sql

    Hi being a little old school - I'm trying to understand the steps required for a Hotbackup managed through Sql (sorry fans RMAN!)

    I understand that I can save each tablespace in turn (via the necessary ALTER TABLESPACE < x > BEGIN BACKUP and then out of backup)
    I also assume that I simply take a backup of my control file (wither in binary form or trace if necessary)
    I also assume that you do not back up the Redo Logs (since you reset draw on any recovery anyway)

    The bit I'm not sure of is the Undo Tablespace - can be backup in eactly the same way as any other tablespaces?

    Y at - it all components that I need backup (outside the archive logs)

    Thank you
    Jim

    Always provide the Oracle version 4-digit.

    The documentation covers all of the steps required for a manual backup.

    I use the converter online for the first time. My PDF files are the result of analysis, of course, I have images for the pages. • Please help - value of the long column of SQL report required in a separate cell

    Hello.

    I need to create a SQL report with the structure as below:

    Country city vertical Business details for the State (detail desc)
    MY Quincy Healthcare US
    It is a detailed desc value that is displayed in a different cell.
    It is a detailed desc value that is displayed in a different cell.
    It is a detailed desc value that is displayed in a different cell.
    It is a detailed desc value that is displayed in a different cell.
    US MY Braintree, HE
    It is a detailed desc value that is displayed in a different cell.
    It is a detailed desc value that is displayed in a different cell.
    It is a detailed desc value that is displayed in a different cell.

    I came across a solution where you can hide/show the column value in another cell. But my requirement is that it should be displayed when the page opens, and the user will not have to click a button to see the value. This is mainly for their presentations, and printing. so its very annoying for them to click on the buttons so much to see the value of desc of detail for each record. I'm new to Java script, please help

    I'm not sure to understand your needs - you are showing us 2 data lines, lines 7 or 9? You want the long description of detail on the same line, or below?

    I'll go on the assumption that you are showing us two rows, and long descriptions in this example are found along 3 to 4 lines, and you want long descriptions under the details. In this case, I suggest using "column name" models They are much easier to use as they appear when you look at everything first, so bear with me.

    Under 'shared components', select 'Models' and click then on create yellow > button. You create a report model, from scratch. On the last page of the wizard, select "Named column (model line)" for the type of model. This will create a model rather generic (and useless), which you'll have to edit; I don't know why they chose to not send you directly in the editor. When you change it, you will see that the single field whose value is 'Model line 1', and it is set to:

    #1##2##3##4##5#

    To meet your needs with basic features, change it to something in the sense of:

    #COUNTRY##STATE##CITY##VERT#
    #DETAILS#

    Then, you probably want to put something in the position of the column model, such as:

    CountryStateCityVertical Business
    Details

    Applies to whatever you want, of course the CSS styles.

    Using the model is simple: If your report, select the model and make sure that your SQL returns values using the column names specified in your model. Otherwise, you will see "#COUNTRY #" literal text in your report.

    You can get fancy with these, of course, as the application of different styles for alternating rows, but I'll leave that as pretty good to help you get started (I hope).

  • Creating APEX pages via SQL scripts...

    Hi guys,.

    I want to create APEX via Script SQL pages. The main reason for having this option I have couple of applications that contains XML files for the definition of the screen where I can read all the properties of the screen (field types, sizes, legend, etc...)

    Is there a documentation or help tips where I can find the APEX page tables definitions? I found something as WWV tables but I couldn't understand it correctly...

    Any help?

    Thank you
    Osman...

    Check out ApexGen, the Apex Oracle generator. It allows you to use a PL/SQL API to generate a SQL script, similar to an Apex application export file.

    http://sourceforge.NET/projects/apexgen/

    With ApexGen, it does not matter if you have 5 or 500 tables in your database, you can easily generate report for each table, and form pages very quickly.
