  • Envy 15 K2T37AV: Replace digitizer for Envy 15-Instructions and void the warranty?

I dropped my computer a few days ago from cracking of the digitizer, but not the LCD screen. The display still works, and I'm debating whether to pay to fix it or just do it myself or ask at a local store to do. My questions are:

    (1) do I have to dissect your laptop to replace the digitizer, or y at - it a simple way to just pull the digitizer off the LCD display and replace it?

    (2) in doing so void my warranty? Especially if I don't really have to unscrew anything, and given that the display is not covered by the warranty anyway, if it voids the warranty on everything else?

    (3) if I go with it, what is the model number of the digitizer and are there instructions I could follow?

    Thank you in advance!

The it Department at my job have an image they put on work computers. We rent a new designer and they refuse to buy a new computer because they state that their image can be put on a new mac comes with El Capitan.

If you ask if they can just roll back the OS X in Yosemite, they said that this could void the warranty on the machine. Does anyone know if it's done?

You should not use an OS more old than what the computer shipped with.

  • ProBook 440 G2: RAM Upgrade will void the warranty?

    Hello

After a lot of dilemma, I buy THISlaptop.

My main concern is the "on-site 5-year guarantee" it comes with.

This laptop has now only 4 GB of RAM. I want to add an another 4 GB myself.

In doing so, it will take Bay opening to service the laptop.

Open myself for a RAM upgrade will void the warranty?

In addition, no one knows how much total RAM this computer supports? How many slots is there?

The page of the product didn't.

I tried to contact HP technical support by email, and I have to enter a serial number to reach them. I entered the serial number of my laptop current (and also a probook), but I think that the agent did not read my email properly. Instead of answering my question, he sent me a link to extend the warranty on my laptop today.

    Thank you...

    Hello

According to the Manual, it has 2 slots:

See Page 2, 3, 47, 48, to get the instructions before and during the replacement process. Even if it is a simple procedure if you do not have confidence in replacement, it gives to the HP service center, they will do it for you. Opening the door to service memory will not void the warranty - but if you daamage something in the replacement process, it will void the warranty.

Please get the exact configuration and preference of the same brand (like this one in the slot) of RAM, mentioned in the manual.

You can run this toolto know the details of the installed RAM sticks & moving forward with the purchase of od sizes appropriate sticks needed to make it to 8 GB in total.

  • XP installation will void the warranty

    Hello

I hope I am in the right place to ask this question - find info on the Toshiba site is not very easy! I am looking to buy a laptop Toshiba with Vista preloaded, but want to partition the drive and put XP on the partition as a dual boot. What I need to know is, this will void the international guarantee? Or where can I find?

    Hope you can help!

    Thank you

Don t worry buddy. Installation of all applications, programs, software and other operating systems will not void the warranty.
I recommend that you first create a new partition in Windows Vista, and then you could try to reinstall Win XP on the new partition.

  • Star Wars h.e. 15-an000nl: optical drive Swap with a ssd will void the warranty?

    Hi all

I am a proud new owner of this machine, and since it comes with a 1 TB hard drive 5400 RPM and I am also a happy owner of an SSD, I was wondering if the optical drive with the ssd Exchange void my warranty?

I read a little the other q / a and I see that if I try to reach the drive, with all the screws and the cover plastic to raise, I'll probably end by unsecured (actually is not very clear if it's for sure or I'll use a ssd tested non hp...) and since then to remove the optical drive , I just remove a screw, buy an adapter and you're good to go...

So my question is: what limits should I beyond the warranty for you? It's just the opening action itself, or there is more?

And since I write here, optical drive sata port is a sata3 as (I hope) the hard disk it is? Would you recommend this operation?

Thanks in advance for any assistance received...

The optical drive is an authorized user of replacement so you can put an SSD in an optical caddy and will not void the warranty but I do not recommend: 1. the interface is slower; and 2. You cannot start it. Unfortunately, access to the internal hard drive space is verboten and may void the warranty. We can speculate and say if it's done well, nobody would know and likely HP won't guarantee, but we can get official word on this, so the smartest thing is to assume the worst. If you don't care the guarantee and want just your laptop to be quick, we are happy to help you with the understanding that you risk the warranty.

  • I open my laptop without voiding the warranty?

I have a T520, and I bought the extended warranty for it. Still about 700 days go on it.

My CMOS battery is upwards and I know how to solve this problem and I have step by step instructions, and I can do it myself for free in one night. It's infinitely better an option than leaving with a support team, even if I could do it today AND labor was free, nor what its likely at all. With the way things are, the more early I could do that to someone who can fix it would be next Friday.

So, back to my question. Am I allowed to fix it myself, or that void the warranty?

    lead_org wrote:
Well there are sticker Sub guarantee that prevents you to take off the bezel of the wrists/keyboard based and make on that, self service

Are you sure? I'm working on a W520 a few days ago and I have no recollection of such a sticker. Where is it supposed to be located?

  • HP Pavilion 15-ab234nl: voiding the warranty

    Hi all

yesterday I got a new HP laptop and I want to install an SSD with a caddy, replacing the DVD drive.

My question is, if I do this replacement, the warranty? There isn't that one screw to remove to remove the DVD drive, so I don't have to diassemble the computer laptop everything.

    Thank you!

Understood. The optical drive is a replaceable item user simply remove the DVD drive and replace it with a caddy for one SSD/HDD can not void the warranty. However, you might want to reconsider putting a SSD in such a caddy. The interface is slower than usually used nowadays for the hard drives and SSD and you will lose the advantage of the speed of the SSD. If you want to add storage pure just get a mechanical hard drive much cheaper.

Based on the specifications of your laptop has a mechanical drive of 1 TB. What you really want to do, is put this SSD inside the 1 TB harddrive where now and put the 1 TB drive in the optical caddy. This is the optimal configuration.

See p. 49 of repair here:

    Manual

Opening at the back of the laptop is not technically end user, but it is not really difficult. HP will most likely not voiding the warranty as long as it's done without causing damage. If it was my cell phone, that's what I would do for her.

Before we do it do a system recovery disk so you can easily reinstall Windows to the SSD. After the back if you need some help with that. The disc in the optical box cannot be bootable, just so that you know who.

  • Can I update without voiding the warranty?

    Hi all

2 weeks ago, I bought the hp pavilion notebook PC 17-f001nd 17. I have a stick of RAM left free more than a generation, I did and it is compatible. But do I put without voiding the warranty?

    Kind regards

    Bo Kersten

    Hi, Bo:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04402649.PDF

The memory of the removal and replacement procedures are provided in Chapter 6.

It is not a do it yourself task and would in fact void the warranty if you have installed the memory yourself and that the PC had a problem later.
