  • Satellite Pro C650 can't find our DHCP server

    Hello

    We just recived 8 new Satellite Pro C650 and care about their image.
    When connect us to our network via a cable and boot on LAN of the laptop can not find our DHCP server and so of does not obtain an IP address.

    If we connect to an another laptop\workstation in the same Manor, it works very well.

    All the settings are correct in the BIOS.

    Any ideas.

    Hello

    First of all, you should check if the settings of TCP/IP to connect to the local network.
    Network-> properties-> LAN (local area) connections-> TCP/IP-> properties

    Here, you should check if the options for the IP address, DNS are set to obtain automatically.
    In the advanced settings of TCP/IP in IP settings tab active DHCP must be visible.

    In addition, please check if all firewalls do not prevent the laptop to connect to the local network.

  • Keep the IP if the DHCP server is offline now

    We have a customer who wants to be able to manage the IP addresses of all devices with DHCP, but the devices are supposed to keep their IP forever after the DHCP server has been taken offline. Is this a behavior that we can support on a controller of NOR?

    If this is not a configurable behavior an alternative could be to have controlelr auto configure to the last known IP if no such is acquired... but the VI apply network settings doesn't seem to work if done on the controller itself. Is this correct?

    With NEITHER in Norway (thanks), I found a solution which allows us to implement the required behavior.

    The main problem for us once we need to override the default behavior for DHCP was the fact that the RT apply target Network Settings.vi does not work if it is set to target the same controller as it is running. So how to exchange between DHCP and fixed? Well, it turns out that the network settings are also stored in the file of ni - rt.ini. So here's what we do: when the controller starts, we check if it is running in DHCP mode. If this isn't the case, we change this in the file nor - rt.ini and the reset - to see if the DHCP server is operational. If the controller is running in DHCP, we check if the IP address is valid (i.e. outside the local range of link). If it isn't read us the last known IP address and write those set in the file nor - rt.ini and restart.

    An example of the sections of the INI file:

    For DHCP, the section of the nor - rt.ini will look like this:

    [TCP_Stack_Config]

    USE_DHCP = DNS_Address

    Gateway USE_DHCP =

    USE_DHCP = Ip_address

    USE_DHCP = Masque_sous

    For a static IP address:

    [TCP_Stack_Config]

    DNS_Address = 0.0.0.0

    Gateway = 10.0.18.1

    Ip_address = 10.0.18.13

    Masque_sous = 255.255.255.128

    It would be nicer than the network RT target apply Settings.vi would work for auto-reconfiguration, but it saved the day for us at least in this case.

  • DHCP Server R2 2012 problem

    Hello world.

    I am new to Windows Server. I'm setting up a server to connect thin clients and use it only as an internet point.

    Server roles installed: SC AD, AD DS, AD FS and AD LDS, AD RMS, App Server, DHCP, DNS, file storage Services, Hyper-V, IIS, IPAM, NAP, remote access, Remote Desktop Services. GOING to Services, WDS, Windows Server Essentials experience, WSUS Server Local, all servers.

    My problem is that DHCP does not dynamically IP addresses in the clients. In trying to check the DHCP problem, I used followed enough of ipconfig ipconfig / renew and got the error message "an error has occurred during the renewal of the vEthernet of the virtual interface (my static IP port): unable to contact your DHCP server. I even removed then added the DHCP function and no change.

    What I am doing wrong? Help, please!

    Other tips on this deployment will be welcome, because I'm out of my League here and have no money to wait for him.

    PS. I downloaded and installed SELFSSL for safety certification, as is (without modification).

  • DHCP server running Hyper-v comments

    Original title: Hyper-V DHCP

    Hi all

    I'm having a problem with a DHCP server hyper-v guest.

    The DHCP server is seeing demand fall, assignment of an address to the pool, but the client pc never receives the details.

    Hyper-v host is 2012r2, the guest is 2012r2 running on a gen 2 VM.

    On the same hyper-v host is our SBS 2011 VMS (which does not not on the legacy network adapter) run DHCP with no problems.

    I'm obviously SBS DHCP services during the test.

    The 2012r2 and the SBS invited to be on the same vSwitch with the only difference that I see the generation of VM.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

  • New DHCP server not to issue the IPS (2012 R2)

    Having a new DHCP server is going. Authorized and not coming error. Turn off the old DHCP server and try to renew the lease of the IP, and nothing happens. What is the problem?

    I forgot to change the IP addresses of switches support. :( Everything works. :)

  • Cannot DHCP server see

    World in the morning.

    I have a problem that I do not quite understand and I hope that it is an answer out there fairly quickly until I shoot all my hair!

    I'm working on a VIRTUAL network IL4 Secure LAN. I have DHCP enabled and configured on a server that also acts as the domain controller.

    I set up the scopes on the DHCP server with the IP address range that he should look on what subnet etc.

    If I use a static IP address, it connects instantly, but when you use DHCP is takes a while to find something while he gives automatic address 169.254 (PIPA)

    Why the client computer cannot see the DHCP server?

    • Client PC is located on the same domain.
    • DHCP enabled on Server services
    • DHCP enabled on IPv4

    Server is 2008r2 and Client pc Windows XP and Windows 7

    Thoughts?

  • Requirement of DNS and DHCP Server Essentials 2012 home

    I have a Server Windows Essentials 2012 acting as DNS and DHCP server with a domain name for backups etc on my home network. It's that everything works fine, no errors, no problem. Works well actually, telling me when the children did not install updates or restarted.

    I have two groups of users. My sons step, 10 and 12, which I want to use OpenDNS as a provider external DNS with a policy very, very limited and my wife and me who want to use indications of root or Google DNS or any other DNS provider. Others, specific devices no user (box of the xBox, WII, Satellite, TV, CCTV etc.) can use.

    Before the 2012 server, I had a 2 k 3 server running in a virtual machine for DHCP, alone and put my wife and my devices on static reservations with the just and external DNS provider used OpenDNS as the default scope, DNS. Unfortunately different bits of domain services 2012 don't seem to work unless the server of 2012 is the first DNS server listed on client machines (backups failed. Impossible to find other local computers). Currently, this means that we are all using OpenDNS.

    What I would like is a way to say 2012 to send adult group DNS queries to another DNS provider and leave the rest at default to OpenDNS, while still having them register in the original DNS domain. Any suggestions?

  • Can DHCP server with two scopes - I have reservations in doubles in the two staves?

    Hi all

    Not really a guru of DHCP, so be nice :)

    Currently, we run a DHCP service from one of our domain controllers (win 2008R2). The domain controller is the segment of a network (10.10.120.0/24), the computers making DHCP requests are on a separate network (10.10.103.0/22). We use our ip-helper routers setting to say the devices on the network, how to reach the DHCP server. This has worked well for years.  I should also point out it is company policy for PCs/servers have a static IP, so for the PC, we create reservations for each PC. Servers are assigned static mmanually.

    The question is now we have overflowed into a new building and put in a black 1 GB fiber that connects the two buildings. The network in the new building is using a different network (10.10.104.0/24) address. Implementation of a 2nd scope on the DHCP server for this address range went well and once the ip-to support additional parameter has been done on the router the PCs in the new building could fine DHCP to the domain controller in the main building. Everything is good.

    The question is now, we are moving PC between the two buildings, I was wondering if it is ok to keep the existing reserves for the PC in one scope and have a duplicate for her in the new scope assign the new IP address. Of course, the PC cannot be in two places at once and the DHCP console doesn't; "t seem to complain about the same MAC address used in two staves, but I don't really know whether it is advisable or not. Basically, our operations staff become a little miffed at having to remove a single scope of reservations and recreate them in the 2nd scope when the PC to move between buildings.

    So the questions is safe / advisable to do it or not?

    Kind regards

    Craig

  • Client DHCP is unable to get a valid IP address from the DHCP server.

    Client DHCP is unable to get a valid IP address from the DHCP server. I have a home edition of Windows XP attempts to connect to my router wirelessly with wireless or wired connection but I get an error in Event Viewer with the discription DHCP 1007 error message. From what I researched, I discovered that the DHCP service depends on the AFD, TCP/IP and NetBT services. All these services are correctly place and worked very well (even the DHCP service is running without error) but every time I try to release/renew my IP address I receive than DHCP warning in the case where the viewer and I just cannot get a valid IP address of the server (router) I also have one of these verizon wireless G3 usb adapters and it works fine. I also have a good ping back when I try to do a ping localhost (for the closure) I also tried the preinstallation of uninstalled drivers from the adapter/s and nothing works. The only entrees in the registry for DHCP error are also AFD, NetBT and TCP/IP nothing else there, also all the files in the/system32/drivers afd.sys netbt.sys and tcpip.sys in addition to solve the problem, I'll mention that I installed and reinstalled Northon earlier, I do not remember if the problem appears before or after that. I receive also any error or warning in the security log or at least I don't know how to read: P

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the information.

    I hope you know that it is risky to connect the laptop to the Internet with no firewall and no antivirus... If this laptop is already connected to the Internet in this State, he is perhaps already infected.

    You said you know the router works because the other computers can connect successfully to it.  You should check the configuration of the router to make sure that it is not configured to limit the number of IP address it supplies, and (b) it is not configured to filter users by MAC address.

    When this laptop is connected by Ethernet, even if he gets the IP address of 169.254.x.y, can you ping the router?  Find the IP address of the router on any computer connected to it by running the ipconfig command in a command prompt window.  The "default gateway" is the IP address of the router.  Run the ping command in the command prompt window as well.

    If the ping is successful, it is possible that you might be able to use an IP address in the correct range for an Ethernet cable (but I doubt that it works for the wireless).

    I can't connect to the internet.  I'm on a wired connection.  My system is Windows XP Professional with the media center.  I get the 169.254 ip address automatic with the subnet 255.255.  I tried releasing the investigation period, renewing the period of investigation (failed to contact my dhcp server), uninstall and reinstall the protocol tcp/ip (which gave me a false message of connectivity with the automatic ip and the subnet assigned by dhcp), uninstall and reinstall the driver, my dhcp that is activated.  I've tried everything I can think of or find.  I need to some tips and suggestions.  Thank you!

    Thank you all for responding.  I tried all the software solutions that I know and it was recommended to try.  Nothing.  I have only that it is a hardware problem.  I'll install a new Ethernet card and see what happens.
